    WHO: Revontulet (kitten), Zul (Chrystali)
WHEN: Late morning, not yet noon.
    WHERE: Gambino Planetarium
WEATHER: Warm, promising to be hot later.

The demon gazed out over the impressively sized building, pursing his lips. He still wasn't sure this was the best idea - he sorely wanted to bring Rivener and not go by himself - but the entire point of not bringing Rivener was that he could get him a gift without him knowing. Zul was not on the up-and-up of all things space, and he figured if he was to learn anything and lend more knowledge to the gift he had in mind, he'd have to take steps to learn about it himself. It wasn't something that'd been taught when he'd been 'home schooled' and his woman was vaguely flippant about the whole thing since it was no matter of not knowing for her, but...it was a whole new idea, to him. Space.

Folding his arms over his chest, he knew he ought to just go in and do...whatever it is people did at places like this. He wasn't going to learn from osmosis.

It had been a few days since Revontulet had visited that place with Doucette.

After days of listlessly staring at her picture frame with rotating images of the aurora upon them, the guardian had finally decided she'd had enough of the behavior and cajoled the frei out into the wild...err..public. If Ren was going to be so absorbed and obsessed with her origin, then giving the girl an opportunity to experience more of it would certainly not be a wasted endeavor.

And it had not been.

Hours had been spent drifting through the planetarium, the young one's bright, blue gaze seeming to swallow everything and reflect each tiny star with her wide intensity. One could have experienced the wonder of the whole universe in the aurora's expression.

Not to fret if you'd missed round one though, for the frei had become a familiar face to the ticket-greeter over the following week, and Doucette had grown tired of seeing the same exhibition over and over again. With the recent gift of a year-long pass clutched in her fingers, Revontulet had taken off, her wing a tizzy with excitement and anticipation of once more being enveloped by the dark room sprinkled with lights like fairies and the enchanting, distant glow of far-off universes and super nova.

Space.

Ren was experiencing her first real love, and the promise was too great for her to notice the bright, horned sigel a short distance off, a figure she would have normally gone to great lengths to introduce herself to and inspect.

The demon likely would have lingered for several more minutes in quiet indecision if not for the wave of color that crossed his vision. Flicking his attention towards the unusually but beautifully colored seafoam and teal blue against the concrete jungle of the immediate area, Zul found himself beholding a Frei he'd not yet met. She was beautiful in the way that whispered of caution upon approach, in the way ice was beautiful but dangerous, in the way the clear winter sky could be beautiful but breath-stealing in its cold. Intrigued in place of the other's missed attention, the Sigel floated after her at a short distance, inspecting and musing over who she could be.

He had no answer as she neared the ticket booth, dangerously close to being out of his ability to stop her and as such, he bobbed to her side and got a good look at her sharp profile. "Good morning," he greeted her in hopes to divert her attention for a moment. "Pardon my interruption -- I couldn't help but have need to introduce myself upon seeing you." The demon did well to keep a smile intact, not knowing if this chilly beauty would be of sound mind and reception to his sudden appearance. "My name is Zul, and if I might be so bold, I'd be thrilled if I might have your company for a bit of a tour of the Planetarium...?"
PostPosted: Wed Jan 08, 2014 6:45 pm

As engaged as she was with her mission at hand, the aurora had not only blatantly by-passed the sigel's presence, but also did not notice his approach until the words had passed his lips. This startled her slightly, as evidenced by the sudden jump in her wings and the widening of her neon gaze.

"Oh," was all Ren could manage for a moment, her lips slightly rounded as the soft, feminine sound was produced, lame as it was, while she struggled to remember how to return the greeting. It was almost as if the poor frei had simply forgotten how to talk, or had reverted to those early months where she'd not spoken to anyone, stoic and studying in her silence.

It only took a moment or two, really a blink, before her expression had softened and a small smile was curving on her pale coral lips. "Good morning," Revontulet returned, hoping her voice did not betray her eagerness. She was still young, still learning about herself and her reactions. It would not be seemly to appear to be overly enthusiastic about a sigel speaking with her, though the glowing pulse of her rune would give her away easily for any observant eye.

