This RP is between Cabaret (Darkmoon Dancer) and Frost (Divenasmom & Divena) Frost stood at the edge of the forest, just inside the tree line. Behind her was the shadowed safety provided by the tall trees. There were dozens of places she could hide, should any danger pass by. Or anyone at all, really. She shuddered at the memory of the last Soquili she'd had the misfortune of meeting. That mare had been terrifying. Frost could still feel the dirt pressing in on her.
She shook her head sharply and focused on the current problem. She was thirsty. Very thirsty. And the river was about thirty yards in front of her, just on the other side of disturbingly large clearing. The forest stopped at the edge of the clearing, and from what she could see, there was no shelter between where she was and where she wanted to be. She'd be in the open, exposed... not good.
The blue Soquili looked to the left. No one was there. The right. Nope, still no one. She looked toward the skies. They were clear. Taking a deep breath, she ventured forward, her eyes fixated on her goal. The clear, sparkling water beckoned her.

Cabaret cocked his head to one side as he looked on a curious scene. Up ahead, he could see a mare, nervously looking about her surroundings, but obviously focused on the water across the clearing in front of her. 'Why's she so scared? There's nothing in the area...' his brow furrowed a touch as he cast a glance around just to make sure his assumption was correct. Finding nothing threatening (not that he had been expecting to in the first place), Cabaret tucks his wings upto his sides real tight and picks his way closer to the mare. Easily keeping and passing her pace the red Wind catches up to the mare without any effort.
Light feet probably kept his approach quiet, if not completely silent, but he tries to ask her quietly so as not to frighten her, "What're you scared of? I don't see anything about." His head is slightly tilted to one side as he pulls up to the mare's side, matching her pace now that he's caught up. His glowing eyes are curious and his face is warm enough, not quite a smile, but nothing threatening or angry.

At the sound of his voice, Frost yelped a squeak and jumped. She quickly stumbled away from him, in such a rush that her hooves got tangled up and she tumbled down in an undignified heap. She peered up at him with wide eyes, shaking slightly. Why, why, why did this always seem to happen to her?

Cabaret had been half-expecting the mare to jump or perhaps whip around to try to attack him... but this? He watched her start, stumble and finally fall with a look of shock on his face. He wasn't that scary... was he? He lifted an eyebrow and tilted his head a little more to the side, but other than that, stood still. Was she.... shaking?
"Sorry about that! Didn't mean to scare ya. Looked like you were keeping away from something. Is someone chasing you?" He spoke slowly, calmly, and didn't move so as not to set off any more alarms. Why was she so scared?

"N...N...No," she mumbled, ducking her head. He seemed nice enough, but that didn't mean anything. She tried to untangle her legs as she ducked her head. Maybe if she didn't look directly at him, he'd go away.

He almost had to strain to hear her respond. She was definitely the quietest, most terrified Soquili he had ever come across. Which were both things that would usually make him dislike a Soquili, but she was shivering! Obviously there had to be more to this one than mere fear of surprise. She intrigued him, and he would try to get her to calm down and come out of her 'shell'. How successful he would be... he didn't know. But he could damn well try!
Waiting patiently for her to untangle her legs, Cabaret lowered his tone and spoke a little quieter. "Are you chasing someone then? Perhaps playing a game?"

"N...n....n...no," she mumbled again, pushing herself to her feet. She took a step away from him, wondering what it was he wanted. No one had ever stuck around her this long. Usually she could sneak away while they were distracted, but he just wasn't losing interest. "W...why w...would I b...be p...playing a g....game?"

Well then! Here was some progress! The mare had stood up! That was at least a baby step! He smiled a little warmer, but continued to stay where he was. Hooves planted, his tail twitched back and forth but his attention stayed on the mare.
At her own question he had to chuckle, "Because it's fun! Haven't you ever played hide-and-seek?" His head tilted to one side and he tried to look up at her face by ducking his own. His bright eyes blinked, trying to understand this mare, and why she was so skittish.

Hide and seek? That was a game? And here she'd always thought it was just a way of life. If she'd been trapped in a hellish game all her life, how did she tag out? When his face peeked into the corner of her vision, she took a quick step backwards and ducked her head further. Any more and her nose would be on the ground.
"N...n...no," she mumbled an answer to his question. She didn't think she'd been playing a game, anyway. And maybe if he thought she was boring, he'd go away.

Another simple answer. The mare ducking away only encouraged Cabaret to pursue her. Not that he thought this a game, but more of a challenge. And he like challenges, in fact, he pretty much lived for them. It was his way of life, always pushing to become better, faster, stronger. And he thought that this mare could perhaps use some encouragement to also become better.... in whatever way she thought she was lacking.
Inferring that games weren't really her thing, the stallion instead introduced himself. "I'm Cabaret." He lifted his head up and put on his most charming smile, hoping to get her to look at him. And he added gently, teasing a little, "Do you have a name?"

"Y...y...yes," she mumbled. Of course she had a name. What kind of Soquili didn't? Really, was that question absolutely necessary?
This tiny bit of spine allowed her to stand her ground for the moment. Well, that combined with the fact that he seemed to be willing to stay put as well. As long as he didn't come closer, she should be fine. She could just wait him out until he got bored and wandered off. They always did. He would, too.

She answered simply once more, and he could swear that her expression changed into something resembling indignation. A hearty chuckle came rolling out of his mouth at her short response. He was beginning to like this mare, even though she was so strangely shy and terrified of... well.. everything it seemed.
"Let me try that again... May I know your name?" He prepared himself for another simple 'Yes' or 'No' answer here, but waited all the same. He would get her to talk, even if it took all week.

She hesitated. There was no reason to give him her name, though it seemed like a strange thing to want to know. What did that mean? That he was going to hang around longer? Was she supposed to leave first? This was turning out to be less of a scary encounter and more of a social one. She had no social skills to speak of, and she knew it. Well.... Start with a name?
"F...f...frost."

He had to really concentrate to hear her answer, but eventually she did give it up and share it with him. Perhaps a little flattery would get her to calm down some?
"Frost." He repeated. "That's a very pretty name!" Now come on, what girl didn't want to hear that?
But just leaving it at a comment, he figured he would be greeted by silence, so he added another question to help encourage a conversation. "I was just out on a stroll, resting my wings, really. What were you doing out here?" He cast a glance across at the water that he figured she had been heading for, and even had high hopes of perhaps getting her to make her way over there and sharing a drink with her. One baby step at a time.

She noticed him glance toward the river and followed his gaze, almost longingly, before ducking her head quickly. Was he headed that way as well? Had she gotten in his way? Was she delaying him from getting a drink as well? She had to fight the urge to take a step backwards.
"T...t....thirsty," she mumbled, trying to answer his question while all the questions tripped over themselves in her mind. "W....w...was g...going to g...get a d....d...d....d...drink."
