The sun is high, the sand warm, the water clear and cool - summer is upon us!
A lot has happened in the last year, each member of the community in Lab 305
touched by the events that unfolded. As the months roll by and tensions rise, the staff
at Lab 305 have decided that a party is in order to lift spirits and reacquaint Raevans,
Guardians and Non-owners alike. Everyone can use a little sun and surf, so come on by,
leave your troubles at home and seize the day!

|
Manning the drink booth is the one and only Doctor Kyoupiruchi and his ward, Lazarus! At least one of them is a budding bartender, so if you want something exotic or just experimental, this is the place to be! The booth is minimal with a smooth bar top and shelving in the background, an awning extending over the counter for patrons and bartender alike. Juice and alcohol of the brighter spectrum are painted across the back, some bottles more empty than others but a fresh, cool supply kept beneath the display. Actual fruits dot the solid lines of glass to make it more festive -- why does that pineapple wedge look like a crocodile? Is that a swan carved out of coconut on the corner?! Someone apparently had too much fun; hopefully you will too, and should you be of age, you may find said fun in a kick for your drink...
☼ Tropical Treats ☼
The best thing to have on a hot day is fruit, and why limit it to snacks?! The bar has an array of fruity concoctions, from smoothies and juices to flavored water and sweeter alcoholic numbers. If you can think it, it probably exists here!
☼ Delightful Drinks ☼
If fruity isn't your thing, you're still covered - water, coffee, soda - though not as large in abundance, there are other options for your sipping pleasure. There's all manner of drinks to be had if you simply ask, from the normal and mundane to the more random things the staff could find.
☼ Bountiful Buffet ☼
Sink your teeth into this! Spread on an ocean blue cloth over a bench for your munching pleasure, the Lab's own five-star chef Aphismet has been coerced to cook up some delightful finger food! Kabobs with veggies or meat, chicken marsala, potato wedges, stuffed bell peppers and some good ol' BBQ by request! There's also quick nibbles like pretzels, chips and salsa, fruit bowls and other non-perishables.
☼ Decadent Desserts ☼
Alex, with the help of Aphismet, have contributed to satisfy those with a sweeter tooth for eating. Apple tarts, chocolate mousse, fondue with fresh fruit for dipping, strawberry short cake, apricot bars and chocolate covered fruit wedges of all designs. There's also a small wheelbarrow near by with clear dividers in it, each cubby filled with random candy such as candied oranges, jelly beans, lemon drops, sour gummis, salt water taffy and a handful of other classic sweets. |

When: Sunday August 1st, 12:00PM PST - Saturday August 7th, 12:00PST PM
Back by popular demand, the grand game of PAINTBALL returns! This event is open to owners, non-owners and Raevans a like, so come one, come all! Sign up for the game and be separated into two teams - Lazarus' Team Mango and Zul's Team Papaya. You'll be given a paintball gun with your team's colors (make sure you post said color in each post during the game!) and let loose on the beach to shoot at each other like mature adults! ...right? Heh.
Staff will assign Teams. In the case of an odd number of people signing up, one of the Captains will step down. Lazarus' Team Mango is coral, whereas Zul's Team Papaya is seagreen.
___________________________Don't sign up if you can't commit! We don't want to sell our teams short by missing people.
___________________________Roll a random number between 1 and 2. Yes. 1 and 2. 1 is a hit, 2 is a miss. Each paintgun has 6 shots. Aim wisely!