"Zul," she echoed, that all too popular new-born trick of route repetition to instill memory. His name didn't seem to get altered upon her tongue, though she held on to the final letter, letting it hum against her teeth before releasing it. "I'm Revontulet." The aurora leaned towards him, drifting with the little flutter of the pale wings upon her back, the ever oblivious of personal space bubbles. "My company? Of course," the frei replied, her tone slipping to a higher pitch with the anticipation of having someone to share her planetarium with.

There was something about the vastness of space, even in a tiny theater, that made one feel very small and alone standing there (or floating as it were). Although she had told Doucette not to worry about her attending on her own, and she honestly didn't mind the down time to herself, the prospect of being next to someone else was tantalizing. "I would be very happy if Zul would join me."

"Revontulet," he repeated her name flawlessly, a byproduct of having spent so much time with a Frenchwoman. "What a stunning name! Every bit as beautiful as you are." The demon smiled warmly, rather taken with the type of cold that seemed to surround her. It wasn't the dangerous, biting cold of Roux and himself, but something calm and soothing. He practically felt awed just being in her presence, making him terribly curious what she was made up of. "Who is your Guardian?" he asked after a moment, briefly glancing around. It was unusually to meet a Frei without a human in tow, but she seemed rather alone.

"It would be my pleasure to accompany you then, fair Revontulet." Zul smiled and offered his arm to her to be her escort, even though they weren't far from the entrance counter. "What brings you here?" Maybe her Guardian worked here; maybe she was meeting someone. They had a lot of open pages to explore, and for once, the demon was quite interested in filling in the blanks of this opalescent beauty.

At the outside counter, he paid for his entry, pausing with intent to pay for her, unaware of her pass. "May I?"

The slightest of coral-pale blushes grew warm upon her pale cheeks, the moon-kissed skin flattered by the hint of warmth that looked almost cool itself in such a washed colour. The usual deep red of a blush would have been entirely unbecoming of such porcelain skin, but this blush seemed to make her glow in a different way than her rune did. "Thank you," she said politely, letting her gaze slide away in a somewhat demure fashion.

Once Zul offered his arm Ren's gaze flickered back up to the demon's and a smile of rather brilliant proportions grew upon her lips, crinkling her features with delight. Gently she slipped her fingers into the crook of his arm and pressed her shoulder to his, letting him float a bit higher than herself. "My guardian is Doucette. I believe she is writing...lesson plans?" The aurora's tone rose lightly at the end, questioning her own words. They seemed right enough, after all, for Doe spent much of her free time grading papers or writing lesson plans. It was simply that Revontulet was not 100% certain this was factual information, but didn't feel compelled to offer additional options to cover her bases.

As the two of them moved towards the ticket booth, Ren let her fingers brush idly across the demon's warm skin, enjoying the sensation. He was very well built, though if someone had said this phrase out loud she would have been rather confused by it. The musculature of Zul's arm intrigued her greatly, but she did attempt not to make it appear as if she were too absorbed in the touch, focusing her attention instead on his face and lips and the words he was saying.

"Oh," she breathed, wings lifting and shivering slightly upon her back before folding themselves back up prettily there. The action was akin to walking out into the cold weather suddenly, unexpected and bracing, and yet somewhat enjoyable all the same. "I love space." Revontulet seemed to frown for a moment after the words left her mouth, her tongue running against the back of her teeth before she found a better string of words to express herself, "I like being here, watching comets and seeing stars and most of all...the aurora." She had learned a lot about the aurora since Rivener had given her the picture frame, devouring every bit of information like a malnourished child.

Zul's next question confused her for a moment, until she realized that they had made it to the ticket counter and he was attempting to give the person in the booth money for her entry. A small struggle seemed to go on just behind the moonstone's eyes as she tried her best to decide whether she should accept his generous and gentlemanly offer, as a lady should, or inform him of the pass clutched in her free fingers. "Thank you so much Zul, but I already have this," Ren replied suddenly, before the sigel could pay. The season's pass was held up with a fond but somewhat guilty-looking smile.

