Username: GunSniper

Soquili Name: Aeronniell
Temper: Unpredictable

Personality: Aeronniell is well educated on the proper edicate of being a noble born horse. However, when important heads are turned she has a very wild side that leaves many wondering if this is the same being, or if she has some mental disorder. As the tides she is unpredictable at times. Spontaneous and a deepened desire for adventure. The palace life can be so boring.
Background: Born to a King and Queen of their own herd she had been brought up in the manner a princess should, and given the image a princess of noble blood should have. Still, even as a filly she gave trouble to the servants and other members of the court. Pulling pranks and running about where restraint should have been displayed. Her parents had to bribe many of the nobles to keep their mouths shut and her image retained. Eventually she was introduced to another, much more docile, foal in hopes he would keep her under control. Their friendship was a great one from the start and as expected did help ease her wild side enough to tolerable amounts.

As she grew older she begun to watch the seas, noting a strange presence hanging about the borders of the land. Her heart instantly yearned for the freedom that stallion had. This yearning was taken as a longing to be with that very being and every night she begun to sneak out of the palace to meet with this gypsy. The more time she spent with him the more that wild filly begun to surface again and the more Aeronniell desired nothing more than to be free of
Character Quirks:
Impulsive - Literally, she has random and at times very extreme impulses to do things. Run, tackle, play ...etc. She can carry being a princess very well, but she can also flip cookies on a dime.

Nieve - She is very trusting to those who she thinks are alike mind to her own. Aeronniell believes the world around can bring her no harm.

Actress - Aeronniell is great with putting on a mask, she can take on any persona she puts her mind to, so long as it can hold her interest. For her parents she has put on a princess mask so she can keep their wrath at bay and keep their eyes from what has been really going on.

Soquili Name: Mikael
Temper: Devious

Personality:
They say that the devil himself bears heartbreaking beauty and holds power over the very mind and heart of those that hear him. While Mikael is hardly the devil, he tries his hardest. Power is his ambrosia and greed is his lifeblood. Perhaps there is a heart within his frozen breast, and he does a damn good job convincing fillies of it, but even he has his doubts.

Mikael prides himself on his silver tongue. He was born with the rare gift of charm and can, when he feels up to the task, speak like a poet. Stories come to him easily and he can speak with such conviction that he could convince a flutter-hearted filly that she is the only filly in the world and every feature on her form was formed by the divines themselves.

Background:
Mikael is the product of a long line of daddy issues. His father, like his father before him and his father before him was a b*****d. Both in lineage and behavior. They were ruthless gypsy lords that ruled ruthlessly over herds formed of like-minded horses with little regard for honor, save for what they could define as their own code of sorts, and even less regard for the personal property and riches of others. Like his father before him (and his father before him), he was thrown from the herd when he was growing old enough to challenge his father’s position. Like his father before him (and his before him) he decided to form his own herd in whatever way possible, vowing that his herd would hold more influence, stronger bloodlines, and greater riches and territory than those that came before.

It’s very likely that Mikael’s own offspring would have continued this legacy for several more generations to come.

Character Quirks:
• Selfish. Mikael’s world revolves around himself.
• Greedy. Who says there’s a limit to how much wealth is too much?
• Deceptive. He’s a damn good liar. Sometimes he even believes himself!
• Arrogant. Perhaps it’s blinding.
• A cheat. He’s even good at cheating himself out of his own destiny.

Soquili Name: Vodnik
Temper: Awkward

Personality: At first, Vodnik is going to be shy and awkward. He stammers over his own words and doesn't really know what to say around anyone, including family members. More often than no, no one can hear a word he's saying and he has to speak up, which causes him great embarassment. He stutters if he's under pressure or just not feeling at ease; like if someone is demanding an answer to a question then and there.

As the story progresses, Vodnik is going to over come this. He's going to learn how to speak up and be more confident in himself in order to protect the ones he loves from evil. He is going to still be a little awkward, but no where near as bad as he used to be. Never will Vodnik get cocky or arrogant. He knows that is many a horses down fall and does not want to be on the path to ruin. Too many people will count on him.
Background:
He was born to a simple, small herd, or kingdom. His parents were very loving to him growing up and he was the only child they bore. His mother and father were older when they had him, believing that they'd never have a child. Thus, Vodnik was treated with such great care and gentleness. He never had a voice raised to him, never had too much pressure, political or otherwise, on him.

Vodnik never had to publicly speak or address anyone before, so he never worked on his communications skills. Instead, he was learning about his kingdom and the neighbors kingdom. He kept his nose stuck in the books because he had no brothers to fight with, no sisters to protect. His parents saw nothing wrong in him keeping to himself until he started showing interest in mares around the Kingdom.

He was much to shy to ever speak to them, so he watched as the mares he fancied fell in love with some well spoken, or loud, stallions. That's when Vodnik's father gave him a nudge to the neighboring kingdom, knowing they had a beautiful Princess with a wild heart. Vodnik's father hoped that it would help the stallion come out of the turtle shell he had raised him into and strengthen and expand both kingdoms.
Character Quirks: Slight stutter when he's nervous. Talks really softly. Tends to duck his head an aweful lot.

The Story
It was during a gypsy’s moon that the princess Aeronniel and the Gypsy mummer Mikael met. His seemingly lazy and yet still wild nature intrigued her and as time went on, that intrigue led her deeper and deeper into the tangled web of the gypsy’s nature. His wild tales, heavy with implications and thinly veiled flattery soon ensnared the heart of the princess. Losing sight of her curiosity and instead finding herself snared by the gypsy’s charms, the princess divulged information regarding her own life; her family’s wealth, positions of power, and inner strife fell off her lips in hopes of impressing the silver-tongued rogue.

To a gypsy, such information is as good as gold. Romani Mikael did nothing to discourage the princess’ loose tongue and hung off of her every word, rewarding her tales with silky complements and warm smiles. As the depth of Princess Aeronniel’s wealth and influence deepened in his mind, so did his roots of influence over the princess. If he won her heart and appeased her father, the king, then the wealth, power, and influence would be his to inherit. That is… after the king was properly disposed of.

But as the moon shines on the night, the sun must also shine on the day. With the darkness came the gypsy moon and with the day came the warm light of the golden sun. A handsome, fair-maned youth frequented the princess that was set to inherit his neighbor to the south. Prince Vodnik had been nudged southward in the interest of his own father’s kingdom but upon seeing the lovely gem of his neighbor’s domain it took less and less insisting on his father’s part to send his hooves to the threshold of their ally’s territory. As the night hides dark secrets and unspeakable sin, the light reveals the contents of even the darkest shadow. Vodnik was the parallel to the shadow-stalking gypsy in nearly every way. Where Mikael was a liar, a cheat, and entertained thoughts of the most terrible sort, Vodnik was honest, forthright, and thought only of virtue. Unfortunately, the gypsy’s strength was also the prince’s weakness. Where Mikael could speak silky untruths with the utmost confidence and conviction, honey dripping from every word, Vodnik’s truths were weighted with uncertainty and veiled by a soft, muttering tone. He tried, to little avail, to speak to the princess. A word or two would break above a whisper but the rest found themselves falling flat, retreating back to the depths of his throat and curdling like sour milk in the pit of his stomach. The princess was an understanding sort and felt true sympathy for the poor, bashful youth, but even her patience knew its limit. She would indulge the prince long enough to be polite then excuse herself with a headache or some idle task.

Concerned about the princess’ near daily afflictions and near daily exhaustion, Vodnik sought out one of the princess’ servants and asked after the princess’ health. Concern turned quickly to outrage as the servant revealed the nightly happenings of the princess. By the light of the moon the princess would trot down the coastline along the waveswept sand to cover her tracks. Her faithful companion, an octopus named Carl'lil would signal a night time visitor with three waves of the lantern it wielded. The servant saw only a shadow and heard only soft laughter and hushed tones from the visitor.

