Blue eyes squinted and observed the changing in the light filtering through the canopy of the trees and her muscles bunched taught beneath her rippling coat. Her silver hair swayed in the wind and she watched as a shadow crossed her path. She had been waiting for three hours, now was the time! With a sudden release of her muscles she sprung into the air, a silent, deadly missile.

The large tawny cat she struck fell with an angry scream and flailing, sharp tipped claws. She snarled in shock as one of the paws made contact with her stomach, sharp claws rending sensitive flesh. A yelp tore from her and she avoided the cats deadly jaws, grabbing hold of the loose skin at the back of it's neck. It growled unhappily but grew heavy in her maw. Her teeth clenched so tightly that they may have pierced flesh, but neither creature noticed, the adrenaline so high neither felt it.

A move from cat brought a snarl from the wolf, a move from the wolf brought a snarl from the cat. Both waited and listened to the breaking and the frantic beating of the other's heart... finally in a stalemate that seemed to last forever the Cat attempted to regain it's feet and the wolf used her own force of momentum to right the cat and send it toppling once more, this time landing on the cat's chest, chin down to protect her throat as the cat bared it's teeth.

She stepped on the cats muzzle, though not with ease due to the writhing of the angry creature. The cat had been stealing her dinner for over a week now, and every time she tried to hunt the feline interfered and she was sick of it.She's watched the Cat from the shadows and observed it's behavior, then, she planned it's demise.

She lowered snarling lips to the feline's throat and before the cat could gain an inch, her ivory incisors sank into the flesh of the cat and in a moment, ended it's life. Crimson life's blood poured out over her jaws and stained her teeth and silver fur. She looked down at the beast dead beneath her and she stepped away from it's carcass.
Vulture feed now.

She made her way at a quick pace up the back of a large rock that jutted ten or so feet out of the ground and when she reached the top of the outcropping she lowered her head to breath and then she tossed back her head, long locks spilling down her back and shoulders and let out a long Keening cry that announced her victory. The area around her echoed her cry back and the feeling of justice and price soothed her throat as the call swam through it like honey.

Her fur stood on end in exhilaration and her body trembled with excitement. Her head buzzed with the after effects of the adrenaline and she closed her eyes to revel in the feel as the last burning rays of daylight died and the moon rose. This was why she was a warrior. The silver sunlight glinted brightly in her eyes and the smoky designs in her fur glimmered white and seemed to glow almost.

She looked at the shadows and willed her form to shimmer in the moonlight and as she lay upon the rock she perched she became hazy and hard to see... at the first glance, she might appear to be a beam of light... but at a second glance her outline could be seen against the dark stone. A wolf living in a world of loneliness for too many years, slowly becoming invisible to the world, looking little more than a misty Haze.

User ImageHe had ventured away from the rest of the group. The tournament had taken a lot out of him and made him question his relationship with all of the others. He really didn't know them all that well and that made his heart ache with a sadness he couldn't place. So Indra had been there and a few other wolves he had begun to know, but no one felt as homey as he had wanted. So Indra had been there when he was younger, but they had been separated for a long time. Even brothers can grow distant from that. Then what Roquie said, he hardly knew them. He hadn't been there from the beginning.

The walk was to help clear his head. To removed the memories of the fight. He had been brutal. But he was a wolf and he was fighting for Alpha. Compassionate rulers didn't always live long and there was always going to be someone looking for a challenge. It wasn't always about acceptance. Andragos' head felt foggy as he walked about in a daze almost, why did this have to hurt so much.

As his head collided with a low branch he struck out at it, ripping it from the trunk of the tree and tearing it to shreds. This wasn't like him, he didn't just let his anger go like that. What was wrong with him? Blowing out a sigh he continued, he remembered that the lake wasn't to far and he could just listen to the falls too. A bit of treading to get through the river but it wouldn't be to bad.

When he finally reached the lake he looked about and laid closer to the water. His eyes staring across the great expanse before his eyes focused on a wolf. It looked almost like Fairyn which instantly made his heart thump a little more and his tail raise slightly. Maybe she hadn't seen him yet, hopefully not. He didn't want the femme seeing him like this and his tail quickly went down.

