Raleka is a botanist, and has acheived her dream of one day opening a little flower shop. She sells all sorts of exotic plants from Above and Below, creating artistic arrangements and lighting up lives with her work. She already owns an uncanny amount of plants, her apartment chock full of leaves and vines.
This hybrid is very insecure about her hybridism, and she sometimes wishes she were more Dryad than Chimera. She feels that her wings and tail tend to get in the way, and she tries to tuck them close to her body whenever possible. She is hopefully optimistic about making friendships with other people, but the second they show the slightest sign of animosity or judgement she'll shut down. She doesn't like to necessarily reject her Chimera culture, but she shies away from fire magic and any usage of her Chimera limbs.
Raleka was born to a Chimera father and a Dryad mother. Their relationship was happy, but looked down upon by both cultures and extended families. Her mother was a Root in a Dryad village, and after a time her father began to miss expressing the fire deep within him. After about three years of living together, he left amiably.
From a very young age, the hybrid had to deal with the struggle of her identity. She was clearly a different species from those around her, with her prominent wings and growing nubs of horns. Those who grew up with her were comfortable with her, and had little problems. The parents of those children were often prejudiced, and considered Raleka's mother's affair to be scandalous. The child, a product of that, was often sniffed at.
She discovered her affinity for fire magic very early on, but saw how destructive it was, and opted to never use it. Instead, she chose to focus on her nature magic. The incredible abilities of both of her races were inherited, but Raleka has always felt more like a Dryad. She gets weak when she hasn't been in the sun for a while, has a strong aversion to fire, and gets a yearly fungal sinus infection.
She has always felt connected to plants. When she was just a Freshling, Raleka was granted a few small cactuses in her room. She was sent off to the Asphodel Gardens Academy, because her mother thought she might be more accepted there. The plants went with her, and by the time she was a Senior, her corner of the dorm room was filled with vines and cactuses, flowers and tiny bonsai trees, all sorts of plants that she tended. Raleka had a natural green thumb, and the calming effect of gardening made her incredibly happy.
Regardless of expecting to be more normal amongst other children at the academy, there was still some interest that went along with being a Nightmare and Daydream hybrid. Her unusual combination of scales and leaves often left people asking about her genetic origins, leaving her feeling that most people pursued a relationship for wanting to have her as a token friend. It has always been difficult for Raleka to trust others. While the students were often friendly, Raleka withdrew into herself, choosing to be alone. She developed a rather hardened outward personality, becoming a woman of very few words. Instead, she vented or spoke to her plants, who of course, grew all the more because of it.
Raleka focused her studies on the sciences, and wished to go into Botany once she reached university to make her passion a career. She is currently pursuing that degree. She's enjoyed university quite a bit, and finds she excels quite cheerfully at her topic of choice. About halfway through her sophomore year, the hybrid adopted a little Fey named Annie. It was difficult adjusting to her new life as a mom, but Raleka has done so gracefully. She lets Annie attend the Academy while she is at University, and they spend a lot of quality time at home together. She's trying to teach him about responsibility through his new familiar, a Flitterat.

Flax was born to a pair of loving parents, two male Nixies. He has one older sibling, a sister named Lin, who was already in University by the time he was born. He lived an average childhood, and he was a very unruly and boyish child, but he loved to draw. He would scribble on everything he got. While his parents wished he would use his skills for something scientific, something that would land him a solid career, when Flax began academy he knew he had to become an artist.
The once active child became the type of person who would lock himself in his dorm for hours, trying to draw the crude likenesses of his roommates, friends, and teachers. He would draw everything he saw that he liked, even attempting to do landscapes and sunsets. He found his strength lied in a cartoonish illustration, but he still strives to have photorealistic drawings one day.
The most important event in his life to date, that he can recall, was when he asked a Grimm in his class, Laurel, to be his girlfriend around the time of Hunter's Jubilee (x). Ever since, he has done his best to learn what it means to be a good partner, and what true commitment is. Flax is hopeful that one day he and Laurel might be married, and have children, if she wishes it.

