Soquili's name:

Male: Ciarán (Gaelic: Little Dark One) {Pronounced KEER ahn}

Female: Vasvi (Sanskrit: Divine Night) {Pronounced VAS vih}

Temperament:

Male: Aesthetic

Female: Aesthetic

Personality: (Give me at least 3 personality traits before your actual response. aka: Anti-social, friendly, bashful, etc)

Male: Charming, Inspired, Charismatic

Ciarán enjoys all what the world has to offer and uses what he sees as a muse to create his pieces of art; he is similar to his father in that aspect, but he completes all his pieces with happiness and excitement that he is barely even to contain. He prides himself on his ability to make three dimensional objects as well as paintings upon the ground; once when he saw ancient cave paintings, he wanted to duplicate the art style in his own work. He gets his love of art from his father and gets his love of the world and all the creatures living in it from his mother. Ciarán is compassionate to those less fortunate than him and made it one of his goals to be the protector of the small and innocent.

Female: Creative, Loving, Polite

Filled with a creative drive, Vasvi wishes to brighten the world with her paintings; to her, paintings are the windows to the heart and what you see represented reflects what one truly feels. She is just as creative as her father, but unlike him, she completes her work, for she does not want people to see only half her heart, but all of it. Vasvi gets her loving nature from her mother and finds herself being motherly to those who seek her help or her friendship. She has an eye for beauty and tends to see it in everything she sees, even in other soquili, who are twisted and filled with evil, she sees a savage beauty hidden inside of them (she does this at a distance for she knows how dangerous they are).

Prompt: Combination of Writer’s Block Prompts: “You were gathering berries and colorful rocks to create new paints for your current art project to show your father when you came across a fox with a broken leg, what do you do?”

Prompt response:

Ciarán and Vasvi would react in the same way if they were in this situation, so I will just write the prompt for Ciarán.

The seasons were changing, it was only apparent by the slight drop of in temperature, but high in the sky the sun shone brightly down upon the earth, erasing what little chill hung in the air. Old ancient trees that surrounded the outskirts of a beautiful meadow filled with colorful flowers contained joyful chirping birds that would make the leaves rustle as they took flight. Beneath the canopy of branches and leaves, a well-worn path wound its way deeper into the greenery; each side of the path designated by rocks varying in size and color. Thick green ferns concealed the musky earth of the forest floor and clocked creatures within their greenery, who stared out with shining eyes, watching those who tread upon the path. Among the ferns grew thick bushes of berries, each varying in color and name; many had sharp leaves to protect themselves from scavenging herbivores, but the briars did not stop the dark rainbow colored colt from his mission. He was collecting berries to convert into pain for his latest master piece and his pile was steadily growing upon a large leaf; a few more berries added to the top of the already unstable pile, sent most of his hard earned berry collecting into a colorful mess around his hooves.

Ciarán glared at the mess lying before him and then shrugged, “Making a mess is a part of the creative process, I just got a head of myself it seems.” As the colt began to clean up the berries, he heard a sound that made him stand still; one ear twitched and then the other as he tried to place the source of the sound that did not fit in the quiet life of the forest. Not wanting to scare the source of the sound, he quietly made his way toward the high pitched whimpering; through the brambles and ferns the colt discovered the cause of the whine, a tiny fox kit was caught amongst the roots of a tree. When the kit saw the colt its big brown eyes widened in fear and it attempted to struggle free from its root cage, it was then when Ciarán noticed it favored one of its legs.

“Shhh, I am not going to hurt you,” he took on the voice his mother used when soothing hurt animals, it appeared to work on the kit, for it stop struggling against its bonds. Ciarán took a few steps closer, and continued to talk to the little fox in the gentle voice, “you will be alright, I am going to help you.” The colt was not sure if the kit understood his meaning, for it blinked at him and it’s chest continued to rise and fall in rapid bursts. It would be easy to remove the kit from roots, but it would not be able to walk on that broken leg; the idea hit the colt and he ran back to the leaf full of berries, with a quick tug the remaining berries went flying onto the path and he ran back to the fox.

The little creature was calmer in Ciarán’s presence and watched with curious brown eyes as the colt attempted to break the roots with his teeth; minutes passed and finally the tiny fox was free, it tried to flee in the opposite direction, but when it tried to put pressure upon its broken leg, a sharp whine escaped its maw. “Little one, please don’t run away, I am trying to help you.” The colt nudged the kit onto the leaf, “Now stay, you will be better soon.” Cautiously the rainbow colored colt made his way back to the path dragging the leaf with the kit lying on top; he tried to make the trip as easy as possible for the little critter, but with every bump in the path the kit let out a whimper. Time seemed to move slowly and it felt like days had passed before the colt was in sight of his herd’s land; in the distance he saw a dark colored being and smiled.

“Mother! I found a baby fox and it’s badly hurt, I need your help,” Ciarán called for his mother after he released the long stem of the leaf he was dragging and she came in her calm like state to where he stood with the kit lying upon the giant leaf that used to contain his precious berries. Akari smiled at the little fox and it’s brown eyes opened wide in adoration, Ciarán knew exactly how the kit felt. His mother had the most wonderful calming effect upon any that come into contact with her, and the little creature was not immune to her charm.

The rainbow Angeni took charge over the kit and Ciarán watched with a fascinated awe as his mother treated the broken leg of the tiny creature; as he watched, the strong urge to protect the small and innocent filled the tiny foal. One day, he promised himself, one day…

Future plots:

This is for the foal no matter what Gender:

Understanding the Halloween Spirit Inside: The foal knows that it is different than its parents, given that he/she has a twisted appearance that does not reassemble any of its loving parents. The foal hears whisperings of the Halloween Spirit inside of him/her and he/she must come to terms with this other part of himself/herself.

Are there others?: The foal wants to know if there are more like him/her out in the world, besides his/her siblings and it continues to look whenever the family travels. ((If the family does not travel much, then this will be saved when he/she is an adult and can go in search of others similar to him/her.))

Paint the Wind oh Flying Foal: No matter what type of wings the foal has, he/she is going to need to learn or attempt to learn how to fly, but it is up to the little foal if he/she can figure out the skill.

I do as Artists do:The foal has acquired its father artistic ability and aesthetic eye for the world around him/her, and wants to create beautiful master pieces with others who share his/her same passion.

Male:

A Knight in Shining… Paint?: He is an artist through and through, but he also has the strong will to help those who are innocent and in need; his mother is one of the most innocent soquili he knows in the world and it is because of her, that he wishes to help those who are like his dear lovely mother.

Come Be Creative!: He loves art and the process of making things that he tries to convince anyone around him that art is the way to go, even if that other person has an aversion to the form of creativity, he will try to sway them to have realize art is wonderful.

Female:

A Lady of Paint: Her favorite medium is to paint large murals on the ground, but something seems to be missing and she does not know what it is. Vasvi meets another who has the same medium and learns from them.

Paint Me a Pretty Picture: Vasvi encounters a foal who is lost and upset, to get it to calm down she asks it to paint something upon the ground, when the foal completes its task and is calm, the two go off in search of its parents.

Soquili's name: (Meanings are fun)

Male: Hideki - Japanese name meaning 'splendid opportunity'

Female: Michi - Japanese name meaning 'pathway'

Temperament: (The one that shall go on the cert)

Male: Courageous

Female: Courageous

Personality:

Male: Determinded, Confident & blunt

Hideki is differant and he knows he's differant - but like his name implies he views these differences as an opportunity to change the way some Soquili think, he's out to change the world and teach others the folly of judging a book by its cover or in this case a Soquili by it's skin. He's heard the stories of course - about how his basket was watched over by strange creatures and the worry that this caused his parents. He's determinded to show his mother - and his aunt - that they really have nothing to worry about, that he is good and pure like they are...and perhaps he tries just a little to hard to live up to that.

While he'll always stand for what he percieves as the good and just cause Hideki will have to learn to do so in a way that dosen't ruffle everyone's feathers, he's so very confident that he's right and good that he seems to expect everyone else to see it that way too and can be a bit blunt when they don't. He dosen't mean to be cruel...and is generally highly apologetic when he realizes his words have caused harm and been misunderstood...He just dosen't always understand why not everyone can see what he percieve's so clearly. AS he grows older perhaps someone will come along to teach him this valuble life lesson.

Female: Same as Above. I orginally had a seperate personality planned out for her - but as I wrote Hideki's replies I became more and more attached to it and decided that I would like to play that sort of a character regardless of gender and simply change the name.

Prompt:

Your really not supposed to wander off on your own, but your a foal and like most foals you did it anyways. While your out exploring you happen to run across a stranger, how do you react and what happens?

Prompt response: '

Hideki was well aware that the afternoon was quickly falling closer towards evening and not only should he not be this far away from his family but that they would start to worry if he didn't return shortly. Of course he didn't want his family to worry - such things were always farthest from his intentions - but once in a while he just couldn't help being curious about the world around him and sometimes that curiosity over rode his good sense. If he told an adult that they would likely tell him that such things were typical of foals...but at the moment it did nothing but make him feel vaguely guilty for his trespasses and that guilt was starting to water down the fun of exploring.

