Who: Anastacia, Doucette, Revontulet, and Zeke
          When: March 27th; 9pm
          Where: Lab 305
Weather: Partially cloudy and cool; only a small amount of starlight peeking through

For once, Zeke was not zipping around the lobby with all the excitement of a sugared up five year old despite what he was at his second job for. A terrible night's sleep, hand in hand with an utterly too long and too exhausting day at work was keeping the vet sitting reasonably still in his chosen armchair in the Lab's lobby. One foot still bobbed up and down to the raver's made up rhythm and he still stole glances to the windows that lined the wall to his right, but Zeke's eagerness was noticeably muted if one could look back on the pick up's of Lab past. For that she was rather grateful. Although she had long been used to her Guardian's constant motion, it was a nice change of pace to see him sitting placidly - if not tiredly - in a chair for the past twenty minutes since they arrived. He hadn't spoke too much to her since they took their respective places in the Lab's welcoming area, so the only point of contention Anastacia had spoken out about was the several yawns Zeke had made in that time.

When he did, she soon followed after and it was getting both old and annoying.

"Sorry," Zeke said with a smile he was fighting to contain the moment he finished his newest yawn. He dropped his hand from his mouth and rubbed the arm of the chair, chuckling as his Raevan gave him that look over the top of the fashion magazine she had in hand.

"There's coffee in the cafeteria. Why don't you go have a cup already?" She frowned when he shook his head.

"Once we're done here we'll be going home and I'll be going to bed. If I have coffee now, I'm gonna be wired. D'you really want me to be up all night?"

Her expression deepened with the way he smiled at her when he spoke - as though this were just another joke - but she had to admit he did have a point. The last thing she wanted was to feel his footsteps as he wandered around their apartment or hear the noises he was sure to make doing who knows what while she was trying to sleep. All the same, she didn't answer his question outright. Instead the spider queen slid back beneath her magazine's pages and posed a question of her own.

"Will she be here soon?"

"I think so."

"Mm."

Doucette was trying to remind herself how to put one foot in front of the other, and boy, was that proving to be a challenge! When the call had come she’d been minding her own business, shut up in her room as quiet as a mouse with Liam bustling about the living room preparing to leave. Finally the man had found something to do with his time! How he had managed to stay on the island for as long as he did without going mad was a mystery to the redhead, but she wasn’t going to look a gift-horse in the mouth.

-----

A sweet, sisterly smile had spread its way automatically across her lips as he left and she wished him a safe journey. As usual his receding form did not reply but she hadn’t cared. There was silence in her home again! A gentle, lulling silence which was carried on the lapping waves of the ocean on the white sands and through the rustling of tree branches against the roof of her home. It had been so hard for so long, but now things seemed almost normal with her new job occupying her time during the day and Liam off doing whatever at night and sleeping it off in some corner of the home. Often he didn't come home for day at a time. "Business trips" he said.

Except one room.

Liam knew the back bedroom was off limits, which was typically acceptable due to the longer distance he’d have to stagger to get there. Why it was closed off he wasn’t sure. A long, long while back the woman had painted everything white and bought a number of items that would suit a bedroom. From time to time he’d watch her wander back there, staring through the doorframe with a far-off look and then close the door with a sigh and go back to her business. Besides a few half-hearted attempts, Doucette never managed to decorate the room. It looked unwelcoming to Liam except for a few bits and bobs that answered none of the puzzle.

-----

But now Doe hurried onwards, stumbling over her own feet when she wasn’t careful to watch where she was going. Now there would be a reason to decorate, a reason to make the room warm, welcoming, happy!

It had been rather late when Zeke had called her, and she’d all but sobbed and hung up on him in her excitement. If only the ferries had better night schedules, the Irish woman would have come sooner! When the door to the lab open she appeared all in a blur. Red hair a well-frizzed mess, blue eyes wide and searching, cheeks a flushed red to match parted, panting lips.

I’m here. I made it. I’m here,” Doe gasped, doubling over for a moment with her hand to one side before straightening and trying to tame her curls. “I’m here,” she said again. As if there was nothing else to say. As if she were practicing to say that every day for the rest of her life.

The door burst open not long after Anya had posed her question. Both man and Raevan immediately looked toward the source of the noise and intrusion, but it was only the human who rose from his seat to greet the red-haired tornado that was now doubled over in their midst.

"Doucette!" The overall tiredness the raver had been displaying appeared to evaporate in that moment; his eyes brightened, his smile showed on his face, and he jogged to the woman's side - reaching a hand out to help her and also give her a touch of welcome. "You okay?" It was quite plain that she was as here as she said, and she looked just as Zeke remembered her, save the different clothing. That curly red hair, those big blue eyes...it was Doucette alright, and all in once piece too.