Too afraid to confront the princess and too cross to speak eloquently, the prince returned to his kingdom in bitter, brooding silence. For three full months the princess would take her midnight stroll by the shoreline, the lantern would beckon three times, and the gypsy would emerge from the shadows to entertain his seaside pearl. With each passing day the sweet, warm words of the gypsy would weave its spell upon the heart of the princess. With each tale of selfless romance and mysterious lands, the gypsy’s snare tightened. At the end of the season, the gypsy asked after the hoof of the princess and without hesitation, she accepted his proposal. The following morning, Mikael was brought before the father of the princess, a proud sea-stallion who had taken the name Poseidon.

His daughter’s mannerisms had not gone unnoticed. By day she would gaze out towards the sea and sigh to herself when she thought none were paying her any mind. She frequently made observations that only a fluttering heart could take with any degree of seriousness, and at times she used terms and words that had never before graced her speech. At long last, but at the same time all too soon, the object of her affections was brought to him. He looked this one in the eye with the fierceness of a father and the authority of a king. For hours the gypsy was interrogated, questioned, and battered with stern words but the mummer’s verbal dance held all the grace of a jungle cat and all the seductive sense of a siren’s song. It was all too clear that the devil had won the heart of his daughter, but so great was Poseidon’s love for his one treasure that he could not bear to stand between her and what his beloved felt was her chance at love. Hesitantly, and begrudgingly, Poseidon granted the couple his blessing.

Unfortunately, this action very well might have cost him a strong alliance with his neighbor to the north. His long time friend, the ruling stallion of a neighboring seaside kingdom, had fathered a fine young colt. They had arranged to have their offspring meet and hope that the two would fall for one another, but it seemed fate had other arrangements for them. However, the shyness that the prince had shown, even as a younger colt, had been crippling. Posedion was growing in age and wished only to live to see his lineage continued on. Where Vodnik had hesitated, bold Mikael had charged forth. Rather than arrange an immediate wedding, Posedion decided upon a winter solstice wedding. Perhaps envy would spur meek Vodnik to step from his colthood and grow into the bold stallion his kingdom sorely needed. If not- then clever Mikael deserved his prize.

The gypsy, ever the opportunist, quickly learned the shifts and habits of those around the royal herd. He knew when the watchers would descend theirs posts atop the surrounding hills and when their replacements would take their posts. He learned when the king would take his leave and retire for the night and when secret engagements between the common fillies and the royal guards would turn the eyes of the royal watch. He learned the movements of the herd the way a dancer would learn the most intricate of waltzes. Most importantly- he learned how to perform his own dance without turning so much as an eye.

What Mikael could not learn was the habits of one who had none to be learned. The prince Vodnik had only been a name tossed into light conversation or a word preceding a joke. Testing his dance-step, Mikael stole away into the royal treasure trove and selected a fine satchel filled with golden coins and gems. Gifts from neighboring kingdoms and the common equines to celebrate the news of the princess’ future wedding. A good deal of coin would catch the attention of other stallions of the night who had little objections to dirtying their hooves in royal blood. Stepping silently from the trove, he met with a tall, lean stallion with eyes the color of a stormy sea.

Vodnik might not have been a bold stallion but he was far from a fool and knew a thievery when he saw it. Calling a challenge, he tore the satchel from the thief’s maw and tossed it to the ground. The coins and gems rang out, echoing through the cave and shattered the tranquility of the night. Little did he know, Vodnik had cornered the very stallion who had so easily seduced his own treasure. The betrothed of the princess. When the royal stallions darkened the mouth of the treasure trove, the accusation of thievery was thrown onto Vodnik. Having little reason to doubt the betrothed of their princess, the guards made their arrest and kicked, nipped, and crowded the prince to face the king’s judgment.

News of the incident reached the princess’ ears and soon she joined the hearing. Vodnik insisted that he had only been within the territory to see the princess but Mikael insisted that the prince had been so consumed with envy and shame that if he could not return to his kingdom with a bride, he would return instead with a mountain of riches. Despite the prince’s cries for innocence, the king could not deem Mikael as a liar if he wished to keep his daughter’s honor intact. Before issuing his judgment, Aeronniell interjected on behalf of the prince. Rather than having the young stallion trampled or sent into shameful exile, she would keep him at her side until the truth of the matter could be established. Mikael was less than happy with this arrangement but was forced to comply in order to save face. After all, if he was innocent what was there to hide?

The king granted the princess custody of the suspected thief so long as she never allowed him from her sight. For the moment, the compromise avoided any hostilities between herds and kept the prince from returning home. It was punishment enough. The two were often accompanied by the princess’ beloved Mikael but there were times that the gypsy would slip off to attend to something of a personal nature, leaving the princess with her captive.

Slowly, just as the sun peeks out from behind a veil of clouds following a storm, the prince’s good nature began to shine through. He would offer the better grazing patches to the princess or pull a sand dollar from the sea to decorate the mare’s mane with. All he had suspected regarding the princess and her charms was only solidifying in his mind, and in turn all the princess had doubted to exist in the prince’s own heart was beginning to shine through. Soon the quiet laugher and hushed conversations belonged to them… and from a distance Mikael knew that his woven spell was slowly falling loose.

Desperation makes even the most cunning of us into brash, sloppy fools and this was no different for vengeful Mikael. In the dark of night and whenever he found a moment away from the princess’ gaze, he would slip back to the treasure cove. Piece by piece, the royal treasury was raided and the pieces slipped into the knot of a tree, the very same tree that Vodnik had been assigned to sleep under.

Fortune sometimes favors the unfortunate and so it was that Vodnik happened upon this stash in the early morning hours. He was being set up yet again. Swallowing his outrage, he woke the princess with a light n** to her ear and silently brought her to the gypsy’s stash. Vodnik was many things, but a decent liar he was not and stealth was not a word that should share the same spoken statement as his name. Believing his innocence and commending his honesty, the princess roused her father. Perhaps the king truly believed his daughter or perhaps he simply wanted an alternative to gypsy blood mingling with his. Whatever the reason, the charges on Vodnik’s name were dropped and instead shackled to the gypsy.

Heartbroken, the princess was forced to order the search and arrest of the gypsy but try as they did, even the king’s most talented stallions were unable to track the beast. It was as if the night itself had swallowed him up. Some believe he was the element brought forth to bring the two herds together, others believe he had even deeper plans laid out…

Future Plots and Ideas
-- RP Vodnik and Aeronniell's relationship out after the story takes place.
-- Eventually have Aeronniell and Mikael meet up again.
-- Maybe have Vodnik and Mikael fight because of what Mikael did to Vodnik.
-- Have Vodnik and Aeronniell eventually life mated and bred.
-- Eventually we'll establish both 'kingdoms'. They are herds, but we do want to RP this story out and get these herds up and running, joining them together one day in the future when the Prince and Princess get married.
-- Set up this gypsy caravan and have a herd of new gypsy horses.

Soquili Name: Hara Aihe
(Hara is Maori for Princess and Aihe Dolphin ^_^)
Temper: Impressionable

Personality:
Aihe was born to a loving family and in turn is very loving herself, she is one with a kind and tender soul with lots of love and kindness to give to all whom she meets. She has been told that her smile could brighten the darkest sky and her voice could calm the raging seas. She is a deep believer of her people's culture and she cherish the earth in all her forms. She especially loves gardening both below and above the water, especially above since it's more 'strange' and different. She finds all the colors of the world beautiful, but nothing can beat the view from beneath the waves with the light of the sun and the moon shining and reflecting like a sea of diamonds.