With a slight sigh the colt had just about decided to turn around and hurry home when a faint sound made him pause. Was...that someone weeping? Tilting his head slightly he swiveled his ears in the direction of the sound. Regardless of the fact that he wasn't supposed to be out here, he was - and he could hardly ignore the sound of someone crying now could he? Perhaps they needed help and if so then he would offer it to them. Altering his path Hideki set off towards the sound, it never occured to the colt that as a foal he might not be the best suited to offer help, he merely knew that soemone was in distress and it was his duty to help them.

Making his way through the woodland paths he slowly narrowed down the location of the strange weeping sound. "Hello?" He called out softly as he drew closer "Is anyone there? Do you need help?" He continued on as the sniffing and weeping sound abruptly grew silent.

"Who's there?" A guarded female voice called out from somewhere off to his left and Hideki turned in that direction. The voice was young, perhaps a foal much like himself and there was a frightened pitch to her voice that had Hideki almost instantly on guard, all to often that voice had been turned in his direction for reasons that he simply couldn't help...but he shook that inner feeling off and stepped forward anyways. Perhaps she is just lost he told himself and assuming that her tone meant that she was frightened of him was as wrong as the way others made instant judgements in the first place.

"My name is Hideki" He told her as he drew closer "I live in the area and heard your crying" He explained "I thought you might need help"

Silence greeted his answer for a few moments but Hideki waited patiently for the filly to respond, it simply wouldn't do to rush her - if she was frightened then she would have to choose for herself if she wanted his help or not, pushing would only frighten her further. "I...I got lost and then wandered into this bog..." The filly finally answered in a quiet voice that told hideki that not only was she frightened but likely somewhat ashamed of her current situation as well.

"It happen's more then you think" Hideki assured the filly although he wasn't entirely sure that this was true - surely this small white lie couldn't be something bad to say, finally taking those last few steps and pushing his way through the bramble.

"It..it does?" The filly questioned with unsurity "It's just that I"m really not supposed to be here..my mother says these parts are haunted, that evil spirits came and..." The filly's voice trailed off as she had craned her neck around to look upon him while she spoke "...your one of THEM" The filly suddenly screeched, lunging forward as she tried to escape the bog with such fury that Hideki was imediately scared that she would break her legs trying to pull them so forcefully from the mud - even as he was also imediately angry at her reaction.

"Calm down!" He snapped at her letting his angry feelings override his previously concerned ones "If you keep thrashing about like that your going to wind up a ghost that haunts this place" He added bluntly even as he searched about the area for a vine or sturdy stick with which he might help the filly out of her predicament.

His words did not seem to go over well with the filly as almost as soon as they left his mouth the poor trapped filly started weeping with all new abandon and muttering things that Hideki had trouble making out but from what little he was able to gather took to mean that she thought he had threatened her in some way. Realizing that he had done nothing but scare her further the colt - although still angry at the filly's reaction - was imeditely contrite and having found and dragged a stick around to the front of the filly he dropped it on the ground and tried to make some sort of apology. "Look I'm sorry...I really didn't mean anything I said, I just came over here to help you out" He assured her in a sincere voice..although he had to repeat himself several times before she calmed down enough to listen.

"He-help?" The filly answere once his words managed to make it past her earlier panic, there was still a little bit of doubt in her voice but at the very least she had calmed down enough to stop thrashing about and Hideki was no longer afraid that she was in imediate danger of hurting herself. If what he had been told previously was true however then Hideki was sure that all of her thrashing had managed to sink her deeper into the bog - although he didn't think that would be a wise thing to tell her. In all likely hood that would just make her panic again. Instead the colt merely picked up the stick he had found and held it out towards the filly expectantly.

"what am I supposed to do with that?" The filly demanded after a few moments of silence.

"Grab the end and i'll pull you out" Hideki explained, his speech somewhat garbled for being spoken around the branch he held in his mouth, it must have been understandable enough however because she took hold of the stick like he'd instructed and Hideki leaned back with all of his might. It took a bit of effort and a good deal of sweat but eventually Hideki felt the mud start to give and the filly began to move towards the edge step by step. By the time she was finally ble to clamber up on the bank, Hideki's sides were heaving and what little light there had been before he made this detour was long since gone. He was quite sure now that his family would be worried for him - they might even be out looking for him and while he would apologize for making them fret and he shouldn't have wandered off in the first place Hideki couldn't help but think that perhaps it had simply been fate that had lead him all the way out here, after all, if he hadn't come along then who knows what would have happened to the filly.

"It's a bit late to find your way home now" Hideki told her once they had both recovered their breath. "Why don't you come home with me for the night? In the moring I'm sure my family will help you get home" He assured the filly and while he could tell that she was nervous about being away from her own family - and likely about spending the night with strangers she agreed and Hideki couldn't help but congradulate himself just a little bit - despite her fright it seemed like his rescue had done something to earn at least a little bit of her trust and..wasn't that exactly what he always wanted to do?

Future plots:

Generally I prefer to do most of my plotting as RP events dictate they ought to go, however I would love to do something with the family - for instance with the Aunt, it would be fun to plot together about whether or not the foal would be able to see her. If she does then the foal will be determinded to remain as 'pure' as possible so that they don't loose the ability to see her..if the foal can't then attempting to prove himself pure enough so that they can would be a big part of the foals life.

Regardless of how the foal turns out look wise (scary mutations or less so) I see the foal growing up to be a knightly character - although they will always struggle somewhat with thier blunt nature they will always attempt to seek out and help those who need it. Perhaps espechially looking to help those that others might over look, the odd balls of the Soq world who need help but others might be to afraid to approach. just because someone looks mean dosen't mean they are will be a big motto in the foals life. Of course sometimes mean looking Soq really are mean and that is something that will have to be learned and confronted as the foal grows as well.

Eventually someone will have to point out the foals rather blunt manner and either teach him/her how to better deal with problems where they might speak before thinking, really I think a more diplomatic best friend would be the best choice for this role, someone who could come along on the foals adventures and help smooth over whatever ruffled feather's the foal managed to stir up along the wy without meaning to.

I would like for the foal to find a lifemate, however this will not occur until somewhat later in life, after they have had serveral adventures and mis-adventures in their quest to try and change the world. I am somewhat torn about what type of soquili the foal would eventually fall in love with - either someone they have helped and wish to protect further or someone that most others might not find all that attractive to go along with thier 'goodness is on the inside not the outside' view of others. I have a feeling this is something that will develop through RP rather then something that will be decided ahead of time in a 'match-up' type fashion.

Do you Rp?: Yes! I generally prefer guild RPs - they just seem to be more in depth then Logged ones but I have both MSN and AIM which I can RP on with as well - and certainly understand the desire for them as they typically move faster then the guild ones for people with time contraints.

Soquili's name:

Male: Painted Buttercream darkness (Painted part comes from his father. The buttercream comes from both parents since the father is named after food, yet the mother is sweet. Darkness is the dark coloring and tainted twists placed on the baby.)

Female: Shadow Rainboom (Since there are shadows on the basket's black part, and a rainbow with the mother's side, plus the booming personality that the father has! Shadow Rainboom! BAM! 8D )

Temperament:

Male: Awkward

Female: Over-bubbling

Personality:

Male: The colt will be a more on the side lines for the most part, allowing his excitable family take the lead. He takes on a stoic look and body language that is often very hard to break. However even though he is stoic Buttercream does hold a good and innocent outlook on things, and sees the good in things or what good may come from a situation. You would not know this unless you know Buttercream though, since he does not speak much cept for a yep or no if he can help it. He prefers to keep any answers short if he does come across a question or problem that demands he speak. He does like to be around people and will drag over any plant work he is doing once he catches the sounds of others near just to sit near them and enjoy the company. Without people around him Buttercream goes into a very frozen state, truth is he is in a state of panic now that his security blanket is gone. He will wander off because of this fear, however he has a hard time coming back home due to his blindness.

Female: If this basket is female it will be almost completely opposite of her male counter part. Rainboom will seem to fit in perfectly with her little family, she is over bubbly and hyper damn near all the time. She can not sit still and is always making some sort of noise if it be talking in her short vocabulary or making chirps and clicks with her tongue. Personal space is not something Rainboom will know and will often break this bubble around people to snuggle up against them. However she does have trouble making lasting friendships wit people due to her shying away and in time losing contact with people who show impure thoughts or actions. She is very wary of being around "Tainted" beings after living with her innocent and pure family for so long. Because of this as an adult Rainboom will take on more of a realist view on the world than childish or blindly innocent and trusting. In a since she will have more of a two sides thing going on, where she has her normal bubbly outside, but wary and shy around others inside. Rainboom over time after having broken another friendship over whatever reason will always take some down time to recollect herself by shying away from company other than her family if they are close for a period and spend her time with her work on logging and studying various plants/herbs. After this period she will come back out ready to hit the world again now that her spirits have been lifted.

