The sun hadn't quite began to peek over the horizon as Alaera got to her feet and gave her body a shake. This was no time to be dawdling. The day was new and there were so many undiscovered treasures out there just waiting to be found. The rest of the herd was still asleep save for a few guards here and there who kept watch during the night. Last night she had emptied out of her pack and stored those treasures in a secret location that only she and Nitor knew about. This way she could bring back as much as she could carry today, without worrying about space or having to give up one treasure for an even more impressive one. Alaera glanced down at Nitor, who was still asleep. Well he could sleep in tomorrow perhaps, she was determined to go looking for thing and should be decide to continue sleeping she would go on without him. But Nitor was smarter than to let her go off alone as he was the voice of reason some days telling her that some items weren't worth the risk in order to acquire.
Lowering her head Alaera gentlypushed her nose against her mates shoulder. "Nitor." She whispered, but made it loud enough so that he could hear her. "Come on, we have things to do." And then she gave him another nudge, this time a bit more forceful to get her point across and then waited to see if he would indeed rise or continue in his slumber. She hoped he would get up, treasure hunting just wasn't the same without him at her side.

Nitor muttered slightly at the first nudge, not that it was decipherable to anything but his own mind as he begged for just a few more minutes of sleep - it was not to be however because a second forceful nudge roused him further and cracking an eye open he looked up at Alaera with a slight sigh. couldn't they just sleep in one morning? Just once? Perhaps she would let them sleep once the excitement of new lands and thusly new treasures left her system. One could only hope that this would be the case.
For now though - it looked like he wasn't going to be given a choice, it was either get up and go with her or let her go alone - which Nitor knew better then to let happen. He didn't wasn't to think about the trouble she would get herself into without him there to keep her from doing something incredibly foolish. "I'm up I'm up!" He assured his mate as he scrambled to his feet with a slight yawn. Alaera was of course bright eyed and bushy tailed, far to excited to have trouble waking up..but he looked at her hopefully anyways "Breakfast first?"

At first she thought he was going to remain sleeping, his mumbling a sure sign of it. But her persistence paid off and he slowly came out of his slumber. She took a step back to allow him space to get up and beamed at him. "Good!" Reaching her neck forward Alaera have him a small loving nuzzle and then frowned at his mention of breakfast. Did he really need to eat right now? Well she suppose a small bite to eat couldn't hurt them any, especially since they did have a long day ahead of them if she had anything to say about it. "Okay, but make it fast." As antsy as she was to get going, and how hard it was for her to keep her legs still at the moment Alaera was willing to wait for just a few moments to let him eat.
It only took but a moment before a slue of questions came from here. "Which way do you think we should head? I've heard the lands to the east are quite rocky but sometimes those types of places are the best to find things. Or should we go back to where we had been the other day? There were so many things I had to leave behind." Some days her pack just wasn't big enough, and that day had been one of them. Then she got a sudden idea and gave Nitor a quick look over. "I think you should get a pack too. Don't you think that would be nice? Then you can help me carry things. I wonder if there is anyone around here that can help you get one." She fell silent for the moment trying to think of who to talk to about this or how they would get him one. Perhaps have one made, or maybe they could be lucky and find one laying about.

"You need to eat too" He told her patiently as he returned her nuzzle "You ca't be expected to stay out all day looking for treasure if your tired from lack of food" He pointed out, wandering a bit off from where they had been sleeping to grab a few mouthfuls of clover while he listened to her talk. Honestly Nitor didn't mind where they went - his mate always seemed to find something worth dragging back no matter where they ended up.
"Whichever way you want to go dear" He told her as he snagged another mouthful of grass, though he rather hoped she didn't pick the rocky area - rocky areas were always far more treacherous and Alaera was always willing to brave whatever was in front of her to get her treasure. "I'm sure we can find someone to make one for us" He assured her with a smile. "I've seen some of the locals wandering around with sacks about their necks..so they must get them somewhere" He pointed out - they would just have to stop and ask one of them where they had gotten theirs - shouldn't be to hard though Nitor wasn't sure he really wanted one - two packs would just mean twice as manay things Alaera could bring home and twice as long out looking for them. But it made her happy...and that was the most important thing.

With a sigh Alaera followed him and took a mouthful of clover. Once that mouthful was swallowed she looked over at Nitor. "I know, I know." She didn't need reminding that it was important to eat. Well actually she did, but Alaera hated to admit that more often than not she would simply forget to eat because she was too focused on finding treasures. That was why she usually insisted that Nitor come along, to remind her of such things. And because she loved being with her mate. Grabbing another bunch of clover Alaera chewed on it thoughtfully. There were far too many possibilities to explore, it was times like this that she wished she were a larger breed or that her wings were the type that would allow for flight. Then she could really make the most of her daily treasure hunting.
Mention of locals wandering around with packs made her ears perk forward. Well she would need to keep her eye out for one of these locals and pester them about where and how they got theirs. For now though they would have to be extra picky about what treasures made it into the single pack that she carried. Taking one final bite of clover Alaera was more than ready to go now. They couldn't stand around filling their belly all morning now could they. No certainly not. Not when there as work to be done. Turning about she lightly bumped Nitor with her shoulder, smiling at him. "Come on let's get going, I'm sure you can find more food once we get there." Where there was was still a mystery, as she randomly picked a direction to go in. As luck would have it, she was not headed towards the rocky area, she would save that experience for another day.