From her spot at the group of arm chairs and sofas, Anastacia had put down her magazine to inspect the situation. A frown had touched her lips from the moment just after the red-haired woman had thrown herself in, but it didn't deepen as she caught sight of Dou from behind her Guardian's eager flitting. She remembered this one from what felt like forever ago. The red hair with its many curls, and although her eyes were hard to clearly make out from here, she remembered how watery they were; almost as if the woman were about to dissolve into tears at the drop of a hat. Other than those two things, however, the only thing Anastacia could say she remembered about the woman was the little vial she had let Anastacia hold and the liquid that had been inside it. It had been a deep, velvety blue streaked with lighter blues and greens, and no matter how hard she had shaken the vial, the colors never mixed or separated. It had been a funny thing, but it had fallen out of sight and thus out of the spider queen's mind until now, and it didn't linger too much longer now once Zeke started zipping about and speaking again.

"D'you need a glass of water or anything?"

Now that Doucette was here, the prospect of what was to come had given Zeke a shot of adrenaline. There was a Raevan beyond the lobby doors who was wanting to go home with Doucette and Zeke, for the life of him, could not wait to meet her. From his reading of the Lab's files, there had never been a Raevan with a stone for a soul before. What this one would look like because of it and her Essence was a puzzlement but also intriguing as well. Surely she - and she was a she - would be beautiful, but what would a stone and an aurora look like when fused together and given a breathing form? Well, they would all find out soon enough, but only after the lucky lady taking the Aurora Raevan home was able to stand on her own two feet!

It took the woman only a moment to catch her breath, a grin growing upon her lips and dimpling cheeks which had thinned slightly over the last year or so. It was hardly noticeable, but the woman had lost a bit of her lazy-pudge now that she’d taken up extra working hours. “Oh, Zeke, it is so nice to see you again. How long has it been?” The redhead felt disconnected from the rest of the Lab. She had shut herself away on her island and tended to her work in a way that ensured she’d not run into many people asking where her Raevan was. So much time had passed and no messages had been sent her way.

There had been times where Doe had picked up the phone to dial the Lab, a hundred questions bouncing around in her mind. Every time she had hung up, turned away from the phone and convinced herself there wasn’t a problem. Her encounter with Rivener so long ago had worried her deeply, but Doe still felt confident that she hadn’t been forgotten. That her Raevan was still waiting for her as she was waiting for it.

And here was the proof! The proof that all the waiting had paid off. At the offer Doucette shook her head. Water was the last thing she needed right now. All the Irish woman wanted to do was keep running, dart from door to door and check every room till she found where her new charge was waiting. Some say that when you wait so long there’s no mind in waiting a little longer, but Doe could not have disagreed more! Her heart thrummed in her chest even after her breathing had returned to normal. Wide eyes, darkened slightly with anxiety and excitement, darted here and there like a bird looking for a safe place to perch. One sweep had them settling on Anya. She looked so...well, she looked the same! But there was something quite different about the Frei that even absentminded Doe could notice from across the way. Time had been good to the purple-haired spider.

Hello Anya,” the redhead called cautiously, a welcoming smile on her lips in case the Frei didn’t remember her. Ready as she was to barrel her way past Zeke, manners were still manners!

It had been so long since Zeke had seen Doucette that the vet didn't notice that the woman before him had thinned a shade since their last meeting.

"Way too long," he said, giving her a hug of welcoming. "You look great!"

To his eyes, she did. Currently a little disheveled, certainly, but still good and still pretty. Still very much Doucette, which was always a positive thing. When he stepped back from her and she declined his offer of water, the vet wanted to voice a "you sure?" but did not do so as the redheaded woman immediately greeted his ward. Zeke's eyes followed Dou's and when they reached the chair Anya had been left sitting in, he found the Frei already aloft and giving her head a little bow.

"Good evening." She would never not be one for formalities and by this time greeting another with her style of cool politeness was just automatic. The Frei had put aside her magazine and had her arms at her sides, though her hands crossed over before her ribbon and she held her right hand in her left. Her wings flared out to the sides as she spoke and remained that way even as her words came to an end and she didn't add to them. All six of her eyes were fixated on Dou expectantly, but when Zeke gave a chuckle from his spot next to the curly haired human, the spider queen gave her man a moment to frown at him. What was so funny now?

"She's not one for words," the vet said by way of apology in case Doucette was expecting a more vocal Frei than the one she had met years ago. "She says only what she has to, when she has to." It was the best way to describe her and her preference for silence.

