Who: Doucette and Lulu Where: The Maaaaaaaaaaaall! When: A bit after lunch Weather: Average spring day - but who cares gurl we're in the maaaaaaaaaaaallA frown was forming on her lips in slow motion, just the smallest tweak to the corners pulling down as every garment was slid along the rack. Too big, too small, wrong color, wrong everything! And the prices weren't making her feel much better about picking up something 'wrong'. 'Wrong' was saved for those 75% off outfits you buy as a means to applaud your supreme shopping skills and then never take the outfit out of your closet again while your friends talk behind their hands about the possibility of committing you to an AA meeting for shopping.
Clearly her good fortune was not going to lie within the blouses and shorts of outfit design and so she turned to what really made everyday special: the accessories. Specifically the boots for now, but there was a stack of hats over in the corner she was no doubt about to pass up, and a number of necklaces dangling near the check out that would no doubt add a few extra dollar signs onto her sure-to-be mounting bill.
Contemplation over the other items in the store were soon pushed from her mind at the sight of an amazing pair of high heeled cowboy boots that would match perfectly with a brown and beige outfit she'd bought the other week. Doucette busied herself trying on the boots before standing and pacing up and down the row to test them out.
Unfortunately, she wasn't paying much attention to where she was walking, which was especially dangerous considering her still-healing ankle.

It was a usual day in the life of a certain rabbit raevan. She was out shopping with her gram-gram. She had even managed to wander away from the quixotic woman. Yup, just a usual day for LuLu. What was unusual, however, was that she found herself in the shoe department of her favorite store. As many times as she had wandered through the double doors of this beloved building, she had never once stepped foot.... or rather, ribbon in this area. Her guardian had a way of maneuvering her around this section. He always was a stickler for not letting the frei fix her attention on something she could not use. Even today, with Josh's mother in tow, the likelihood of her visiting this area was slim to none. Lucky for her, she had "misplaced" the woman an aisle back. LuLu would just have find her gram-gram... after she enjoyed shopping on her own for a bit.
LuLu traced a finger dreamily over a pair of red pumps. Her nails idly brushed along the leather material they were constructed from. Her hand then came in contact with a humbling price which read "$199". LuLu let out a sigh.
The girl's mind wandered elsewhere to a world where she had legs to wear these shoes... and the money to buy them. It was not long before LuLu was almost completely absorbed in her daydream. The only thing that served to pull her back into reality was a women prancing up and down the isle just next to her. Well, not particularly the woman. It was the shoes she was donning that grabbed LuLu's attention. The rabbit gave a soft gasp and floated forward. Words flew from her mouth before she could filter them, "Those are beautiful."

Doucette was doing the typical stand on one foot and pivot your body in every direction possible to find every stitch of perfection or flaw within the boots one wishes to purchase. They were...so closely out of her price range that the woman was mentally waging war upon herself to decide whether she wanted to buy them or not. There were, after all, so many lovely hats and bracelets and other cute accessories to be enjoyed and she did have a pair pretty similar at home. So she didn't really need this lovely pair.
Too bad need and want are really never on the same level with each other.
The sweet voice startled her somewhat and she looked up with a grin, "Aren't they? I just love boots in this..." Doucette' voice wandered off, for as she was lifting her head her eyes clearly trailed up along the lack of lower half. A Raevan! In the shoe section?
Doe blinked in classic movie fashion, her face all but expressionless for a moment before she gave the bunny an enthusiastic grin. "Wow, you are so cute," she gushed before her mouth closed with lips pursed together. No. Cute wasn't the right word. Certainly the bunny was cute, but she also looked tribal, and tribal was rarely cute and sometimes not even nice. The girl could be a cute warrior for all she knew!
Please let me keep my head for that comment!

LuLu still seemed to be focused on the shoes rather than the woman who wore them. Keen lavender eyes dipped and wavered over every stitch and groove. Her attention was only pulled away from the lovely boots when the frei heard the well placed complement aimed at her. The rabbit looked up and regarded Doucette for the first time. She smiled and gave a slight curtsy in midair, "Thank you."
This woman had good tastes in fashion as well as people. She was smart in complimenting the frei. It was an action that would not go unnoticed. The rabbit offered up an introduction as a reward, "I am LuLu."