Aihe carries her self as one would expect a member of the royal family to although she does have her clumsy moments especially when she gets over excited and tries to rush herself, luckily her octopus friend-Etera(Maori for Aid) helps to remind her to keep her composure and a level head....but that doesn't mean she always follows the advice. She is rather intelligent though she may sometimes appear to be a ditz, but mostly that's her clumsiness showing through. Despite her intelligence and great upbringing she was still sheltered from the world and without many outside experiences she is rather naive and impressionable when meeting outsiders especially when they can see her feelings as she doesn't think twice to repress them. She does enjoy meeting with her subjects and they love to see her, but she is always with guards and protectors so the few times she has snuck out on her own she has almost gotten into some sticky situations believing what she is told without a second thought from those seeking to take advantage of her.

Background:
Aihe was born into a royal family in a successful and beautiful ocean kingdom that was rich in their cultures. On the outside everything was bright and cheery and most on the inside was too, but not everything was good. The kingdom had fallen on hard times many years before Aihe was born, they were at war with another kingdom. Many lives were lost and it took its toll on both kingdoms until finally an arrangement was made, an arrangement of marriage to finally bring peace to the kingdoms and join them forever. Though the two kingdoms had their differences in time their cultures combined bearing life to a new and grander one. This arrangement took place between Aihe's grandparents who did come to love each other and it was an honorable thing to do. After that time the years have passed by in peace and the kingdom prospered and Aihe was born receiving all the luxury and happiness one could ever hope for their child. Aihe loves her family and her subjects and she never thought about leaving....that was until the day that 'HE' showed up and turned her world upside down...but the repercussions of her actions and decision that followed would cause the kingdom to fall on dark times....a sadness would fall that would pain the peaceful kingdom more then the Princess could ever have imagined.

Character Quirks:
She can be very impressionable and naive, especially since she lived a sheltered life and tends to wear her heart on her hoof leaving her susceptible to being taken advantage of and hurt.

She is also a bit of a klutz when she gets over excited and tries to rush, despite when Etera tries to remind her of who and what she is and tries to get her to be calm.

Soquili Name: Demetri The Wanderer
Temper: Shrouded

Personality:
Demetri can come across as a very mysterious figure he has been a traveler his entire life. He knows how to get the job done if need to be for example telling his stories of wonder and amazement. He has shrouded and lost his past to the tales he spins whenever he finds someone willing to listen. His grip on reality had slowly unraveled and he believes with all his heart that he is a true gypsy without a purpose cursed to wander forever.

He has a very teasing personality like that of a trickster. He always has something up his sleeve but you can never know what. He always talks with a bit of an accent from his homeland where that may have been. He will always have the same personality as no one can ever go deep enough to change the past and what happened.
He can stare into a fire for hours on end looking past the flames and into his past. Of course its just his mind doing those things but it makes him think he has some sort of power even though he is only a very normal stallion. His personality brings out the fact that he loves to reenact the tales he says and often will dance to help tell the tales.

Background:
Demetri started traveling at a very young age his parents did not want him to leave. They knew his ways and of how he always talked of adventure and far off lands. An argument between them led to him leaving home for good in search of the places from the stories his parents used to tell him. He did have other family members including an older brother and sister being the youngest of them he was always being picked on by someone.

As he grew older he started slipping further into the stories he weaved and almost completely forgot about his past and where he came from. When he first met the princess he had no intention of staying with her he had felt no feelings for anyone in so long after his first heartbreak. He had no idea what would happen but had a feeling it would not be anything good.

Character Quirks: Demetri has a fear of breaking someone else heart or having his broken again. After his first love ran away from him he has twisted the tale so that he could forget her and move on.
He sometimes will get so deep into his stories he talks as if he was the main character from the story. His expression will grow still but he will keep talking and act just like the one in the story.

Sometimes his jokes end up going to far but he tries to make sure they stay in an ok range as he never gets mad himself. He would rather solve something by talking than fighting or dueling.
He loves to eat seaweed but others think him weird for that
His accent can change very suddenly depending on what is being discussed

Soquili Name: Rongo Kaikautu (Rongo Meaning- Peace Kaihautu meaning- Leader
Temper: Balanced

Personality: Traditional gaia_left Femininely Awkward gaia_left Peaceful
 Traditional- Rongo is very traditional. He respects the ways of the elders and how things have always been done. He is a stickler for tradition so much that it can overpower all other aspects of his personality. It’s like the concept that rules are meant to be respected and never challenged. That’s not to say he’s close minded but he is very stubborn in looking at the views beyond what is tradition, needless to say he isn’t very fond of sudden change. Likewise he believes that chivalry hasn’t died, and that a true stallion can see worth in mares as equals and still pamper them like queens.
 Femininely Awkward- For all that he feels that mares should be pampered he doesn’t have the foggiest idea where to start with mares. He doesn’t understand them as hard as he tries and while he knows that he should be able to find feelings toward them he doesn’t seem to have ever felt that way towards a mare. He doesn’t know if it’s just that he hasn’t found one he can understand or if it’s just that he is funny. Even when it comes down to doing what he knows he is suppose to do he can still make a mess of things with a mare.
 Peaceful- He likes balance, he doesn’t like conflict. When things are equal and even things are balanced and when things are balanced then things are peaceful. At least that is his logic. He likes to be a mediator and seeks to find a “win win” solution to every situation while sticking to the rules.

Background:
-Rongo came from a land living royal family. The land they reigned over was well provided for even if his family preferred to do their business with delegates as opposed to the people directly. You could say they lived like they were above the people, he could never understand just why they were better beyond their lineage, his great-great grandfather had gathered the Soquili as a means of protection against a bad winter during that winter he had led the herd to survival but he didn’t understand why that made his family so much better.

-He wasn’t born to loving parents but rather parent’s that expected more of him at all times. He was always looked at as second best and because of that he was looked down upon by his parents, he didn’t have a miserable life though. He was raised with love heedless of his parents. His caretaker had been a kindly old mare that had once had a son before he’d been taken by a kalona. She taught him to see things as a commoner would. She taught him to honor his elders and tradition and she reminded him every day of such things till she died shortly before Rongo reached adulthood.

-A brother’s bond isn’t forced but forged through blood. Despite never being as good as his brother as far as his parents were concerned Rongo grew up close to his brother Haki. Haki praised Rongo in ways that their parents never could see because they were so blinded by favoritism. The two together would make a dynamic duo, where one lacked the other made up. Rongo the more peaceful and Haki the hot headed, when Haki would get worked Rongo could calm him down, and where Rongo would get walked all over Haki would step up and show Rongo that he needed to defend himself in such ways. They made each other the fairly well balanced stallions they grew into. Haki taught Rongo the true worth of self, a very important lesson that never fully got to take root. Shortly after reaching adulthood Rongo was sent off to a beautiful kingdom to be with a lovely mare.

Character Quirks:
-Sometimes he gets so worked up into something that he forgets to eat
-He gets irritable when he can’t find a win win solution
-He loves to collect sea shells that are broken
-When he’s bored he’ll toss his hair back and forth like he’s shaking his head

The Story
<>

Night after night the Gypsy continued to visit the princess, unaware of the unseen observer. Before long the Princess fell for the mysterious Gypsy. She didn’t fall softly either she fell hard. Head over heels, can’t eat, can’t sleep, and reach for the stars over the fence, World Series kind of love. Meanwhile the prince watched and observed. Each night she seemed a little farther from his reach. Once the night ended and the day began he would try going to her and telling her how he felt but he couldn’t knowing that the spark in her eyes that grew stronger each day was put there by the gypsy. The prince hoped she’d see the gypsy for what he was, a trickster looking to pull on her heart strings and break her heart just for sport. The prince knew that the gypsy would would never really love her he just couldn’t find a way to tell her. He couldn’t tell her how he felt or how the gypsy would leave her and break her heart. So the meetings continued.

