WHO: Revontulet and Luka WHEN: Late evening, the moon is out but not too high WHERE: Around town, no where specific yet WEATHER: Warm, hazy, but mostly clear with a few drifting clouds Another night and another jail break. Or at least that’s how Revontulet tended to think of it. It was not that Doucette was overly parental or suffocating, or that her life out on the island was unhappy, but the aurora always seemed to feel a sense of security in their small home. The security was comforting but too much. The night was when she was happy, when she felt free, and even then she was supposed to stay indoors, shut away from the moon and the stars and everything that was beautiful and romantic. In the pale moonlight everything seemed like it could be a film noir, mysterious, dangerous and exhilarating all at once.
That’s why she called it a jail break.
Drifting across the small inlet of water between their crop of land and the main shore, Ren let her ribbon trail in the water, sending up a fine spray of mist behind her fanned by each fluttered beat of her wings. The water felt cool, calming the irritation she felt pulsing in her core and making her rune flare when she focused too hard on the feeling. It was nearing the full moon again. Even if she could not see the evidence with her own eyes, the distant tension inside her was proof enough. Thankfully she could ignore it for now, a distant threat. Instead she turned her attention to the moon, soaking in the soft, milky beams as they filtered down. It was a beautiful flavour, creamy and smooth with just the hint of sweetness, overpowering the salty after-taste of the ocean water. Sev had shown her a fresh water lake to feed on, but it was not the closest for midnight snacks.
As the aurora fed she felt the familiar sensation tingling along her scalp, like someone cracking an egg over her head and letting the yoke seep slowly down each strand. It was the glow, the strange shifting glow that looked so much like aurora gliding effortlessly through the night sky. Her wings glowed a bit as well, but far less prominent, not nearly worth noticing in contrast to those silken locks.
One on the main land she wandered aimlessly, careless as to a destination or mission.

It was weird being out again. There was no reason for everything to seem so different, but with the shadows dancing under the spotlight of the moon it was without a doubt.. foreign. In fact, he couldn't remember the last time he'd been out at night in the city.
But, it was a nice change. For once, he didn't have to worry about the stares from myriad of people that followed him in the daylight. Floating down the empty streets, Luka paused when a ghostly glimmer of greenish blue fluttered a head.
What was that?
Curiosity piqued, Luka headed towards the mysterious glow to find it's source.
Could be one of those will-o'-the-wisps his guardian had once told him about in passing? Little flames that were only told in stories? Flickering, glowing things that mislead people to their demise? Or was it just a figment of his imagination?
"Anyone there?'
Luka called out cautiously, approaching the glow. What would he find tonight?

Revontulet turned her head slightly, ears catching the distinct sound of a question of the soft breeze of the night. The ambient light of her hair made the pale, moonkissed skin of her face seem almost ghost-like, ethereal and beautiful as her form twisted towards the other frei and followed the sound of his voice and the slight glow of his rune.
The aurora’s own rune pulsed with interest, glowing with a delicate bluegreen that seemed reserved for such quiet times like this. “Hello?” she called out softly, hesitantly ensuring the other was not someone who should not be trusted. Although she’d not run into anything terribly upsetting so far, Doucette often warned her about the evils of the night.
In Ren’s opinion, the night could hold nothing bad, only shadow other’s good.
When the other frei came into focus she offered a shy but warm smile, lifting a hand to brush some of the glowing strands from her face. “Hi,” Revon repeated, voice a breathy feminine tone with a unique, almost soothing huskiness to it that wasn’t readily identified with the two words she’d spoken.
“What are you doing out tonight?” Pale, leaf-like wings lifted with her curiosity, drifting in and out against her back like seaweed caught in a lulling current.