Traits that both genders will share: Both will be blind and have very limited vocabularies from the hint that Mind gave for the basket. (Even if not I think this would be an interesting twist, so I'm rolling with it!) Both will be unable to fly due to this and will just use their wings for feeling around and or keeping things on their backs. Both have a love of plants and log them through touch, smell, and taste. They also seem to connect more with animals than people most of the time and take care of a large number of them at a given time.

Prompt:
(A little twist up from a given prompt since I am not sure to a key how to play the mother.)
"While out on one of the rare times you are left free to explore the meadows you find a bird with a broken wing! What do you do?"

Prompt response:
(Because of my brain just derping on me I will be only writing one prompt reply with the female concept so that I can have a finished entry. X__X Sorry about that!)

● It was a utterly gorgeous day, the mid-day sun high in the sky warmed the young filly's dark coat from the chilly early autumn temperature. Her father had very early in the day fluttered off to the forbidden two-legger village in order to collect more sweet treats for himself and the children. Her mother had jumped at this perfect chance to teach Rainboom's two siblings how to fly in the cool breeze rolling down from the snow-capped mountains to the wilting meadow which the family stayed in for now. Rainboom couldn't well join her winged family members in the sky however because ever since she tumbled from the colorful wicker of her basket she was without sight. This made flying impossible for the filly even if she was born with wings, the risk being too high for her even if a guide animal was gifted to her. So, she was grounded, which she was honestly okay with. Staying on the ground to her allowed so much more than being up in the clouds, after all there wasn't any plants or many animals up there! How boring! Her siblings could have the sky, today was her day to shine and explore her childhood home without the watchful eye of her mother keeping her close.

With one last sing-songy, high pitched chirp for a goodbye being tossed in the direction she thought her mother and siblings were in due to the sounds of tiny flutters of leathery and feathered wings as her siblings practiced flapping Rainboom was off with a bounce of her hooves into the over-grown field of wild flowers. Glory how amazing this all was! So many new flora to test! Could there even be sickly-sweet healing herbs in this field? Oh that would be just wonderful. She could use some more of those always to add to her well hidden stash for when she injured herself.

The child was just bending down to scoop up the first blooming poppy seed steam in her mouth to test when a soft, yet alarmed tweet hit her ears causing them to flick sharply down. Closing her mouth again before she could reach the plant Rainboom shook her head violently side to side, thinking that the animal that made the alarmed sound was a bug, perhaps a bee that had gotten shocked by her size. Right then! Now that nasty bugger will surely leave her alone now, right? Another series of rapid, cheerful chirps tumbled from Rainboom as her head lowered once more. Back to work, there was no time to be diddly dandling around with a little bug, her mama could be coming back soon!

But there it was again, that nerve racking, alarming tweet for help! It hadn't moved in it's placement from what Rainboom could tell, so it couldn't be a fast moving bug zipping around her ears. This time the filly could not ignore the cry, it was her duty to lead a helping hoof if someone needed it, after all she was the one needing the help so many of times. It was like giving back to pay off her debt. Letting out a curious squeak back Rainboom lifted her head to as high as it would go as well as her dark ears, she wanted to have the greatest range of sound that she could get so it would be easier and take less time for her to pin point just where the sound of help was coming from. Her front hooves made timid steps forward, watching out for any objects in her path or pot holes that could send her falling to the ground. Her wings opened up to their full wing-span, touching and rubbing the edges across different objects to get a feel of where everything was and where she could and couldn't walk.

It did not take long for her training ears to catch the sound wave of whatever was making the noise, she rode the rest of the way on the different ways the sound bounced back and forth through the short, spread out trees and flower littered ground. When she did stumble across the source of the sound it came to her surprise that it was a small, chubby, teenage bird! Unknown to her it was a hummingbird, and right above the fallen teen was a snapped twig for a branch where it had tried to do it's first test flight without it's mother to guide it. A pained cry similar to the one that called her over in the first place came from the worried filly before her head lowered, her nose doing the work her eyes could not through gentle prods. "Birdy hurt....birdy no fly with this! No, no." Though she had a short vocabulary her message was clear, this bird was seriously hurt and without her help it would be like a sitting duck for a number of meat eating animals around here now that it was stuck on the ground. She had to help, just had to! Gently Rainboom craned her wings forward, slowly easing them under the crying bird before lifting it carefully onto her back. Though she may not be able to see but when it came to using her wings for picking up stuff and setting it down on her back she had become a pro at it. She also at this point folded once again her wings into her sides, covering the injured animal on her back up with the very tips of her wings. Just enough to keep it in place, but not enough to hurt it anymore than it already was. Perfect! She was good to go.

And so, Rainboom took off with her new patient. This time her wings stayed put as she used more of her heightened smell and hearing to scout out the always sweet smelling rock where she kept all of her beloved plants under in a secret hole she had long ago dug up. Unlike finding the little bird this task was a lot easier on the filly, she knew almost every way to get to her rock from any edge of her family's home. After all she did go there enough! Because of this familiar knowledge of the location Rainboom got there in a snap with no trouble, heck, she didn't even trip on a pot hold once.

With timed movements and careful planning Rainboom slowly eased the tiny bird off of her back, using her wings as a set of hands almost to gently set the hummingbird teenager back onto the grassy ground which had gotten it in trouble in the first place. Taking a large step over the bird she lowered her head once more to brush against the ground till she found the hard, medium size round rock that in the damp, warm air of summer had grown moss over it, however that moss was dying out now making it crusty and to others yucky to touch. She had found it her early childhood and set over the hole she dug and fitted just for THIS rock, making in her mind a well-set hiding place for her goods. Stomping her small front hoof right next to the edge of the rock she started to wiggle her leg in a rapid squirm, slowly with each different wiggle driving in her hoof bit by bit under the rock. Once she was under the rock? She did the simple way of removing it, flipping it out of the calculated hole onto the untouched ground besides it!

Now that the rock was out of the way Rainboom stuck her useful sniffer down the hole, her nose and mouth went right to work as she searched and sorted through each of her plants to look for just the one she was looking for using her nose for smell and pushing with her mouth being used for short licks to taste the different plants since she did have the unique taste of all of them jogged down in her memory. "I found! I found!" Chirping out with glee Rainboom wrapped her dark lips around the bundle of fresh green steams with dark purple leaves spouting out in a wild mop manner from all sides. Popping her head back out of the hole she stopped only for a moment to twitch her ears, shaking out the sticky clay and dirt clumps that had gotten stuck on them. Once more Rainboom moved her wings in a delicate dance to lift up the tiny bird that had become her charge in the last few minutes before sliding it down onto her back. Lifting her front hoof also once again she set it on the other side of her rock and jerked back roughly, flipping it back into it's home where it could go back to doing it's job once more.

She knew that from her family taking care of her after her numerous bad tumbles that she needed to find some way of setting and keeping the bird's wing in place, that and she learned from her tests that the plant in her mouth if ground up under your hoof and set on the sight of injury could help with the pain as well as bump up the healing process by knocking out whoever had the injury and would give the body time to heal without them twisting and turning to do things why awake. But how could she set the break? Rainboom didn't have one of those neat cloth pieces like her mother and father seemed to be able to find...all she had to work with was sticks and plants. Wait...wait! Sticks and plants! If she could find a small enough twig that could be used as the brace, and a steam of a flower or vine could be used to hold it in place. With the lightblub lit up in her head Rainboom went on the hunt for her supplies, grabbing various size twigs, and pulling up long flowers with her mouth as she made her way back home. By the time the eager filly did arrive back to the grove of trees her family slept under for warmth and shelter from the bitter cold she had a whole mouth full of twigs, vines, and flowers in all sizes. One thing about Rainboom could be said, she always came prepared! Spitting out her load onto a clearing on the ground Rainboom shortly followed after by flopping her body down next to the pile of woodland objects. The hummingbird was safer on her back at this time, so she left it be as her nose sorted, picked, and tossed through the pile to find the perfect match for the teenage bird's size and wingspan. "I found, I found again!" Beaming a bright, proud smile she held up her prize of one long daisy, and one short but wide twig.

Now it was time for the surgery (Or well that's what she would call it), with her playing the role of doctor. Lifting the small bird off of her back for the final time Rainboom carefully set her patient between her outstretched legs, with it's body turned to the side so she could stretch out the wing to it's full length, this would let her put the cream on in a even layer over the whole wing but also put the twig in the correct place before folding the wing back up and then wrapping the flower around the bird's tiny body to keep it in place.

Which was just what she did, Rainboom used her mouth to grid up the bundle of herbs before nosing them onto the wing and when the hummingbird passed out? She started on the hard part; setting and wrapping the wing. The whole surgery took hours with her disability causing her to go slowly, the fact that she made sure every single detail was right, and truth is she didn't know a whole lot about just what she was doing yet. By the time she was finished the sun that was once warming the earth above was starting to set for the night, the breeze that made it so easy for her siblings to fly today now turned bone chilling. All the animals that were once running around storing food were now tucked away in their homes, fast asleep to get their rest for the upcoming day even her little charge bird lay protectively tucked under her wing sleeping soundly as the proud, and over joyed filly sat next to it, chirping away like crazy. The only thing that made her stop in her loud singing was the drumming beat of heavy wings soaring over head as her family came home from their own exciting day. Why Rainboom had lost her chance at exploring in peace, she gained a new friend and a boost up in her self-esteem knowing that she helped save this little birdy's life. Oh boy, were her family going to get a earful tonight, not in the number of plants she found but with pleas of "Can we keep birdy!?" and her retelling her heroic tale to every family member she had! Rainboom always knew it was going to be a awesome day, who knew it was going to be this awesome? Maybe next time mama let her go off exploring she could find a new plant and help save another birdy's life! Cause hey, a filly could dream.