A wide grin grew upon her lips, creating dimples which hid amongst her dimples. The way the Raevan's eye studied the boots showed that she was an experienced shopper, and Doucette liked any experienced shopper. Plus, did she just curtsy? Unbearably cute! Somehow the Irish woman knew she would really like this Raevan. Any Raevan she found in a mall was bound to be a kindred spirit after all.
"It's really nice to meet you Lulu," Doucette gushed, blushing along her cheeks as she held out a hand halfheartedly, just in case Raevan's weren't interested in such things. You never really know after all, and better to not offend by not offering a hand at all! "I'm Doucette, though Doe is ok as well. So what are you shopping for?"

LuLu stared at the delicate hand offered to her for a moment. Lavender eyes trailed over manicured nails before her nose crinkled slightly in distaste. She did not enjoy when other people initiated touching. It made her... uneasy. After all, she still barely knew this woman. The frei's senses were still on high alert despite Doe's giddy and jovial appearance. LuLu trusted her instincts even if it meant assuming everyone was an enemy until proven otherwise. Plus, that was the sort of greeting men gave, not princesses. It seemed redundant and somewhat belittling; however, LuLu swallowed just a small amount of her pride in order to humor her new acquaintance. The frei did not want to come off as rude.
LuLu reached up and took the girl's finger tips in her own. The rabbit barely squeezed the appendages as she gave one soft flick of her wrist. The rabbit released the handshake just as quickly as she initiated it. The motion felt awkward and silly to the frei. Even though LuLu tried her hardest to maintain some feminine modesty in her actions it still felt too rough to her. Rough actions should be reserved for fighting not saying hello. LuLu concluded that she would not be taking up this new form of introduction anytime soon. The rabbit much preferred her signature curtsy.
LuLu's smile returned now that the handshake drama had passed, "Pleasure to meet you Doooe." The girl dragged out the name and sampled it on her lips. She was always fond of short names. They reminded the frei of her own. They were easier to remember too. "I am just looking," the girl gave a faint chuckle that seemed more sad and misplaced than happy, "No legs, after all." LuLu looked wistfully again at the shoes around her. There was also the matter of Josh's dad putting a shopping ban over her. Nevertheless, it seemed pointless mentioning that fact to this woman. The frei mused. Maybe one day she could enjoy this particular aisle more.

Oh! If only she'd had known that Lulu didn't like the semi-vulgar hand shake Doe would have never offered it. It was just such an automatic reaction for the woman used to meeting a number of restaurant managers that always rushed forward with their hands outstretched and ready to give her a full-body shake down. It was certainly noted however the general distaste of the action when she did it and so Doucette made a note not to bother about doing it again with the pretty rabbit.
At Lulu's words, Doe's eyes dropped the the ever-ethereal trailing of ribbon from the girl's ribs, most certainly the strangest thing about raveans in general. Ah, but a life without shoes! Doucette didn't know if she could have managed without. But a life with wings? Perhaps that would make up for a lack of toes to slip into heels.
"Well then! Let's go look in a more promising section," she said in a friendly manner, flicking her wrist in a 'follow me' gesture and heading off towards the section with hats, sunglasses and gawdy necklaces to enjoy trying on. "What do you think?" Doe asked, clearly fishing for fake compliments as she smushed a newsboy style cap onto her puff of red curls.