Luka was quite taken by her appearance. She had a very lively light in her eyes, and yet she had a surprisingly delicate appearance. She was like one of those flowers that only bloomed at night or something. And her wings, they were something you might see on an illustration for fairies.
His eyes however were drawn to her hair; the source of that curious blueish green light that had caught his attention just moments before.
"Hello." He responded, giving her a warm smile reminiscent of an early spring morning. At her question, he couldn't help but chuckle. "I got tired of being inside all day. I needed a change of scenery." He held out his hand for the new Raevan. "My name is Luka. Who may you be? I haven't see you before."
His eyes were drawn to the swaying of her hair. It seemed to move and dance on its own. Almost as if there was an wind on another dimension that only her hair could feel.
"Actually, I could be asking you the same question. Hasn't anyone ever told you it's dangerous for women to be out alone at night? There are bad men around who would easily take advantage of you." Not to say he would, but he was certain there were quite a few who would be eager to do so at first chance.
Especially considering her exotic appearance. She was something magical. And men loved magic.

At the smile from the other frei her lips widened and she slipped a bit closer, something cautious but inquisitive in her movements. When his hand was offered the pale wings upon her back practically hummed with happiness and the full rune pulsed a comforting blue. “I am Revontulet,” she said softly, her voice always just a bit softer than it should be, a careful ploy to ensure people leaned in to listen to her. Certainly the aurora’s tone was stronger than a whisper however. She was not overly cruel!
Slipping her hand into his, Ren moved closer that the stretch of their arms, brushing her thumb over his curiously. He seemed warm, but not overtly so. Perhaps it had something to do with the way he looked, so bright and effervescent. His colours were...well, they weren’t what she preferred, but they were lovely all the same, pale and acceptable.
“Bad men?” the frei questioned curiously. Doucette had mentioned bad men to her before, but she’d not elaborated enough for the girl to understand what she was looking out for or what the importance of avoiding it was. How bad was bad? What did bad look like? Why was it bad?
The concept confused the woman. She’d seen bad men in her movies, but they often turned out to be misunderstood, or the good guy took care of things in the end. This resulted in her not caring overly much over the concern of ‘bad men’ that could ‘take advantage’. What was an advantage?

"Nice to meet you, Revontulet." The Frei replied, giving the R in her name a gentle roll. It was a fun name, a lively one and very different to what he was used to. Unlike her, he was not so soft spoken. His voice carried out well and far, just like rays of light from the morning sun.
Luka held his hand still for Revontulet. There was something about her demeanor that was quite captivating. She definitely had a way with people that was different than what he was used to.
"Yes, bad men." He paused for a moment, trying to figure out the best way to explain the concept to her of the dangers of being alone at night. "They may grab you like this," he explained, moving his hands to grab tightly but not painfully at Ren's wrists before quickly letting go. "They will do things that make you uncomfortable. Maybe it'll be their voice or actions, but they will have bad things planned for you." He gave Ren a moment to process what he'd said before continuing. "Sometimes, you won't even notice that they're bad until they've done something to you."
He held out his empty hands to her before wrapping his fingers around her wrists again. "This kind of touch is bad right? You don't like it because you can't protect yourself if you can't use your hands." He opened his hands and moved one hand to grab her arm. Again, the grip was firm enough to keep her from breaking free but gentle enough that it wouldn't harm her. "They may grab you like this as well. There are many ways to grab a person if you're trying to do something to them." He held out his hands for her in case she wanted to grab his wrists as well.
"Of course they could grab you by your hair too."
Luka paused for a moment before a light bulb went off in his head. Forming a fist with his hand, he raised his pointer and middle finger to form a 'V' shape."But you can defend yourself by stabbing them in they eye like this to make them let you go." He brought the 'V' shaped fingers close to his eyes before chuckled. "But, I don't think you'll ever need to do that."

The newborn waited and watched the other’s actions with curiosity apparent in her bright gaze. A slight frown curved the pale expanse of her lips but there was no other sign to show that she felt one way or another about his discussion.
It was not until the boy mentioned that a bad person might grab her hair that she moved backwards as far as she could, eyes widening with unhappiness. “No. Don’t touch my hair.” Ren reached a pale hand to her soft locks and looped a few strands about her thin fingers. The way the flesh peeked through the hair looked almost like stars dotting a blue-green sky.
“Luka,” Revontulet started, his name like a treasured word on her lips. She had a way of saying names differently than other words, as if they were the most important thing. Moving closer to him and regaining the intimacy between them, Revon tilted her head just so to look up at him through her lashes. “I like this.” With his wrists offered she reached out to take them, abandoning her hair in preference of contact with another frei. “So how is it bad men, if I like it?”
Ren’s lips frowned again as she looked down at her hands on his wrists, fingers never idle as they explored slowly, gently. “Don’t you like touch?” The frei looked up at him again as she moved her hands up his arms, the questions open and honest in those deep blue eyes.