For a moment, amusement flickered through his sky-blue eyes, one dark brow arching in mirth. "Doe? That's fantastic." Zul chuckled to himself, a low sound of rolling smoke and velvet. To think that the lovely red-head who found herself in the closet when they'd first met would land such a composed, collected Frei was something that delighted him internally. Of course, the demon wouldn't share the information of the Guardian's blunder, but the idea that Revontulet was in her care was most fortuitous to him.

"The aurora?" he repeated, catching the pause and inflection on the word. Was that part of what made her? It seemed likely; to the Sigel, he could see the cold, distant land of eternal winter in her, though he wasn't sure where her glossy skin came from. Zul chuckled and nodded his understanding, his warm fingers light over the hand that held his arm. Her skin was unusually cool, another thing that lended to the idea of her make up. "I've an important person who is quite tied to the night sky," he divulged, pride and warmth in his voice, "and I think it's most fortunate to have met you, since you feel so strongly about it."

Pausing as she procured the pass, the Sigel laughed softly, bowing his head. "I should have known better, hm? That's wonderful. Perhaps I should look into purchasing one as well." Paying his way, he thanked the attendant and again offered his arm to Revontulet, settling with ease to float at her pace. As they entered the large building, Zul didn't pay as much mind to his surroundings as he usually would have, mostly engrossed in the Frei at his side. He was only vaguely aware of the shop fronts and the lobby doors that likely lead to different parts of lecture halls, knowing that he was unversed in this world and that the female at his side was more knowledgeable than he.

Turning his head to put the full brunt of his attention upon the Moonstone, he gave her a slight smile that could have been categorized as sheepish. "I've no idea where to start, even. Perhaps you, who knows more than I, might be my guide?"
PostPosted: Sat Jun 14, 2014 6:40 pm

"You know her?" The aurora's question came with an uplift of curiosity, still reserved, as if the information were interesting but nothing useful to her. Despite this, the way in which Ren tiled her head, ensuring his reply would reach her ear with the least amount of resistance, was evidence enough that the Demon's reply was rather more important than she let on. Though why that was the case her body language did not let on.

At the touch of his fingers over his hand, Revon's wings gave a little hum of delight. The breeze caused her hair to stir for a moment before falling about her shoulders once more, her natural curl somewhat augmented by a device Doucette had shown her recently. "An important person?" the frei echoed softly, looking up at the profile of the Sigel, wondering who could be considered such to him. "They also like the night sky?" Ren had not fully understood what he meant by 'tied'.

His words distracted her from her thoughts on this mysterious other man however, and the aurora's expression lit up in almost a childish way before she forced it to smooth into something more reserved, but certainly not completely contained. "It would be my honor, Zul."

Revontulet's cheeks felt warm and somewhat odd as she motioned with her free hand towards her favorite of the gift shops, a smaller one which focused more on the unique than on the garish. With a steady glow from her rune, deriving from her delight in being referred to as a guide for another despite her young age, she had to pause a moment and tamper it down before the two could enter the darker corridors. "I like to save the aurora for last," she said to Zul, keeping the tones of her voice low, almost secretive, despite there being no insistence upon silence in the planetarium, "Is there something you want to see most? I can show you to it." Ren's eyes glittered like two stars in the dark room, the planets drifting overhead and a man's voice explaining each in turn.

"I had the pleasure of meeting her before, yes," he mused, his words warm and tinged with amusement to remember the poor red-head floundering into the closet. "She's very charming." If he noticed Revontulet's seeming disinterest, he did not let on, or perhaps was used to the behavior. Either way, he was not discontent with it, smiling easily still and floating amicably with the Frei.

At the gentle inquiry, the demon tipped his head in confirmation, elaborating since she asked so politely. "He has the essence of the night sky and the soul of a scorpion. He's wonderful - his name is Rivener. Should you ever meet, I would hope you'd become fast friends." Zul's expression was momentarily distant, but the smile he wore was almost intimate in its gentleness, his gaze fond though fixated on nothing in particular. His thoughts were briefly far away with the slumbering Sigel, but his entire purpose of being there was for the same reason. "He's a Sigel like me, and no doubt he'd think you as beautiful as I do."

