 Karloff was stretching his limbs, a kind of snarl on his face. His wound was open and bleeding again...it always bleed. Let it bleed, he thought. Less soquili will bother me. The fewer the better. The world was cold and grey to him. Like some semi-lucid horror story. Everything was chill...There was a sense of foreboding in the wind, and the only colour that ever seemed to taint his vision was red. Blood...blood...so much blood. Her blood, my mother's blood....My blood.His thoughts turned darker. His face became more animal as he ran as if to hunt. Blood streaming behind him, the strings of his costume flapping in the wind. He felt free. It wasn't running exactly. It was hunting, hunting...hunting for meaning, for the one that would turn him. He couldn't be loved. He was never loved.

Something ran past him. Haxan lifted his head, 'No... that wasn't right...' He looked left, where the figure had gone and decided to follow. Folding his wings in to his side, the foal followed. He spotted the blood on the ground, picked up the scent and knew instantly that it was another foal. 'Why's he running?' he asked himself silently, 'Is he hurt? Running from something, or someone maybe?' But it didn't matter what he thought, he was quickly gaining on him. Now in visual range and closing the distance, Haxan ducked his head and really pumped his legs, catching up within seconds.
Matching the other foal's pace, he pipes up with, "Something chasing you?" He whips his head over his shoulder for a quick glance, but sees nothing, and so looks back over at the foal. "I'll help you kill it." Hey, it was a kind offering, wasn't it? After all, who didn't want to kill their enemies? This foal looked dark, both in color and in mind, and Haxan would be more than willing to help him out. So long as he didn't turn out to be some sort of happy-go-lucky freak. Yuck.

Karloff slowed quickly at the sound of a voice, he had been so intent again that he had not realized someone was close to him. He needed to be more careful.
He assessed the other foal. He seemed more like him, "Kill who?"
Was he suppose to be killing someone? Or was that what the other foal had assumed? He guessed that was it. Wiping at his neck, he looked at the other boy again. "What are you doing out here?" He was very interested in the nature of this other boy, but also very alert in case he proved an enemy.

When the other foal slowed, so did he. But he seemed confused. What was confusing about what he had said? Haxan raised an eyebrow, but waited until the other foal stopped asking questions. His tail flicked back and forth easily as he calmly responded to them all.
"Who ever is chasing you." He glanced around them, particularly back the way this foal had come from but saw nothing. Looking back at him, Haxan continued, "I was walking. Thinking about catching a snack or two. And then you ran past me. Didn't you see me?" He tilted his head the slightest and then smirked, adding, "Most others don't. The shadows hide me well most days and nights."

"I didn't see you. But no one is chasing me. Running helps me think." He tilted his head to assess the other foal. He was interesting looking, self assured acting. His offer at comraderie was nice. Most wouldn't have offered it to someone that looked like him.
"I'm Karloff. You're pretty fast runner," he smirked. "What are you out her for?" This other foal was alone. He wondered if he was abandoned too, or what brought him out here. Karloff was, in short, intrigued.

"Ahhh..." He responded with a nod or two. He could understand the running then. Yes, he found that running could clear his mind too. Something that flying did for him too, actually, but for one without wings, he supposed that flying was out of the question. And simply just impractical.
"I am Haxan." Another grin, "...but like I said, I was taking a long walk and thinking about snatching up a pest or two. Something small and hoppy perhaps. Or those ones with the fluffy tails... foxes. Those are easier to trap. They have dens, not tunnels that go on forever like rabbits." He knew a thing or two about hunting, but he was by no means an expert at it. Yet.
But on another note, he added, "You live around here, then?" He was just guessing, but the other foal seemed surprised to find anyone else out in this area. He was just wandering through the area, and didn't really know much about it.

Karloff nodded, he didn't go for meat. It wasn't his thing, but it would be one day...He'd always been a little fascinated by blood though, not enough to kill anything. He shook off the feeling.
"I come and go. My home's wherever I sleep for the night. You?" He was familiar with the place, he'd stayed a night or two in the area a few weeks back.
"Rabbits have tunnels that go on forever?" The thought intrigued him.

