When Itzamna had started on her journey, she had never thought that the world would be quite so... big! No matter how far she traveled, there always seemed to be a new mountain to crest, a new forest to traverse, and above all - new friends to meet! The hippogryph mare loved seeing all of these new things, and not once did she grow homesick - no, really, she didn't! There was way too much to see, way too much to do, and so many strange Soquili that she had never seen before to learn about!
She hummed under her breath as she trotted along, feeling more like walking for now than taking flight - you could see more from the air, but you met more people by walking! Besides, she'd already flown a bit today, and she needed to save her strength. Maybe she would meet someone new soon, or something interesting to see, and she could stop for a while to rest. a few days. She'd never stop while alone or in a boring place, though. That just wasn't fun.
"Hm, hm, hm, hm, the sun goes marching through the sky,"she sang softly to herself, a little nonsense song that she made up right in that moment. It was always good to have something to fill the silence, even if that something was her own, slightly off-key voice. "From low to high and back again!" It didn't rhyme, but Itzy didn't really care - she was just entertaining herself, after all. There was no-one around to chide her for it!
Or at least, she didn't think so.

The stallion had crept down from the mountainside of his home, having taken a temporary leave after everything that had happened that previous winter. He had yet to find Azelle, had yet to find the proper words in which ti get her to forgive him for his foolishness. He had assumed much about their relationship, he had decided, and instead of speaking directly to her, they had come out as accusations during their fight.
That had, unfortunately, been a direct cause for her leaving him. But he missed her, desperately so, and did hope that maybe he could salvage something of their past. He loved her, damnit, and he missed her. But pride kept him back, demanded that she give in and return. He had hoped she might come back, might taunt him, might tease him, might do something that would elicit a response from him.
But she had remained ever scarce.
The days drew on, and Chetan continued his work, as normal. As if Azelle's disappearance was normal, as if . . . nothing had changed. But it had. He lived half-alive, drowning himself in his studies to try to accept that she might never return, deliberating whether or not it was too late to apologize, to tell her of his undying adoration, to beg forgiveness for his foolish fear. But fear also kept him from seeking her out. It was just as likely she had found someone else, another less awkward and stoic stallion, someone . . . well deserving of her affections. And he didn't think he could handle that.
So it was, the male had moved away from the mountainous terrain and had taken up his studies further south; it was a temporary reprieve from the shadow of her memory at home. Maybe elsewhere he would find inspiration on what to do. Fortunately, his heavy thoughts were lifted as the sound of a voice tickled his ears. Someone was . . .singing. . . . not terribly well either. Ever the scientist, the stallion followed the sound of the voice, making sure he stepped loud enough on nearby foliage for the stranger to hear. He didn't want to spook or startle anyone, after all.

Itzamna had finished with her song and was just about to start it over again when her attention was caught by the sound of someone approaching through the underbrush. Whoever it was was being rather loud, so she wasn't too worried that they were dangerous - surely someone dangerous would try to be sneakier! It was much more likely that they were just a curious stranger, perhaps wanting someone to talk to! Or, no wait that was what she would do, and not everybody was like her.... Hm... What should she do?
Itzamna hesitated for only a moment before trotting in the direction of the steps she had heard. "Hello? Hello, who's there? Do you want some company?" She called out, ruffling her wings once before allowing them to lay flat again. She was ready to take off if it became necessary, but she really hoped it wouldn't. A new friend was always so much better than a new scary stranger! And she hoped this stranger would be a friend instead of someone scary.
"You can come out, you know, I don't bite or anything!"
