Sayoko had decided to go to sleep earlier then usual, and had planned on sleeping through the night but found herself wide awake staring up at the night stars. Akira was curled up next to her, a big mass of black and purple striped fur. It was comforting on cold nights though because it helped to stay warm, however, tonight it was a little bit on the claustrophobic side. The pink and purple mare edged away from the ball of fur and slowly got up, she was sure she would pay hell for sneaking away from her familiar when Akira woke but for now she wanted to be by herself for at least a few hours. She wandered away from her home and wandered into the open night hour and the open field of grass and flowers. The lake was a nice sight to see as she got closer to it, it was soothing to her, it made no sound as the chirping of crickets became louder. She settled down next to the water and looked around, fire flies were flitting around and making the night air light up, she smiled to herself. It was the most amazing time to really enjoy oneself, the real beauty of nature was at night when the world lit up.

It was still fairly early in the night and Attacus was out on another nightly adventure. He often made a habit of wandering off by himself at night. His mother often did not notice at first and did not tend to worry until the sun began to rise again. He had wandered a bit away from his family this time and found himself upon a field filled with little flying glowing orbs. He had never seen such a sight before. He ran towards them with great delight and found that they would move out of his way for a second but as soon as he stopped they would come towards him and some even landed on him. The little balls almost blended in with the glow dust on his wings. He ran around the field for awhile chasing the little flying orbs.
Soon after he stopped chasing them he realized they were a type of insect. He than started talking to them."Hello, little insects...My sister would love to see you guys...Hey, I'm kind of like an insect too...watch this" and with that he deployed his newly learned skill of turning small like a moth. He flitted around for about a minute and than lost concentration and quickly turned back to his normal size falling on his hind quarters....laughing as he did so. "See I'm one of you"

Yoko had quickly caught sight of the new glowing being entering the open space and scaring away the fire flies but they quickly settled back down. She was mesmerized by the new foal, his wings seemed to glow different than that of the little bugs but it was beautiful none the less. She got to her feet, her long black hair trailing behind her as she got closer to him but then blinked when he seemed to vanish before her eyes. As she scanned the area trying to figure out just where the little one could have gone or if he was even there to begin with he appeared back into the open field. She stood with her mouth open in awe and curiosity as to just what this foal was exactly. Her hooves walked slower, she was a little more cautious now because she had no idea if he could hurt or what he was capable of doing really, once she was a safe distance from him but close enough to get a better look, she realized that she was right to get closer.
The foal had a unique colored coat, it was a unique shade of brown it seemed and his wings seemed to glow a bright purple with a tint of gold. The wings were stunning with the dark making them shine even brighter. His hair almost seemed to be made of leaves but she figured it was just the way his hair was styled, his hair couldn't really be made of leaves right? It was just a pretty shade of blue and his tail was so bright itself seemed to glow but she knew better. She looked closer at his head and he seemed to have antennae coming out of his head like a bug, perhaps he was mixed with a bug after all? Could that really be possible? Her mind was turning over so many questions she didn't realize that she was walking closer to him trying to get a closer look.

Attacus gets himself up on all fours and looks around. It is a beautiful night. He is in a meadow which he has never seen before, usually sticking to the forest and not out in the open. As he looks up he can see thousands of little twinkling stars, another sight he is not use to. He finds himself mesmerized by their twinkling, but than something catches his eye. A purple mare with long black hair and as she gets closer he can start to make out weird pattern on her. After taking it in for a minute, he starts to get a little excited. "She's and adult and probably knows about these bugs and the twinkles in the sky", he thinks to himself. With that he start making his little flutter bounce over to her.
"Hello, I'm Attacus" He says in his most cheerful voice.

Alarms began to ring throughout her mind as she realized that she had gotten closer to the strange foal than she had intended and now he was right up in her space. She blinked to clear her mind, she realized that the strange being had spoken to her, she shook her head to try and better clear the jumble of words that had assaulted her. "H..Hello I am Sayoko." She stammered a little trying to introduce herself, she was a little afraid of the unique creature before her. It appeared to be like her own race but there was some other features that made up the stallion to be that had her a little on edge. She found herself backing up a little to create a little more space between them, normally she was more friendly then this, however she just couldn't bring herself to trust this stranger just yet even if he was just a foal.
"Your...wings are stunning." Sayoko figured that maybe if she complimented the young foal, it would make her feel better about her behavior and how she was treating the little foal. Once the words were out of her mouth, they didn't make her feel any better, she only felt worse. The frown that was on her face only deepened, her mind went into over drive, she tried to ease her nerves as she tried to form a solution to warm up to the strange foal. There had to be a way right? "I hope you forgive me for being so rude but I have never met anything like you before." She decided that perhaps the truth was the best way to go, she felt horrible about the way she was behaving around the little foal, he had done nothing wrong to her, he didn't deserve the way he was being treated by her.

