(( follows after this rp ))

Lysanna eyes darted around the common area, aptly called a living room on Earth, as she slowly made progress in putting a dent in the meal that the Commodore had secured and prepared for her upon her arrival at the rather large dwelling. Apparently most of the first Vanguard members called this place home, with only a few exceptions. There were plenty of distractions to keep her attention diverted and Lysanna's fingers itched to pick up everything and figure out what purpose it held. But instead of giving into what she wanted to do the cadet instead made quick work of finishing off the meal that had been offered to her before sitting back and letting the softness of the love seat cushion her frame as she swept a few of her violet bangs to sit behind her ear before letting her gaze linger on the Commodore.

She was prepared to get straight to work but there had been something, back on the hilltop, that spoke of things that she needed to know first if she were to be as helpful as she could be.in sorting out what needed to be done.

But discussions needed to be had she supposed and she pushed aside the empty packaging of the meal that reminded her so much of home before giving her undue attention to the Commodore, "Sir, back on the hill you mentioned that you'd hoped I'm prepared to work. I am more than ready but I feel as though I'm going to need to know more about what to expect. Will my arrival affect anyone here?"

Lysanna should not be worrying about something that seemed like an insignificant notion but she wanted to know where her arrival might stand with others. "Also, when you go back for the supplies on the shuttle I should be able to assist in retrieving things, that is if you want the extra set of hands."

Here Lysanna fell silent. She'd said what was on her mind so far and now it was time for the Commodore to maybe catch her up to speed about how she could be of most use.

“I appreciate the offer, but we’ll see if you’d rather have some time to yourself to rest. I don’t mind. I spend a lot of time indoors working on my projects so I appreciate the fresh air.”

He was sitting up straight, not even resting against the back of the chair. He had a lot on his mind, but now that she’d had a chance to eat, he supposed it was as good a time as any to actually talk to her about what was going on.

“Your arrival here will be welcome. We’re in a bit of a predicament. I’m afraid, due to the secrecy of the mission, we weren’t able to be entirely honest back on Velencya. The truth can sometimes cause panic, and right now we need our people to be as united as possible. The core of Velencya is failing.”

He spoke gently, but firmly. He didn’t want her to be afraid but he didn’t want her to think that the situation was something to be taken lightly, either.

“We are here to find a way to save it. However, there were complications. His Highness,” he said, still with respect and softness towards Caedus, “Is in the unique position of helping us, but he is unable to fulfill his duties. I’m trying to locate him. There are others who do not have the heart to retrieve him. My goal is to send his starseed back to the Cauldron so it can heal. So our Senshi of Velenia has a chance of awakening. So we can restore our world. We have become somewhat divided on this front, but that is not so foul a thing. There are those who understand the dire situation we are in, and there are those who cannot reconcile their feelings on the matter. We are all pursuing ways to help. Earth provides us the option to explore many paths, but I’m afraid we don’t have the time to be leisurely about it. Velencya will fail if we can’t find a way to stabilize and replenish the core. But even that’s just a temporary fix. We need the stability of a viable world. If we can replenish Velenia…”

He sighed; it was already a lot to digest. He sat straight, though, and watched her. He expected questions. He expected alarm.

It wasn’t an easy subject. But then, the Vanguard was dedicated to protecting Velencya. This mission was important. He needed her help.

Velencya needed her help.

There was an importance in listening to what the Commodore was explaining to her and Lysanna made every effort to lock every word spoken deep within her memory. This step needed to be taken in order for the cadet to be able to look back on this conversation later in case she needed to refocus her priorities. It was like those on Velencya had told her. Focus your thoughts on what needed to be done, in the here and now. Lysanna was definitely taking those words to heart. She needed too. She'd been chosen, well maybe, selected was more appropriate to be sent down in order to provide much needed assistance. Even as she put aside the container that had held a much appreciated meal did her movement still for a moment. Had she just heard what she thought she had heard? Because that just couldn't be true... could it?

"Velencya's core is failing?"

Lysanna was glad to have chosen a spot on a piece of furniture that gave ample support as she almost felt as if she'd been punched in the stomach. With a chair that had no backing, it would have meant that she would have fallen off such a seat, but the back of the couch that she had sat upon earlier arrested the movement and she instead felt resistance before staring at the Commodore with wide eyes before remembering who she was. As Lysanna digested the rest of Lyndin's words did the tiniest spark of frustration flare into existence. King Caedus had the solution for possibly saving their world, but chose to do the noblest of deeds and ...

Lysanna's eyes flashed for a moment before she pushed the negative emotions down for the time being. "Sir, if we can't return the starseed to the Cauldron that you speak of, what other hope does Velencya have?"

This was a lot more to deal with than Lysanna had thought possible, but given the thought of losing their world, what else could she do but be willing to give it her all to help things succeed?

"What do you need me to do; once I'm done resting?"

“I wish I had an easy answer for your question.” He smiled politely, kindly. A little sadly. “I can think of only that solution to secure our peoples’ future. But we must prepare alternatives should that option not be viable.”

He didn’t know if anyone had seen Caedus recently; for all he knew, he’d locked himself in some crystal or slipped away from Earth entirely.

He wouldn't stop searching.