"I don't need to say much to get my point across," the Virus Raevan quipped before turning her attention back to the redhead with a slight toss and raise of her leg-crowned head. "Unlike some."

Zeke laughed lightly despite the jab, but didn't have a witty comeback in that moment. "You remember Doucette, don't you Anya? We met her at Vivi's bakery a few years back. She owned vial you were inspecting when we were there."

"I remember."

Zeke’s hug was returned warmly, if a little awkwardly as it had not been expected by the red-head. “As do you!” Doe replied, a blush creeping up the back of her neck and warming her cheeks from the compliment.

At Anya’s simple reply and expectant expression, Doucette had opened her mouth to say something further, but the other’s chuckle brought her up short and a puzzled expression crossed her features. Perhaps it was that she was not particularly ‘in gear’ for chatting at the moment, her mind on other things, but the Frei’s simple reply had been more than acceptable in Doucette’s opinion. Watching the two of them banter back and forth reminded her of Vivi’s so long ago when Anya had been so young. The spider woman had certainly matured. And yet the way they spoke to each other was so similar it seemed very little had changed. It made Doe smile to watch the interaction.

Mention of the vial brought the Irish woman full circle, however, and her eyes brightened slightly at the topic. “I...don’t mean to be rude,” Doe started, a little breathless despite herself. Hands came together before her and short fingers twisted with themselves, a mindless, nervous action as if it could calm her down. “But speaking of my vial...when will I meet...them?” Not knowing what gender her new charge would be, Doucette stumbled over finding a pronoun before settling on something neutral.

Zeke flushed a little at the returned compliment, but didn't speak in regards to it even though his heavily modest side wanted to deny it. His rational side also wanted to deny it, for in the vet's mind he must look the part of a tired man. Zeke rubbed one eye as though he were clearing something in it, but in fact he was making sure there wasn't some shadowy bag just beneath. This quickly came to an end when the redheaded woman spoke to him, and Zeke immediately dropped his hand and stood at attention as she spoke. Her question brightened the smile on his face.

"Well I think we could do that right now, if Anya doesn't mind us leaving her presence for a bit."

Anastacia flicked her wings with some impatience as her man spoke. She looked at the two humans in turn - her expression neutral but discerning - and nodded.

"Go ahead." She had wanted a few minutes more of Doucette's attention, to soak in the woman's gaze, but with her words to the spider queen's guardian she knew then that wasn't like to happen. It was a little annoying, but she couldn't say she had been wholly ignored. She had won herself some awed looks and for now that would suffice. The Frei did not yet turn her back on the pair however, and instead remained aloft as Zeke clapped and rubbed his hands together and gestured toward his desk at the back of the lobby.

"Well then that's settled. Just let me grab the folder with the paperwork and we'll head to your Raevan's room!"

As soon as he spoke he was off, and the exhaustion he had been feeling was likely not to be apparent. Zeke had that bounce in his step again and the light was in his eyes, and when he reached the desk he did not stop moving; grabbing the folder quickly and knocking over his cup of pens and pencils as he did so.

"Oops," he said, just as quickly, and righted the cup but left the assorted odds and ends where they lay. Zeke looked to Dou as he moved from that spot to the door that lead into the hall, opening it wide so she could pass through before him. "Ladies first!"

As he waited, Zeke looked to Anya and the spider queen knew what was coming before the vet's pierced lips even parted.

"No," she said to him, the 'o' in her word extending slightly as her eyes found Doucette, "thank you." As always, she would wait here for the "triumphant" return and the arrival of this new Raevan with the two who were now departing. She would settle down and pass the time alone - as she preferred - while in the meantime she could finish the article in her magazine without Zeke's yawning interrupting her.

Doucette’s wide blue gaze flickered between Zeke and Anya. Truly, she felt a bit bad being so brash about her question. It was quite unlike the petite woman to so (in her opinion) vehemently voice her wishes, but it felt like ants were crawling under her skin being so tantalizingly close. Every night she dreamed of aurora borealis and moonstones. Once Doe had even rented a car and driven a few short hours to a place famed for their aurora borealis so she could watch them in person. Although she’d seen them plenty of times before, there was something unique and moving about watching them now and knowing they meant something more was coming.

Anya would never cease to be beautiful and exotic in Doucette’s esteem. She would happily heap compliments upon the spider frei at any other moment. Indeed, Doe so liked the spider frei that when Zeke attempted to usher her down the hall the redhead also turned to look inquisitively at Anya. Her simple ‘no’ was received before the woman’s own question could be posed, but she didn’t take offense, assuming it had been a regular conversation between Zeke and his charge many times now.