Future plots:
(Please note these are very rough ideas. I normally think up plots as they come to me and the time calls for them, not all at once like this. xD')

● Animals, animals eeeveerywhere!
Over time the eccentric, animal loving foal has opened it's heart up to too many animals, now it's over run! Will it be able to part ways with some of it's friends and learn that it's best not to make sure you aren't over your head, even if you are doing a good deed? Or will in this stressful time will it find a rare long lasting friendship in a kind soul lending a hoof to take care of the animals?

● Making one kick-butt artist team with daddy!
One day the foal will be spending some one on one time with it's father, and since he is in an artist mood Lollipop tries to figure out a way that him and the child can make art together. Test after test though fails and in the end Lolli's short term focus runs out and he flutters off to do something else. However, the child doesn't and spends the rest of the afternoon practicing in a art style that can work for the blind foal. Finally it does come up with one; drawing with deep groves made from dragging your hoof on the ground! Excited about it's advancement it runs to it's father and shows him and in the end teaching him also how to draw using only touch and his hooves. They end up being a kick-butt team with this new art style and have a pass-time they can both do! The child learns today that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

● A lady/gentleman? What's that?
On another day where the foal has been left to it's own devices for a few hours it meets up with a snobbish soquili who thinks herself to be a graceful lady. She is just utterly horrified with how the foal acts what with it's bumbling around timidly with it's hooves, walking into trees, and seemingly lack of style or grace. She will set out a chunk of her time to do the child a "Favor" by coaching it in the ways of a lady/gentleman. This will end badly, with the foal not being able to do any of the rough tasks the mare set before it. In the end it will learn that it likes it's self for just the way it is, and it doesn't have to pretend or learn how to be anything else.

● Uhhhh I don't feel too good.
Oh dear, it seems the little foal has tested out the wrong kind of herb and has become poisoned! Now it is seriously sick and both of it's parents have to work together with possibility help from family to find a cure and get their little baby back to health!

● I wanna be the doctor in the house when I grow up!
When the foal is older it'll see a bigger use for it's knowledge of plants and time spent healing it's own injuries. First it will move on from healing animals to helping it's siblings and family members, then to family friends, till finally it realizes that it enjoys helping others so it will seek out the guidance of a unicorn healer or herbalist of some kind to teach it the ways of being a good doctor.

● (Male only.) Where did everyone go!?
The poor blind little boy has went too far when looking for a good hiding spot in the game of hide and seek and ends up lost! Confused and unable to smell or feel any familiar objects he gets very upset, running around looking for anyone that he knows in a dazed state. The colt will end up bumping into another foal who with the help of one of it's parents or older siblings will guide the boy home. However through this time with the other foal who is a excitable thing in it's mind becomes friends with Buttercream and will keep coming back to play even after he is safely home. Will the foal be able to get him out of his shell? Will it be accepted by his family even if it's impure? Or will it get tired of the struggle just to have a playmate? We'll find out when this plot rolls around!

● (Female only.) Why did you do that!?
As a young child a mean hearted child (Perhaps a kalona) will come across Rainboom as she is sorting and cleaning out her plant stash. An idea on how to get a free gift pops into the mean child and it stomps over to Rainboom before shoving her away from the stash, standing over it protectively. It'll then tell her that in order to get back her precious plants she will have to give him her most prized one. Upset and starting to get angry that he would demand such a thing Rainboom tells him to leave her and her plants alone cause he will get nothing out of her. Scoffing that the tiny filly the child sets all four of it's hooves into the hole and starts to jump on the plants, mushing them all into a muddy, useless paste before moving on. Rainboom is extremely upset by this and finally knows what her aunt spoke about when she talked about those who are impure, this child must have been one of those impure ones! Being childish Rainboom comes to think that just because you are impure like the child then you MUST be horrible and mean. (If it is a kalona she will start to think that bat wings and kalona features is a sign of a impure one always.)

- (Continue of "Why did you do that!?")
Time passes and Rainboom grows, getting more and more distrustful of those she doesn't think are pure like her family. She ends up spreading more time with her animals and plants than people. Until a strange soquili that is quite hurt stumbles into the meadow where her and her family stays. By this time she would have moved on in her doctor quest to helping family friends so for the sake of her new like of work she has to help this soquili! However it turns out either the soquili is a kalona or has a dark past, making it an impure one. Yet Rainboom is stuck between a rock and a hard place with her strong will to do good, in the end she does take on the impure one as her charge.

- (Continue of a continue to "Why did you do that!?")
Though Rainboom fought it tooth and nail she can't help but grow fond of the impure one she is taking care of. It will come to accpect her for her flauts and flaws, and even thinks of her perhaps as a good friend. Rainboom is torn on what she should do at this point with the impure one growing strong and healthy, yet so is her desire to ask the impure one not to leave. At this point in time Rainboom comes to an understanding that yes, they maybe impure but who is to say that they are all bad? Why should she have the right to judge them so much, doesn't that bring her down to their level? She has a major breakthrough with her fears and worries, ending with her asking the impure one to stay even after they are all better. Will they say yes?

- (Continuing a continue of a continue to "Why did you do that?!")
(If the impure one says yes to her offer.) Quite a while pasts now, possibility a few years time and still Rainboom's friend is with her. They have become quite a team and balance each other's goods and bads. Because of her bubbly personality and good-hearted nature the impure one also becomes a better person from all of this, just as Rainboom becomes a more understanding and accepting person. One big event does change all of it though; Rainboom's aunt comes to visit her. Shocking enough though the one that was so impure before now can see Rainboom's aunt! Showing that even in the darkness light can come through and shine. I'm not sure what will happen after this, I think I'd just play it by the ear and see what the muses are saying at the time.

- (Continuing a continue of a continue to "Why did you do that?!")
(If the impure one denies her offer.) Rainboom is stunned and taken back by her friend denying her outright, yet, after a period of time she slowly comes out of her funk that was caused by it still with her new found mindset of impure ones. She can set out on her path once again to be a doctor, now with a more open mind and friendly outlook to everyone, even impure ones that she comes across. (Again I don't know what happens after this, I'm gonna play it by the ear but it'll be a big change for Rainboom and she'll find a good path to go down in time.)

Soquili's name: (Meanings are fun)

Male: Kenaz (bright) Ohanzee (shadow)

Female: Niamh (bright) Tzila (shadow)

Temperament:

Male: Mischievous

Female: Conflicted

Personality:

Male: Playful and energetic, he loves to brighten up the world, or darken a bit to contrast. Sometimes he can go overboard and cause more problems than he solves, but he remains eternally cheerful, even when he really shouldn’t be. For all his smiles and outward cheerful demeanor, he has a hidden dark side that he works hard to damp down. Or, when he can’t help himself, he tries to let it out in such a way that only comes across as pranks gone awry. For reasons his youthful mind won’t understand for years to come, he feels it important for his faily to never know that his twisted and dark outward appearance accurately reflects what is inside. A splash of bright, surrounded by shadows.

Female: A people pleaser, she tries her best to be the daughter her parents want to be. She tries to be artistic and pretty for her father, and sweet and innocent for her mother. You would think this would be easy, except that she and her basketmates were different. She knew they were. She could remember the whispers of some strange creature when she was still forming. Oh, she didn’t remember what was said, only that it had planted a seed of… something. Something less than pure. Something dark. Something that would break her parents’ hearts if she let it flourish. So she tries to be what they want, while attempting to smother that seed. But like a weed, it seems determined to set roots and bloom regardless.

Prompt: While romping through the forest, you stumble across a furry stranger with very sharp teeth. How do you react? (Not a good description, I know x.x Also, writing this prompt with the assumption that the foal is a girl.)

Prompt response:
Niamh stepped lightly between the tress, wandering away from the safety of her family. She felt secure in the knowledge that as long as she didn’t go too far, nothing bad could happen. Besides, her parents had their hooves full with her siblings, and she didn’t want to add anything else on top of that. It didn’t occur to her until too late that her disappearing might cause them to worry. When it did, though, she immediately turned to go back… only to find her path blocked by another soquili, this one larger than her, and different from her parents. Almost scary looking. Still, she swallowed her nerves and tried to remind herself that a good person did not judge based on appearances alone. “Um… hello?” she squeaked, tentively.

Kali eyed the small creature with boredom tempered only by mild curiosity. It clearly wasn’t an ogre, and didn’t have enough meat on it to make a healthy snack, so she found it hard to be overly interested in the thing. Though, the fact that it dared to speak to her in the first place was different. The best way to tell if this thing would be worth her attention was to challenge it. “Tell me, little one,” she purred, flexing her claws. “How fast can you run?”