His fingers gently brushed over the hand on his arm in gratitude with her sweet response, his focus returning to her quickly and with admiration. She was smart in a way most Frei's were childish, a welcome change.

"That is most agreeable." Zul did not mind waiting to see the fantastic aurora the Frei spoke of, especially since it meant so much to her. His own voice was naturally low but he kept the smokey tone even lower, private for Revontulet's ears only. The demon granted the display around them a passing glance, interested but not exactly held. He'd learn about the planets and all that jazz in due time, but he had a purpose just then, one prompted by the delicate Frei at his side. "My Rivener, he can hear the stars," he explained, a small lilt of wonder in his low voice. "I'd like to start there -- perhaps constellations?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 10, 2014 3:44 pm

Revontulet nodded to herself, but she made no further comments on her guardian. Internally, she was pleased that Doucette was maintaining a good image for the two of them. It wouldn't do for people to be readily distrustful or distasteful of the aurora due to a bad taste in their mouth from the redhead.

Rivener

The name caught Ren by surprise and her lips popped open with a soft exclamation. "Ah! I know him!"

For a moment the girl's expression furrowed, turning inward as she thought back to those first few months (or were they weeks?) when Doucette had first brought her home. Rivener had not been the first raevan she'd met, and not even the second, but he felt the most memorable of those first encounters.

Of the first, there had of course been Anya, the regal spider frei who had kept her at arms length and hardly spoken with her. Not quite the first impression the girl could have hoped for. Following were Cesc and Lulu, two different interactions, both slow and lazy to be brought to the forefront of her mind. But then there was Rivener. The sigel had sat with her, let her touch and explore, and had seemed genuinely interested in her.

Slowly her expression cleared and Revontulet's gaze refocused on Zul, "Yes, I met him very early. We watched Maltese Falcon together. Afterwards, he sent me many pictures of the aurora borealis to watch and enjoy." With her shoulders squared and back, wings high upon her back and catching the dull glow of the exhibits around them, she was clearly proud to be owner of this small tid-bit of information.

Perhaps she was not as wholly unchildish as he thought her to be.

"He can speak with stars?" The question was echoed with curiosity. How exactly did people speak with stars? And what did speaking with these stars do? Silent though they were, the questions were bright and open in her eyes and the way she leaned into Zul while awaiting the answer. Despite the distraction of the topic, Ren managed to steer the two of them into the constellation area. Some blues and greens, others pink and red - the colors splashed across one side showing star formations (or stellar nurseries as she whispered to him). Around the rest of the area were displays of star sizes, colors and stages.

The ceiling was arched, curved to show some, but not all, of the constellations as they moved across the sky.

The Aurora's reaction to the Scorpion's name made Zul give pause, a small smile of curious amusement curving his lips. "Oh?" he offered, hoping she'd expand on her knowledge of his Rivener. She seemed to have to pull the memory from somewhere deep, giving him the impression it was some time ago or when her memories weren't quite sticking, but she did indulge him and share her experience.

The demon's smile warmed into something more touched and filled with pride, nodding his head singularly, thoughtful. "He does love movies - and he's very considerate. He's always taken a liking to those like him - I am glad you two met and he has impressed you so." Her body language alone seemed to speak loudly of her thoughts of the dark Sigel. He made a mental note to ask Rivener about her later. No doubt the Scorpion would be animated about the lovely Frei and their kinship.

Zul again tipped his head in acknowledgment. "He feeds from the stars. They are apparently quite chatty." He chuckled softly, turning his eyes to the colorful displays. He wondered if clusters of stars were easier to understand than singulars, or vice versa. Even so, he read over the information presented, memorizing the formations to pick out in the night sky himself, giving the Frei a look that said he was fascinated by her knowledge. It was certainly more than he possessed! "But what of you?" he murmured, as though his voice would disturb the faux stars in the domed sky. "Do you find kinship to more than the aurora? What other joys do you take from your experiences?"

