Wounds healed in time, the physical often more quickly than the emotional, but on this occasion Namielle had to concede that the pair were running head to head in terms of progress. The last few weeks had been difficult to say the least, and she had seen far more in this period than she had since she'd had her epiphany and unceremoniously fallen out of her stasis. Up until now one might have even said Namielle was naïve, completely oblivious to the reality of, well, everything...

Once upon a time she had chuckled at the rather abrupt demeanour of the disgruntled senshi who had vanished from existence. His over abundance of caution, his suspicion, and his cynicism had all been met with a wry smile and a good humoured set of placating words. He'd always been too concerned with the evidence, too fixated on when something didn't seem right, and too keen not to succumb to what could be when the probability seemed so low and far too much like the notion and dream of a small child.

It pained her to admit that he might have been on to something with this one.

Would he have gloated if he'd known? Would he have lectured and chastised those he knew for being so utterly blind? She had to give credit where it was due that short of a lifted eyebrow and a disappointed and otherwise breathy sigh, the man rarely fixated and beat anyone in to the ground, but right now she wasn't entirely sure she would have been undeserving of it.

Then again...

As she sat on the bench, her little takeaway box carefully positioned by her side, the feline couldn't help but stare bleakly at the fountain. Despite everything that had happened that day there had been those within that group who had been completely and utterly oblivious to that plan. They had been duped in their own way, led astray and their hands otherwise forced. Their superiors had betrayed the White Moon rather than the whole species as a collective unit. Suffice to say that while she could feel anger bubble in her chest, she couldn't place it on any of the innocent who had been left between a rock and a hard place.

In the grand scheme of things perhaps this what made it so difficult to find closure, eh?

She couldn't blame anyone. Well, she probably could, the absolute arrogance of an alien who had descended to the planet and demanded that they trust and obey him while pinned in by the very thing that would consume them was probably worthy of a significant smack to the face... But the rest of them, not so much. In the end they were all going to have to pick up the pieces in some capacity and she didn't quite know what that looked like for her just yet.

It was with a gusty sigh that she finally turned to her box, cracked it open and lifted the little chopsticks with both paws. Despite her lack of apposable thumbs in this form she wasn't that bad with them, even if it might look odd to a passerby.

Heh.

...At least this place was quiet and out of the way, so she had that going for her, which was nice.

Lyndin would have known she was a Mauvian even if his ComTech hadn’t alerted him of her presence a few moments ago. The chopsticks were a dead giveaway, every bit as much as the star on her forehead.

He didn’t come to Destiny City often, but this was important.

This was necessary.

It could have been anyone, but fate had decided it was her, and he felt a warmth in subspace that told him this was the one.

He’d been looking for a while, now.

Lyndin was tired in every way someone could be. Physically, he was somewhat restored, but he had poured so much of himself into charging the weapon that he wasn’t even sure he’d ever get that energy back.

It wasn’t important. What was important was convincing the Mauvian to help him.

To help her.

He approached silently, no more than a shadow in the night, but he wielded no weapon and bore no malice.

He didn’t want to startle her, and he didn’t want her to run away. He waited until he was closer to speak, and when he did he kept his voice as soft as he could manage. “You are a Mauvian, aren’t you?” he asked.

But, he knew already, so he continued, “I need your help.”

Company was rarely spurned when it came to Namielle, but as the looming figure made himself known and the familiarity of his 'dulcet' tones wept across the tips of her ears, it was safe to say that she had half a mind to pick up her dinner and go home. Nevertheless, if someone like him was out at night and reaching out to her, then she did at least see reason to give him half of a second.

...That didn't mean she hadn't cast a cursory glance behind him just in case he had brought company. Safe to say that she wasn't arrogant to the point of thinking he'd necessarily need help if he really wanted to do some harm to her, but one could never be so sure. Her quick checks had at least confirmed (to her senses) that he was alone though, or at least devoid of Negaverse company as he approached and she subsequently set her chopsticks down to observe him.

He needed her help?

She wasn't even the best of Mauvians in existence either but perhaps all the others had had the sense to avoid him, eh?

"I feel like the initial question may have been rhetorical," she replied at last, her tone a touch wary. She curled her tail around her paws and finally shook her head. Devoid of any idea of what he might need from her, it served her no purpose to delay him.

"I can't say I'm in the market for corrupting my own kind again, but you don't really need anyone's help for that if you really wanted to do it again," she sighed and pursed her lips. "And you look like you've gone twenty rounds with Mike Tyson so..." she lifted a paw to motion towards him.

"What does a tired soul need of this Mauvian?" she asked at last.