Still, Doucette couldn’t help but feel a little let down that Anya was not interested in coming with the two of them. Was she simply tired of the group ordeal or was she no longer fascinated by the aurora as she had been when it had been but liquid in a vial? Regardless of Anya’s opinions on the matter, the redhead wasn’t going to pressure her. Instead, with a quick wave of her hand and a warm smile at the frei she disappeared down the hallway, absorbing anything Zeke had to say about the files he’d just gathered.

The colours were calming, nice.

With but the slightest flutter of the thin wings behind her, the frei moved to the window. Although there was little to see through the dark shades of night, she found that these colours, too, were nice. Slender fingers reached out to touch the glass, the softest sound reaching her ears as she did so. The texture was acceptable. Smooth, cool, even a little chilly, though the temperature registered as if from far away. It wasn’t chilly too her, the frei just knew that it was.

Just as she was about to turn away, her reflection was caught in the glass and she paused a moment to look at her features. There was an almost sad but mostly neutral expression upon her features. Electric blues eyes that would give her new owner’s a run for their money were inquisitive and just a hint wide from the inspection. Reaching again, slowly, as if the frei’s hand felt disconnected from her and she needed to plan each move with care, her fingernail tapped at the jewelled ornament upon her head.

Half-way through her second tap she heard something in the hall. One sound was deep, the other airy, breathless. Another effortless flutter of those pale green wings brought her to the door where she listened to the words carefully. It didn’t seem that she tried to imitate them, especially since there was no mouth to watch and emulate, but there was a certain look about her that anyone could tell was rapt attention.

As the sounds grew closer the frei leaned back from the door, a little pucker to her lips and the slightest squint to her eyes before she pushed at the protruding handle. When the door refused to budge she reached for the handle again, shifting her weight into the turning device until it opened and she was floating before a frizzy haired woman and a very colourful man.

Their colours were ok. She preferred others.

The moment Dou was through the door, the explanation started.

"Anya had a bad experience with a newborn one time and it's kinda stuck with her, so that's why she doesn't like to tag along." He offered Dou an apologetic smile, trying to say with his eyes that it wasn't that the spider queen didn't like her or her Raevan. "She'll meet your Raevan when we get back, don't worry. But anyway...let me tell you that we have a little tradition here at Lab. Other than Dr. Kyou, no one has seen your Raevan after...er..." Zeke paused a moment to open the folder and get the newborn's gender. What he saw there made him look to Dou and slyly smile at the shorter woman. "After she was born. So the tradition is, the Guardian is the first person after the fact who gets to see their Raevan. When we get to the room, I'll knock to alert her that we're here and then I'll open the door for you. Once it is, it'll be your show!"

He took up step again, though without his usual bounce on account of his still present tiredness. The room they were going to was farther down the hall than normal on account of the others being cleaned today and tomorrow, but the vet wasn't bothered by that. In fact, he kind of liked it - it gave him time to say everything he had to say without rushing it right at the end. And speaking of things to say...

"Once we're inside, you'll get to spend some time with her. Get a feel for each other, you know? Introduce yourself, sign the paperwork, and - most importantly! - give her a name." He wondered anew what this Raevan of stones and sky looked like and what name Dou would give her. The vet also wondered about what the newborn would be like, and if his own Raevan would be all right around her. So long as this Frei wasn't pushy or forward Anya should be fine, but all the same, he couldn't help but feel a little worry. She had gotten on wonderfully with Ethiriel and Cesc, but those two had been more in-tune with her and her quiet, off-to-the-side personality than most Raevans she had come across. The Virus Frei had a type, that had quickly been made apparent. Zeke hoped this newborn would be that type, as selfish as it felt to admit.

As they drew nearer to their destination the vet did a quick check of what he had just said to make sure he hadn't missed anything. His brain told him no and he felt confident this was true; the aforementioned tradition was very short and to the point after all. At the very least he was certain if Dou had any questions when she met her Moonstone gal, she would pose them to him. Turning his eyes to the woman beside him, her nerves and excitement were apparent and he found himself endeared to her and her jitters. It was all too cute, but before he could inwardly wax about it, the sound of hinges drew his attention forward.

They were but a few steps shy of the door when it opened and a pale-skinned Raevan floated out. Zeke threw an arm out to stop Dou and himself from running into her, but the vet was dead in his tracks when he did and a pair of the bluest eyes he had ever seen cast a glance over him and the woman he was with. The Moonstone Raevan was beautiful to behold. In addition to her striking eyes and moon-kissed skin, the Frei had hair that captured her essence perfectly and had been born with clothes and a ribbon that were simple, but fitting. If her personality didn't fit beside Anya's, her appearance surely would. His face had momentarily slackened by the surprise, but almost quickly his smile had returned - fond and friendly toward this unexpected hallway guest.