Truthfully, she had seen him when he'd attacked the tree branch. She felt bad for him. She knew what he was going through. It was true, she felt the same way. She felt like she'd...failed at doing something important. She'd fought against two males, and she'd fought against one to protect the other, only to find that he'd also been protecting her.... then they fought... She'd been so tired and worn out that she didn't have enough left in her to even give the male a good fight... she hadn't lasted long, and it made her feel ridiculous and she was trying to push it out of her mind. She was glad, in a manner of speaking she'd lost, but on the other hand, she had failed in becoming the future for her pack...

Really though, what right did she have to lead wolves she knew so little about? She only knew a pawful of them and none of them but Kora were really close to her... she respected them and cared about them, but she couldn't say that any of them really knew her well, or vice versa. She was relaxing and trying to let her newest injuries heal. She was sore, most of the injuries were reopened and not healing well, but she'd never taken well to herbs and healing outside of a natural course.

She'd seen him from her perch on the rocks, the black and blue male that made her heart race every time she saw him. She knew he had seen her and she was aware he was there, but she was afraid he might not want her with him in the mood he was in. She was quiet, passive and her eyes were focused on the sky, and then she stood slowly and turned to look at him.

Whether he wanted her to see him or not, she was concerned for him, and he looked like he could use her comfort. She ran down the rocky surface of her perch and stepped down to the soft ground that bore so many memories. She grimaced at the way her feet sank into the soft muck. She padded forward and laid her forehead against his shoulder. "Hey." she said, smiling softly. "You okay?" she asked softly. She smiled, bright blue eyes watching him with a kind glimmer.

User ImageHe had been incredibly frustrated and though he had a few wounds and hoped the wound across his eye wouldn't scar. He was a let it heal on its own and whatever happened, happened. As he watched Fairyn head over he felt his heart begin to race. Andragos felt as he may be turned into a babbling pup if she came over and had to hold himself together.

When she approached and asked if he was ok he answered, "I think I'll manage." He hoped that she hadn't seen his outbreak there in the woods. Although the male's ears were perked up they quickly drooped in defeat. "I don't think it went the way I wanted. I know hardly anyone and Roquie was right." He gave a slight whimper as he moved, the wounds hurting a bit more since the outbreak.

Fairyn's presence however greatly helped his mood. She seemed to lift it up and take it away as if by magic. Of course it was just because he liked her and because time with her was pretty precious to him. Wagging his tail a little he nudged her cheek with his muzzle, "How are you?" Returning her question.

She was glad he was staying, and that he was talking to her. She saw the scar on his eye and wondered if his vision suffered any for it. She felt the giddy lace of adrenaline that she received each time she was near him and reveled in the feeling of this strange, foreign joy. When he spoke, she nodded.

His expression seemed to go from concerned embarrassment to defeat. She knew the feeling and understood what he meant. She heard his whimper and nodded towards a shallow place in the water. "The cool flow helps sooth the hurt." she murmured, licking one of the healing wounds gently.

He asked how she was and a quiet moment passed before she could think of an answer. "Very much the same as you, I think. Tired, sore, frustrated, more than a little disappointed. But, I'm healing, the sun keeps rising, and I've got friends who keep me smiling... Like Kora... and you." her tail wagged and she smiled at him, blue eyes seemingly content for the first time in many restless days.

User ImageStanding up he licked her muzzle gently, "Then let's go to the water." He suggested glad to know that she thought of his as a friend. His tail swished behind him as he struck forward to the water. As the water touched his wounds he could feel the effects of the cold on them. It was rather soothing. Deciding that the wound on his face needed to be cleaned he dunked his head under the water really quick before he looked back at Fairyn. "I'm glad you're around Fairyn."

She followed him to the water, tail wagging as she did. She felt the cool soothing rush and for a few moments felt almost completely healed. She watched him dunk his head in and she herself laid down so it covered her entire body, save for her head. She smiled when he spoke and the skin of her cheeks grew warm and a faint rosy pink could be seen through the silver fur. "Thanks... I'm really glad you're around too... I feel better when you're around." she admitted, dipping her head in to wet her hair.