“W…what?” Niamh squeaked, startled. Fear spiked a bit as she took a step back. She could feel that little seed starting to sprout.

Well, it wasn’t that bright. That was disappointing. Still, Kali was willing to give it a few more moments. “Run,” she repeated before launching herself at the creature.

The spike of fear turned into a full flood and, with a scream, Niamh turn and ran as fast as her little legs would carry her. She jumped over roots and slid through branches, fear causing her legs to move faster. The darkness that she had worked so hard to hold back bloomed and consumed her, but she hardly noticed as the need to escape consumed her entire attention… until her world went black…

Kali followed the little creature for… oh, five minutes before she went in a different direction, disgusted and bored. The creature was slow and clumsy, hardly a challenge.

…Kenaz struggled his way up through the darkness just as he tripped over a tree root and crashed to the ground. The first thing he was aware of was the fact that he wasn’t home, with his family. In fact, he didn’t know where he was, but he did know that his heart was racing a mile a moment and that he was very, very afraid. He cast his gaze all around him, trying to find what it was that had brought him to this location, or had caused his heart to race the way it did. All he found was a dark forest. He whimpered softly as he picked himself back up. He’d blacked out again… hopefully no one was hurt, and he hadn’t done anything too bad. But some instinct told him that something bad HAD happened. Still! There was no proof of that. He forced a smile onto his face, telling himself that without proof, he had no way of knowing for sure.

With this thought in mind, he looked around again and started walking cautiously. Now, if he could just figure out where he was, then maybe he could find his way home. He wandered for what seemed like hours, aimlessly, in hopes of finding some hint of familiar surroundings. He tried his best not to let his nervousness or apprehension get the best of him. Finally, his efforts were rewarded as he broke through the trees and saw the familiar meadow where his family was. With a sigh of relief, he trotted toward them, grinning widely.

He ignored the odd looks his parents exchanged, and the uncertain way his siblings approached them. For some reason, they always seemed a bit confused when they saw him. That was fine. He was safe, he was home, and so were they. Whatever had happened, it hadn’t affected his family. His secret darkness was still secret. All was right with his world.

At least, it would be until the next time he blacked out.

Future plots:
I wanted to do something a bit different with my ideas here, and it occurred to me that having a creepy critter screeching at you when you were effectively in the womb would leave… side effects. That and I like both personalities I came up with X-D So my plot ideas are based off both personalities and genders. Whichever the lovely basket pops as will be the dominant one, but sometimes in moments of great stress, or the “darkness” coming out, the other gender/personality will emerge and the dominant one will take a nap.

So, if the basket is a boy, then Kenaz will black out every so often and Niamh will come out thinking she needs to be the perfect daughter. When she goes back to sleep, Kenaz will come back, thinking his internal darkness has taken over but he managed to regain control. As a child, the foal will likely be more afraid of these blackouts, convinced that something bad happened. After all, why WOULDN’T s/he remember unless s/he suppressed it?

How s/he will handle the split personalities as s/he grows will depend heavily on his/her interactions with family and other soqs. I could see him/her having the potential for great good due to the family s/he came from, or great darkness thanks to the twisted nature of the creature that cuddled it as a formative basket, and the unknown mutations s/he will have.

So, my plot ideas are a bit vague, but initially involve lots of family interaction X-D Like the first time mommy and daddy meet the second personality, and seeing how s/he gets on with the rest of the family. One day, one personality might win out. Maybe. Perhaps.

Or, just maybe, there’s more than two personalities ninja

Comments: I’m sure you’ve heard this a lot already X-D But I adore this family. They’re all so beautiful X-D I had a lot of fun brainstorming for this rp prompt, and while I realize that the idea in general is probably way off the wall and not at all what you want for the basket, I hope that you at least enjoyed reading it ^_^

Bonus time!
First Creeper: Hmmm…. For some reason, the pelt comment makes me think of the skinwalkers X-D Maybe this one will have paws and thicker fur like a skinwalker?

Second Creeper:Spikes and horns! Whatever it looks like, I’ll bet it has at least one spike or horn… Or maybe some sort of reptilian critter… Makes me think of a snake, actually.

Third Creeper: Definitely bat-like. Maybe a kalona? Or something with batty wings…

Soquili's name: Aurora Borealis is, as you know, the name for the Northern Lights. One might think it is impossible to see a rainbow at night because a rainbow is a phenomenon that can only happen with light. The northern lights fly in the face of this rule by creating their own lights in the midst of darkness. When it boils down to it, this is exactly the philosophy I had in mind while creating the personality for this foal.

Male: Borealis

Female: Aurora

Temperament:

Male: Accepting

Female: Balanced

Personality:

Male: Inquisitive, Colorful, Off-Beat

Borealis is a child of innocence and artistic sentiments, raised in a loving environment. However, the desiccated creature that attached itself to his basket and whispered dark secrets in his tiny ears has forever changed him, giving him a darker nature that runs like an undercurrent beneath his angeni blood. One might think that these two natures are constantly at war with each other, resulting in a confused, perhaps even insane individual, but this is not the case. Like Yin and Yang, he is balanced. A little bit of Dark inside the Light, a little bit of Light inside the dark.

Light and Dark cannot exist without each other.

Now, enough waxing poetic. What does this mean when practically applied to a personality?

Borealis is a combination of nature and nurture. As pointed out before, he has been raised in a loving environment. For the first part of his life, his angeni ancestry will shine. When he is very young, he will be able to see his aunt, but as he grows older, he will lose that ability. Even so, their mother loves and accepts Borealis and his siblings, even with their odd looks and proclivities. For his part, Borealis adores his parents and absolutely idolizes his older brother, Akemi. Like Akemi, he has been raised to be naïve and innocent, but he has a curiosity about the world and all of the good and bad things in it. He will love whatever outings they might have together and remember and appreciate all the lessons Akemi might try to teach him about the world.

This colt will have a very hard time mastering the Soquili language. As a foal, he often screeches and squeals rather than speaks, which deeply embarrasses him, even when he grows up. Even as an adult, he voice retains that low, rasping quality of a creature more used to screeching rather than speaking. He will eventually learn to speak, but he only speaks in short, halting sentences and he prefers to communicate through his body language, actions and his art.

Art. He has inherited Lollipop’s love and talent for artistry and he uses it as another form of communication. His art is when his darker tendencies start to show through and many Soquili might find some of his pieces to be disturbing. For his part, Borealis doesn’t understand why others might be put off by his work. He naively misunderstands their reactions, because for him, the lines between good and evil are blurred. Light and Dark, life and death, good and evil. None of these are contradictory concepts for him; all of them are right and beautiful and have a purpose in the world. He thinks in shades of gray. Because of this, other Soquili might think he is anywhere from loopy and misled to crazy and dangerous.

Because of his predominately angeni heritage, he will never fall completely to the dark side, but all of his life, he will tiptoe the gray line between the two. He will always be fascinated by things that others consider dark and twisted, however he will never go so far as to be a skinwalker-level of evil. He is at peace with himself, because that’s the way he was born and that’s the way he will always be, but he will struggle to find love and acceptance from the rest of the world. He will search for his place in the world… but will he find it?

Female: The same as above… The gender of the body won’t change the soul inside it. ^__^ Which is a fancy way of saying, “I found this contest with only one day to go, and I didn’t think I had the time to come up with two quality entries.” XD

Prompt: While exploring the land around her home, Aurora has met another foal who seems to accept her weirdness and doesn’t tease her for her speech problems. The excitable colt has led her the furthest away from home she’s ever been. Apparently, he is looking for something called “adventure.” These two foals will find it alright… in the form of a Kalona enjoying her dinner.

Because I’m not comfortable writing as other peoples Soquili, this prompt will feature two made up kalonas and Keagan Oralee, another Soq of mine. c=

Also, I will be referring to the foal as female from here on out.

Prompt response:

Quote:
You don’t talk much do you?

A small grin played at Aurora’s lips as she shook her head and looked with happy bemusement at the smaller colt before her. He seemed to be gregarious by nature, no matter the circumstance and accepting as well; he’d said barely a word about her odd features, other than to say she looked ‘wicked awesome’ earning him a big smile from the quiet filly.

He’d told her his name was Keagan, to which she’d smiled politely and nodded. What followed had been an awkward silence as he awaited her name, but she stayed obliviously silent, looking curiously at him the whole time. Finally, he’d had to come right out and asked her. After an uncertain pause, she croaked out her name before lowering her head in shame. Her family was used to her vocal disabilities, but other foals she’d met had not been so kind and she awaited Keagan’s jeering.

It never came.

Instead, he cocked his head, “You got a sore throat or somethin’?” A gentle smile. “Gramma says you shouldn’t talk much with a sore throat, but that’s okay, I can talk for both of us!” From there he began to talk nonstop. If it were possible to talk someone’s ears off, Aurora would be earless! But she didn’t mind, she was too busy feeling the giddy relief tingle at her hooves.