One night the prince however decided to act. He couldn’t see the Princess continue seeing the gypsy. He knew she would fall harder and then the gypsy leaving would hurt her even more. The Prince felt she still had time and could recover and live a regular life if it ended soon, so he decided to be the ending factor. He’d find out if he could talk the gypsy into revealing his true plans with the princess. The Prince wasn’t the only one who made a decision about this night though; The Princess had a plan of her own. Tonight was the night that she would declare her love to the Gypsy so that he’d have no doubt about how she loved him. She wasn’t ready to run away with him because she had a few things to arrange first but this one step was good enough for the night. She was ready to spend her life with him and she couldn’t keep that from him another night more.

Night fell across the land and soon the meeting would happen. This time the Prince was ready for it. Rather than be an observer from the castle he laid in wait in the shadows. He’d get to the gypsy after the meeting. He would let them have their last night together. The Princess slipped outside to where she would meet her gypsy. The Gypsy came to the Princess as usual. It had become a regular visit. He stole away into the night heading to where he’d first happened upon the Princess. She’d longed for adventure something different from the life she’d been living and he’d seen a beautiful prey. This night he brought her a rare necklace that he’d gotten from a troll who’d brought the necklace from a land even he couldn’t travel to. As expected she was there waiting for him and a beautiful sight to behold to anyone that would look upon her.

He dipped his head in humble greeting as he moved forward toward her. “Today my gift comes from a land even farther than you can even think to travel, a land full of magic.” He pulled forth the necklace laced with shark teeth and colorful beads.
“It’s amazing” She gasped in wonder. She leaned forward and he slipped the necklace over her head so that it would fall upon her chest. The Princess shifted on her hooves before saying more. “My mysterious and wonderful Gypsy… all these nights something has begun to stir inside me and I can no longer keep my heart from the truth.”
The gypsy rose cocked his head to the side and looked curiously at the princess. This was the first time she’d said such a thing. “Tell me your heart’s desire.”
“I’ve found that I have fallen in love with you. My Heart skips a beat when you are near, it’s like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I love my people, but I’ve come to love you more and I wish to flee this place, for all time with you at my side dear Gypsy… through the long days and ever cold lonely nights.”
“You don’t know what you truly ask for. You should sleep on this.” With his words said he decided to cut their evening visit quite short. He’d gotten in too deep with the Princess. The Gypsy turned away and started walking.
“My heart has seen in you something that cannot be duplicated. You shall find my desire to follow it unchanging.” She called after him.
The gypsy continued away, but he thought about the word love. He didn’t love her he knew that deep down. They’d been meeting for quite some time though. He’d told her stories and every now and then brought her little trinkets that she always adored. He’d merely sought to bring the beautiful creature pleasure in her trapped life. Had he developed feelings for her along the way? He was sure he hadn’t but a nagging feeling had him doubting his self confidence in such a thought

The Prince watched as the Gypsy neared him and he was finally prepared. He couldn’t speak up to the mare that he was fond of but this Gypsy stallion was another story. “Gypsy you’ve been seeing my Princess for far too long.”
The Gypsy looked to the shadows to see a lighter stallion among the shadows. “I merely sought to bring light to the pretty mare’s life.”
“You’ve done more than bring light to her life. You’ve stolen her heart with impure intention”
“I assure you I never sought to steal anything from her least of all her heart.”
“You may not have tried but you did. Now she’s in love with you”
“I cannot help that and I assure you my gifts were never with impure intention as you suggest.”
“Well what are your plans to deal with this? Do you intend to feed her foolish thoughts? Will you take her away? Can you provide for her in the way she is use to? In a way only a prince could truly provide for her?”
“I could never provide for her so.”
“You should make the smart decision. Make the right decision. Leave her be and never return.”
The Gypsy never responded. He merely walked on leaving the Prince behind in the night. The Prince was right he should leave the Princess alone but why did it make him sad to think about never seeing her again. He really had gotten in too deep with the Princess. He had fallen in love with her and he hadn’t even realized it was occurring. This love was different than anything he’d ever felt before. He knew he could never see her again. He could never give her the life she was use to, the life she deserved, and the life he was sure she expected. If she were to come with him she’d grow tired of his life and then be miserable.

The Gypsy never returned after that night. For a month the Princess was in denial and every night she would be outside sure the gypsy would return, He’d say he was caught on an adventure, that he loved her and never wanted to be away so long from her again, and every morning kept upon her telling her yet another night passed without him visiting. Her heart broke again each and every morning. Once she got beyond denial she swore to never love again. She would do what was expected of her, she would one day take the Prince as her mate. They were intended to be together since the day she’d broke free from her basket. It would be a very loveless relationship but it would appease her family.

And so a year passed since the Gypsy’s disappearance. The Princess never forgot him but life had become easier. She didn’t dread becoming the mate of the Prince. She’d enjoyed being with him well enough. They had pleasant talks and he showered her in beautiful trinkets that she absolutely loved. Things were going well for the intended couple. She’d told him about the meetings with the Gypsy and he’d been calm and understanding. He’d even said he was glad she’d trusted him enough to tell her about that time. The Prince was everything that the Princess should want but she knew that there was something missing and it was something that would wake her up some nights.

One night when she woke up because there was something missing she decided to seek out the Prince. Surely the Prince would know the answer she sought, perhaps even seeing him would calm her worries that brought on the dream. She could never remember the dream just the feelings it left. She made her way quietly to where he slept not wanting to wake up anyone else. When she came upon his room his door was cracked and she could hear voices she was about to walk away when she heard the word Gypsy. She hesitated and then leaned closer to the crack to better hear what was being said. She could hear the Prince distinctly. “You’re sure it was the Gypsy you saw leaving the land?”
“Affirmative.” The other voice said.
“You know sometimes I wonder if I made the wrong choice telling him to leave the princess alone?”
“You protected her from getting hurt sir.”
“Yes I suppose you’re right. He could never provide for her as I have.”
The Princess didn’t hear anything after that. She was too shocked to believe what she heard. She had to get to her Gypsy but how? She knew he had to love her if he hadn’t returned. Being warned off he must have doubted his ability to care for her. She’d just have to convince him she didn’t care about this pampered life. The biggest question was how. How was she to get to him? If she ran the Prince would find her. He’d search for her. There was no escape. She’d have to die to ever be rid of him. That was when she got an idea to be free of her life so she could go on to love her gypsy as she longed to do. She would stage her death. She knew who to talk to about it as well, the big guy wasn’t a gypsy but he’d traveled far and wide and was currently staying nearby because his mate needed the rest.

The next day wearing her shark tooth necklace the Princess set out to find the large blue stallion. He was large and knew a variety of herbs and if he didn’t have an herb to help her, his size would help. He sounded uncivilized when he spoke but behind his words was a raw intelligence and she was sure he’d know and if she couldn’t convince him his dainty mate would sympathize with her and then he’d help her. When she came upon the spot where they’d been staying she found them plus another large stallion with vicious looking spikes. Boldly she walked out to the trio her goal in mind and she wasn’t going to take no for an answer. She told them her problem and what she needed as she feared the big blue guy didn’t like the idea but his little mate nudged him and he caved. They understood real love as odd as theirs was and the other large stallion laughed entertained at the idea.

It took a few days for the stallions to set up the accident area, and then a few more for them to find a body that would resemble hers to a degree. It didn’t really need much detail beyond her body color, and size, as it was going to be crushed in a landslide. The final touch was going to be getting the Prince there to witness the accident. She set back home on the last day of preparation with less weight on her shoulders. Everything was in place and soon she’d be on her way to go see her Gypsy.