When she came back up her face had cooled and her hair hung wet around her head and shoulders. "So..." she paused for a moment before continuing. "I was thinking about Challenging Icarus... after we've both completely healed." she announced suddenly, a topic that had been bothering her for some time.

User ImageIf he could blush he'd be as bright as an apple at her comment. At least he knew she felt something towards him which was more than what the wolves he had tried to woo felt about him when the packs were together. He shook himself a little to get some of the water out of his fur as if it were an annoyance, thankfully it didn't hurt.

Looking over at Fairyn he grinned at her. She as beautiful, her fur was like smoke and the crescent moon above her right eye was a striking feature, plus the long locks of fur that fur that came down in braids and hoops. Her beautiful blue nose was brilliant also. He wondered what features she liked about him. Even that brought up the question, why did she possibly like him?

When the femme spoke of challenging Icarus again he turned to her, "Challenging the alpha? That's not usually a wise thing to do. If you want to I'll back you up but that's like challenging his ability to be leader." That was after all how alpha's changed hands. He knew that. However Icarus could take another challenge that wasn't a blow to his pride, not that he would say that to Fairyn he didn't want to grate on her anymore than he already had.

It wasn't his place to really say anything but he didn't want to see her hurt anymore. "You did fight brilliantly however." He had watched her with such energy that it had taken everything to keep himself from diving into the fight.

Licking her muzzle gently when he went over to her he laid down. Andragos felt comfortable next to her, above all the serene sounds of the nature help bring the already calming effect to a higher level. "I'm glad I'm sharing this moment with you."

She smiled at him and found the expression lingered longer than usual. She was content and at ease with him. She gazed at him and reflected on his unique attributes. His eyes glowed with an intensity that made her feel warm, and his fur, dark as night, was thick and luxurious. His markings were very intriguing to her, the diamond on his forehead that seemed to glow brightly like a star... his markings seemed to suit him and she couldn't really explain it, but his temperament and his personality seemed to even hers out and she liked the way he looked and spoke to her. It made her feel special...

She heard his words and nodded. "Your counsel is wise... I do not challenge him for his place... I challenge him to prove my abilities and to see for myself that I am capable of success... I had nothing left in me Draigos... when it came time to face him I was all used up. He wanted a Warrior and all I could give him was a few good hits. I need to challenge him for a rematch... I don't want his position, I want to restore my confidence in my abilities as a warrior, because if I can't defeat him, it might just be time to become a hunter and give up fighting." she said uneasily, her blue eyes troubled as she gazed at her friend. "And I thank you, knowing you would support me if I
were challenging him for his place gives me a strange sense of security and courage." she admitted to him shyly.

When he made a statement about her fighting she shook her head. "Ugh... certainly not one of my finer battles, but it means a lot to me that you were there... I was embarrassed when it was over... I fought foolishly... I got the living daylights beaten out of me to protect Icarus, even though I knew I would have to fight him, and then I got One hit on A'cuil, after all the damage he dealt me. Icarus saved my hide.. I was no good up against a Sure-Claw... and then when Icarus asked me to be a warrior, I realized I'd done everything but that... It was sheer luck I dealt him a lick of damage... no, that fight will always be an embarrassment to me Draigos... however, I'm proud of him for winning the tournament... A'cuil would be so proud of him too." she murmured sadly, remembering the loss of the boy's mentor as his near lifeless body was dragged deep into the water away from their reach. "I couldn't save him." she remembered mildly, "I was too weak, to worn out to catch him."

When he laid down beside of her and licked her muzzle she leaned into him with a comfortable sigh, and when he spoke she looked up at him with earnest blue eyes and mumbled, "Me too." before licking his muzzle in return. "How is your eye?" she asked, gently licking over the healing wound.

User Image"Shhhh." Andragos whispered to her as he laid his head across her back as if they were already a couple. "Don't talk like that. You are still a warrior no matter the outcome of the battle. It was exhausting and you did the best you could, no one can fault you for that. My eye is much better even if it still hurts from time to time, thank you. You..." He didn't know how to finish without her possibly running off. They had known each other for a short time could he really ask her to become his mate? As his heart and mind raced he tried to calm himself to stop himself from stammering over his words.