Keagan eventually explained that he was on an adventure! The curious tilt to Aurora’s head prompted him to explain. He was gonna travel all the way around the world and meet every Soquili along the way. Aurora’s eyes grew to the size of saucers as she stared at him, impressed. The colt didn’t notice, he was too busy explaining that that was what the rucksack around his neck was for; he had a blanket, a rope, two carrots and five apples for his adventure around the world. He was well prepared!

The young filly rustled her wings a little in excitement and she nosed gently at his bag of supplies. Keagan grinned at her and, after a moment’s hesitation, he offered, “Do you want to come too?” At her grin and enthusiastic nod, the hyperactive colt let out a happy yell and danced in a circle. After the cheerful display, he settled down and smiled at her, “Don’t worry, there’s enough apples for both of us.

From there, the two youngsters had set out on their epic quest to explore the world. Keagan was in the lead, continuing to chat nonstop. He spoke of everything from the random flowers they passed and the sunny day around them, to stories about his family and his twin brother. Even if Aurora had wanted to speak, she likely wouldn’t have been able to get a word in edgewise. As they were picking their way through the thick foliage along the top of a ravine, he’d looked back over his shoulder and asked her the question, “You don’t talk much do you?

As she shook her head, he continued to look back at her, rather than where he was putting his hooves.

One misstep was all it took and before Aurora could react, Keagan had disappeared from sight, tumbling head over hooves down the steep incline. Aurora’s tail flagged in alarm and her wings flared as she darted forward, following the colt over the edge. He continued to bounce down the slope ahead of her, emitting a high pitched squawk with each collision until he rolled to a stop. The filly’s little hooves clattered along the gravelly ground as she skittered to a halt nearby. Her ears were pricked in alarm and a low, worried keening sound had begun to emit from her throat. She nosed tentatively at her newfound friend.

She needn’t have worried, because Keagan’s head popped right up, bruised and battered, but as optimistic as ever. “That was fun… ow…” He squeezed his green and black eyes shut and slowly shook his spinning head.

You… okay?” Aurora rasped out haltingly. She pushed at his side, helping up the unsteady colt before moving to collect his apples; they’d been scattered across the rocky terrain around them.

Yeah. I’ll be okay.” Keagan swayed a bit, his words coming out slightly slurred. “Walk it off… I’ll walk…” He abruptly fell silent.

It took Aurora a moment to realize that the chatty colt was being uncharacteristically quiet… and what was that strange hissing noise? The filly raised her head and looked back toward her companion only to find a scene she hadn’t been expecting.

Keagan was face to face with another foal; a tiny, pureblood kalona filly.

All of Keagan’s gangly legs were locked in a rigid stance, his fuzzy little tail erect and the soft, peach fuzz fur along his back stood on end. Across from him was a tiny filly, not more than a few days out of her basket. Her body had all the gawky proportions of all the other foals Aurora had seen, but there were angles to her that one would only ever find on a kalona. The filly’s short, coarse fur was the color of mist and it bristled with anger. Her large, bat-like wings expanded in warning as the tendrils of her whip-like tail lashed back and forth. Rage burned in her vibrant, glowing eyes and she lowered her horned head, her lips curling back to emit a low hiss. At her hooves was the bloody carcass of a small boar; too large an animal for the tiny foal to have brought down on her own.

Get out of here…” The filly snarled, each word punctuated with loathing.

Keagan backed up a step, then two, “’Rora, we should go…” When he was met with silence and no action from his companion, he spoke again, “Really, we should leave; she’s a kalona.” He said the last word in such a way that he thought it should explain everything.

Aurora looked back and forth between the two foals facing each other down, not understanding the conflict. Why was Keagan so afraid of the filly? Why was the filly so angry? Why was there a dead animal there? The blood on the filly’s face answered one of her questions; she’d been eating the boar. Strange. Aurora had never known her family to eat any animals and she fleetingly wondered what Akemi’s Fluffy would taste like.

Curiosity got the best of her and Aurora trotted forward innocently, completely and naively oblivious to the reactions of the other two. She stuck her nose right into the still-warm corpse of the boar, getting a heady blast of the metallic scent of blood. She stuck out her tongue and licked at the squishy flesh, the coppery taste coated her tongue. Mmm, not bad, she thought, though she still preferred the taste of grass.

Silence greeted her actions and she lifted her head inquisitively to look at the other two. They both seemed to have been momentarily shell-shocked, their mouths open in the same expression of disbelief. Keagan’s disbelief quickly turned to horrified disgust while the filly’s reverted back to anger. “That’s mine!” she howled and charged and Aurora.

Bright pink eyes widened in surprise, but Aurora wasn’t fast enough to avoid the charging female. The kalona came at her like a bullet, curled horns first, but when she collided with the larger Aurora, the result was rather… anticlimactic. The tiny female fell backward in a tangle of bony wings and legs, having bounced off of Aurora like a brick wall.

Tears welled up in vivid, angry little eyes and the little filly’s face screwed up in an odd mixture of rage and hurt before her mouth opened and emitted a wail, “MOOOOOOOOM! MAMA!

We should go. We should really go. We need to go right now.” Keagan was panicking, his green eyes were wide, engulfed in the black around them as he whipped his head around, chanting the words like a mantra.

Aurora was about to agree, even she didn’t want to be caught by an angry mother, but didn’t have the chance to as the air around the three foals was filled with the sound of beating wings. Before anyone could react, a monster dropped from the sky. A huge mare, with dragon-like wings, horns, pointed tail and row upon row of pointed teeth crashed to the ground, her hooves like thunder on the stony earth. Her bright eyes surveyed the scene and she placed herself between the unfortunate foals and her spawn.

Well, well, what have we here?” Her posture was feral, head lowered, muscles coiled and poised for explosive movement at any time. “Little birdies have lost their way?

Aurora, was both terrified and curious, but she wasn’t stupid; her questions about these strange new Soquili could wait for a later date. Every hair on her body stood on end in reaction to the palpable danger hovering in the air like a suffocating blanket. Beside her, Keagan was frozen in terror, the only movement coming from him was the trembling of his little legs.

The Kalona mother’s grin grew, revealing rows of long, deadly fangs set in a powerful jaw. “Looks like you’re going to try angeni for dessert, Little One.” There was no warning before she struck, her wings folding to her body, her neck extending, her maw opening to reveal every last pearl-white tooth.

Aurora was barely fast enough; the mare’s teeth closed only on long hair. The younger female cried out and pulled away, beating her wings for a burst of speed. The hair was ripped from her mane, but she was otherwise unharmed… for the moment at least. Her little hooves scrabbled across the ground as she gained distance, but the kalona never caught up. Aurora knew she should have run without looking back, but something within her urged her to look back and what she saw made her heart catch in her throat.

Keagan hadn’t moved.

The poor colt was still frozen in place as if by a spell. The Kalona mother circled him, her prey. Confident was she that he couldn’t escape. His life was hers, she could take him at any moment.

Before she knew it, Aurora’s hooves were pounding against the earth as she charged the much larger mare. That what she was doing might be stupid and suicidal only occurred to her mid-leap, but she didn’t falter. Her teeth closed on the taut flesh of the mare’s flank and for the second time that day, she tasted blood.

Future plots: Should I win, I want lots of family RP! ^__^

Articulation and Communication: Aurora is having trouble learning how to talk and is frustrated to the point of tears. She is ashamed of herself for being unable to do something as simple as speak. I’m not sure who I want this RP to be with, but it should be with one of the mother figures in her life; Akari, Ananchel or Yunai.

Express Yourself: It’s time for art class with Lollipop and the siblings. I want to see how the siblings interact and how they express themselves with their artistic talents.

That’s What Big Brothers are For: An outing with Akemi! Aurora idolizes her brother and loves spending time with him. I would love for them to have an adventure or two together.

The Eye of the Beholder: Wow! This is Aurora’s finest work of art to date and she is very proud of herself. However, another Soquili comes along and is not so impressed… in fact, they are disgusted.

Fascination:Aurora has always had questions about the darker denizens of the world, questions even Akemi couldn’t answer to her satisfaction. In this RP, she’ll come across a not-so-nice Soquili (I think I would look for a pure Kalona for this one) and become completely fascinated by them. I can only imagine that the not-very-nice Soq will NOT be amused, but Aurora persists.

You’ve Got a Friend in Me: Not many Soquili allow Aurora to get close to them; she tends to give others the willies, but in this RP, Aurora will find a best friend. Preferably a good-aligned Soq (the more goody-two-shoes, the better), they may not completely understand her, but they accept her just the way she is.

What is the Measure of Purity?: This is perhaps the one time Aurora is in conflict with her darker tendencies. She loves her Aunt dearly and doesn’t understand why she can’t see her. She feels angry with herself for her darkness and goes to her Aunt to talk. This’ll be a short RP, mainly just discussion, if Alexia is up to it. c= I’m curious to know how Yunai will answer her questions.

The Darkest Day: One of Aurora’s family members gets a good taste of the darkness within her. How will they react?

Why Can’t You See?: I want Aurora to meet some like her, someone who has both darkness and light inside of them, but is conflicted about it. This Soquili’s natures are at war with each other. This is someone who is a pariah in society and I want her to teach this Soq that she or he is perfect the way they are. They are worth accepting. They are worth loving. She will either befriend this Soq, or possibly begin a lovemate plot.