The next morning while the light was just coming to the land the Princess was up and ready to journey out, she’d found the Prince yesterday before he’d gone to sleep and convinced him to come see a beautiful valley that she’d found while exploring. They would be leaving as soon as he’d eaten his breakfast. She had butterflies in her stomach half excitement and half nerves. She was going to stage her death and she had to do it right so he’d believe it really happened. Too early and he’d miss it completely and not think she’d died, and too late he’d know she’d staged her death and wouldn’t be fooled cause he’d see her escaping. Her biggest hope was that the dainty southern bell of a mare would be able to convince him she was under the dirt.

They started out side by side in the beautiful light. She made small talk so it wouldn’t seem awkward each moment they got closer. Then they came upon the darker stallion who’d help make the arrangements. He warned them that the ground ahead had been giving way dangerously bad. She waved him off saying she’d never seen such a thing and she’d been this way many times. Acting playful she nudged the prince and challenged him to a race up and over the hill that led to the valley. Once he agreed she took off with him close behind. She needed only to get over the hills and then she’d be free of the life she was imprisoned in. She was over the girl and then the ground actually gave way under her and she screamed. The light above her was quickly snuffed out and then she heard the sound of ground falling. Then came the words of a hysterical mare that still sounded proper. The prince’s voice was the next to follow. She realized she was right by them the dainty mare between the prince and her. She was playing blocker. She had covered the hole. The princess frowned at her landing though. It had been cushioned by a soft bed of something but it had still jarred her in mid run, and so it hurt. The hysterics were beginning to calm and she heard the prince order the mare to stay there as he went and got help to rescue the princess. She knew she’d succeed in faking her death but she was stuck there in the dark.

A light ahead of her told her she was no longer alone. The large dark stallion was walking down the tunnel with a torch in his mouth. He looked like he barely fit in the tunnel it was so small. She wasn’t sure how he’d be getting back out of the tunnel but she didn’t question it. When he stopped up ahead of her she continued forward. He tossed his head to the right as she neared him and she saw that beside him was a small alcove she would fit in. She thanked him and he nudged her ahead of him as he turned around. She started forward when she heard a loud noise behind them. She jerked her head to see him lowering his leg. He’d slammed a rear hoof against the dirt wall by the alcove and the tunnel started to come down. He nudged her once more and they hurried running as dirt started to fall down upon them. They barely made it out of the tunnel the bulk of it having been temporarily held up by his sheer size.

This was it. She’d escaped her staged death. She was very dirty but her heart seemed a thousand times lighter knowing she could go and return to her Gypsy. “My Heart yearns for the love it knew so briefly… my darling Gypsy, wait for me. I’m coming to you.”

She longs to travel like that again being able to stop when she find something interesting. One day when her family was out walking a beach she found and odd sliver colored item fascinated by it she turned it into a decoration for her tiara. Soquili Name: Nycomani
Temper: Cunning

Personality: - Suave/Charismatic - Nycomani has that kind of presence and smile that makes you want to smile back. You can’t help but warm up to him. The stallion seems so trustworthy and warm. He was born with a natural 18 in charisma. ^_^ The way he speaks, the way he looks at you it has such caring and expression that he charms the uncharmable. Not everyone can be wooed but Nyco is laid back and doesn’t really care if they are wooed or not. When someone gets angry with him, he tries to soothe them with a little grin. Grins and words, witty comments and “heartfelt” sentiments are what this stallion is full of. He would be a great politician, spewing words to you that seem so safe and comforting. Nyco uses his gift for words and smiles not to further the lives of his herd but to sway the hearts of the lovely mares and stallions out there.
- Deceptive - Using that natural charisma, he will omit the truth or speak half truths at times. He feeds others what they wish to hear to get them off his back. Nycomani will bluff and beguile to give a false sense of security and assurance. Mostly to get out of trouble. It comes naturally to him and at times he’ll only recognize that he was deceiving after the fact of the matter.
- Observant - Nycomani tends to notice the little things. He tends to look more at the smaller details than the larger picture. When something is out of place he tends to know because he'll catalogue it. Nyco is also observant when it comes to other soquili. This is an ongoing trait of his as he continues to learn from all his interactions with people, as everyone is different.
- Sarcastic - Nycomani has a light hearted sarcastic and prankster side. He is a stallion that loves the free life and the life of speaking your mind. He has a good sense of humor that is there to be witty and charming. A subpart of his charm is wit and sarcasm are well know amonst those he once traveled with.
Background: Nycomani is a traveler amonst the night stars. He has traveled far and wide wooing those of the soquili race. Well not really but he has traveled far and wide going on travels of exploration, mystery and seeking. He was raised amongst the night sky by travelers and has stayed with travelers since. He is a gypsy, a romani, a wanderer. Everywhere he goes he finds a coin and has it added to the scarf around his head. A token to the man of the travels he had been along. As he didn't stay with the herd long, he found other wandering stallions and mares to share the time with. The water and moon his guide. The stallion has come to a land where he felt a sense of peace. Though this was not always there.
Nycomani was born into a herd of many riches. Whether with the talents of song, story, art, or mysticism, the wandering troupe was a prominant one. He was born to the mother and the stalwart guardian of the tales. In line to be the next herd stallion Nycomani felt better wandering his own, creating his own stories instead of telling old ones. Nyco decided that the rights would go to his younger sister. The clan was very disappointed by this but he had already gone off by this point. The brilliant colors of his coat and a scarf his mother made for him "with the fabrics of souls" are his only markers of his rich and fruitful background. Nyco holds this past to himself and hasn't shared this with anyone but with a princess who has stolen his heart, though he had intended to steal hers.
Character Quirks:
- Nycomani has wanderlust, it's hard for him to stay in place for too long.
- He likes to sing as he travels, he is a beautiful baritone.
- He is a fan of little trinkets and tokens, loves all them glitters and gold
- He is a renaissance man, a jack of all trades so to say
- Nycomani does not like high hot or real cold weather. *is a wuss when it comes to the weather extremes*
- Though he tends to be a flirt, he is a die hard romantic.

The Prince

Username: Redbud-Tree

Soquili Name: Amphoros
Temper: Pretentious

Personality: Amphoros is the heir of a small but powerful kingdom, and he acts like it. Trained as a warrior and a leader since birth, he has a strong sense of duty, obligation, and little to no fear of physical danger. He is, however, deeply insecure underneath it all and somewhat frightened that he won’t be as good of a king as is expected of him. Complicating this matter, he is extremely shy when it comes to his personal life and attempts to cover up this fact with a veneer of self-confidence. Unfortunately, this gives the impression of vanity and self-importance and does very little to endear him to anyone on a personal level.

Once a confidante puts up with him long enough to see past this exterior, they’re likely to finally see the true Amphoros - the shy, gentle, uncertain kelpie that is in paradoxical opposition to the face he puts on for the public. With those he truly trusts and is willing to let his guard down around (and the quantity of those, he might add, is minimal enough that he needs only to count his own hooves to know their number), he expresses his hidden feelings and opinions, willing to be just Amphoros instead of ‘the Prince’.

Background: Raised as the second son to a small kingdom that operated under the principle of ‘an heir and a spare’, Amphoros lived a relatively carefree life for a good deal of his foalhood, studying under his tutors and enjoying his favorite hobbies without having to worry about the weight of duty – that burden fell to his older sibling, who was the King’s favored son and his heir in all ways. Young Amphoros had little to worry about in his future save for what activities he would participate in and those he would avoid. That all changed nearly overnight, however - Amphoros’ older brother went on an exploratory mission out to the deeper areas of the sea and vanished. It was presumed that he stayed under water too long and drowned.