Snagging one last bite of the clover..and casting a sorrowful look at the rest of the patch Nitor turned about to follow after Alaera as she started off. He was pleased to see that she had choosen a direction other then the rocky area she had spoken of early - and he was a bit surprised too, normally Alaera liked such places it was almost as though the mare thought the best treasures would only be hidden in the most dangerous of places, no matter how many things they found elsewhere to prove otherwise.
"Anything in particular we're looking for today dear?" He asked her, picking up his pace slightly so that he could walk along side her - well almost trot really she was in such a hurry to get going, ah well he'd found her sense of adventure alluring when they first got together so he couldn't complain about that same aspect now now could he? Besides he had to admit..he had seen and done a lot of things since they'd gotten together that Nitor was sure he'd never have had the chance to do otherwise.

It was quite easy to ignore Nitor's sad look, she had done so many times in the past and today's would be no exception. He could eat more later, right now there was things to do and she needed to get to the good spots first if they were to claim all of the good treasures. Glancing over at Nitor Alaera smiled. She was lucky to have a mate like him. He never complained even when she insisted on going to dangerous places in the quest for new and exciting treasures.
His question made her pause. Really she hadn't given much thought on exactly what she was looking for today, sometimes the best treasures were found when one wasn't even looking for them. Her hooves slowed down as she thought for a moment. "Well I suppose since we are in a new land I would like to find something truly unique." Yes that would be nice, something they would never find in their old home. "Really anything will do." When all else failed she would accept just about any treasure found. But the true gift was all the time she got to spend with Nitor while on these excursions. Maybe they could find a nice little grove to spend the night in away from the herd and just enjoy each others company.

Pacing along beside Alaera, Nitor listened to her answer and couldn't help but chuckle a little bit - in other words his mate had absolutely no idea what it was she was looking for. That wasn't entirely unusual..Alaera just liked to look - though he rather hoped they managed to run across something during the days adventure...he always hated it when they didn't find anything worth keeping though that was all just part of things when you were a treasure hunters. I mean...if Soquili could run across treasure every single day then it wouldn't really be treasure anymore now would it?
Still..it was always better when they did find something - and like Alaera he was hopeful that these new lands would provide plenty of opportunity. "Well I think we've beaten all the other hunters out today so we have a good chance of running across things first" He told her, there were a couple of other hunters in the herd who liked to find unique things - but he didn't think they were nearly as dedicated to the career as Alaera was.

Alaera smiled widely. "Oh I do hope your right." There was nothing worse than seeing something at a distance but by the time they got there finding another Soquili scooping up their treasure. In cases like that she would often try to barter with the other, in an attempt to acquire the item. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but she always tried. That was why even though they were going out with the intention of gathering new trinkets that she always brought a few with her in the beginning just in case bartering came up in the early hours of the morning.
They continued in silence for a while mainly because Alaera was concentrating so hard on trying to spot anything of interest. Sometimes it was a simple glint of an object that could be seen from a great distance away that proved to be the find of the day. But so far there was nothing and it was somewhat disappointing. Then the sound of running water reached her ears and she brought her hooves to a stop to listen. "A waterfall?" She questioned Nitor, certain that he too would have heard it. Not waiting for his reply Alaera set off in the direction the sound was coming from, she loved waterfalls and it would be an excellent spot to look for something, and if it proved to be without treasures that would be okay because nothing beat the beauty of a waterfall in the early morning - or any time of the day for that matter.

"I'm sure I am" He told her "Normally we would have spotted them by now if they'd come this way too" He pointed out. they had managed to travel a fairly good distance since starting out thanks to Alaera's penchant for keeping up a good pace, they certainly didn't dawdle about when there was nothing interesting to catch their eyes - and Aleara was normally pretty good t spotting areas which might contain something of interest.
When she drew to a halt a little while later Nitor tipped his head slightly in the direction of the sound "Oh good" He stated, rather elated to hear the sound of water 'I'm a bit parched from our trip so far" And if they happened to find something interesting at the waterfall then all the better - he'd get a drink and Aleara would be happy with her find. "Perhaps the falls will have washed something interesting over it's edge" Though really the best time to look along river banks was after a storm when things got washed downstream...it was still the best bet they had seen so far this morning,