This sweet Naga was born as an only child to two loving, rather wealthy parents. They weren't wealthy enough to be considered any kind of nobility or royalty, but enough to have a nice, large house and to support their daughter's interests. When she showed an interest in music at a very young age, they had her take private lessons with the harp instructor next door. It turned out that Maerad was somewhat of a prodigy, taking up the instrument easily and playing at a level much older than her age after only a year or two.
Her parents granted her the casita in the backyard as her own personal space, and they occasionally came to listen to her strum her instrument or just spend time with her. She started tutoring at a young age, and her parents were planning on homeschooling her. That was, until the Swirling Sands stopped. When they heard that greater technology, and new social opportunities could open up to their small daughter, her parents decided it would be best if she were to attend the academy and become acquainted with others in the world of Below. So, Maerad and her harp were shipped off to school.
She hadn't had a difficult time adjusting to life at the Academy, and rather than being scared by other races she was intensely curious. She was especially interested in the Nixies, being a race from underwater! It was a concept she was entirely blown away by, having grown up in a desert. Although she didn't like the new restrictions on her being able to play the harp at all hours of the night, and she had rather intense insomnia because of it, she enjoyed her new home. She became obsessed with vespercats, their being so much like the Bakeneko she grew up around, and now keeps several of them with her at all times.

Jeanette is a very particular child. Even at her young age, she likes coffee, used books, and the smell of paper. She loves soaking in words and concepts, and has a near-photographic memory when it comes to history. She learns things in historical contexts - her literature is only enjoyed in the context of the life of the author, scientific discoveries are only made relevant through the process of the scientists who worked on the theories. She's a bit stubborn, liking things just so. She is incredibly organized, with crisp folders and binders, and her room is meticulously neat and tidy. This Neko hates nothing more than a bent paper or an object out of place, and because of it she needed to request a one-bedroom dorm.
Despite her neatness and bookishness, Jeanette is also a bit of a foodie. She loves eating, especially sweets, and has been caught sneaking out of her dorm more than once to see if she could muster up something from the dining hall (which is open late at night for the Seniors). In particular she loves chocolate and strawberries, but she'll really eat anything of quality that ventures near her mouth.

Annie was an orphan from the cache, and he was unfortunately kept not adopted until he was nine years old. He got along well with the other kids, but he was somewhat shy. He liked to watch other people with his big, emerald eyes all the time, more of an observer than an interactor. He was adopted by Raleka, the nice lady who brought plants into the orphanage sometimes, right around the time of Hunter's Jubilee.
He moved in with Raleka immediately, while she attended university. She felt that his education was very important, but she wanted to make sure he had a solid parent figure in his life, so they decided together that Annie would not be staying in the dorms. Instead, he took public transportation home from the Academy every day. After a few months of living with her, she bought in a Flitterat to teach him a little bit about responsibility, and also because Annie loved animals. He took his interest in the Flitterat and ran with it - he adopted as many familiars as he could, as many species as he could. All green ones, of course, since that's his favorite color - or at least some with green in their coloration.
Now, Annie is obsessed with animals, and wants to become a zoologist. He does hard research on how to take care of his familiars, and cares for each one of them expertly. Who knows how he manages to go to school at the same time? As they say, Cs make degrees. He's very optimistic about the future, and although he's a bit socially awkward, Annie is excited to do what he loves.

Micky is kind and cheerful, unsure of what she's doing with her life but not feeling particularly bad about it. She has a very particular personality, liking everything to be just so around her, and while she's not a control freak she has her specific preferences. This Fallen keeps her living space very clean, keeping a minimal amount of items that belong to her. She works as a barista in a local cafe, while attending community college. As to be expected, this girl is a bit of a coffee snob, picking only the most exquisite brews and flavors to pass her lips. She owns a fancy coffee press and grinds her own beans at home, and would even grow them if she lived in a place where she could have a garden.
Micky will not go to sleep without first writing an entry in her journal. She's never considered herself to be a creative writer, just an autobiographical one, and she has endless volumes of her life description from a very young age to today. She's also an environmentalist, trying her best to accumulate as little waste as possible. Micky goes to farmer's markets for her produce, eats vegetarian, and only ever uses cloth bags. Any waste she does produce, she tries very hard to make sure it's compostable, and has a compost bin complete with worms that she keeps on the balcony of her second-floor apartment. She thinks that maybe she'd be a good environmental activist, but she doesn't really care much for the aggressive politics that people of those professions have to deal with.
She loves fully and wholly, finding herself to be the kind of person to do anything for those she cares about. She makes friends easily, but also keeps to herself, her thoughts always going a mile a minute. Micky is the type of person who feels alone in a crowded room, and has a hard time focusing on conversations that occur around her if they don't involve her or her interests directly.
Michelle was born to two young parents, one being an orphan from the Cache, who lived as immigrants in Khiron. Because of her heritage, she was taught to always be open and accepting to others regardless of race, but she was not raised within a Fallen society. As a child, Micky was the epitome of a Fallen child with good values, being very studious and reciting her prayers appropriately. She learned to read and writing at a young age, and she started writing in journals from almost the time she could write. Writing to vent her emotions and process her experiences before bed became a habit of hers, and it's been a behavior that she has retained throughout her entire life.
When she was old enough to go to the Academy, her parents sent her off because it was where they had both attended school. She was housed in Eldritch, expected to become a historian. Placed in a dorm with a few other young girls who were also studious, she and her roommates kept their room impeccably clean at all times. As Micky grew up, she did well in her classes, and eventually realized she was in love with nature. She often went on summer camps or nature walks, and came to adore the world around her. Flora, fauna, all of it was what she wanted to perpetuate in her life. So she started to learn about environmentalism.
Micky went into her senior year of Academy with handmade cloth bags made of old sheets, glass jars, and wooden cleaning products. Her parents were politely approving but concerned that their daughter's new lifestyle would either get in the way of her studies, or be too hard for her to maintain. Afraid that any roommates would deem her particularities over the top, she requested a private dorm room, and lived her lifestyle that way. She began buying from only farmer's markets or bulk food stores, thrifting clothing and even making some from recycled fabrics. She made a little compost bin from recycled plastic that she could keep in the corner of her room, using the resulting dirt to donate to the school garden or even to grow some plants of her own. That first year, she only created about a gallon of waste. As time has gone on, that amount has only decreased.
When she graduated school, she no longer wanted to pander to her expected field of study, feeling a strong pull toward environmentalism. However, she wasn't sure in what way she wanted to approach that career. Instead of attending university immediately, she appeased her parents by enrolling for Community College, and took up a job as a Barista in Asphodel.