Unsurprisingly, the position and duties of the heir now fell to Amphoros. The young colt was unprepared for the magnitude of the responsibility that had encompassed him. Whereas before he was allowed to spend his days and nights in relative comfort, doing mostly as he pleased outside of his schooling, now he was required to undergo rigorous training in both statecraft and warcraft. Rather than relaxing and living a life relatively free of responsibility, he now had the entire kingdom resting upon his still young shoulders. And truth be told, he wasn’t very good at it at first. Constantly compared to his lost brother, his own skills seemed to him inadequate and unsuited for his future job, his temperament too soft and fragile to belong to a proper leader.

And so, he forced himself to change. Adopting an air of pretentious entitlement, he threw himself into his role as the crown prince with abandon, forgetting about and stifling all desires and most interests that he had before him. He would become the heir his brother had been, only better – and when that duty meant starting to visit and hint at courting the Princess of his neighboring kingdom, he went along quite willingly. He was not, however, expecting to become smitten with the lovely princess upon first sight. He had vague memories of her from his foalhood – an awkward, gangly thing who was entirely unimpressive to his young mind - but they were entirely inaccurate to the vision of loveliness that she was now. As endearing as she was lovely, it took very little time for Amphoros’ motivation to marry the Princess to grow from a mere obligation to true desire.

But the chains of duty had bound him long ago, and he had no way of knowing how to approach her without that weighing heavily on his mind. Duty had bound his tongue long ago, and when the Princess began visiting her Gypsy, it was duty that prevented Amphoros from questioning her about what she had been duty. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, and heavier still the heart of the prince who cannot win the love of his Princess.

Character Quirks:
• He tends to backtrack in conversation when it’s going farther than he’s comfortable with – basically, he starts contradicting his own words and ends up sabotaging himself.
• He refuses to admit that he’s wrong unless he’s cornered into it, and even then he’ll try to work things around so that he is declared at least somewhat in the right.
• When he gets nervous, he starts shooting darting glances around the room, as if searching for something to say or for an unseen attacker.

The Story
At its heart, the Song of the Sea Princess is an old, old tale, repeated many times throughout history: a princess, disenchanted with the life she has been born into, is whisked away by a handsome stranger who enthralls her with visions of the world outside her simple kingdom. But lo, all is not simple for the would be lovers, as there is a third party involved - the young Princess' betrothed, who will stop at nothing to break them apart. However, this is only the heart of the story - the details change from telling to telling, as all stories do. Curious now, are you? Come closer young foals and I will tell you the story of a wandering stallion, a princess of the sea and a prince in a castle all alone. Long ago there was a wandering gypsy who spied upon the breaking trees a beauty that he felt he could win over with his wit and charm. The pure of heart princess was unknowing of the stallion at the water's edge. The prince unaware of the love duty would bring to him awaited news of where "his" princess has gone. Now young ones listen to this tale is if it your own, that you are there with them.

*magical mystical transforming to the tale*

The princess pawed the ground nervously as she waited for the guards to change seeing her chance she slipped out of the castle and hurried through the town heading for the beach. She sighed happily once she had arrived and began looking for the shells she needed for the bracelet she was working on. She hummed softy as she moved along, gathering scallop and cowrie along with some coral, her faithful octopus friend to holding on to them as she searched. The princess continued to gather shell unaware that she was being watched by a handsome stallion with a star speckled coat. Looking at the sky she noticed the moon had risen a bit, she would have to hurry if she wished to slip in during the shift change, once she was in her room she sorted the shells before heading to bed.

Nyco had been roaming this forest for a few days now. His traveling partner a flighty mare was getting on his nerves. So at the moment he had ditched her dull presence and was looking for something else to do. When the trees started to thin he saw a glistening beauty by the water's edge. Grinning like a mad man, Nycomani had decided that this would be his new partner in crime. He watched the mare flit about looking for shells. This mare didn't seem like the daft minded females he has run into as of late and the challenge to win her over would be an exciting and telling tale. When she left back to the castle it was then that he realize who it was that he had spied by the water.

The princess looked around the beach the next day it was unlike her to sneak out twice in a row but she only needed a few more shells to complete the bracelet. Having found everything she needed she went to collect Inna having let him explore, the princess began to panic when she noticed that he wasn’t on the beach and began to pace and paw at the ground while calling for him.

Nyco had send the beautiful mare again this night. Why would a princess run from her castle? A fellow roaming heart maybe? The decorated stallion broke from his thoughts when he had seen the princess frantically looking for the little octopus she had with her. Feeling the gentlemanly sort and realizing this was a good way to work his way into her presence he galloped off to meet her and assist her in the search for the little friend. "What has such a fare lady so worried?" Granted he knew what it was but he wanted to warm up to the conversation.

The voice startled the princess, causing her to jump a bit; she was relieved to find that he wasn’t someone who worked at the castle. ”I left my friend here while I was searching for shells and I can’t see him anywhere! the princess continued to fidget and paw the ground as she talked, she was so worried she didn’t realize she hadn’t given much of a description of her friend.

"Oh no need to fret mi'lady. Your little friend can not have been moved far." With that he scoured the beach in hopes to find some sign of the little thing. Finding a small weird mark in the sand under a pile of debris he moved pieces of the debris with his nose. Nyco froze in shock, fear, surprise, etc. He wasn't exactly sure but when little suckers stuck to his face he froze. Something was grabbing onto face and whirling itself around holding tight as if it too was in fear. Stepping back not sure what to do the thing followed from under the debris. Nycomani stood there face to face with the little octopus.

Klytie, for that was the princess’s name, was delighted that the stallion had managed to find Inna so quickly”Oh! You’ve found him! Thank you!” Klytie moved closers to the stallion letting Inna climb onto her and settle around her neck. “Thank you so much for helping me! Oh! I haven’t introduce myself, I’m sorry my name’s Klytie.”

Still eyeing the small octopus oddly and a tad off Nyco took a moment to elegantly bow to the princes. "I am Nycomani, wanderer, bard, and gentlemen extraordinaire."

*mystic storytelling stuff*

Now little ones this was a chance meeting that would end up having great and wondrous effects. For day after day the princess would find trinkets waiting for her at the spot where she had met the mysterious stallion until she took one of the bracelets she made and headed out of the castle early hoping to beat him there and give him it in return for all the wonderful gifts he left her.

*more magical stuff*

Nycomani had been placing the beautiful baubles he had collected from the years of travel and was placing them on the beach. At first he was afraid the princess wouldn't get them but after the first disappeared he had the feeling it was her. Today he was bringing her a piece of bright color coral that he had hid away. Preparing to place the little trinket on a stone that he has designated as his gifting stone, he stopped. Something was weird today.

Klytie hurried though the town worried that she would miss him; after all she had no idea when he put the gifts there. While she could just leave it where he puts his and give it to him that way she wanted to thank him for the gift, which she felt was easier done in person. Arriving at the beach she was relieved to see him there, trotting over to where he was she called out to him.

Nycomani turned and gave her a charming smile before motioning towards the coral piece. "I can not stay long tonight sweet princess, but I did wish to bring you this. A treasured trinket from a land far from here where the sands are black and the trees are full of magnificent fruits." He was a tad forward and walked up to meet her, giving her mane a quick nudge. "I shall be back on the morrow my lady. If you wish to meet me again. Mayhap I can get to know you a little better."

Klytie smiled back fascinated by his story, she blushed as he nudged her. “It’s beautiful, I would love to meet you again, I came early today because I want you to have this.” She offered him the bracelet made of the shells she had been collecting. “It doesn’t have as much history as what you gave me; I only finished making it the other day.” She pawed the ground a bit hoping he would like it.