Do you Rp?: Yes! I don’t claim to be the best, but I am literate and I am willing and eager to learn.

Links to past Rps: Unfortunately, I don’t have any completed RPs that I can find, but these are the ones I think I’ve done my best on:

Pass me that Vine! - with Zucutto Sohalia (Epine de Rose)
Motherly Instincts - with Branwen (Celestial Requiem)
Whispers in the Dark - with Samsara (Roniel Targaryen)

How active are you in Soquili?: I used to be very active, to the point of being on every day, but in these last few months, real life took over and I haven’t really been on. However, things seem to be calming down lately. ^__^ Still, if this bars me from the contest, I completely understand.

Comments: Thank you for the chance! ♥

Soquili's name: (Meanings are fun)

Male: Elario - Meaning Joyful/Happy

Female: Rowena - Meaning Famous Joy

Temperament: (The one that shall go on the cert)

Male: Loquacious

Female: Loquacious

Personality: (This personality will fit for both foals)

Male: Elarion loves talking, he loves playing, he loves to sing, he loves to dance, he loves to paint, he loves to go adventuring, he loves to swim, he loves to eat, he loves to tease his siblings, he loves... oooh what's that shiny thing over there? The little colt will tell you everything about himself in one long breath. Heck, he might just talk your ears off. He is also prone to losing his train of thought and breaking off onto another one. He is a very happy colt and certainly loves his family, but he can be a bit... off. It's almost as if there's a second part of him, buried deep down beneath his over active personality. Elarion isn't exactly aware of it, but it does occasionally rise to the surface. What it is, can't exactly be said. Some might call it his subconscious, others could say he's possessed by another personality, and even more might just say he's making it all up. Whatever it is, might not be evil, but it certainly isn't all marshmallows and flowers either.

Female: Same personality as the male, just switch 'he' to 'she'. I was gonna make them different but I really liked the personality.

Prompt:
prompt
As a foal your parents and siblings are doing their own thing and have left you alone. How do you entertain yourself to pass the time?

Prompt response: (written from the male's perspective)

Once again, Elarion found himself alone and with nothing to do. His siblings seemed to be amusing themselves and his parents were out and about doing whatever it was that grown ups do. Elarion didn't mind being on his own, not really. However, it did make it rather difficult for him to talk to anyone. If only he had someone willing to listen to him. The little colt let out a heavy sigh. If only. Only a moment after the thought, his head shot up. That was it! If only he had a friend he could talk to. If his siblings didn't talk, then he would just find someone to talk to. Determined, the little colt set out to see who he could find.

It wasn't very long before he happened upon an old mare who he had seen around before. "Hello there." He called out to her as he trotted towards her with enthusiasm. "Will you be my friend?" The colt continued on.

The mare looked up as if startled by the boy's appearance. "What was that deary?" She called to him rather loudly. "You'll have to speak up a bit more so I can hear you." She told him.

Elarion tried again. "I SAID WILL YOU BE MY FRIEND?" He shouted as loudly as he could. Hoping that she might hear him better.

"Have I seen your friend? Well, what does this friend of yours look like? I'm not a mind reader you know." She spoke once more.

The colt found himself startled by her reply. That wasn't what he had said at all! "I SAID WILL YOU... NEVERMIND." He shouted once more. What good was having a friend to talk to if you could only yell? No good at all. Feeling a bit dispirited, the colt moved on once more. His first encounter may not have gone very well, but he was determined to find someone to be his friend.

A few minutes passed and then a few more before Elarion spotted anyone else. Supposing you could even call it spotting. Really he just about ran into the poor thing. He only spotted the lizard just about as he was about to step upon it's tail. "Oh gosh! I'm so very sorry. "He told the creature. "I didn't mean to almost step on you. Are you ok? Are you hurt?" He waited for the animal to reply. However, all it did was glare at him and scurry off into the forest. Elarion sighed then and sank to the ground. Why was it so hard to find a friend? How come no one ever wanted to talk to him?

"I'll talk to you." A voice spoke from within the trees. "Oh you will?" He cried happily without putting much thought into the suspicious voice. "Of course I will. I'll talk to you whenever you want to. You only have to ask and I will be here." The voice replied from beside him. Elarion smiled, glad to have found a new friend. Even though she didn't appear to have a body.

Future plots:

*I would like for Elarion to continue this conversation with his aunt. It is because of the halloween traits, this 'darker' part of him that ruins his innocence and makes her invisible to him.

*I would also like to bring out this 'darker' part of Elarion in the future. Perhaps as a split personality, or just a part of his subconscious that he doesn't quite identify yet. Perhaps his mind is at war with itself? Whatever creature greeted his basket, left something behind...

*I would like for Elarion to meet someone who finds his constant chatter to be annoying. Perhaps put some perspective on how much he talks.

Do you Rp?: Yes I love rp! I love plot too <3 I’m not always the best at coming up with plots, but I definitely love to be involved in them. And occasionally inspiration does strike me.

How active are you in Soquili?: Very. I don’t hang out in the thread very much as it tends to move really fast or be dead. However I have about 30+ Soquili people on AIM so I still stay connected. I also try to actively rp as much as I can though I do work two jobs so life does get busy.

Comments:
I absolutely love the coloring on this basket! And the family seems like it would be very fun to rp in and with. Either way I'd totally be up for rp later if you'd be interested. (basket or no basket)

Also including a link to my journal. Each soquili has a different page where I keep all of their rp links/info in case you wanted any more!

Soquili's name: (Meanings are fun)

Male: Akira

Female: Akio

Temperament: (The one that shall go on the cert)

Male: Sanguine

Female: Patient

Personality:

Male: Akira can sometimes be a little too confident but that doesn't stop him from having a huge ego from his positive self esteem. He is one of those types that are hopeful for dreams to come true or rather wishes to come true. He seeks to help others try and achieve their wishes and or dreams, the biggest ones they can think of, he doesn't think it is possible to fail. Kira always sees the positive sides of things and never really the negatives.

Female: Akira might be patient but she is far from the always happy go lucky mare that should be expected with patience. She can be very sweet though, and in fact she does enjoy helping others with their problems, no matter big or small. She has a romantic side to her and can be considered very smart. Kira isn't very easily tricked and if she is fooled, she will take it upon herself to get even.

Prompt:
Quote:
Akira stumbles upon a male foal setting up a prank for someone but tables turn on her. What is the prank and how does she get even?

Prompt response:
The sun seemed to have risen early on her but in reality she knew that nothing had changed. Kira woke up and stretched, she blinked her eyes as she wandered outside and looked around. There wasn't anyone else awake or around, she figured that it was best she go for a little walk. As she walked away, her mind wandered about what could possibly await her today. She wandered down a beaten trail when she heard a lot of grunts. "Excuse me?" She wandered over into the bushes and noticed a male trying to rig a twig to set off some kind of net. The male jumped in surprise when he heard a voice and accidentally set off the trap that it seemed he had worked so hard to set up.
"Hello." He greeted her and then just took off and ran away as if he was scared to talk to her. She blinked in surprise and decided to chase after him, she wasn't paying any attention to where it was she was going though because before she realized it, she had fallen for one of his traps. As soon as her hoof touched it, she was suddenly hoisted up into the air, a noise she didn't recognize left her mouth.
Laughter came from behind her, she turned her head and noticed the male staring up at her with a large grin. "I caught another pretty." He grinned up at her as if she was a main first prize award. "I want down!" She begged him to let her down and to her surprise he did as she wanted. Once she was free, she stood up and readied herself, then she growled and lunged for him. She was nipping and snapping at him, she was beyond mad but the male managed to get free and get distance. "I'm sorry but I admire you and wanted to keep you." He said rather shyly, he had no idea how else to say what was on his mind. She was shocked but understood where the male was coming from, she accepted his words and smiled at him. He walked over to her and nudged her towards his own place so that they could spend time together.

Future plots:
1- Artists is born - Lollipop tries to teach her how to paint and she tries her best to get it down
2- Beauty is born - Yunai tries to teach her how to be gentle and delicate, more lady like
3- Akemi - Akio learns how to not be such a fighter

It brings an interesting point of view because I don't own one of the parents so I feel like it would bring about a new level of role playing experience for me <3

Username: Nyx Queen of Darkness

Soquili's name: Yenyelo (means "Sanctuary" in my language I've been working on for four-five years called Ta Dakenam Olanga )

Temperament: True

Personality:
**Please note that instead of doing two different blurbs which are actually the same thing, All of this is written in the female POV, but would be used for either.)**

Sweet, kind and concerned. She takes more after her mother’s side. She is very mellow and gentle. She is concerned with other’s to the detriment of her own health. Her whole being is focused on helping others, that she often becomes worried or troubled because of it. She takes everything to heart.

Prompt: (Your written prompt) What happens when you meet your Aunt Yunai? What's your reaction?

Prompt response:
Yenyelo felt very nervous. Her whole body trembled. So full of one emotion, she felt like she was going to explode from how much she felt. Her mouth went dry, and she could barely swallow. Her stomach muscles felt taut, and she was completely oblivious to anything going on. She was going to meet her aunt soon.