The Satyr's brow arched ever so gently as she mentioned rather enjoying having her wrists hold. There was something strangely calming about the sensation of having her delicate fingers wrapped around his own wrists. Smile fading, his hands deftly broke from Revontulet's grasp and snapped onto her wrists, taking them in a tight grip. He pulled her body close to his own before murmuring in her ear. "The bad men will do this but they won't let you go no matter how much you ask."
Letting go of her wrists again, he gave her a warm smile. "There is good touch and bad touch. If a person you like does it, sometimes it's not a bad touch. It can be, but more often than not, it's usually a good touch. If someone you don't know grabs you, it's more likely to be a bad touch. When you don't feel safe, that's when you know it's a bad touch." Stretching out his arms above his head, he chuckled. "I love to touch things. There's nothing quite like the feeling the coarse texture of an old tree's bark or the warm heat of a kitten's breath."
Frankly, there was nothing Luka loved more than touching and experiencing things. "So, where might you be headed tonight Revontulet?"

The frei let out a soft gasp as the satyr grabbed her wrists and pulled her small frame against his own, the slightest of pale rose blushes forming across her cheeks. Although the sound had come from her, it was more an intake of breath, the sort that is taken once something exciting is about to happen. There was no sound of fear or shock in the tone of air passing her lips and the aurora made no effort to struggle from his grasp as he leaned in to whisper in her ear.
Revontulet was dubious about whether she'd even ask someone to stop. She liked his closeness, the way his scent was so much stronger now that he was leaning into her. The feeling of being pinned against the satyr felt almost comforting, like the world was very distant behind her, a concept instead of something real. Real was the touch, the way his fingers pressed against her rather firm flesh and the breath of his voice that made her hair tickle against her ear.
But she said nothing as he lectured her, his voice sure in his statements. No need to continue a rebuttal that would gain her nothing in the end. When he smiled upon letting her go the aurora gave him instead only a neutral expression, the corners of her lips forming the slightest of frowns as if she were contemplating something very seriously inside that silly head of hers. And contemplating Ren was, until his next question broke into her thoughts and she blinked up at him with wide blue eyes, startled out of herself.
"Headed?" she echoed, for a moment not quite understanding the intention of his words. Finally Revon's brain caught up to her and those coral lips turned up into a gentle smile. "Oh, I don't really have a plan. I am just exploring. I want to do something new."

The Satyr did not catch the Aurora's slight frown.
"Something new...?" He echoed her words, thinking of what new things the Frei could be up to.
There were quite a few places in the area that were still open that he could take her to see that would probably be new experiences for her. There was a 24-hour arcade on 6th street that had the best root beer he's ever tried and on 8th there was even a small garden park. The Frei's expression lit up as he remembered a small place he'd been meaning to visit.
"Have you played putt-putt before Revontulet?" If he remembered correctly, there was an outdoor miniature golf course a block over that was merely fenced off at night. It would be quite easy for the two of them to just fly over and play a couple of the courses. "Or, do you know what putt putt is?"

"Putt-putt?" Revontulet echoed, her tone carrying the confusion of a newborn unsure of what he was referring to.
For a moment the girl thought about it, her bottom lip getting a little nibble as thin brows knit together over bright eyes before they seemed to clear with comprehension and the aurora let out a soft oh! "Do you mean when the boat goes across the water and it makes a little noise like puut-puut-puut-puut?"
The grin that settled upon Ren's lips showed that she was rather proud of herself for having figured out what he was talking about. Despite her ability to communicate well, there was still much the newborn hadn't picked up on and she was more than happy to learn about it with others.
Reaching out, her fingers seeking just one of his wrists to rest against rather that grasp, the girl looked up into his warm eyes. "I am not a big fan of the boats, but if Luka likes it then I will do it. I would like to do something with Luka." Her voice lowered gently with the last sentence, as if the trees around them could be spying on their conversation.
