Ella squirmed, eyes fluttering open. She felt weak, and her arm was numb. Dazed, her eyes rolled back and squeezed shut, her good arm raising so her hand could hold her face. Sounds. Lots of them. Too many of them. It was overwhelming. Groaning, she felt a sudden wave of pain shoot from her injured shoulder and through her body.
"Hnngh." Her eyes fluttered open once more, spotting a familiar pink.
"Raa? Are you...." She meant to finish the sentence with 'okay', however another wave of pain shut her mouth firmly. How was she alive? What had.... happened?

Chervil walked as best as he could without getting in the way of the various medical staff, panicked people, and a few more underfoot familiars. He glanced back toward Adalyn and saw that Fio was staying behind, close to the ailing hybrid but looking his way warily, as though unsure he would return. He turned back around and flinched as he saw that the ones who had gotten bitten at the university were beginning to pass out, their wounds turning black with tendrils branching out like so many tainted roots beneath their skin. And after he had just told them they weren't getting sicker! The sudden progression caused him to think; if it were truly an infection, it was definitely no ordinary one. Nevertheless, he was determined to keep the evil blackness from his friend as much as he could.
Finding all of the medical staff preoccupied with the new wave of injured, he managed to snatch a container of disinfectant and a clean cloth laying on a table. He was heading back when he noticed that a good many were heading over to where knives and amulets were being handed out. He detoured his steps and went over to take them, putting the amulet over his head and looking around a bit nonplussed as to where to put the dagger. Shrugging, he decided to just leave it in his hand as he walked back over to where Adalyn was; apparently Ilya had gone to get his own amulet and knife.
He sat beside Adalyn, setting the knife down and scratching Fio behind his ears before sloshing some of the disinfectant onto the cloth. "How are you feeling? Do you want anything; some water?" He tilted his head slightly at the mention of being separated. "If they do know more about this then they're letting on, then they don't seem to think separation is necessary or they would have prioritized it. Besides," he added, "it wouldn't do them any good. I'm not leaving."

Coco was still on the floor, she didn't feel good in the least little bit, the wound on her arm was turning black and she was frightened. What if she became a zombie or a cannibal?? Then she saw all the others from the first attack passing out and that scared her more, how were they going to get out of this.. Coco said softly "Are we all going to die??" Then she saw those who weren't wounded getting knives and amulets. Did Ava have a plan or was she just going to have someone cut Coco's arm off. She was terrified. What was going to happen next??

As the bitten from earlier fell unconscious, the thought that he was glad Mai was unharmed ran through his head. His younger sister had a lousy immune system and the merest cold practically hit her like a freight train. He wondered if threatening his white blood cells would actually work.... ah no talking to skeletons was already bad enough. "Eilwen you maybe older and I might be graduated but you will always be my little sister. I just did what I would do for any of my family members" he replied with a fond smile before helping Eilwen over to the healing station. He was starting to feel the effects from the bite but this wasn't the first time an injury had threatened to sideline himself. "Coco. We aren't going to die." Vanna replied. Before he had evaded answers or just told them the truth. He wasn't sure this wasn't going to kill them but Coco didn't need the truth at the moment. She needed some hope to cling too. Sometimes hope was enough. He hoped it was true this time.

Part of him wanted to lightly shove Foras- if he'd known then why hadn't he said anything? Then again some part of him knew he would've freaked out over the possibility of... moving on to a new something. He nodded though, not really feeling like getting up anyway. The earlier panic had settled into exhaustion.
Ava's announcement barely registered with him at first. Right. Just when they'd decided to stay where they were, she was calling them all. He sighed, reluctantly scooting away from Foras to stand. "I guess you're gonna get your chance to beat everything out there after all." He snorted, trying to have some sense of humor. He shuffled through the crowd towards Ava to retrieve an amulet and knife.
Jericho was not entirely sure he'd really heard Ava, but his body was up and moving anyway. He nervously eyed the newly injured people as he passed through the medical area to get to her. They all looked so horrified... what was out there? Who was out there? He waited in line to get his amulet and knife, though he really wanted nothing to do with it.

"Hope you're right, Ruby." Chunli laughed softly, feeling sick to her stomach. Their new friend had collapsed and was lying near them.. And now it seemed that there was weapons and amulets being handed out. Chunli shuddered and wished for a blanket. Was that elf she helped earlier okay? Maybe she too had fainted. It seemed as if anything was possible right now. Anything, even the most disturbing things.
"Do you need some water?" Chunli stood up, dizziness washing over her immediately. A sharp groan left the chimera, but she managed to stay upright. Coughing, she walked closer to the box and pointed at a general trinket and weapon. Then, she stumbled over to get water. Moving was just making things worse, but staying still seemed like the worst idea of them all.
She returned to sit beside Ruby. Holding out a water bottle, she breathed heavily, "S-some sort of night, huh?"