LuLu shifted uncomfortably under Doucette's gaze. The girl did not enjoy being scrutinized. It made her feel as though she was being judged, like she had done something wrong. Lavender eyes diverted away from Doe. However, LuLu could not help but follow the woman's stare downward towards her ribbon. The rabbit watched listlessly as the tattered scrap of green cloth twirled and radiated beneath her. The frei had grown accustomed to this occurrence long ago. The ribbon had lost most of its entertainment value after her first month with Josh. LuLu looked back up at Doucette, her awkwardness passing for now, perhaps it was just new to this woman?
The rabbit’s ears perked up when Doucette broke the silence around them. She cocked her head to the side curiously when the woman motioned for her to follow. The frei hesitated for a moment, her better judgment telling her not to tag along, before her inquisitiveness got the better of her. With a snap of her wings the raevan trailed behind.
LuLu slowly spun around in the new aisle in an attempt to take in all there was to see. She recognized the scenery instantly. She had been here before. This was one of her favorite places in the store, next to the clothing department. It was a well known fact around the Peterson residence that she was an accessory fiend. On more than one occasion, Jannet’s necklaces and bracelets had gone missing. Immediately, a set of gold bangles caught LuLu’s eye. They twinkled and hung incitingly from a metal hook as if becoming the raevan to come and take them away from their display case prison. She would be more than happy to give them a new home. The frei made a mental note to bug Josh’s mother about them later. For now, the rabbit’s concentration was ripped back towards Doucette… and her newfound hat.
The rabbit frowned and shook her head. She was never one to simply give out false compliments. They were things to be earned. Doe, unfortunately, was not doing well in securing one from the finicky raevan. LuLu floated closer and plucked a different hat from a shelf. The girl scrutinized the piece in her hands. She began twirling it side to side between her palms. It was a green bowl shaped design, something akin to what a flapper would have worn back in the day. LuLu seemed pleased with the selection. She held it up to her companion, “This one is better. Try it.”

The Irish woman's gaze was nothing short of inquisitive, certainly not lewd and never judgmental. Though she'd met a few raevens, the interest level in the woman had not lowered from exposure; if anything she was more boldly able to be inquisitive with more meetings. If Doucette had a ribbon trailing from her waist and a total lack of feet, she wasn't sure she'd ever grow tired of playing with it. But...maybe that was because she had too much of a childlike mentality.
A wide grin grew upon the redhead's lips as she watched the rabbit trail towards the golden bangles -- they would look truly becoming with the girl's tribal-themed ensemble, but would do very little for Doe's pale skin and more relaxed style. Always a gift-giver, the woman filed the style preference away in her mind as Lulu came over at the call. The lack of compliment didn't bother the woman though. Honesty was always the best policy after all, and she'd have other friends that would just as soon be flat out rude about it instead of letting her down gently as the raevan had done.
With a little 'ooh' Doucette reached for the green hat, plopping it onto her head and angling herself to look into the mirror at flattering angles. Although it did make her eyes pop with the added color bringing out the depths of her natural tones, she couldn't help but to ask, "You don't think it makes me look a bit...Christmasy?" Lips curled into a small pout as she fussed at her red-orange curls, not particularly sold one way or another on the hat at the moment. Lulu's opinion would help though.

LuLu seemed just as analytical as Doucette, if not more. The frei watched while the other female twisted and turned her svelte body into gently sloping, decidedly feminine silhouettes. As the Irish woman fought to find good angles, the rabbit bobbed with her to look for the bad ones. Lavender eyes crinkled in thought. With each pose made, the raevan found that she becoming less and less married to her selection. Red curls puffed up from the moss hued hair piece to give a view that was akin to a volcano erupting into a swampy sky. Although the imagery may have been lovely in one of LuLu’s fairytales, it did not look good in person. LuLu pouted. She was not fond of making mistakes. However, she would let this one take a backseat for now. Some slip-ups were bound to be made in the name of fashion. If anything, this woman was able to prove to the frei that she could provide some amusement. Doucette had given LuLu a challenge.
The ever competitive rabbit would accept this mission and beat it.
The frei ‘s brown tipped ears perked at Doucette’s comment. The fuzzy appendages raised and lowered delicately as they weight the woman’s words. LuLu shrugged. She did not know what the hat had to do with Christmas. It looked nothing like what the man in red wore. Was she was asking if it made her look pudgy, like the man in red? LuLu’s bell like voice rang reassuringly, “You are not fat.” Lips curled into a smile. The frei held out a hand to gain Doucette’s attention. A spark of excitement lit her young features, “Follow me now. I will find the best hat.”
A grand tale was being meticulously woven deep inside the frei’s mind. LuLu floated off with her arms poised gracefully at her sides. Today, she played the part of the refined princess. She was a gracious and kindhearted ruler who had undertaken the task of helping a peasant girl find a hat. Perhaps, it was for the King’s ball? Yes, this peasant girl needed the perfect hat so she could find her true love at the King’s ball. LuLu let out a cheeky giggle. Her torn ribbon trailed behind her like the train of a dress. The raevan took the frayed fabric between her fingertips and gave a delighted twirl. She only wished she could enlist the help of small animals. That would be the cherry atop her princess sundae. LuLu questioned, “Does Doucette like princesses?”
It was not long before the rabbit found another promising hat. This one was a cowboy hat made of weathered leather. The frei nodded to her companion in approval. The material gave the apparel a lovely, rustic touch. She held it out to the woman, “Try it on.”