“No trouble,” Lyndin assured, and he seemed to mean it. Only, he hadn’t really had a tell at any point prior to now, either. He didn’t correct that he wasn’t interested in corruption, nor did he explain his fatigue.

He was fine, and functioning, and that was enough for him.

“I need a favor. Not quite for myself, but I won’t lie that I would benefit from your assistance. I have a starseed that I need to get back to the Cauldron. I cannot take it on my own, I don’t have the power. I need someone I can trust. Someone who can get into contact with someone who can. I know Mauvians are honorable. And you, especially, might understand how important this is.”

He held out his hands, open palmed, and a bubbled starseed shimmered. There were flaws in its surface; it had been damaged, badly.

And, meticulously put back together. Each and every piece was returned to its rightful spot, and the starseed hummed with energy.

It had been broken, splintered into a thousand pieces.

It had been fixed.

“She will not finish healing outside of the Cauldron. I cannot bring her body back to life, but her spirit can move on. We have been looking for someone who can contact Cosmos, and Caerynn has chosen you. Can you reach her?”

I don't have the power.

Her ears flicked just a touch at that tidbit of information. It seemed irrelevant at this point to dwell on it, but something in the back of her mind filed it a way for future musings. Whether it would turn out to be useful, even in some small capacity remained to be seen. Regardless, such a statement was all but eclipsed by the tiny, simmering object that rested in his palm, something she recognised, in a state she didn't realise was even remotely possible.

She had watched as that thing had been crushed, doomed to oblivion by the Negaverse. Yet before her very eyes it rested, vulnerable and fragile, but whole. The damage hadn't been entirely reversed, but whatever he had done, however it might have achieved it, the starseed had been recovered and graced with a little more time...

Caerynn.

The young woman had thrown herself in front of Namielle and her fellow Mauvians to ensure they would stay safe and she had paid the ultimate price. Who in their right mind would deny Lyndin's request, particularly when it was to one of those that Caerynn had done everything to protect?

Namielle's expression softened as she turned her gaze up towards Lyndin's face. She had more than a few questions, but now seemed neither the time or place to ask them. Right now, he had asked of a boon and though she wasn't entirely sure of how she would find Cosmos, she would do her utmost to ensure she did.

"How much time does she have?" she asked softly.

She would find away.

...She just needed to know how much time she had to work with.

“I can maintain the starseed for as long as it takes,” he said, which was a promise more than an answer. “Days. Weeks. I will protect it for as long as she needs it. But it can’t be manhandled. Her spirit is still there,” he said, only he seemed to have the slightest hesitation.

“I think,” he finally added. “Perhaps it is only my mind playing tricks on me. But I think she led me here, to you. I think this is where she wants to be.”

He wasn’t much for superstition, or putting too much faith in emotion–especially over fact–but there were things even he couldn’t explain.

Logically, he was here because he felt drawn here.

Maybe it was luck.

Maybe it was destiny.

Maybe it was Caerynn’s will.

"Or perhaps you may want to open yourself to the possibility that miracles exist," Namielle replied gently as she leaned in to examine the bubbled starseed carefully. "Small and seemingly insignificant to some, but never a trick," she pointed out and took a deep breath. Given the splinters and cracks on the surface, Lyndin's remarks that it couldn't be manhandled were most certainly to be respected and she would have to find an adequate container to hold it in so that she didn't jostle it.

No, she had something in mind, to keep it both secret and safe until she managed to find Cosmos.

"But I think that it would be in Caerynn's best interests and yours, if I were to work as quickly as I can for you," she added. Lyndin might have done some rather questionable things and she may not have agreed with many of them. His actions that day had certainly defined a part of who he was to her, but just as those actions had defined him, so too had these. She might not be ready to forgive or forget what he had done to the Senshi and Knights who had fallen to corruption, but she wouldn't completely condemn him... Not when there was something within him that encouraged him to achieve things like this.

To her he had done the impossible, he had saved a soul.

"I will help you," she agreed. "Not just for Caerynn, but for you as well," she murmured.

Perhaps if he was allowed to protect one less thing, the poor man might look a little less haggard.

“I’m a man of science,” Lyndin said, almost apologetically. He could only believe in what he could prove.

Hope alone wasn’t going to save his people or his world, he needed more.

“But I am starting to think that there might be some science in hope, too. Thank you.”

He looked at the starseed once more, maybe with guilt in his expression. Maybe with affection. Maybe it was an apology. He’d no doubt spent a lot of time piecing it back together, and he’d spent time with Caerynn well before this, too.