"Hello there," he said kindly, dropping the arm he had used to stop Dou and instead placing it atop the redhead's shoulder. He didn't take his eyes off the Frei - drawn now to her wings and their Cesc-like translucence - but leaned his head in toward Doucette and spoke in an awed whisper: "Say hello to your Raevan, Dou."
PostPosted: Fri May 17, 2013 11:07 am

Doucette’s lips twisted in concern at the man’s words. An unfortunate event with another Raevan? And a new born no less! The redhead’s mind raced with the possibilities. She didn’t know many newborns really...were there often complications like that? And like what exactly?! Opening her mouth to further inquire about the incident which would have so completely scarred the poor spider frei, Zeke’s newest addition to the conversation had her mouth hanging open in a different way. A girl. Although she had not spent a great deal of time thinking about the gender of her future charge, there had been something appealing about the image of a beautiful Raevan. Certainly, of all the other Raevan’s Doucette had met, her favourites had all been of the female persuasion. That was not to say the male’s did not have their own appeal, only that there was something so breathtaking about the women she’d met. If her girl was half as amazing then Doe feared she might weep!

So distracted with Doucette with the sudden news that the arm thrust across her was like a mother slamming on the breaks in their car and the Irish woman made an appropriate noise of distress as the region associated with assisting her to breathe was unknowingly assaulted by Zeke’s arm in front of her. “Zeke, what...

Words dropped away, melting like snow in weather too warm as her blue eyes literally paled in comparison to the ones she looked into now. The hand upon her shoulder felt a million miles away to the woman as she gazed at the simple but beautiful creature before her. Transfixed by the luscious swath of hair that seemed to shift in colour much as the aurora had the few times she’d seen it, Doucette found herself at a loss for words. The nervousness Zeke had noticed from her before was ebbing away, replaced by a calm, simple happiness at seeing her Raevan for the first time. The wait had been so long, but it had been worth it. Indeed, those watery eyes seemed a bit more teary than usual and the redhead reached up to pinch her cheeks between two fingers on each side to keep from letting the unnecessary tears spill forward. Oh how she hated her ‘talent’ of crying for no reason! She didn’t even feel like crying, honest! Just the off-handed thought that if this had been a movie it was the type of reunion that would have caused sappy music to break out would have made her tear up in the theatres. The unfairness of it all!

The frei’s wings dipped slightly at the attention given to them, folding in close to her body for a moment before stretching back out to their original position. They were so light, effervescent to the girl. There was no thought involved in moving them. Picking up a piece of paper would have been more taxing in her mind. And they looked as if they held no substance. Thin and delicate as a dragonfly’s wings, when the fluttered they had a certain harmony to them and stillness seemed not to suit them. They neither pulsed nor flickered but instead seemed to drift lazily from one position to the next without real motive until she deemed it necessary. And as she was a floating creature, they seemed hardly necessary to her at all at the moment.

As the two of them had stopped before they fully reached her she went to them, her hair drifting behind her as if it could find its own gravitational field to exist in. When she stopped before them she looked between the taller male and the female oddly pinching her cheeks. Lifting her own fingers to her cheeks the girl touched the smooth expanse of her skin, but found she wasn’t able to recreate the same reaction, the skin only puckering slightly when she tried. With a frown the frei reached out to the red head and brushed one of her hands aside, gentle and cautious as she was when she’d inspected her headband. Despite the delicacy, there was a certain forcefulness as well. She would not have taken a rejection very well, that was certain. With one hand she lightly pinched the other’s cheek and with the other she pinched her own.

Her frown deepened slightly when the results were not similar.

Doucette blinked, too startled to say anything when her hand was moved aside and her cheek pinched much like her grandmother had once done when she visited them as a child. Being on the, well, rotund side, there was plenty to pinch on those chipmunk-like cheeks. Thankfully the frei did not pinch too much or too hard, but she couldn’t help noticing how the fingers that touched her cheek were chilly to the touch. Had it been cold in the office? Her Raevan wasn’t wearing many clothes at all, was she cold? Lifting the hand up that had been moved, Doe placed her hand over the girl’s and smiled at her. It didn’t matter if the office was cold, she would never let her newborn be uncomfortable again. “You are as curious as a fox. I think I found the perfect name for you...Revontulet.