Foras signed when he heard the announcement. he was trying to have a bit of a moment here! Just when they had settled down a bit and gotten a little bit comfortable. He stood up and chuckled a bit at what Gany had to say. He had to admit, he was a little relieved to be getting a weapon of some kind. He wasn't exactly a natural born fighter and he didn't have any great magical talents. Heck, he could barely fly.
"Looks like I need to work on my knife skills though." He had used a sculpting knife before, but he'd never tried to hurt anyone with one. He didn't know what he'd end up using this on. Part of him was concerned they'd be using them on those who were getting sick. Speaking of them, some of them had completely passed out now. This was definitely not looking good.

Somansh watched Yihad from afar as she waited for her pick at a possible amulet and knife as well, seeing the distress in hus eyes while hu talked to a complete stranger. There was a part of her that just wanted to rush over to hum and hold hum tight, trying to apologize for getting hurt, but she couldn't bring herself to go over to hum. Yihad deserved better than to see her in such distress, the nausea finally starting to form for her. She was hesitant to sit down due to it, knowing it would make her easier to spot for Yihad if she remained still. However, she knew if she kept moving around so much that she would more than likely just end up getting more sick.

Joseth started to grow anxious at the alarming rate the bitten Nightmares began to pass out. When the announcement was made for all Juniors and Seniors to obtain an amulet and a knife, the tall Litch joined the line. He nodded solemnly tp Ava after slipping the amulet over his head and pointed ears, the weight of the knife a small comfort in his hands. He felt a bit better that he had some sort of protection lest matters get worse, even though it wasn't much. His thoughts went to his family, hoping and praying silently that they were safe and unharmed. He tried not to think about what would happen if he came back to find that one of his own children was missing, like the one that the search party had left to find. Joseth knew that he needed to stay back to help defend those still here. The clay-colored man leaned against a nearby wall, turning the knife over and over in his hands.

Both Amory and Thian had kept themselves occupied with the demon's new familiar while some of the others had gone out to help find some missing child, but now that the adults were handing out knives, playing with a Vespercat seemed less important than getting in on that action. Amory was pretty sure her friend had only been using the familiar as an excuse anyway, and her suspicions were all but confirmed by the way he made a wide arc around those who were beginning to lose consciousness. Thian was afraid.
She took his hand in what she hoped was reassurance, grabbing a knife and amulet with the other.
"Could you?" Amory said, indicating the amulet and her neck.

"Sure," Thian said, taking the amulet from Amory and looping it over her head before checking that it was securely in place. He got his on without help, and when he turned back to the chimera, knife in hand, he was surprised to feel a small smile lift his lips. He was about ready to piss himself, but at least he could now go out causing as much damage as possible. The Vespercat twined around his ankles again and he nudged it comfortingly with his leg.
"If you're throwing me toward one of those things, make sure it gets me in the neck. I think I'd look hot with that s**t crawling up my face." He rolled his eyes and shook his head, wising he were anywhere but here.

Illya tucked the knife into her belt and put the amulet around her neck. It was clear that these were both for protection, so there was no point in not keeping them nearby, no matter how upset she was at the idea of using these against students and civilians. She sat back down at Adalyn's side and watched Chervil spread disinfectant on the wounds. "Hard to say. It doesn't look like it's contagious except through bites, so I don't know if we're in immediate danger yet or not. But if we are, I'm not leaving until the last possible moment," she said. "I'm not leaving until there's no other option." She sighed. "If I have to leave, though--if there are other people I can protect--I couldn't live with myself if I hadn't protected them. I know it's not a comforting thought, but..." She trailed off, uncertain of what else she could say."

Kuni nodded gratefully. He was so glad that Ava understood. He was so glad. He gulped and took a knife and an amulet delicately, then set them aside nearby. He wasn't sure if he should touch them. He wasn't sure if he should go for them.
But if this is like a zombie movie, and we turn into the things that bit us... He closed his eyes and thought about Naihilus, and Jie, and Oriset, and Wyrdda, and all those children he'd been comforting those hours ago... I won't let myself do that.
The knives were enchanted, weren't they? And the amulets?
Yes. They should do the job.Yushika Sorry for how depressing/disturbing Kuni's post here got. xP

Ruby gratefully took the water bottle Chunli brought her, pressing it to her forehead first. "You can say that again," she wheezed, letting a winded chuckle pass through her lips. She cracked open the bottle and began to sip delicately at the water. Her mouth and throat were dry, but she was afraid that if she drank too much too fast she would just cough it all back up.
"Did you pick out a knife?" She grinned at her search partner, who seemed to have grown a backbone in the few hours they'd known each other. "That's pretty badass. I lost my bat when that thing bit me. I don't know how much more fighting I wanna do tonight, though." The Fallen felt tired, winded. Walking around the entire school for a couple hours wore her out, on top of being attacked, and feeling ill from the bite she received. If she could just get back to her dorm and curl up in bed for the next month or so, she'd be alright with that.