Turning his eyes to hers, he gave her an almost apologetic smile. "Forgive me if my questions seem droll - I never had this experience, of learning about what I was made of, being close to it. I can't imagine the sensation, so I'm curious."

Revontulet nodded along with the demon's words, agreeing with all the little comments he'd made about the scorpion. Although she could hardly put him into the category of friend, Rivener had made such a concerned effort on her behalf, and she had appreciated his gestures perhaps more than he would know.

It was a little sad now, thinking back on it, that she had not seen him since that first encounter. Surely this new connection to Zul would allow the moonstone to connect further with others of her kind and keep in contact with those she'd already met.

"I have never had such an experience," Ren confessed of her own feeding habits. There had never been any chatter going on, as far as she was aware. To be fair, if the moon suddenly decided to tell her about its day, she might find the experience rather unnerving!

Although her head turned slightly towards him, the scallop of her pale ear tilted in the direction of the smokey voice, it took a moment for the gaze to follow, distracted as it was by a cluster of blues and green that reminded her strongly of her own make up and the way her hair looked when she fed.

The questions gave Ren pause, for she never considered not feeling a kinship to what one was made of. Looking over him, the aurora could not specifically pinpoint Zul's origins, but certainly he knew his own biology and could find some way to experience such a thing? But Ren had never had the experience of being close to the aurora either, so what was the best way to respond?

"I am quite sure nothing you could say or ask would ever be considered droll, Zul," the aurora said with a light laugh and a shake of her head. "But I'm not sure the best way to answer your question. I enjoy everything about the night sky and the cosmos especially, and I favor the aurora due to my hair, but I have never seen the aurora in person."

Ren gave a little shrug and steered the sigel into her favorite room, dedicated to the awe-inspiring and beautiful that the world could display. Here the aurora danced on the walls in a variety of beautiful colors over a cold landscape. "This is as close as I have come. I'm not sure one can have a kinship with a movie?"

The demon cast her a smile, enjoying seeing her emotions and thoughts flit so clearly over her porcelain face. He wouldn't quite call her an open book, persay, but there was little question to what was going on with her reactions. "You're very kind, Revontulet. And for what it's worth, your hair is beautiful. You evoke thoughts of a cold clear winter's day, though I'm not sure it's accurate for you."

Her question prompted the Sigel to laugh, light and amused. "I suppose not, but if it's all you know, then it's the comfort and connection it brings that matters." She looked at home in that room, though the colors seemed pale and inanimate compared to their living representation near him. It brought a natural thought to him, one that might have been construed as forward, but that he felt he should offer all the same. "We should go, then, sometime -- I would take you, if you wanted. Your lovely Guardian as well, or your friends if you preferred -- to see the Aurora." He glanced at the walls, the beauty of what was depicted, but he knew it was just another movie. It wasn't real.

"It might be a fun vacation sometime. You really should experience it with your own eyes."

Upon entering the room, the aurora gently disengaged from the sigel and slipped a few inches away towards one wall. Although she remained in hearing distance to his kind words, there was always a moment Ren shared between herself and the dancing lights. As if she could absorb them into herself, the girl took a long, deep breath and closed her eyes.

For a moment her rune brightened with content before she turned back to Zul with a grin wide and warm as the sun on the snow. Reaching out to him, Revontulet easily looped her arms back into his, wings causing a light puff of a breeze as they gave a short flutter and folded themselves into place.

"We could go sometime? Really?" The frei gasped softly at the idea, holding the air in her chest for a pause as if letting it out would allow the excitement leave her. "There aren't enough words to express how much I would truly enjoy that, Zul."

Cheeks pink with delight, Ren's eyes danced around the room, watching each movie with the fondness one shares with family and close friends. She watched them as if each aurora had a place and a home and a favorite time of night to paint the canvas of the stars. As if, when she did finally see them for herself, she'd see these ones exactly and she would know their names and they would know hers.

They would recognize each other...wouldn't they?