“I wouldn’t dream to rush you, but I won’t deny that the faster she is returned to the Cauldron, the better off she’ll be. The protective barrier around her is the best I can do.” And, judging by the low hum of energy coming from around it, he’d put a lot into it.

He seemed as though he was still carrying the weight of the world–his world–on his shoulders, but seeing the starseed in Namielle’s possession was a start. It was one more step closer to her being okay. He couldn’t just hope for the best, he had to do everything in his power to force the best outcome.

And, for all that he could tell, leaving this starseed with Namielle was the best option he had.

"Perhaps you should regard Hope as the catalyst towards something greater," she pointed out gently. She could appreciate science, that was what Mauvians were (sort of) to a degree, but having been surrounded by an array of magical beings for as long as she could recall, it was hard to ignore the fact that the miracles they performed were powered by something...even if it wasn't something she could reach out and touch.

"I guess in that way, Hope is the catalyst and the miracle is the consequence. Everything that happens in between is the important as well, but in the end, Hope still set it in motion," she smiled softly as she carefully reached for the starseed and deposited it into the small little jewelled box. It wasn't much to be fair, she'd mostly kept her delicate toys inside it until recently, but now it seemed like the perfect place to store it.

...And then it would be safe in Subspace right? She couldn't jostle it there.

"I will find Cosmos for you and I'll see to it that Caerynn can return home to you some day," she gave a firm nod. "You have my word as a Mauvian and...well," she paused briefly. "As Caerynn's friend," she finished.

She took a rather deep breath at that point and heaved a sigh.

"I guess I had best get to work then, hm?" She murmured. "No time like the present to bring this little miracle to a much better conclusion."

Lyndin’s eyes followed the starseed until there was nothing left to watch. Finally, he nodded.

“Thank you,” he said again. “I will have to think on your words. Hope isn’t my realm of expertise. But I have others with a growing talent. We shall see what comes of it.”

It wasn’t that late, but he’d already been out for long enough, and he knew he had many enemies. He didn’t want to draw any unnecessary attention to himself, to her.

“I’ll ask for one more favor, if I may. It’s only discretion. I walk a precarious line, but if you can do this quietly I’ll owe you in return. I don’t forget favors.”

"I know someone who is often keen to keep their own activities quiet," she shook her head. "Sometimes when it comes to certain things that we need to do in life, the world doesn't need to know about them," she smiled wryly. While it might have been 'cool' to show the world what could be done, what miracles lay in the universe and could possibly be emulated some day...now was neither the time or place.

Hope was a potent thing, but if she were to pursue this line of inquiry, she would need a lot more than that.

"I'll look after her for you, but I don't generally collect favours," she pointed out with a soft chuckle. "However, perhaps you might afford me an answer to a question when I have succeeded in what you ask," she mused and tilted her head to the side.

"If that counts as a sufficient definition of 'favour' to you, then I shall be on my way to bring her home," she finished softly.

Lyndin nodded, contemplative but agreeable. “I would feel better if I had the opportunity to repay you for this. You are her friend, and I suspect you’d do it out of the goodness of your heart. But those sound like reasonable terms. I would like to see you again, so I can know how it went.”

He needed to hear that it had gone well.

“So if you have a question for me then, I will be happy to answer it. I’ll let you be on your way. I should be on my own as well.”

He had accomplished what he set out to do; her starseed was in good hands, he thought.

He wouldn’t have left her with just anyone. This felt right.

"Then it's settled," she said and gave a firm nod towards him. "When I have good news, I'll come with my question," she finished. However, given she had spent entirely too much time conversing with the Commodore in a rather cold region of the park, her dinner was a touch too cold to enjoy in its current form. It wasn't the end of the world, but she was going to need to return home briefly to remedy that.

"Now if you don't mind, I'll be on my way. I have a meal to reheat and some research to do if I'm to succeed," she smiled warmly and gathered her little boxes, slipping them with an unusual degree of dexterity into the paper bag once more.

"Do look after yourself, otherwise you'll waste away and I suspect that wouldn't be a popular outcome," she added before lifting the bag in her mouth, giving a little wave of her paw and hopping off the bench to continue on her way home.

Suffice it to say that she really did have a great deal to think about when it came to this particular task. She had promised to be delicate with this and to be completely honest, it sounded like it needed to be done quietly. Whatever the Commodore was doing, an approach like this may put him at odds with something (or someone) and she would much rather avoid that. As much as she would love to ask for help, or at least some guidance, she would sooner a couple of the more curious souls, or the more talkative souls, didn't get wind of this.

...No; she'd figure this out on her own.

She had to.