She’d met some of her other family, and they were all amazing. Everyone was accepting of what they looked like even if they were quite a bit…odd. She looked like her siblings, but at the same time—they were each very unique in their own way. No one else in her family had claws. Just like only her brother had tentacles in the family. She didn’t understand why they were different but she knew that they were and it worried her.

In her earliest memories, there had been a throaty voice whispering to her—whispering terrible, terrible things. The voice told her how she would be a monster, destined to be feared—different. And now today, she was going to learn the truth. How often had that shadowy voice whispered to her that the truth would come with her Aunt Yunai? When she met her aunt, the voice told her, she wouldn’t be able to see her—showing that her heart was impure. The voice to her that this would prove she was meant to be a monster, because there would be no good in her.

Her body trembled again. She felt good. She didn’t like to do bad things, she loved her family. But the voice was right, even though it disappeared shortly before she emerged from her basket. She was different, therefore to be feared—to be hated.

She was trembling, her whole body shaking and terrified as she heard her mother greeting her aunt. She close her eyes tightly, she wouldn’t look. She wouldn’t! Then she wouldn’t know the truth. She wouldn’t discover that she, Yenyelo was incapable of seeing her aunt. Why would she want to open her eyes just to know that she was impure? Why would she want to know that?

But why not get it over with? She knew that if she opened her eyes her aunt wouldn’t be there. She’d hear her voice, even be able to see Aunt Yunai. But she would never see her. Taking a deep breath, Yenyelo opened her eyes into a tentative slit?

Could it be? Was that an outline? She opened her eyes fully, her breath catching. She could feel the tears oozing out of her eyes. There was Aunt Yunai, light golden and shimmering pastels. Her beautiful wings making a soft rustling like paper. She could see her!

The voice had been wrong, had lied about this. How many other things had it lied about? She ran towards her aunt, the voice of the horrible creature guarding her basket losing it’s hold over her. It was wrong, it had lied! Her heart was pure!

Future plots:
After questioning her own impurities, Yenyelo has decided to help others see they can be pure of heart even if they are monstrous on the outside. Beauty, innocence, goodness—these are what make a beautiful soul shine through the eyes of what most believe is hideous.

This will be her main plot. Showing that inside is what matters.

Some other minor plots:

Art: Not gifted with her father’s artistic style, Yenyelo needs to find someone who can show her what art is—and how fluid the word is.

Family: Yenyelo wants to learn as much as she can about her biological family and her herd family wherever that might lead her.

Illness: She becomes sick by neglecting herself to help others, she has to seek healing and learn how to balance her life.

Sorry, I know that it’s not a lot of plots but I’d rather get to see the child and know the other siblings (and their twists with personalities) before I came up with more. The tempers and looks of her siblings would impact her greatly.

Soquili's name:

Male: Amon [The Greek Version of the name Yamanu, which in mythology was the god of wind in air. In Greek, however, the name means "The Hidden One."

Female: Adrienne [This name means "Dark one"]

Temperament:

Male: Protective

Female: Serene

Personality:

Male: Quiet, Patient, Protective

Amon is soft spoken as a foal, and when he grows, so too does his voice, deep, sincere and to anyone who doesn't know him, intimidating. As a foal, Amon will be a happy colt, affectionate to his family, cautious but polite to strangers. A sense of pride and love in his family will develope and grow in him as he gets older, his affection becoming a protectiveness that often shows in situations where something goes wrong. His personality will be; Quiet, Strong, Enduring, Patient and Protective. Naturally kind towards the young and women, with a "An Eye for an Eye" morality and the belief that you should earn the respect you recieve (when it comes to other males he doesn't know) and a need to educate and protect the future generations. Should he ever become a father, he will be loving, he'll turn into a big softie, unless someone hurts his mare or his foals. Ironically, this big boy is afraid of... Lady Bugs.

Female: Open-Minded, Maternal, Poetic

As a foal Adrienne is a fast learner. She is friendly, outgoing and very much the tomboy or rough houser. As she gets older she will become quieter, more laid back and sweet natured, easy to get along with and a great source of advice for any friend or family member feeling troubled. She will be shyer around the males she grew up with as her body and theirs matures and friendships grow and blossom into something more or something less. She'll become more family oriented, and eventually the need to make a family of her own, will begins to bloom. With a love for Life, animals, music and children, she can often be found watching the foals or collecting herb and flowers, singing in the woods and fields. Her personality; Open-minded and very accepting of difference and change, maternal and intelligent with poetic tendencies, she's serene, tranquil... at peace with the world. Should she ever become a mother her foals will never doubt they are safe or loved, and she will always strive to please her family.
She is Afraid of... Fluffy.

Prompt:

Male: Growing up you've been well aware of your differences between yourself and your family. You're seen as intimidating to younger horses and you rarely spend time with females because you are actually pretty convinced you will intimidate them too. You love your family, but no matter how much you love them, you cannot tell them your deepest and darkest secret. From the time you were a foal in your basket you could hear the chirrups and whispers of the spirit whom you were concieved under, and you still hear the sounds in your mind at times. Why do you hide this from them? How do you react to it? Do you yearn for companionship?

[Female: You entered the world earlier than your family expected, the creature that guarded your basket often chirped and whispered to you as a very small foal, and one day the whispers grew fainter and the chirps hoarse and fainter than they had been before. Your basket seemed colder, darker than before. When you arrive from your basket you see the small, black mangled creature curled on the ground beside your whicker womb and you watch as it's glowing eyes fade to a dull, lifeless black. Are you afraid of the strange creature? Do you feel anything towards the now dead guardian? How does seeing this at so young an age affect you later in your life?

Prompt response:
Male
"What are you looking at? Amon? Amon!" the voice gradually grew louder, beginning to catch his attention. "Huh? What?" he turned his head to look at his half-brother. "What is it?"
The other stallion cocked his head. "You're so distracted, what's up?" Amon could only shake his head, "I was just..." Just What? came the familiar response. "Thinking." he finished, turning away from his half brother. He hurried away and tried to shake out the voice, as usual, unsuccessful. He reached a quiet pasture where no other roamed and he hung his head with a long sigh. "I hate this. Just stop, please." Stop what? Keeping you company? Giving you someone to talk to when you are so very... Alone? it was true, he was alone. He was alone and he hated it. He stomped his hoof. "If it wasn't for the fact they'd think me crazy I'd tell them why I act so strangely. Who knows? Maybe they would understand! But I'm not willing to risk it... I can't. I won't." he shook out his mane and he tossed his head, ears flicking in every direction. You don't want me to go. Not really. If I did, you would be lonely. Because no one likes you. No one wants to be near you. You're different. You're frightening.
"You're wrong. My mother loves me, my father does too. They are my family. They love me even if I'm different!" Denial... anger. Even though it was the truth, doubt ate at him. "I can't stand knowing that I may never find someone for me..." he whimpered, sighing. Maybe you will, maybe you won't, but no matter what, I am here. He glared into the cool evening, a brisk wind ruffling his pelt and his mane.

Female
What are you thinking about? The whisper was not in her tongue, but she still recognized it, she could tell by now what the sounds the silent voice made. She knew only she could hear it, she didn't bother to ask others, she could see it in their eyes what they thought of her. She didn't know what else to do but answer, "Thinking, of when I first saw you, lying dead beside my basket. I was too little to understand death then, but the image has never left me." she answered. A flash of black caught the corner of her eye and she twisted her head around almost painfully fast to see the source, but as always, she saw nothing.
"I have never forgotten. Your appearance... your voice." she murmured. How could you, when I am always here? Always Near? She feared it once, this thing that spoke to her, told her stories, kept her company in the dark. She feared the dark when she was a filly, but now she did not fear darkness, nor loneliness, nor shadows. She did not fear them, but she also did not understand them. She often tried, but over time she grew to accept that she would never have the answers she sought from the creature that spoke to her... She doubted it even knew.

Future plots:
I'd like to find Him or Her a Mate who helps with the voices, or maybe one who also hears them.

I want a lot of family RP and a bunch of Life story RPs.

Flings, Friends and eventually a Mate and Foals too.

Maybe somewhere in the plot the voice will plunge them into depression and they will seek to end their existence, and in the attempt learn a greater life lesson, or find their destined Lifemate.

Do you Rp?: Yes I do. I'm returning from a lengthy hiatus and trying to get into roleplaying more than ever before. I roleplay in forum, IM, PM, on and off Gaia and occasionally by text. It's a big part of my life. I write as a hobby, and I'd like to publish some day, Roleplay is one of my major muses for my writing and it keeps my mind exercised.

Alright so we have a winner!

While this has to be one of the fastest judgings ever. Alexia and I have spent all our night reading over the entries and wow were we impressed by the awesome entries every one put in. We would like to first off thank everyone for their hard work, but in the end we can only have one winner. After debating for a long while over several entries Alexia and I came to an agreement as to the winner. This person's entries hit all the requirements we both wanted to see in a member of the family, while at the same time the person displayed a good amount of activity in rping as well.
That being said....... Congrats to -[The Spoof]- you are our winner~!