Attacus maintained his cheerful disposition but seemed to notice an Awkwardness in this mare. He had never known any adults who seemed like this and wondered if she was just shy. Whatever it was he was determined to be friends with her. The more friends he had the better. No matter if they seemed a little strange at first.
At the compliment to his wings he fluttered them a bit. "Thank you, Sayoko...my mom has big pretty wings like mine too. You didn't seem rude to me, you just seem shy. It's ok to be shy, but I wish you wouldn't frown, that makes you look sad and it is a happy night." With that he did a little flutter bounce.
It took him a minute but than he realized that she had called him a thing. "What does she think I am," He said to himself. He wasn't use to others reactions to him. He had only ever met one other flutter and she had not questioned him on looks. He didn't really think of himself as strange looking.
He cocked his head to the side and asked her curiously. "What do you think I am?" He now was wondering what others thought of him.

She began to feel a little ignorant or rather foolish for making it known how she thought of the other being before her. "To be quite honest young one, I am not sure as to what you are, I know that you must be something of what I am, but your wings and mane dictate otherwise." She spoke what was fumbling about inside her mind, but she lamed it down as to not hurt his feelings. Sayoko knew what it was like to be unique, she never really fit into any one crowd herself, she didn't have the right to judge this stallion but she found herself doing so anyways. Her hooves brought her even closer to him than before and she let her eyes roam over him even more carefully than before. She liked the way his wings seemed to glow and sparkle, his antennae seemed to sparkle and glow all the same. This young mare was captivated by this foal and she wanted to learn more about him and his family.
"Forgive me once more for staring but you are just so mesmerizing, the way your wings sparkle and glow, they are stunning." She smiled at him, the smile was one of warmth and kindness. The attitude she had displayed before him earlier, she wanted it to be forgotten, she wanted to let the foal know that she could be considered a friend and not an enemy. "Would you mind telling me about you and your family?" She stepped away from him to make him feel more at ease and comfortable.

Attacus became curious at this mares words. Not having met many others he didn't know what was normal. "My wings and mane are different than many others? I never realized," he said with a slight distance in his voice.
"My family seems normal I guess. My mom and dad look different from each other. I got my wings from my mother and my sister has some too, but they are a lot smaller, my dad has no wings." Attacus started launching into excited speech as he told her about his family. "My sister got my dads ears though, they are really long, but I got moms. She also has long eyebrows like dad. I got my his mane and my moms tail. My mane is made of leaves like my dad's it's pretty cool. It's like I'm part tree. I also got my mom's antenna...like a moths...and her horn...except my seems a bit like it's made of wood to me and my mom's is shiny and gold. My dad also has two horns that have many points. And My mom sparkles like me, but with blue...I think I prefer my gold but don't tell her that."
Attacus realized he had been rattling off and didn't want to make the mare feel left out. "What about you and your family? Are they normal?" He wondered what the differences were.

The smile that crossed her face couldn't be helped as she listened to him go on and on with excitement about his family. "I would love to meet your family one day Attacus." Sayoko only spoke truth, but she was a little hesitant because she wondered if she would gawk at them as well. "I promise that your secret is safe with me though." She giggle at the little foal and then winked at him. The fire flies that had been dancing around them seemed to vanish little by little. She paid them no mind as she thought about how she could phrase her family. "My mother and father are very kind, soft spoken and generous maybe?" She spoke about them being generous as a question because she only knew that they would give life and limb for their children and themselves, but she wondered about others. "I get my pinkness from my mother, my strange markings I believe from my fathers side, the black and purple, my green eyes and my long black mane I also get from my father." She spoke proudly about what made her who she is and she enjoys every minute being alive. "But judging from my vine like markings, I think my dad is the strange one." She giggled about the fact that her dad was the strange one because her eyes did seem to be rather unique.