Sweet and innocent, if a bit lazy. Marinette is a dreamer, often stuck in her own little world. She's a bit immature yet, and doesn't grasp social cues easily. She's also not very aware of the world around her, frequently startled by people approaching her or speaking to her. Like most of her kind, she is a strong vocalist, and but she also has a heavy interest in singing professionally.
When she was first sent to the Academy, Marinette was amazed by the variety of life here on the land. Sure, the beds of seaweed and the flocks of colorful fish were fun, but flowers and birds brought joy and sparkle to her eyes! Even though she was supposed to be staying in her pool overnight, she'd had a bad habit of breaking the curfew, spending personal time in the fields outside the school. She loved to make daisy chains and flower crowns, weaving stems through each other as she sang to herself, enchanting the creations with a will of longer life. She often wore her own natural jewelry, and received compliments for it occasionally. She adores living on land, and wants to be the best land-dweller she could possibly be. She hopes to be well-adjusted as a Naiad.

Ruby was a cache orphan, and bounced around in foster homes for the first several years of her life before deciding, at the ripe age of 5, to run away from the system. She wandered the streets for a while, stealing and squatting, even pickpocketing money from people. She was doing pretty well, and she didn't appear to be homeless at just a glance. At age nine she was, once again, picked up by the Asphodel Academic Society. A man who was a high-ranking official was particularly touched by her case of endless rebellion. Despite being uneducated, Ruby had evidence that she was intelligent, and she could be a real asset to society. The man adopted Ruby and sent her off to the Academy, where she's spent the last several years.
At the Academy, and as a junior, Ruby was an intentional rule-breaker. She would smoke cigarettes in the courtyard, waiting to be caught, and skip classes just to go to jazz clubs and watch the performers. Luckily, the staff at the Academy was persistent and patient, not afraid to push her to do her best. Somehow, Ruby was able to keep up her tough exterior while being passably productive in school.
In her junior year, during the Haunted Hallows festival, the Academy was attacked by a group of Cannibals. Ruby paired up with a Chimera her age, Chunli, to hang out with the whole night. Little did she know that both of them would end up infected, attacking their peers. Thankfully, both of them were detained and given a "cure," or at least a temporary solution to their permanent problem, barely covering up the physical symptoms and marking them as "dangerous" forever. Ever since, Ruby has had to take medication daily to keep her cannibalistic bloodlust at bay. After the attack, she became depressive and reclusive. All of her passions seemed to fade into the background of her guilt and trauma, and while she's been seeing a counselor for her depression and PTSD, Ruby refuses to be put on even more pills. A lot of her wishes she hadn't been cured, that she'd be allowed to live in that mindless hunger forever, that feeling of being loved and accepted, regardless of how false it was.

Areka was born to Raleka, a plant-loving Dryad and Chimera hybrid, and an unknown Bakeneko soulstone donor. She grew up in a loving household, and has only ever known love and tenderness. She has a father figure in her mother's boyfriend, Addie, and she adores her older brother. Despite this, Areka is quite a bit of a troublemaker. She loves to play pranks and get in trouble!