"But, that’s part of why you’re here. Earth is alive and prospering. There are Senshi and Knights here–all born of Earth, who have only just uncovered their bonds. But they’ve been able to restore Wonders and Homeworlds in ways I don’t think anyone can truly explain. Yet.” He drew in a breath and then continued, “There is also the Negaverse. They are a Chaos-based organization. I have worked very hard to establish a decent bond with them. It isn’t much, but for the most part it secures our safety while we are here. We must do our best not to cross them while we are carrying out our research. But I think, if there are to be any alternatives to securing our future, it should start here. Many of your peers have taken on projects of their own. I’ve seen great strides in their studies. I’ll make sure you have everything you need to get a basic understanding of Earth culture, of what we need to do here, how we should operate. What we’ve uncovered and what progress we’ve made. The options are unlimited, and we’ll need all the help we can get. I will help guide you where I can, but much of this mission will fall to your own creativity and ingenuity. We’re all working towards the same goal. I know, together, we’ll be able to save Velencya.”

This was almost too much to take in at once but Lysanna listened as if her life depended on it. As if those lives that were left back on Velencya depended on it. The fact that even the Commodore was having problems tracking down their King was alarming. Lyndin was extremely powerful in his own rights but yet Caedus was able to elude being tracked down. Did that mean that Velencya's royalty was being sheltered by even more powerful figures? Or did that mean that he was able to shield himself from harm?

Was that something that she could look into? Sneaking around, sniffing here and there, searching out and teasing little bits of informational scraps that she could bring back to her Commodore. Or was her energy best directed towards starting a project of her own. Either way, depending on what path she set herself on from this point forward she would need the information that the Commodore could share with her about Terran customs. There was still much that she needed to know about this strange place.

"Commodore, I am wanting to do my best by you and Velencya. But I'm unsure on where I'd need to start first. Although, being reasonable, I guess I'll need to start by having a greater understanding on the culture here on Earth first before I even decide on what to focus on. I just don't want to limit myself to a single project. Is there anything not being worked on that might need attention or would you rather I proceed with ideas of my own?"

“Acclimating to this new world will be of the utmost priority,” he admitted. “Things are strange here, I won’t deny that. We’ve done our best to gather information to help anyone adjust as quickly as possible, but it’s still quite an effort to get settled in. In the meantime, I’ll make sure you have all of the information we can provide. For projects that need attention…I don't want to assign you to work with someone else, not without talking to them first. I would say the best option is to see if anything sparks your interest and pursue what inspires you the most. I think if you’ve got a project you’re interested in, it’s the best option for all of us.”

It was easier to be passionate about something you wanted to work on, and he trusted that she would be able to devote herself more completely if such were the case.

“But I’ll make sure you have connections if you want to work with someone. You’ll be a valuable asset no matter what you decide to do. And if you want to work under someone, we have a few down here with us, Commanders and Corporals, promoted since we arrived. You’ll be taken care of, if you need guidance or support, you’ll have it. Our paths may be different, but we’re all working our hardest to make progress for our people and our world.”

Taking into account everything that was being divulged to her Lysanna sat back and nodded once or twice to show that she understood were the Commodore was coming from. It seemed that instead of bringing her near limitless willingness to help with other projects already in the making that Lyndin would prefer her to find something that she could do on her own; to find something that would spark interests deep inside. It was probably the smartest idea once she thought about it. All of the other members that had come down to Earth before she had had about two years of being on Earth to acclimate successfully and find their own interests in the meantime.

Feeling almost at odds Lysanna glanced around at the dwelling that the Vanguard were stationed in before she sighed, "I don't understand how everything seems like it's been turned upside down. I can understand the need to adjust to this world as soon as possible and any assistance with this would be extremely helpful. I am positive that I'll find something that I can work on as soon as I understand more of what Earth has to offer."

She let her gaze linger around at the various appliances in the room before letting out a slow breath. To understand what each contraption did would be beneficial but at the moment she was perhaps feeling the effect of the meal
she had just finished but she found herself almost wanting to doze off. Fine way to repay the Commodore; falling asleep would not be the best move right now. But I am tired.

"Though perhaps I need to rest as you mentioned earlier. I apologize for this Sir, but I am finding it harder to stay focused at the moment."

Lyndin watched her with an obviously knowing smile. He nodded. “Of course. You’ve had a long trip, and this is a phenomenal amount of information to take in at once. Let’s get you to a room you can rest in, and after you’ve had some time to recover, we can pick back up on things. I’ll make sure you’ve got a guide to Earth for you to read over when you’re ready, I’ll send it to your ComTech.”

He seemed patient and understanding–and how could he not be? He knew what a daunting task this was. He knew how hard this was. Especially for the Cadets who were experiencing something entirely new to them.

“When you’ve had some time to decompress, you should speak to some of the other members, too. You’ll find plenty of them around. I know they’ll be happy to see you. Eager to take you under their wing, too. If you’re looking for guidance. Don’t ever be afraid to reach out to them, or me. We all have the same goal, here.”

The offer of her own room, her own space, here on Earth was probably the turning point in just realizing how exhausted Lysanna really was. Although she'd been asleep for most of the journey to Earth the cadet really had been on the move since. Whether it was the physical aspect of finding their way back to this communal dwelling or the mental gymnastics of adjusting to the sudden changes being wrought, she was suddenly overcome with the need to rest.

The offer of information being sent to her ComTech that would be essential for her start to acclimate to this new setting that she found herself in had a smile of gratitude being flashed at the Commodore even as she rose to her feet. Her voice was strained for a moment before it came back stronger, "I'd be appreciative of any insight the others can provide. Thank you once more Commodore for offering this opportunity to me. If it weren't for you, I'd have been severely limited in what I could offer others back on Velencya. Here, well, maybe I can be of more use."