The awe lingered as Zeke watched the situation unfold before him. As the Frei neared, he dropped his arm and took a step to the side, giving the two women ample room to interact. His eyes never left the pair, watching as the newborn brushed her Guardian's hands aside in order to mimic the action Doucette had just been doing. The ombre-haired femme's frown at her findings made the vet chuckle, though he raised a hand to styme the sound as it left his pierced lips. His presence was quite obvious already, but he didn't want to detract from the pair's first meeting so quickly! All the same, he had to bring his voice about when Doucette regained her own and quite easily named the Frei right then and there.

"Revontulet," the vet said - albeit quietly - when the name's echo in the otherwise silent hallway faded. Zeke cast his gaze over the newborn Raevan and he had to nod; it fit just right for this unearthly beauty. Immediately after the nod came a renewed smile and the vet raised his right hand in a brief, hopefully attention-attracting wave. "It's nice to meet you. My name is Zeke, and this is Doucette." The vet tipped his hand to the redhead who was now standing before him. "She's your Guardian. You'll be going home with her today."

He beamed at the Frei and turned his attention toward the woman he had officially dubbed her Guardian. Zeke could see that her nervousness had seemingly faded from her figure and he had to smile a little more at her for it. It was sort of funny how that happened with some people, and it brought back a touch of nostalgia from when Anya had been born. The crazy frenzy, the uncertainty, the sheer shock...and then upon seeing her there it had all become awe and happiness and he had unlocked what he knew had to be his paternal instincts right then and there. For Dou, it would be her maternal ones and from the look of her, he knew she would be a damn good mother to this Frei. There was no 'if not...' in the raver's mind, although there was a 'wait a minute' rising to the forefront. When it did, the words fell from his lips and mingled with another chuckle.

"Maybe the hallway isn't the best place for this meet-and-greet. Why don't we all head into the office there and while you two get to know each other, I'll get this paperwork all sorted out?"

Revontulet.

It didn’t mean anything to the Frei but it sounded interesting coming from the woman’s lips and it sounded different coming from the man’s. The bright, neon gaze of the girl drifted between the two of them, studious and quiet, intent of the way their mouths moved and tumbled sounds from them.

But still there was no hesitant attempt at replicating their actions. No interest in producing her own noises.

So far Doe wasn’t worried about the other’s lack of communication. They were newborns after all, and babies took a little while to talk. Hopefully Revon would find a way of expressing herself within a short time, but those concerns could be handled when the time came. Here and now it wasn’t important if the frei was on the quiet side.

Doucette blushed when Zeke called her a guardian. Of course for three years the red head had known she was to be a guardian, but it sounded so different now. So real and important with her girl floating before her. Revontulet would be an easy charge, she felt. Although the wings and half a body gave away a striking difference, there was a soothing normalcy to the aurora that would perhaps aid her in the human world when it caused others difficulties.

Could we go back to the lobby? I am worried about Anya.” Although worried wasn’t quite the word she was looking for, since surely there was little to worry about with Anya in a place that should by now be very familiar to her, Doe didn’t feel right leaving her alone when there was an option to include the spider.

Green wings lifted in mild curiosity at the mention of another name. It was simple and had a musical quality to it. The mention of a guardian did not seem to gain the same level of interest from the aurora, but more because it was not something of pressing importance to her mind, rather than of distaste for the woman before her. The mention of someone new meant further study and thus the girl’s desire to meet them outweighed her present need for a home (or lack thereof, as the Lab seemed perfectly equipped for taking care of her so far).

Doucette's request took Zeke aback somewhat, but the vet found himself endeared to her all the same. She was worried about his Raevan, and that was as sweet as could be. He didn't - couldn't - bring himself to say Anya was an independent Frei, one who thrived in solitude and was thus fine on her own in the lobby, and instead opted to nod, smile, and gesture that the two ladies take the lead.

Anastacia was doing just as well as Zeke knew she would be. The spider queen had finished flipping through her magazine, dogearing a couple pages where the dresses upon them had captured her fancy for one reason or another. She sat placidly now, rifling through her bag for another magazine. Zeke had oh so generously bought her a subscription to a fashion magazine and she had just gotten the latest issue in the mail. Pulling it out, she wrinkled her nose at the receiver's address sticker on the side, the one that labeled her as "Ms. Anastacia Farris". The 'Ms.' was fine, it was the 'Farris' part that disagreed with her, although it was more so because of how it sounded in her head. Her name was long and lovely, Zeke's surname was short and blunt, with a hard 's' at the end that hissed unfavorably. If only he could change his last name, perhaps it would be better.

The Frei had just opened the front cover of her mag when the lobby door behind her clicked open. Immediately she turned - knowing well by now that in the presence of new Raevans she should NOT leave her back to them - rising from her seat and into her chosen height of five-foot-eight as she turned to face the intruders. Her wings rattled and stabbed the air as she moved, and the spider queen gave them a flick to straighten as she did. She immediately crossed her arms under her bosom to complete the look of one who had just been disturbed from their reading, but her hold on her elbows slackened just a little as the expected newborn flitted into her line of sight.