Putting the last touches on the snack table, Alex straightened and smiled at the handy work. The booths looked tropical and welcoming against the pale sand, the ambient lull of the ocean serving as the ideal backdrop to the day's planned activities. The sky was wide and clear, blue and dotted with a few wisps of white in the distance, the temperature moderate with a pleasant breeze rolling off the ocean waves. She could not have asked for a more perfect day to throw the little get-together!
Refastening the clip to hold her hair up against the back of her head, the Italian made her way to her post, a quiet giggle escaping her en route. Like the previous events that involved water, she wore a light bikini ensemble with a splatter pattern of various shades of blue, with her unusual leg-sarong to accompany it; it was like half a pair of chaps, connected to her bottoms and covering her leg from mid-thigh down. It was light, airy, and she didn't mind the eyeful it gave anyone of her scars. Most missed them in favor of her more...womanly assets, and for once, she really didn't mind.
Ah, her station for most of the day! The researcher grinned ear to ear, leaning over one of the filled kiddy-pools and extending her fingers towards one of the denizens - an eight-legged cat with the dome of an octopus. It was just like Snowdrop, and the one Mouse had; an adorable Chimera well suited for the watery venue! Alex smiled and rubbed the bulbous head gently, giving a girlish sigh of affection as it began to purr. She hoped everyone would enjoy the Chimera's as much as she had, though others would likely be hard pressed to be as crazy for the critters as she was. The woman certainly had a penchant for the odd and adorable, especially if they existed in one entity. Next to the Octopussy was the Fish Fox, who merrily leaped between the pools to splash both the eight-legged counterpart and the woman herself. Cupping her hand into the pool, she splashed back at the Chimera, earning a yip of joy and a rather boisterous wave of scaled tail.
Deciding she'd have to con Kyou into giving her one of her own, the woman stood and lifted a hand to cover her eyes, looking down the stretch of white sand to find her charge. Zul was off on his own just then, a short ways from the booths and game sign ups, though doing what, she couldn't say outside of staring out over the ocean. Knowing he'd join when others began to trickle in, she let him be, turning the opposite direction to look at the two men and Raevans setting up the other booths. Anastascia still gave her the heeby jeebies, but it wasn't her job to deal with that today, unless there was some snafu with the other Raevans. Exhaling quietly, she turned her eyes further towards Kyou and Lazarus, watching the latter around the drinks with mingled interest and misgiving. He liked to mix drinks, so what was the harm...right?
Shaking her head, she looked towards the parking lot not far off, waiting with a smile barely containing her excitement. Now, it was just a waiting game!

Surprise had crossed Vyn’s face when she had spotted a banner declaring that LAB305 was having a summer beach party on the beach just a short walk from her house. This morning she had only been walking Thorn and the vibrant font and welcoming smile of the staff setting up their stalls had changed the surprise to excitement. She had been to one of these parties many years ago, but although she had been to other LAB functions since, this was the first time she had heard of the LAB organising another beach party. Consequently she had rushed home, the black pug trotting alongside her fluttering ribbon in the morning heat to inform her guardian of how she desired to spend the day.
Of course, Ethan had been happy to go along with the shadowy frei. After all, he had made quite a few acquaintances in the community of raevan parents and seeing a handful of friendly faces at the beach would be a pleasant way to spend the day. Thorn could not come along because the poor black pelted creature would overheat in the midday sun and the weather was predicted to be incredibly hot – a scorcher! Because of this Ethan had relaxed his clothing for once; rather than a semi-formal shirt and slacks he had donned neat grey plaid shorts and a white polo shirt emblazoned with a designer symbol on the chest. Finishing the look the businessman wore a pair of dark leather deck shoes.
Vyn was similar to her guardian in the fact that she had broken away from her usual fashion conventions to garb herself in a more summery way. The dark clothing had remained in the wardrobe and instead she was wearing a floaty white dress, embellished with fine white lace along the bottom and around the neckline. Her arms were bare and her gothic arm warmers were discarded and a few golden bangles glistened around her wrists. To complete the airy and bright look she had affixed a wide straw hat, casting pleasant of shade over her features. She had learnt her lesson the hard way and now guarded herself against the sun when going out and now there was a sheen of sun cream on her pale skin. Admittedly the rose felt a little odd wearing such light clothing – never before had she been in public so far outside of her usual taste in clothes - yet as she drifted past Ethan she felt in the mood for the summer festivities.
Walking to the site of the LAB’s party didn’t take long and Ethan’s lines face smiled as the surface beneath his feet changed from hard pavement to soft white sand. Thus far they seemed to be the first to have arrived but manning the stalls were some familiar faces – Kyou, Lazarus, Zeke and... the woman who they seemed to be making a bee-line for, Alex.
“Hello Alex!” Called Ethan, waving a friendly hand at the Italian. Vyn repeated this greeting, though her eyes were less focused upon the woman and were trained on the paddling pools that she was standing guard over. Whilst Ethan struck up a conversation with Alex; “How are you? Such a lovely day for a party!” she was examining the residents of the inflated pools. Neither were creatures she had seen before and the curious mixture familiar features drew the shadows interest as she ‘knelt’ down near them. “What are these Alex?” She asked, glancing up at the LAB worker, a curious expression on her face underneath the floppy brim of her hat. |

