Illarion was enjoying the warm spring day. It was spring finally! It was time to go on an adventure! He'd been talking about it for ages. And now the time was nigh. Ithili had readily agreed, and Temeko had consented, probably out of fear of being left behind. But she was going, that was something.

Often, he had worried about her. She was scared, always needing to be rescued or at least that's the way she saw it. Maybe he shouldn't have told her those stories about dragons...and skinwalkers. But they were just legends, not to mean it didn't happen but it wasn't as typical these days.

Ithili had readily agreed, probably with thoughts of riches and wealth. Of types of splendour or decadence...Illarion was a bit disturbed by his brothers more selfish desires, but he was not evil. That mattered more, that and the fact that he knew Ithili loved them. His selfishness wouldn't extend that far.

As for himself, Illarion was ready. He'd always wanted to rescue a princess or be a Queen's favoured knight. He'd dreamed of it for as long as he could remember, and today was the day to start the journey!

Temeko stood there, stepping in place as her brothers got ready. She wasn't thrilled with the idea of going on an adventure, but she sure as hell wasn't staying home alone. As she watched them gather the few things they needed, she looked up at the sun, basking in it for a moment, before letting out a heavy sigh.

"It's....It's really much to hot outside...bad for the skin...perhaps we should stay home.. yes home...I think...we would all be much better off here." she chimed in, her voice rather soft and low.

She was going to try, she knew it probably wouldn't work. One of them would pick on her or sit there and claim they will make sure she wont get hurt. But what about them. Who was going to protect them. What if a skinwalker ate them while she slept!? Who would protect her then? Her mind raced with all the negative possibilities she could come up with.

Quickly laying down in the grass for the moment, her stomach queasy from the thoughts.

Ithili danced around, excited to have it warm enough to go out and do something. It felt so good to have the sun shining and the grass underneath his hoofs. The smell of the flowers and fruits blooming made it all the more pleasant. As was typical with Ithili, he was far more energetic the warmer it got. It was a relief that Illarion thought of something first. That meant that Ithili wouldn't be wasting good time trying to think of something to do. His brother was a genius. He was surprised Temeko was up for the adventure. She tended to lean towards the sides of being afraid or paranoid. He loved her though and knew she was just making sure everyone was safe.

He thought about what they may find on the trip. What if they came across some hidden treasure trove or a secret grotto? Would there be new fruits and treats to eat? What about all the different soquili they would meet? Were there going to be shines as well?.....He started to day dream about the magnificent trip they were about to have. To him the trip would be legendary. One that could be sung about for ages.

His day dreams were interrupted when he spotted Temeko lay down on the ground. Worried, he tried to get Illarion's attention to alert him. He slowly went over to her. "Are you doing alright? Getting worried about the trip?" She wouldn't have to though, Illarion and himself could protect them. Temeko has probably heard that plenty of times though, never hurt to remind her again. "We'll protect you, besides Illarion likes to tell tall tales."

Ithili's beckoning caught his attention. Starting out of his reverie, he noticed poor Temoko lying on the ground. She looked rather pale, "Yes," he agreed. "They were just over embellishments. I mean...there aren't that many dragons around. Skinwalkers are a different story....But you know you don't really have to go though right? You could stay here. We'd understand. You'd only be alone for a little while until mom and dad came back."

He had been really surprised that Temoko had agreed at all. She was terrified of everything, which was also the reason he wanted her to go. How could he protect her if she stayed behind? That's what his job was, to protect her. Ithili could take pretty good care of himself, but she was delicate--scared. She needed special taking care of like a delicate flower. Plenty of tender care to flourish.

At least she was better than when she had been younger, or maybe he just didn't notice how scared she had been until now.

As her brothers stood over her, making sure she was ok, she just gave a small nod. She had just made herself a little nauseous and would be fine once she calmed herself down. "I'm fine..." she looked up with a small smile. "I just...my mind wandered again, really I'm fine and no...I...I don't want to be here by myself. I just...." she paused looking up at Illarion in horror as he talked about how there were just a few dragons and how the skin walkers were a different story.