The young woman who floated before her was every bit a pretty thing; a creature who drew the eye with her surprising simplicity and calm shades. She was blue and green and white and nighttime black, with traces of gold and a literal touch of red on her throat. Anastacia didn't know what she had been expecting, not that she had been expecting much. Only two Raevans out of the plethora she had met had agreed with her tastes. This one, at least, appealed to her sense of sight, but in a way that made the Virus turn her nose up ever so slightly the longer she held her gaze upon the other Frei. She was, in a way, almost too pretty for what she was. By no means was she a threat to Anya and her regal sharpness - her imperial, dark beauty that turned heads everywhere she went - but one so simply dressed should not be even considered a curiosity, let alone something that could be considered 'vexing'.

A frown was tugging on Anastacia's cherry red lips by the time Zeke made his way through the door. His eyes landed on his Frei and a smile graced his face, which in turn made that teased frown appear.

"There you are Anya," her Guardian said cheerfully...and too cheerfully at that. "I want you to meet someone."

Zeke gestured at the newborn and Anastacia regained her initial look. She gripped her elbows tightly, with wings aloft and crown wide, her expression neutral, all six eyes bright and scrutinizing...but still holding that curious light. She looked down her nose at the Frei, watching her as she watched all newborns that were in her presence - with alert focus as though this would be the one to flip out and launch itself at her...again.

"Revontulet, this is Anastacia. Anya, this is Revontulet."

When the name left her man's pierced mouth, the spider queen lofted higher and this time it was a smirk that threatened her composure instead of a frown. Revontulet. Revon-toilet. That's what it sounded like. There was a pressure in her chest as the name resounded and echoed in her skull, a not even painful sensation that rose higher and higher and played as though it really thought it would escape her lips. She cleared her throat instead, as it was all she honestly could do not to laugh. An eye catching Frei perhaps, but with such a hideous name! Anastacia turned her six-eyed gaze to the Frei's new Guardian, wondering how on earth she could bestow her ward with such...with that.

'Revon' on its own was, in truth, a lovely sounding name to her ears. Short, crisp, and pleasant. The second half however; -tulet. Tu-let. Toi-let. Revon Toilet. There was no mistaking the similarity in the Widow's opinion.

"Good evening, Revontu-...Revon." The smirk ghosted across her face, and perhaps had it lingered it might have given Anya the appearance of being one who had a cup of friendliness in her, rather than the dregs at the bottom of the glass. Instead it quickly faded back to just being a shadow, a bare hint, although her eyes and their brightness did well to betray how she really felt.

Zeke had to ogle his ward. Never had she given a Frei - any Frei, newborn or older than her - a nickname. The way she halted and changed the newborn's name to just Revon of her own accord was like a shock to his system. She allowed others to call her by her nickname, but not vice versa. He openly stared at his Frei, gears in his head trying to puzzle out just what was going on in that leg-crowned head of hers at this very moment...and came up blank.

But it was simple, really. For her at least. Anya was just doing the poor, unfortunate girl a favor, and not just saving her own self the mockable repugnance of hearing the shitty half of the other's name again. If this newborn got used to being called just 'Revon' perhaps she could avoid the lifetime - and it would be a lifetime, she was sure there were some with half the brain she had able to make the connection out there - of ridicule.

Besides, the girl didn't look as though she could take such verbal abuse without melting into tears or just away into nothingness. She wasn't Anastacia after all; the one who could take such things with grace, poise, and a sheathed tongue long waiting to be sharpened.

Upon Zeke’s agreement the redhead’s expression brightened as sun on a summer day. She could not help it really. Anya had been one of the early raevan’s she’d met, and although the spider had her particular qualities about her, she’d been of such a regal and poised quality Doucette could not have helped but to adore her. Despite the independent nature of the frei, there had not really been a better means of imposing their company upon Anya without outright asking for it, and Doe was quite incapable of being anything which one could call ‘outright’ or ‘forthcoming’.

As the two guardians turned in the direction of the lobby Revontulet drifted after them, her gaze seemingly unable to settle upon even the most mundane or interesting of things. It was all new to her and she longed to absorb it in as she passed, slowing whenever something of fascination came into view. After lingering at a particularly intense spot of wall Doucette let out a laugh and came back for her, slipping a pale, peach toned hand into the frei’s smooth, moonlight one.