Aphismet stepped out of the car with a wide grin. He hadn't been to the beach yet this year, but what a wonderful day for the first such excursion! The sun was bright, the sky was clear, and it was as warm as one could have wished. The white-haired chef squinted as he slipped on a pair of sunglasses, and stretched up to enjoy the feeling of all this sunshine on his skin. Aphi wore a light green tank-top and a pair of swim trunks (knowing full well that he'd be going swimming at some point), completing the ensemble with extremely casual and well-worn flip-flops. He'd be kicking those off as soon as he found a place to sit. "This is gonna be great!" The chef announced, his grin widening. "I'm gonna go get something cold to drink, it's hella hot!"
Rivener already floated beside his guardian when that announcement was made, the Scorpion smirking as he nodded. Yes, a cold drink did sound wonderful. "I'll come with," Riv spoke, his voice betraying how calm and well-behaved he'd be today. Ever since summer began, Riv had been dying to come lay on the sand and sun himself silly, but there'd been work and things... He was so happy and content today that nothing in the world would bring him down.
Rivener wore shades like his guardian did, though Riv's were much more stylish and expensive. He did do love spending his money on clothes and accessories. His usual black-and-red lace-front vest had been left back at home today, Riv's skin covered only by his belts and choker. He'd even discarded the armbands he usually loved to keep on. He wanted the sun on every bit of him. Aphismet had tried to get his ward to wear something, and eventually Rivener had agreed to bring along a light gray tanktop, though he only carried it under an arm instead of wearing it.
The two males headed straight for the drink counter, Aphismet finding Alex on the way (hard to miss the bikini-clad woman as she knelt by the kiddie pools) and offering her a bright, cheerful wave. It was hard to resist blowing her a kiss to boot, but Aphi figured it'd be awkward if Ethan looked over and thought Aphi had blown it to HIM or something. The chef snickered at the thought and turned to the drinks, finding Lazarus and Kyou both busily setting up. "Hey guys! Gimme something fruity and served in a coconut, if possible! With one of those little summer umbrella things in it!" Hey, why not? Go with the theme!
Rivener smiled at Laz, raising an eyebrow. "You're making drinks now? I guess that mango shnapps thing really really caught your interest, hunh?" The Scorpion grinned, leaning on the counter to enjoy the shade. "I'll have some creamsicle-tasting drink. If you can make one," he challenged with a smirk.

"Anya come back here!"
"No."
"It won't stain your skin, I promise!"
"No." And she dipped off out of his reach again. For a Raevan who couldn't properly fly with those spindly wings of hers, she was fast when she wanted to be, and Anastacia was adamantly against this so called "sun lotion". She'd seen Zeke applying it to his own person and it had turned his skin purple. It was her current favorite color and even though her guardian wasn't exactly purple any more (he was regular toned thank you very much) the bright red stain of juice on her arm still had not faded and she was of the mind the purple of the lotion would do much of the same. No more of that, and definitely no touching!
Zeke sighed as his ward took off down the sand again after their "game" of chase. Even though she was still in the vicinity of the booths (and Zul, whom he had just noticed was lingering a short ways away). She'd just have to learn the hard way, but he did wish it didn't have to come to that. He'd nab the umbrella he packed and give that to her instead when she decided to dart back to assess if he had the lotion. He also had her knitting supplies so that would also make her return to the table, so all in due time. He'd just need to be patient and keep an eye out for that lavender-topped head of hers. In Zeke's mind, this event was the perfect thing for her - she'd be able to meet others and wouldn't have to be attached to his hip to do it. She'd have to learn to make her own introductions and have to speak more, so that'd be a boon to the both of them. Hopefully she'd learn that she'd have to be social to some degree as well, but he shouldn't hope for a revelation over the course of the day. Either way, she was out and about already and he had just a few things left to do.
He readjusted the green-tinted shades over his eyes and smoothed the periwinkle button up he had on as the wind came in off the water. Only two of the buttons were truly done up and they were the ones just around his pierced navel, and the shirt itself ended just above the curve of his backside. What seemed to be unlike the colorful man his square-legged bathing suit was a simple black one with two hot blue lines going up the right leg but was otherwise devoid of color but gave an ample view of his thigh to knee tattoos. Anastacia had been quite confused to see her guardian dressed as such, which even now made the veterinarian laugh. Though he wanted to linger Zeke got back to work after dropping the sun tan lotion in his bag with the other beach things and the rain-use umbrella. No time to waste, especially since he just caught a glimpse of Rivener sidling up to the neighboring drink booth.