"Oh...oh..." she whimpered as she stood, half stepping behind Ithili. What do you mean...A different story? You mean they are real!?" Her stomach churned again. "When..when do we leave? The sooner we leave the quicker we're home...safe...right? Yes..." she pushed her head against Ithili's back, her eyes looking up at Illarion. Sticking her tongue out a little with an uneasy laugh.

Ithili looked quizzically to Illarion when he mentioned staying here until their parents were back. Wouldn't that cause Temeko more anxieties by being left alone. It hit him then that it was probably a way to have her see that. He looked back to his sister, who was kind of hiding behind him. The blue stallion felt like the chosen protector for the moment, an ego boost. Ithili laughed when Temeko stuck her tongue out. Illarion did deserve it. The more ignorant Temeko was the better, that way she wouldn't be so afraid. She had two of them as well as their parents to watch over her. Well at least she should have waited until their trip was over before he alerted their sister of skinwalkers existence. Thankfully he didn't tell her about the kalona. They tended to be an issue as well, no where near as bad, but still not fun to run into. There were a lot more kalona around than skinwalkers. He was happy that she decided to come with though. He felt uneasy if they were to leave her here. Not uneasy enough to have him not go, but still a little uneasy.

"So where are we headed? I don't know if you had any plans Illarion when you thought of this adventure?" There weren't many places Ithili has been so it would all be new to him. He preferred being where it was comfortable and nice. "We can head past the creek and see what's beyond it. That is if either of you haven't been past there before?"

Illarion stuck his tongue back out at Temeko. It had worked, she had seen it was safer to go than stay. Though her chosing to cling to Ithili rather himself hurt a little. But she was safer with them. He couldn't have left her alone and defenseless, but he wouldn't tell her that. Not ever, because they'd never be able to go anywhere again.

Although, maybe he shouldn't have been quite so honest about what was out there beyond the borders of their home, it was too late to take back now.

"No, not far beyond the creek. Just the other side." He avoided Temeko's question about the skinwalkers, hoping against hope she wouldn't notice. "Maybe the mountains? A desert? It would be an awfully grand adventure, don't you think? Though there wouldn't be much water in the desert," he mused. "We'd have to be careful not to dry out too much. We'd get chapped and stuff...."

Temeko's nerves were shot. She couldn't handle much more of this. While her brothers had adventured at least to the creek, she had only gone as far as the creek, taken a quick cool dip and ran home as fast as she could. The whole idea of places to go disturbed her. "Dry out!? Chapped? I'm to pretty to be dried!" she exclaimed as she started to trot in place, anxious about what was going on. They were sitting around talking way to much for this to be good. She couldn't tell if they wanted her to go or not, but now was time to take charge. Turning she headed off without them towards the creek.

Which to say wasn't to far from their house, but needless, she started on her own and once she got to the creek, she closed her eyes and gently stepped across, the cool water tingling as she swished her tail content for the moment. Water made her smile and calmed her enough that she didn't realize she stepped all the way across and to the other side. Looking back at her brothers she beamed for the moment before reality sank in. Her face turned sour as tears welled up in her eyes, quickly trying to cross back across and hide in their home.

"Sounds good." He watched at Temeko wandered past the two of them and headed off to the creek. He jaw dropped slightly in surprise at the fact that she was actually going before one of them had checked it out. Laughing he caught up with her and kept up with her pace. "Someone suddenly became brave." He took back his taunting tone after she started to tear up and attempt to cross back across the river. Sighing he tried to block off her path. "Come on, it's okay. We're here." Ithili thought of attempting to nudge her back across the creek, but that might not be taken so kindly. "You were just across and nothing happened. If you look around you also see that the only ones here are us three. Nothing out there to hurt you or Illarion and I."