Apparently the other foal travelled too. Yes, that was best, Haxan figured. At least until there was a reason to stay longer. A reason that Haxan had yet to find. He too, would continue to wander, at least until he found a territory to call his own. A territory to defend and fight over should the need arise.
"The same. I have no home yet. I walk and sleep whenever, hunt and eat when I'm hungry. I haven't found my territory yet. But I will. I will." He nodded along, reassuring the other foal that he was positive of this fact. It was only a matter of time.
A snort escaped him and he said, "Feels like it! Those little damned things run underground and pop up many strides over! But there's a lot of them, I guess."

Karloff nodded, "I don't know if I'll ever have one territory. Maybe I'll roam forever. I hope to find one place, but I haven't found a place I liked so much yet." It was true, every place he'd been hadn't stuck in his mind yet. They were just places he ate or slept, nothing more. Maybe one day he'd find something.
"Rabbits are interesting. Very interesting. I like watching them disappear and reappear, it's kind of like magic." He smirked lightly, he liked this Haxan.

Haxan agreed, finding a place to call his own was hard, and truhtfully he was probably going to have to wander for many many moons before finding something that he could even call his own temporarily. But that wouldn't stop him, oh no. He would find a place, he would.
"Magic?" He tilted his head and thought about that a moment. "I don't get it." He raised an eyebrow, not understanding how the rabbits could be magical. They just came out of their burrows, and then dived back into them. What was magical about that?
Perhaps rude, perhaps even a little judgemental, but Haxan was honestly not seeing what this foal saw in rabbits. He shrugged though, brushing it off with, "Mighty tasty, though. If you can catch 'em." A swift wink and a grin, offered the foal a way out of the possibly awkward topic of magic.

Karloff smirked back at the boy, he hadn't really ever tasted flesh...It repulsed him, but blood...it smelled delightful. He wanted to taste it, to savour it...It seemed like it would be wonderous.
He shook off the thoughts of it before it overtook him, "It's nice here, but it's starting to get cold. Are you going to find a cave for the winter? I'm thinking of roaming less for the winter."
It was going to snow soon, the ground was already beginning to frost at night. This would be his first full winter alone. He wanted to find a smaller range, more of a base--he didn't want to get stuck the winter without food.

Glad that the talk of magic was over and done with, as he'd rather spend his time and energy thinking about practical things, Haxan welcomed the inquiry into his plans for the winter.
He nodded along, looking as if he was thinking before he responded. "A cave would be good. Warm, sheltering, secluded... and easily protected." He nodded once more as if he was only just considering all of this for real and finally coming to a decision. He looked over at the other foal, "Yes, I think I will find myself a cave for the winter. The frost just..." he shivered, obviously disliking the stuff, "... not my thing, ya know?" He looked the foal over once or twice and mulled over the idea of maybe teaming up with him, if only for the winter. Hunting and defence would be much easier with two bodies instead of one... but then he would have to admit that he had to depend on someone else... Well... maybe not... he could have a partner without being dependent, couldn't he? They could work together without him having to actually ask for it as if he was searching for help. Because he was definitely not looking or asking for help.
Hmmm....

Karloff nodded, "Not my thing either." He kind of wished that they could team up, range the area together...help each other out. But he didn't know how Haxan would feel about that, and he'd never really had friends before...So he didn't want to bring it up.
"There's a cave not far from here, well...several of them. I think I'm going to take one of them. It'll be more protected and secluded." He nodded sagely.

The colt seemed to know the area better than Haxan, so that could be his in. Nodding, he nudged Karloff's shoulder with his own and put on a smirk.
"Well, then, let's take a look at these caves. I think a bear would be too much meat for a single meal... Suppose I could spare some if you're hungry." That was his way of avoiding asking the other colt if he wanted to team up. He wasn't really hungry, but this was much easier than sinking down to needing the help of another.
Hoping Karloff would take the bait and accept the offered partnership, he shuffled his wings to make them fit more snugly against his sides.

Karloff wasn't sure how he felt about meat, but...he wouldn't pass up a chance at having someone on his side--a friend. A companion to help him, fight with him, and to find food with. He wasn't going to be alone.
"I think we should team up. It'll be fun," he nodded his head gently. "The caves shouldn't be that far." Already hew as beginning to taste the cravings that he had not yet defined.