The closer they got the more certain Alaera was that it was indeed a waterfall. Waterfalls had a very distinct sound when compared to just a regular flowing river. Of course when Nitor mentioned the possibility of the finding something of interest that had been washed over the falls Alaera's pace quickened to the point she was practically galloping as the water fall came into view. It was spectacular and huge! It took her breath away and for a moment all thought of finding something special flew her mind as she came to a stop at the waters edge looking up at the towering water fall, the light mist from the churning water sprayed her lightly taken away some of the early morning heat. "Wow." She was practically speechless.
After several long minutes of staring at the water Alaera turned to look at Nitor, a wide smile plastered across her lips. "Can you believe this? It's so beautiful!" The water was crystal clear, allowing them to see the multitude of rocks that made up the rivers bed and a few fish swam about as well, their scales shimmering in the morning light. This was a treasure in itself, but sadly one that she couldn't take with her except in her memories.

Nitor increased his pace so that he could keep up with his mate as she started to gallop towards the sound of the waterfall - he loved the way she got so excited about such things, why her eye's practically lit up at the mere thought of finding something new and interesting. It was nice to spend time with someone who was always looking for something new in life, some of the stuffy older Soquili in the herd were perfectly happy just wandering about in the meadow and Nitor simply couldn't fathom such a dull life - even if their adventures did get them into trouble now and again.
As they stopped at the waterfall Nitor craned his head to take in the sheer size of the thing - he had seen waterfalls before of course but nothing of this magnitude - it was a few good spans larger then the ones they had known in their old lands. shaking his head slightly to clear his thoughts she gave his mate a warm look as she spoke "Not nearly as beautiful as you are" He told her sincerely.

"You're such a charmer." She said giving Nitor a loving nuzzle before looking back at the waterfall. Multiple flowers, of almost every color imaginable, grew all around the waterfall. In the mist she could see a rainbow caused by the suns rays. "I can't believe this." The beauty of this place still had her in a shock. The waterfall in their old home seemed more like a drop of water off of a rock compared to this place. Alaera never wanted to leave. "Do you think it would be safe to stay the night here?" She asked Nitor, a pleading look in her eyes. It would be so peaceful to sleep here with the sounds of the water and smell of flowers filling the air.
"We should go for a swim." It had been a while since they had gone swimming. The act of moving here and settling in for the first little while hadn't given them much time to do fun activities such as swimming. Of course it would means he would need to remove her pack and almost immediately she began to look for someplace safe to tuck it away so they could swim. "I bet the water is just lovely." Not to mention there might be interesting things at the bottom, now they were no Nixie's but when push came to shove she could swim to the bottom if it meant getting a treasure. Ducking her head under a plant that grew up beside a large rock Alaera decided it would be a good place to store her pack. So she began to carefully unbuckle the strap with her teeth.

Glancing around the area Nitor couldn't help but agree with Alaera about the beauty of this place - heck if he had it his way he would claim it as his own and never leave...but of course despite how pretty it was Nitor was positive that Alaera would not be happy settling down quite yet - not with so much of this new land left unexplored. Still he would remember it for the future..perhaps someday they could call it home.
"I think it would likely be okay, I haven't seen any signs of danger in the area and we can easily make a nice secure bed in the middle of those plants there" He motioned his head to a bunch of tall ferns, they were large enough to shield them from sight should anything wander in throughout the night - which was always one good side affect of being small, hiding places were easy to find and as much of the herd was starting to spread out and find their own lands now that they had arrived it was doubtful that anyone from the main herd would worry about them either.
Trotting forward he dipped one fore hoof into the water, it was indeed quite nice and he celled back to his mate "It's good an cool..but not cold" He confirmed which was really the perfect temperature for a swim. Wading further into the pool created by the waterfall he sighed and then dipped his muzzle to take a quick drink. "As long as we don't get to close to the falls the currents not that bad either" He concluded when he pulled his head up again.

With the buckle undone Alaera gently placed the pack in between the bush and rock. She took several moment fussing with the branches and leaves doing her best to hide it completely from site. Wouldn't do to have someone wander by and steal her pack full of things while they were busy swimming. Taking a step back she inspected her work carefully. The small bits of pack that she could see looked enough like they could be bits of branches showing through the leaves that Alaera was satisfied that it was well hidden.
Turning she looked towards the spot Nitor indicated. The ferns would make a nice place to sleep. They would be sheltered and also provide them with a bit of soft leaves to lay on as well. "Then we will stay the night!" She exclaimed in a happy tone. It would be nice to have a night away from the herd. Some days they didn't get enough one on one time, and this night they would take full advantage of this time alone. Hurrying over to the edge of the water Alaera practically ran into the water, causing a wave to flow across the width of the water.
"This is perfect." She said as her shoulder bumped into Nitor's. This place, oh she would love to live in a place like this one day. Yet the idea of staying in one spot wasn't ideal at this time. Of course there were other things she wanted at some point too. "It would be a nice place for a family." She idly commented before swimming off to explore the water a bit.