Attacus listened intently to what Sayoko said and was happy that she seemed interested in him too. "My family is pretty fun, they like adventure...mom and dad are always talking about where they have been or where they should go. They like meeting everyone," he said this to let her know she would be welcomed.
"You seem very kind like your family and I like your long black hair. I've never seen hair that touches the ground before. Does it ever get caught in your hoofs?" He said this has he pictured himself tripping over his hair if it was ever that long.
Attacus noticed the little bugs disappearing and started to worry. "Oh no they're going away...come back." He turned his head back to Sayoko after frantically watching the little bugs. "Do you know what they are and where they are going?" He looked at her hopefully.

"Adventure is the best thing in the world I think, I love to be free and just roam where I please." She began to daydream about her past adventures, specifically the ones on the mountains. Her head became foggy and bogged down with memories of the past. Sayoko found that she was being rude and snapped back to the present. "Sometimes but I am careful with how I step and I try not to run if I have to, I have my companion flip it onto my back for me." She grinned with a smile of affection as she thought about her little bear. Her heart ached when the sadness crept into his voice as he pleaded for the bugs to return. "They will be return when it becomes dark again, it will be light soon I'm guessing." She was going by her best guess because she noticed that their light didn't show very well in the day light. "I'm not sure where they go though, maybe we can take that adventure together when you are older." She smiled as she suggested the adventure, she looked forward to the day of seeing the foal grown into a strong and tall stallion. She wondered if he would be even more mesmerizing and if she would gawk at him more.
Sayoko didn't want to waste anymore time though and walked slowly towards the lightning bugs. She began to hum a little tune and almost dance with her slow steps between the flowers and the bugs. She liked to merge with them before they vanished completely and joined their glowing group, it made her feel a little more beautiful and special. Her eyes closed and she smiled more so to herself than to her little foal companion that accompanied her this evening.

Attacus seemed to grow more hopeful listening to her, feeling that he would see the bugs again and hearing that she would like to go on an adventure with him. He wondered what adventures she had been on and all the things she had seen. It seemed everyone had stories of adventure to tell. He hoped one day he would have his own.
At the mention of a companion he cocked his head curiously wondering who she was talking about.
Attacus watched her follow the little bugs seeming to be lost in her own world. He followed her and tried to imitate her walk and trying to hum to himself to, but often getting distracted by watching the bugs or her. He enjoyed the experience finding it fun and calming at the same time.

Sayoko opened her eyes once she felt the air become just a little warmer, she knew that once she opened her eyes, there would be even less of the little bugs. "I like to dance with them, it was easier when I was little, not that I would let anyone watch me." She grinned at Attacus, she was happy to have made a new friend even if he was a little foal. "Would you like me to walk you back to your parents, it would give them a piece of mind even to know you are safe perhaps?" She knew that if he was her child, she would be worried sick perhaps, even more so she wouldn't have let him out of her sight.

Attacus was a little unsure about the offer. He wanted to dart away as fast as he could, but he didn't want to be rude and just run away from his new friend. He tossed the decision over in his head as quick as he could. He wasn't even sure his mother would notice he was missing yet, but his father would probably soon be asking about him. He decided a little longer wouldn't hurt and it would give him more time to talk with the Sayoko. Plus he didn't like to say no, especially not to those he liked.
"Oh I think that would be good, though I'm not sure they are all that worried about me," He said to her. At that he started heading back towards his home, nodding for her to follow him.
With Sayoko at his side and his mind more at ease he switched gears. "I'm glad you let me watch you, I like dancing with them too. I will dance with them when I grow up like you."
He stared into the horizon watching the sky turn from blue to purple and now slowly hints of pink were showing...the twinkling in the sky seemed to be disappearing along with the twinkling bugs.

Sayoko tilted her head at him, she wondered what was running through his little head. She smiled at him when he finally spoke though, she liked to travel and couldn't wait to see just where it was they called home and if there were more of his kind there. "Why would they not be worried about you?" She frowned however because she began to wonder just what kind of parents he did indeed have to call his own. Her hooves moved almost on their own because her mind was else where, she couldn't imagine herself without non caring parents. "Maybe we will indeed dance with them together one day." She smiled at him as her heart warmed at the thought of having a dancing partner with the fire flies.