But the princess and the gypsy were not alone on this moonlit night – the Prince Amphoros, heir to the neighboring kingdom, had begun to wonder where his beloved had gone. The prince had been attempting to seek her out for company, as it was his duty to try and maintain a good relationship with the lovely mare – not that he would have minded in any case, since he did love her a great deal, regardless of his inability to tell her so. On this night, he had an idea of where to look for her, as he had begun to hear whispers that she had been seen frolicking in the moonlight surf, and with a stranger at that.

At first, he tried to dismiss these rumors and combed the palace for her, searching in vain for the mistress of his heart. When all of that failed and he still couldn’t find her, he left the palace to search for her, following the rumors he had been told. ’She dances in the moonlight where the sea meets the shore’, ’The cliffs at the edge of the kingdom are her playground’. These were only some of the whispers that Amporos had heard, and that he now followed. At last, with eyes tired from straining to see from the most remote of distances, he spotted a glimmer that he recognized as the sheen from his beloved’s tail.

Crying out in relief upon sighting her, the prince charged forward through the waves, only to stop short when he noticed that she wasn’t alone. ”Milady? Who is this… stranger?” He asked, turning up his nose at the strange stallion who could only be a lesser creature. ”Has he harmed you?” While he spoke, he fixed his hard blue gaze on the gypsy as though he were a piece of refuse beneath his hoof.

”Come, Princess. Your guards are worried.”

Klytie gasped in shock as the prince showed up out of nowhere. “Am Amphoros? Wh what are you doing here?” the princess stuttered, she panicked slightly the prince all ways seemed so intimating, and who know what he might say to her family. “Harmed? No he has not harmed me. Nycomani is a friend. I supposed you told them I was gone? We were just saying our goodbyes.”

Klytie was unaware of the glare the colorful stallion had given the prince and the curl of his lip. Nycomani didn't want do deal with ignorance and left from the scene, giving the princess a polite nuzzle at the back of her neck. Watching the prince from the corner of his eyes.

*magical stuff*

Now young ones do beware. This tale goes on to lead to a battle between the beloved gypsy and prince. The princesses heart is torn between the free life and that of duty. It is getting late my little folk so this story shall continue it's tale tomorrow. I have many adventures of these three that still have yet to be spoken after these many years.

Soquili Name: Evedne Sirensong
Temper: Naive

Personality: Evedna is a sweet, gentle soul. She does, however, have a short temper and when she gets angry - watch out!

Background: For Evedne, early life was easy. She was born to the King and Queen of the Sea. Ever since she was little her people loved and respected her as she would be the next ruler. However, it was noticeable to both her parents that she had a fiery temper: wherever they would try to make her to do something that she did want to do she would snap and yell at them. The King and Queen tried to do everything in their power to keep her calm and to conceal her difficult temper from the people. However, they also noticed that she was kind and had a good heart. They had great hopes for her in the future.

One day Evedne was playing with her nanny when her father introduced her to a playmate. At first, Evedne thought of throwing a fit, until she saw the little sandy brown haired foal behind her father. She thought of duty and how to be a good daughter. She smiled at the prince who seemed too scared and shy as he stood behind her father. She blinked offered to let him join her and then went back to her nanny to play. Days later her joined her and, for the first time, he spoke to her and she tried to make it easier for him. She smiled and then, finally, he joined her. The prince became her best friend, even though he was still a little shy, but at least now they could have fun together. Her parents loved watching them play and would whisper about things to come.

Adult: Evedne stands at the edge of the ocean and watches the waves; she sighs as she watches them and thinks about her life. The Prince is nice and sweet, should she really marry him, and did she have feelings for him. She didn’t know she was pushed towards him by her parents most of her life. It was hard to know what to feel around him. She liked him but thought that who she would marry should be her choice and hers alone. She looks at the Ocean and makes a decision; she was going to tell her parents that she was leaving this place for a year. She wanted to see the world and as the princess her parents had to let her go and explore. She still had her curiosity for magic and wanted to know if it existed or not. So when the prince found out what she planned to do he tried to stop her at first then he decided to go with her saying that he was there to protect her and it was his ‘duty’. So they left her parents lands and traveled the world learning new things. However Evedne found herself slightly falling for her protector, she was grateful to have him beside her, she was finding out that few had magic most could heal others, few could do anything else.. that sounds like a good plan

Character Quirks:Evadne acts spoiled, has a good heart and loves to sing.

Username: SylverStar

Soquili Name: Tariq Durriken
Temper: Mesmerizing

Personality: Tariq is a charming stallion and never lacks companionship when he wants it. He often finds himself the center of attention and likes to be adored. He likes to be free to do whatever he wants, whether it’s to spend time alone, with the mares, or taking risks.

He is very confident in himself which sometimes gets him in trouble. He loves a challenge and will never back down from one, either that he has made for himself or that another has given him. He enjoys taking risks and often views himself as coming out on top even if he loses. He is not a poor sport, but one that others often like dealing with.

He knows how to get others to like him and could be considered manipulative, though he doesn’t feel he is doing anything wrong. He takes pride in his looks and will spend a good amount of time primping though he wants others to think that his good looks are effortless. And he tends to portray a carefree attitude even though he is a perfectionist at heart.

He loves fortune telling and the way that it captivates others. He finds it entertaining, he doesn’t hold too much stock in if the fortunes he tells are true are not he just casts the shells and reads them as he sees them. What others get out of it is up to them. He does believe others will see what they want to see and that is sometimes enough for them to make some hard decisions. So he doesn’t consider himself a fraud but more someone to help direct others to the path they want.

He finds other fascinating but gets bored after he has figured someone out. Tariq prefers sea dwelling Soquili and his charming nature turns to something more mysterious when he deals with land Soquili. He prides himself on being Kelpi and having the ability to cross between the two areas, though he is very loyal to those of the Sea.

Background: Tariq travels with a herd of wandering Sea Gypsy Soquili which he grew up in. He often leaves the herd to wander on his own and then finds his way back to them eventually. He usually doesn’t travel far away from the herd, but far enough for others to think that he is a lone stallion. He was mostly raised by his mother.

His father left the herd when he was still a foal to swim off with some other mare. His father always seemed to have a way with the ladies and Tariq has his doubts that his dad stayed with any mare for too long. He looks up to his father and tries to emulate what he imagines his father to be like.

His mother is a perfectionist and strives for him to be the best at whatever he does. His mother is a fortune teller and he grew up learning the tricks of the trade and perfecting them. He learned how to cast shells, and how to read the stars, clouds and seaweed. Of course it all for entertainment purposes only.

In his teen years he found a passion for dancing as he felt it was a great way to stay fit and adored by the mares. His herd being fond of water has many dances that take place in the water, which are a unique sight to see.

As a foal Tariq was an awkward child he was younger than the other foals in the herd and was an only child. He had no playmates so he usually stayed home perfecting his fortune telling skills or trying to figure out how to better himself. As he grew older he kept his perfectionism and it paid off as he often made sure his looked his best. He soon became at ease with those around him and confident in himself. He looks at the world in an very optimistic way and always thinks he will come out on top.

Character Quirks: Secretly vain, flirts with everyone, overly optimistic, agrees to all dares/challenges, likes to check the sky often.

The Prince

Username: AmbitiousMoron

Soquili Name: Nereus Shorewhisper
Temper: Noble

Personality: A shy individual, Nereus is a humble and kind Prince. He wishes to help others and especially his beloved, Evedne. He is strong in body, and likes to test his strength - but not to the point of foolishness or recklessness. He adores his domain, the Shore, but admires his love's domain, the Sea. He likes to socialize and understand others, as he truly wishes to become a worthy heir for his father and mother, whom he adores. Nereus will become friends with all kinds of Soquili, as long as they do not harbor true evil in their hearts.