How in the world did he decide to come to the beach?
He looked up to the blue sky, mind wandering back to a few days ago, when he had received an E-mail from Lab. Putting aside the question of how Lab had gotten a hold of his E-mail in the first place, the doctor was quite taken back by the content. It was an invitation to a beach party, something Kenth would NEVER go to in his lifetime. Unfortunately, his subject was also peeking at what he was doing at the time, and immediately spelled out "WANT" with her expression. He wanted to refuse, but before he could his body had already acted without consent and gave Xuelian a confirming nod. Why? It seemed that Kenth was never able to refuse anything from Xuelian, not after she had demonstrated to be an obedient, delightful, but sensitive creature.
Kenth shook his head, utterly defeated by the radiating excitement that burnt him with more severity than the sun. He was still holding Xuelian's hand tightly, but his face was turned, unable to endure the sparkles that the dainty Raevan tossed out periodically. Kenth, the hermit doctor who strived to never leave his clinic unless for survival reasons, was particularly dragged by his subject to this place. Being in the hot sun was making him sweat already, despite the fact the doctor wore only a single layer of shirt and, to the surprise of even himself, a pair of beach shorts, and sandals. He thought he must have looked like an Alien, at least, that's how Xuelian looked at him when he first came out of the office. The girl literally gawked at Kenth's sudden change of appearance, then burst into a series of laughter, the kind mixed with bemusement and pleasure.
Kenth winced at the laugh, but failed to find it condescending. It was, after all, the Raevan who suggested "Kens should change clothes." Perhaps she too, felt the ruthless heat. The doctor glanced at his subject, who was now wandering aimlessly on the white sand, oooing and wooowing at the colorful stands and the sheer amount of people present. There was, indeed, a lot of people, far more than Kenth had imagined. He discerned a few Raevans, some of which he had met himself, though his sight seemed to have a purpose. If this was a beach party hosted by THE LAB, then SHE would no doubt be there, being a worker at Lab 305. Kenth frowned at the possibility, but gave up on restraining himself from searching. He tugged lightly at Xuelian's arm, the other turned her attention to him, eyes still shooting out stars of wonder.
"Don't leave my sight." Kenth reminded softly, and let the hand go. Xuelian blinked a few times before finally realizing her Guardian was setting her free. She made a soft squee, and floated away, aiming for the area with the biggest crowd of people. Kenth watched her go, suddenly concerned if the heat would hurt the female Raevan.
Should have brought an umbrella...

WHUMPH!
Startled awake by the pillow that had been thrown into his face, Ronan yanked off the offending object to find his 10 year old niece, Maili, sitting at the end of the bed. With both arms and legs crossed, and an expression that could only be described as murderous.
"Get up," she growled.
"Is there an emergency?" Ronan asked, slowing sitting up until his forearms rested on his knees, a raised eyebrow inquiring about the rude awakening.
"YES it's a goddamn (-Ronan's lips twitched at the word choice-) emergency! The place that created the RAEVANS is having a party at a beach that is WALKING distance from here, and I CAN'T GO BECAUSE OF FREAKING SCHOOL STUFF!" Maili ended this statement with a scream of frustration.
"Which means YOU," she said while jabbing her index finger into his small patch of reddish brown chest hair, "will be going in my place."
Raevans. The half bodied creatures that had become Maili's near obsession ever since she had seen one two years ago at Christmas. Ronan gave a wry grin - he knew the fact that she had a field trip the day of this particular party ticked her off to no end. However, he had not expected to be sent in her place. It was still a trip to the beach though, and he would not look a gift horse in the mouth. Besides, he might finally understand how these beings had enraptured Maili for so long.
Walking down the beach, Ronan finally saw the party area come into view. At the moment he was barefoot, toes digging into the sand and curled fingers holding his sandals by the straps. In his other hand he held his swim bag with his towel and extra sunblock. The only article of clothing he was wearing was a pair of elastic blue swim shorts with yellow stripe on each side, skin tight and ending half way down his thighs. Coming to halt, he absentminded scratched his goatee with the sandal holding hand as his hazel eyes scanned where to go next. He decided to head out to as-of-now bare patch of beach not to far from the different booths, and Ronan laid out his towel on the sand, placing both his swim bag and sandals onto the brightly colored cloth. For a few seconds he just stood there listening to the sound of the surf, but soon he shook his head, snapping himself out of it. This was suppose to be a party, not a personal meditation session.
Choosing to start with the least populated area, Ronan walked towards the popsicle booth, hoping the man with bi-colored hair could help him settle in and meet all this unfamiliar company.