He wondered how far it was to the desert. Should they drink from the creek here or will there be another source of water before they hit the sands? Stories of flying carpets and buried treasure came to mind. If he wanted to be able to search around for fun stuff, it would be best to drink whenever he gets the chance. "We should probably drink here so that we don't dry out." Temeko was right about drying out. He himself was way to pretty to dry out.

Illarion caught up with both of them, and was quite unsurprised when Temeko attempted to bolt back. "Meko, you can't stay by yourself, and we're going. You've got to come with us." He hoped she'd really believe that, he couldn't leave her behind.

"We should. Make sure to get all your skin wet, and drink as much as you can before we go. We don't know what we're going to run into."

Stepping a few feet away, he got down and rolled in the water. Splashing with his tail and covering himself with water. If felt good to soak up the water. Really good. Except that the water was so tiny, he actually got...quite muddy. Standing up, he shook some of it off, mud flying in all directions as he leaned down to take several long draughts from the stream.

"Are you ready?" He asked them both. "You can do it Meko. We know you can. We'll have fun." He smiled reassuringly.

Ithili had cut her off. How dare he, though it was in her best interest. She swallowed a large gulp as she back stepped. Her brothers were right. She nodded a little, she had to give it a try. After all she did make it across the creek and nothing happened. She let out a small sigh if defeat before looking up in horror. She hadn't watched her brother get down in the low creek, he has blanked out for the moment just soaking in the words she heard from the two of them. However, he had grown quite aware of the issue at hand when she looked down at her pale coat and noticed Illarion had unconsciously splattered her with mud. Snorting she knelt down to take a deep drink.

Looking up with a small smile, she swished her tail fanning a little bit of water up over her body waiting for the perfect moment. "Your right brothers, I should be ok, I made it this far..." she paused standing quickly to fling a tail full of mud at Illarion, nipping at Ithili as she trotted out of the water and backed herself away, sticking her tongue out a little.

Ithili backed away from his sister's attempt to n** at him. All he was doing was trying to convince her to come along. No need to n** at him. He stuck his tongue out at her in return. Ha. Looking at the creek he took a long drink. In the reflection he noticed there were mud splatters on his coat. His head darted around to look at his side, mud clumps were falling off. "Awe look what you did Illarion." Well now that he was slightly covered. There was no point in not covering everything. The colorful stallion jumped down and rolled around in the shallow water.

He came up and looked at himself through the now cloudy water. He looked absolutely disgusting but the mud cooled his coat, so that was a plus. What had him laughing was the idea that flowers and other tree life would stick to the mud if he ran against it. "Alright. I'm ready. To the desert than?" He clipped through the creek to get to the other side and meet up with his siblings. Again Temeko was already ahead of the brothers, would she turn around again. Maybe it was a good idea that they were behind, just in case she tried to back down from the adventure again. He doubted that she would do it again though. She seemed to be happy, well kind of, about their future trip.

Illarion caught the mud on the side of his face while laughing, "Not like you can tell with the rest of this goop." He trotted out, amazed that Ithili had actually gotten down and dirty in the mood. It wasn't something he thought he'd really do or enjoy for that matter. But Ithili had been known for his surprises...

Illarion walked a bit behind Temeko, keeping stride with Ithili. "It should only be a day or so that way, I think." He didn't admit that he wasn't exactly sure if there was even a desert there. "When we get to the desert, we'll travel at night, and rest in whatever shade or outcroppings we can during the day." He nodded his head, that was what it said to do in the stories at least. If he had any conscious idea that there was clear and present danger to their adventure, it didn't show.

"Shade?" she chirped as she turned, trying to back trot looking at her brothers as well as continuing forward. "Is there shade in the desert?" she asked shooting them a slightly quizzical look. " I thought your stories made it always sound like deserts were hot, dry, barren and sandy?". Her tail swished from side to side as she continued, trying to ignore anything around her.

"If there is no shade though...are we sure we want to go there? What if we dry out? Or get lost because everything looks the same? What kind of creatures are there in a desert?!" She didn't stop asking questions, she was trying to keep her mind elsewhere and at the same time be as informed as she could.