If only he would show some firmness and a bit more courage in the matters of the heart - character traits absolutely necessarily for a King.

Background: Nereus was born a Prince of the Shore, over which his father and mother have presided for decades. At a young age he was sent to the royal palace of the Sea, to be raised with the young Princess of the Sea - Evedne. He feel in love with the outgoing and stubborn Evedne on first sight, but his shyness prevented him from telling her the truth - they were engaged from their birth, and were destined to marry. As a child he could talk to her freely, for him, anyway, but as he grew and his feelings developed, he could barely say a word before running away.

He was very worried the Princess would not speak to him after her father told her the truth about his true purpose of living here, as being friends with her is very important to him, even if she will not return his feelings. And when he found out about the Gypsy, dark worries started brewing in his heart...

Character Quirks: A true gentleman, always ready to help, although he could do with some forcefulness

The Story
Evedne watches the ocean, she had told the prince that she needed sometime to herself tonight. As she observes the moon rise and the waves crash onto the beach she takes in these last couple of weeks. She thinks about the prince and how she feels about him. She noticed that over the many weeks her feelings were changing for him. She still saw him as the shy foal from her childhood, but now, with all the traveling they had done, and with the memories they shared, she started to grow other feelings for him. Still, she was scared of these new feelings and was unsure of herself. So she looks to the ocean, searching for answers, as she has for weeks now. She sighs and raises her face to the moon. Closing her eyes she starts to sing a song she had never heard before, it was new and wondrous and scared her a little. Soon she stopped and looked around to see if anyone had heard her. She looks upwind from where she was, then downwind where the ocean and other parts of the beach are and then she starts to sing again.

Tariq strolls out of the water, droplets clinging to his body and fins and slowly driping off of him. He shakes a piece seaweed from off of his tail and checks himself to make sure everything else about his appearance is in order. His wet hair holds his braid nicely. He flings his head sash to the other side. He now feels he is in proper order and turns his head towards the sky. The moon is bright but a nearby star seems to try and match its brightness. It is his favorite star - the other stars don’t stick out to him as much. He looks to see the patterns again in the sky. The normal summer patterns are shining like they should. He following the lines of the crab pattern when he sees his star seem to twinkle even brighter than the moon. His eye shifts to watch its twinkling dance. Softly at first he hears sweet music as if his star really is dancing. The song grows louder and he realizes there must be another Soquili close by, singing the song. He feels a longing in himself when he hears her song. He has heard this voice before the past few nights, but tonight there is something different about it, and the holder of the song seems to be close. He lets his feet carry him down the beach to where the music is coming from. As he gets close enough to make out the songstress with her pink pearl skin he knows he must make her fall in love with him. She seems to be longing for something and he decides to himself that he will end that longing. A new challenge awaits him.

Nereus can not fall asleep this night. His feelings for the princess are growing each passing day, with each new experience adding to his love's growth. He stands far from the princess, not wanting to spook her or, even worse, intrude on her own thoughts. She has a lot on her mind right now, he knew. She needed some time alone, as did he. The prince stands upon the shore, his domain, for a while, until something inside of him changes and he wades out into the sea, waves lapping at his belly. He searches for something in the blackened waters, but sees only the white foam. And then he hears the song. The beautiful, heart rendering song his princess sings. He listens to it, stricken in place, eyes closed, unable to tear away.

When the song suddenly stops, Nereus snaps out of his daze and starts walking, then trotting, then, finally, galloping away from the source of the song, away from his princess, away from his feelings, before it's too late and he can't hold his love back anymore, and confess to the already confused mare.

Coward. Coward. Coward! he screams at himself, but he doesn't slow his pace until the song is out of his range of hearing. He would confess tomorrow. And then may the princess decide her own fate.

Evedne and Nereus grew up together and became best friends as foals. At the time, it had not been obvious to Evedne and Nereus that their parents were planning on the two being married. As they grew up, they slowly seemed to catch on. For Nereus this seemed to confirm the love in his heart he had for Evedne and he was happy at the thought of being by her side forever. Time only made his love more deep and consuming and he vowed to himself to always protect her. Evedne, on the other hand, felt constricted by the pressure of her parents and of being the princess. She wanted who she was going to love and marry be her choice. Her feelings for Nereus became confused and it was hard for her to know what to feel around him. She liked him ,but wasn't sure whether it friendship or love.

So she decided one night to tell her parents that she was going to leave the kingdom for a year. Nereus did not want her to leave him. He tried to get her to stay in the kingdom, at first, but he soon saw that this was something she had to do. He decided to go with her, to protect and be with his love. Evedne on her journey tried to sort her feelings out for the prince. She would often go down to the beach alone at night to watch the ocean and think. On these nights she would sing and one could hear her heart and soul in these songs. Nereus knew she needed this alone time, but he wanted to be by her side every moment. He would often watch her from a distance, and listen to the sweet songs his love sang.

It was on one of these nights that a gypsy entered their lives and would change how the two felt towards one another. Tariq had listened to the princesses songs, and had decided to make the princess his conquest. Evedne, not used to the charms and advances of other stallions, was entranced by the gypsy’s exotic nature. Her nights alone soon became nights spent with Tariq, and it was not long until she found herself head over hooves in love with him, or so she thought. Tariq weaved a beautiful story for Evende to fall in love with. He told Evende that their fate was written in the stars, and that they were meant to spend their lives together. He then joined the pair in their travels.

Evende seemed to forget about the feelings of love she had for Nereus as she was enraptured with Tariq, but Nereus didn’t forget. He was just beginning to think that she could sort out her feelings and he could confess his love, when the Gypsy showed up. He could tell that Tariq’s love for Evende wasn’t real, and it hurt him to see her so in love with a fraud. The gypsy did not deserve her, screamed the prince's very being. Nereus tried to tell Evende that Tariq did not love her, but she would not believe him.

So Nereus looked for some other way to convince the princess. After awhile, he figured out that Tariq would not back down from a challenge. He decided to challenge Tariq, and, if he won, he could be with Evende, but if he lost he would have to tell her that he was not really in love with her and leave the pair. Tariq accepted the challenge but found himself out matched by Nereus, so he told Evende that he did not love her and never did. Evende grew angry, but Tariq told her that if she truly wanted someone who loved her truly she didn’t have to look further than Nereus, and with that he left the two to figure out what magic love had left in their hearts.

This was so hard to judge, and I must say being on super-strong pain meds hasn't helped (so I am sorry if my ramblings have upset anyone).

Anyways.... finally the judges and I have reached a decision!

Congrats Thalea, XBlind-DarknessX and vollyballrocks91

We found your tale to be really interesting, with well estabilished characters that were well written. The story flowed like that of a fairy tale, and we all agreed that we were hooked on finding out what happened next before being left with a single question "Can we RP with you now...!?"

The tone of the story changed as you read it, and you found yourself engaged with each character and happening. I really want to find out what happens next.... will Nikolai get to keep the princess he has secretly treasured all this time or will the exotic Emilian win her? Has he learnt of his true feelings too late? Only Molokai can decide!

We will all be watching to see what happens next!

The Princess needs to go to Mindsend's certing thread.
For the Prince and Gypsy by Thalion I think you need to go Here to get them certed.

------------------------

Thank you for entering everyone. I hope you had lots of fun, from the enteries I would say you did! There were so many different directions and ideas that it was really rather surprising!
It has been fun!

Sure, can you wait until tomorrow though. I am not really thinking straight right now, but I will spend some time tomorrow.

In all honesty it wasn't that anyone's entry was 'bad' just more a case of the entry that won had that little something extra about it that just drew you to it a little more. smile