Blue eyes blinked at the strange, off handed comment about her weight. Not that the Irish woman was anywhere near a size zero (if only she could even be in the single digits!) but she didn't think she was fat and she wasn't sure why the rabbit girl was bringing it up. Perhaps she was, in turn, suggesting that Doe was indeed fat, but making the comment as if to soften the blow later. One could never really tell with Raevans anyway, of that much she had found out after meeting the handful of them that she had. They were just, on a different thought level than humans in general. If only she could be more aware of the other's thought process though, she would have found the comment outright humorous.
"Oh....ok," the woman said with the air of a person not sure what exactly they're in for and not sure if they want to be party to whatever is about to happen. Doucette drifted off after the frei with a bemused expression upon her face, watching the stiff-backed form of the rabbit as she floated in what could only be described as a regal manner through the variety of accessories amongst her. How very quaint. "But of course, what girl doesn't love princesses?"
Doe gasped softly as the new had was presented to her, the lovely, earthy tones sure to bring out the color of her hair and dim the ever present overabundance of her freckles. "It's perfect," she breathed, taking it from the rabbit as if it were a priceless gem she had no business touching but couldn't resist the temptation all the same. Turning it about in her fingers her gaze simply sparkled with adoration and appreciation for every little detail wrought upon the hat.
For a long moment Doe just admired the fabric and color before lifting it to plop it onto those bright curls. Half way though she paused and looked at the rabbit for a long moment. "You know, I think this would look even more perfect on you. I think this was made for you." Doucette pressed the hat back towards Lulu, urging her to try it on without honestly taking much though to the difficulties of having ears strategically placed to thwart hats.

LuLu's ears twitched as they caught Doe's comment. The rabbit replied in a grave tone that seemed odd and misfitting coming from her mouth, "Only silly girls." If LuLu had some way of sharing her love for princesses with the world she would take up the opportunity in a heartbeat. It was almost whimsical how much respect the rabbit had for those fictional characters.
Lavender eyes gleamed brightly as LuLu watched her companion try on the hat she had offered. The frei was almost shocked at how good the selection turned out. LuLu gasped softly in delight. The girl swelled with pride only to promptly deflate as Doucette returned the accessory. It almost seemed like a slap in the face. LuLu frowned, "Doucette does not like my choice?"
The girl held the brim if the hat between her fingertips and thumbed at the hem idly. She had never given thought to wearing a hat before. The first time she had laid eyes on the fashionable wears she had turned her nose up. They always seemed too restrictive. LuLu did not like the idea of covering up her most prominent feature. It would be like hiding a part of herself. Additionally, a hat would dampen her acute hearing. The rabbit hated being at a disadvantage. Her nerves would not be able to handle such an obvious handicap. LuLu pouted and slipped the hat on for only a brief moment. She wore the item just long enough to give Doe a bitter taste of reality.
LuLu had never been able to find her own perfect hat.
The girl griped, "It was better on you."