Instead he would just continue with what he had been saying, "A'cuil should be fine. He seemed tough to me. Do not be embarrassed Fairyn. Even I would have had trouble and I hadn't fought. You did your best at the strength you were at from the last battle."

He was comfortable here but he wondered if how he was going to ask her or if she were going to ask him. How many times had he been turned down by wolves who had seemed interested in him, he didn't know. Fairyn seemed different, she seemed genuinely interested in wanting to be with him. If she wasn't his heart couldn't bare the defeat and the turn down. So he continued to devise a plan on how to ask her.

She leaned into him and sighed comfortably. "I guess you're right. Luck just wasn't on my side that night... I hope that A'cuil makes his way back, if he survived." she said earnestly. She licked his cheek and then paused. "You seem... distracted... unsure. Something on your mind?" she asked him in concern. She nuzzled him. "And thank you for being here with me... I feel a lot better now than I had alone." she liked him, she knew it was certain, and only one other male had affected her the way he did, but even so...

She had been young then, still an adolescent... and he had died protecting her, so that hadn't exactly left her on good terms with the emotions she'd been feeling. Being with Dragos though... that made it all seem so long ago and it made the memory hurt so much less. She hoped he knew how she felt and maybe even felt the same....
PostPosted: Tue Jul 06, 2010 9:07 pm

User Image"You've got luck now though." He responded as he licked her cheek, "I know I'm distracted I just..." Again the words caught in his throat. Why was this so hard from him? He used to be able to go around confidently around other females and have no problem at all asking them to be mates no matter how many times he was turned down. "You..." Why the hell couldn't he say anything?! Why was it so hard for him to say that he liked her, that he wanted to be with her, that everything felt so right when he was with her?

He gave a slight huff of frustration at his own problem. "I want to ask you something..." Well that was much easier, "but the words won't come." He wondered if it really needed to be said with the way they were right now. "I... Fairyn..." He was stammering and stumbling over his words again, as if the black male's tongue had gotten knotted in his mouth.

She looked at him silently for a few moments as he thought to himself. She watched his expression change and listened to him try to work the words out... Could it be that he felt something for her and that's what was so hard to say? She wasn't sure, but his behavior brought a soft giggle to surface from her. At his statement, that he had a question, but had a hard time asking, her heart thudded and her cheeks grew warm.

She finally understood, and realized he did feel the same way she did. She laid her forehead against his, a soft smile on her maw, a gentle twinkle in her eyes. Her ears laid back and her expression became shy and almost bashful. Her tail wagged and she licked his nose before murmuring softly, "Would it be easier if I just said yes now?" an airy, feminine chuckle accompanied the words she spoke as she looked at their situation. "Yes." she murmured softly, nuzzling him gently.

User ImageIt was like everything went into overdrive when she said yes. As if everything fell away and there was only them, not even the sounds of nature seemed to pierce through his veil of happiness. As his tail went a mile a minute as well as his heart he licked her back and gave a happy whine. "Best day of my life." He laughed with much less tension than he had before.

The male was like a puppy as he nuzzled her gently and licked her cheek. "Ever since I met you Fairyn, you just sent a warmth through me. I didn't know how to address you and I was scared. Time alone has... well. Its changed me. But you, you make me feel better about everything. Even if I may have lost the title, I gained something much more valuable. You as my mate."

His joy went through her like adrenaline and made her that much happier. Someone was that happy, because of her... It made her heart throb with affection and she whined happily, licking his cheek back and wagging her tail, little sprays of water bouncing about. She was honestly happy and she loved the fact that he was too.

"I knew when I saw you watching us, so nervously, that you had a good heart, you just didn't want to be attacked, and you were hoping for acceptance... I think my heart recognized that before my mind did... Dragos, I am over joyed..." she murmured, laying her head on his shoulder in an embrace. "And I agree, I don't mind so much that I lost, because you make me so much happier than victory could have... and I am happy to call you my mate... oh Drago, Kora will be so happy..." then she thought of Kora, her little one. Would they have their own someday? The thought made her cheeks grow warm again and she giggled.