Pale wings gave a happy hum at the touch and she followed more closely the last few feet to the lobby, letting go of Doe’s hand the moment the sight of another raevan came into view. It was not that the newborn mentally connected their shape as being similar and thus their makeup being the same, but that the other’s colours were so beautiful. She wanted to see them more, closer.

Drifting closer to the spider, the frei stopped before the other could be overly alarmed at her approach. The thin, ethereal aurora moved with a liquidity that suggested she could glide quite quickly given the opportunity, but she advanced with a cautious curiosity that one often found in animals exploring something for the first time that they found fascinating and yet their sixth-sense told them to keep their distance.

When Anya straightened and floated a bit higher, Ren imitated her, her wings tapping out a little tempo in the air as she bobbed there, watching expectantly, waiting.

She would have loved to touch the purple hair and inspect the black wings of the other frei. The textures seemed so interesting and despite herself she drifting another inch closer before stopping, her hands at her sides, unreaching and unthreatening.

Revon. A wide smile formed on her lips and she turned her head to look at the two humans with an expression she had picked up from Doucette, an expression which meant good.

Was she supposed to get many names? Were they all supposed to sound the same, but still different? The newborn did not understand the concept, but she liked the sense of collection and inclusion it involved and she turned her smile back to Anya. The poor thing, she had no idea the nickname was nothing more than a backhanded insult!

Doucette too, was grinning, standing back a bit with Zeke and gripping his arm with happy anxiety as the two interacted (well, interacted as well as Ren seemed capable of interacting and as well as the spider accepted interactions). When Anya had given the frei a nickname she’d looked at Zeke with a curious expectation which turned to shock at the look he was giving Anya. “Zeke, what is it?” she asked quietly, looking between the three of them.

The newborn drifted toward Anastacia the moment she saw her, and the spider queen acted as she felt was appropriate. She lofted herself higher and gave her wings a flare, stretching them out wide. Her crown followed suit, each leg pulling out away from her face and stretching wide like a grotesque black halo around her periwinkle-colored hair and pale skin. This was her first means of having an approaching body stop and keep a respectable distance from her and often times it worked well. This time however...well. The girl did keep well enough away horizontally, but Revon did not even pause before she followed the spider queen upwards, which was something no other Raevan had ever done before.

Anastacia lofted a brow at this curiosity, a look that didn't fade even as the newborn moved just a little closer. This time Anastacia floated back, swiveling one of her wings over her shoulder in order to wiggle its saber-like tip at the Frei for a brief moment before pulling it back. It was an obvious gesture telling the girl to not try anything funny, especially when she was doing so well...full name not withstanding. To add to this, the spider queen looked at Revon pointedly, her expression turning back to a stern, ghostly frown to hammer it in.

Don't push me, little girl. Revon's hands might be at her sides and her posture nonthreatening, but Anya was not one to let her guard down so quickly. If it came to it, she would do what she could, and as unladylike - but circumstantially acceptable - as it was, she had once thrown a Frei much larger than this one across a room. A waif like this white clad beauty would surely go much, much farther...perhaps even right through the glass door that led into the hall from whence she came.

It seemed as though that things wouldn't come to that, not with how the newborn suddenly donned a smile and turned around to face her Guardian and the Virus' own: one of whom was returning the expression while the other was eyeballing the darker Raevan with disbelief. Anastacia eyes followed to where Revon looked, and she shot Zeke a glare that made him straighten - or perhaps it was Doucette, as the redhead clearly said something to him - but regardless it closed that gaping hole in his face he called a mouth and made him stop ogling her so she could in turn keep all six of her eyes on this curious stranger.

It was in fact Doucette who had brought Zeke back to earth rather than Anya and her unhappy look, and the vet shook his head to clear his mind before looking the other Guardian in the eye. Her shocked expression made him smile to try and diffuse her worry, and the hand of the arm she wasn't gripping reached out to pat her hand as he leaned in to whisper to her.

"Anya's...She's never given anyone a nickname before." He pulled away and looked as earnest as he sounded, shock still clear on his features though he softly began to chuckle after a moment, keeping his voice down as to not distract the two women floating just feet away. "It's just surprising is all. Not a bad surprise but just...really, really unexpected." He gave her a silly grin and a delayed feeling of pride swelled up in his chest. Anya was making progress! Certainly she had just laid down a boundary (he knew what that slow cutting motion through the air meant) but thus far? It was beginning to feel like Ethiriel's birth all over again. The Tea Raevan had left a good mark on Anastacia and that had been just as amazing as now!

Ethiriel, Cesc, and now perhaps Revontulet too? That paternal inclination made him stand tall and beam, even though he really knew better than to count his chickens before they hatched...especially with his Raevan and a newborn who thus far was just doing what came naturally.