Doucette turned her gaze back the bun's with a little pout in her lips and a drawing of her brows. In the same vein, so too did the red head believe that a princess was the optimal role model for people of all ages. For a young girl it was a dream to grow towards and for older woman it was a grounding place for life morals. Men, of course, should be treating their woman only as a princess would be treated, and if they were lucky their woman would treat them as a prince in return. There was no a single vein of humanity that should not be in love with the very idea of princesses and Lulu's dark tone set off the pale woman's alarm bells. "Surely you're joking," she scoffed with a shake of her bouncy curls as she passed the hat back to the frei, hastily following her next question with more soothing answers.
"Oh my but of course I do Lulu!" Doucette put up her most sincere smile, little dimples forming amongst her freckles and those baby blues brightening after the talk of silly people not liking princess. With all her heart Doe loved the hat the girl had picked out. It was just..."To be frank, it might look good on me but it looks like it was made for you. Just as exotic and interesting and beautiful as you are! As much as I love that hat...I would simply feel terrible every time I wore it thinking about how much better suited for you it was than it is for me."
The Irish woman watched as Lulu tried on the hat, noting the difficulties presented and hemming and humming to herself till she gave a little snap of her fingers and snatched up the hat from the frei's unhappy fingers. "I think we can fix that," Doe said with a devious little grin, turning the hat about in her hands and tilting it at different angles with little glances spared for the bunny from time to time. "Yes, I am quite confident that I can fix this hat perfect for you miss Lulu." And with that she marched off to the register to buy it.

LuLu’s dreary mood was smoothed over by Doucette’s polite commentary like an irritated cat getting a sudden and much wanted pet. The girl felt a small swell of pride. As well, she felt her blond ears bobbing with each word spoken as if they were also interested in the unrestrained compliments. The rabbit gave a wistful sigh like a forlorn princess who has lost her prince charming. She wished dearly that all the words that had been said rung true. Of course, Lulu was a rare and exotic beauty, but the frei was unsure if that quality would be exemplified by a poorly fitted hat. The raevan gave the hat’s leather exterior another cursory glance. Lavender eyes melded with it the warm russet brow material as she examined it. Her fingers brushed loosely over its surface as if willing it to work properly. It may not have looked good, but the girl sincerely wished she could pull the look off.
LuLu gave a soft squeak as the accessory was pulled from her grasp with a sudden and uncalled for fervor. Her empty hand shot of in the air from the fright as her gaze followed the form of the retreating hat. The rabbit quirked a brow at the redhead's actions before she tailed after the exuberant woman. LuLu felt a bit uncomfortable with the looks she was receiving. They looked to much like the look she was giving the hat in her hands. She did not like being appraised and was about to protest. However, LuLu's uneasiness was quickly forgotten as Doucette spoke. The promise that she could make the hat work with LuLu’s ears rang tantalizingly in the air around them like a siren call. The rabbit’s voice came out a delicate coo, ”R-really? You can?” She continued to follow behind Doucette even as they approached the register. LuLu felt a bit giddy. Was this really happening?

Although the Irish woman was far from masterful at her hobbies, sewing was something she truly enjoyed and spent a considerable amount of time on in hopes of some day achieving perfection. Perhaps she would never make a full collection on a deadline to send down some frou-frou catwalk, but Doe was constantly designing weird little things for her dogs (oh yes, one of those people). The long ears would not be a problem for the woman to work around. A few simple cuts, some good stitching, and the exotic frei could call herself sheriff. Or...whatever she wanted to call herself in such a cool looking hat. Unfortunately there would be some limiting mobility of those long ears (of which Doucette was afraid to actually ask just how much control she had over that animalistic side of her) but they wouldn't be entirely hampered to stand stock still without an inch of breathing room either.
"I suppose I shouldn't be getting your hopes up," Doucette started with a small frown as she fished a few bills out of her wallet, "But honestly I'm quite confident. It really shouldn't be difficult at all. Maybe a day or two of work, tops. Free, of course!" She grinned between the cashier and Lulu, doing her best to be polite to both since she was interacting with them at the same time. Well, until she accepted the bag with the hat in it of course, then the two didn't need to be hovering about the counter without a mission. "Oh, but where should I bring it? Or where would you like to pick it up? I'm afraid I don't live terribly close to the city so it might be difficult for you to come to me, but I come to shore quite a lot so it will be easier for me to meet you."
