Lysanna's eyes flickered open. Her gaze took in the familiar interior of the pod that she'd been safely ensconced in for the past few days as it shuttled her from Velencya to Earth. At least she hoped it was Earth. There was always the chance that the coordinates could have been mixed up and she had ended up somewhere else all together but even as she thought about that possibility did she dismiss it. For a moment all Lysanna did was try to recall what she had been told before sighing. She had been told that Commodore Lyndin was expecting her arrival but beyond that she was not sure what else she could expect from this agreed upon mission.

Velencya would be fine without her meddling ways and if she could help further the mission on Earth along then she was in the right place to be able to do so.

It was hard knowing that she'd be away from the comforts of home but Lysanna knew that she could make a go of almost any situation and she wanted to bring that same type of energy to whatever she was assigned to work on, here on Earth.

But was she on Earth? Only by releasing the lid on her pod would she be able to tell. There had been no alarms blaring; warning her of danger and it was with fingers that shook, just a little, that she activated the sequence that would see her taking her first deep breaths of Terran air and taking in the first impressions of a world that she had heard very little about. But she was ready to acclimate herself to this new world and that meant locating the one that she was told was going to meet her ... Commodore Lyndin.

Pushing aside the unsealed lid did Lysanna sit up to fully get her first impressions settled. The sky above her was filled with a bright blue sky and there was a pleasant odor that found its way into her nasal passages before she coughed. Good god, I'm drowning in flowers, and it was true because somehow her pod had landed smack dab in the middle of a collection of wild flowering shrubs that gave off the strongest floral scent she'd ever come across.

Okay, the pod maybe veered a little off course. I was told to expect a hilltop clearing. This is certainly not a clearing ... but I seem to be on a hill. Maybe after so long nature reclaimed this place? Would the Commodore even expect that the pod would go slightly off course?

It didn’t matter that they had been away from Velencya for as long as they had been–a day, a week, a year. They were the same for Lyndin.

He remembered her.

He recognized her immediately, and a soft smile grew on his face as he made his way up the hill.

“Cadet Lysanna,” he greeted. There was a warmth in his voice, maybe softer than he’d been on Velencya. Earth might have changed him a bit, too. “Here you are. I’m glad I was tracking your GPS Coordinates. Earth’s atmosphere is not always the most agreeable, I saw that you had to deal with some debris on the way here.”

The pod seemed like it was still in relatively good condition, though–a testament to the resilience of the Velencians. He already had a plan for the scraps once they unloaded the supplies she brought with her.

“How was the trip over?”

Even if he was only being polite, it was a comfortable conversation as he made his way to stand before her. He had every bit as much presence as he did the last time he’d stood before her, but now he seemed a little more tired. He was rested! He was fed.

He carried a heavy burden that weighed on him even now, but as long as there was hope, and drive, and dedication, he had faith that their goals were still within reach.

Debris? I encountered debris? Guess the stasis I was under kept me unaware. But it must've not been a lot otherwise the pod would have been blaring warning alarms.

Even as Lysanna thought this did she turn around to face the pod for a moment. She hadn't remembered any debris but then again after an hour or two into the journey Lysanna decided sleeping was better than staying awake and had triggered the control that would have sent her into a stasis'ed slumber for what would have been most of the remainder of the journey to Earth. It had probably been the correct decision to make and she glanced to the pod again in an un-apologetic manner before bringing her gaze up to the familiar figure in front of her, "Commodore Lyndin. Good afternoon sir," and she paused to take in the sights around her: yes it most clearly wasn't morning as the sun seemed directly overhead which ruled out evening or night, so yes, it was afternoon. "I think I fared well enough. It is rather hard to compare though when one is sleeping."

Lysanna was mildly comforted in the familiar sight of the Commodore standing before her and she absently tucked a strand of her violet hair behind her ear before letting her gaze travel to light upon various features of the hill on which they both stood. Lysanna felt her gaze widen appreciatively at all the flora on display before straightening her posture as she faced Lyndin again, seemingly all business now. She had a message to give to the one that she would be following for the foreseeable future and had to make sure that the information she had been instructed to relay was delivered. Okay, so technically it's not really important and he'll see for himself that everything that was requested is here, but still...

"Commodore, Velencya was able to send what you had asked for in regards to supplies. I was also asked to pass along a message to you as well. The council wants you to know that everything remains the same and that nothing has really changed."

It was obviously a bit of a coded message and Lysanna would have loved to have deciphered exactly what it meant but she had been too keyed up to sit down and pick apart the inflection stressed on the words. Instead she had devoted her time to preparing herself for the journey to Earth. Once she had been in the pod and before launch she'd been reminded again of the message before her pod had been jettisoned into space. She'd remembered and done her singular duty for the moment before taking a moment to really observe the Commodore. Her eyes widened for a moment before hushed tones issued from her mouth, "Are you well Commodore? If you would like to rest I can start unloading the supplies that were sent down."

if I took a bit of liberties here, I apologize in advance.

Lyndin undoubtedly understood the message. He had limited communication with the Council but he was doing his best to secure a better communication system, and he was hoping with these supplies he might be able to complete more than a few projects.

His lips pressed together only briefly, but even with the message, he smiled. “No, it’s fine. I apologize for my appearance, I know you’re not used to seeing me like this. Earth has a way of being a bit exhausting. Always so much to do. I am well enough, all things considered. Very glad to have you here. But.”

He drew in a breath–hardly noticeable, but enough to prepare for what he needed to tell her. “We can turn on the cloaking device on this for now. The security system will protect it until we can come back tonight. I’d rather do this without risking anyone finding us. I don’t want your trip to be wasted. We’ve got our work cut out for us here. Velencya…will need all the help we can give it. I’m glad you’re here. I hope you’re prepared to work.”

He knew she was. He knew the Council would have warned her that this was an ongoing, lengthy mission. That it was dangerous.

She’d still come, and he appreciated her all the more for it.

"Earth has a way of being exhausting."

Something in how the Commodore spoke that line had Lysanna look around at the flora that surrounded them with a keener sense of intrigue. It probably wasn't meant that this specific location had a way of being exhausting but probably the planet in general. Lysanna's nerves hummed with the thought of maybe she had found the easiest solution to her own problems. But she instead refocused on what her Commodore was now explaining about what they could do with the pod in which she had travelled for a few days in. Having the cloaking device be activated would be the next logical step in making sure that the local populace didn't stumble across it in the meantime and she merely nodded. "I will admit it is a little shocking, your current appearance, that is. I can remember the day in which you departed Velencya with the group that had been chosen to accompany King Caedus and yourself back to Earth."

Lysanna hadn't been ready to join with her fellow cadets then but something had shifted inside once that large group had left. It was almost like she was trying to make up for lost time in tasks and skills that she was lacking. Maybe, just maybe, there would be something on Earth that she could accomplish.

"I am ready and able to work sir," but here Lysanna's own physiology worked against her as her stomach rumbled loudly, "is there anything you have around that I might be able to eat. I forgot, one doesn't eat much while in stasis."

Lyndin smiled politely when she again commented on his appearance, but he supposed it must have just been obvious. He rarely spent time preening in front of a mirror. He wasn’t trying to keep up appearances more so than he needed to.

Vanity was misplaced here.

“There is much to eat here. Earth has quite the flavorful array of food here.”

He’d learned from the arrival of the first Cadets–he would need to teach her about currency. About maintaining a glamour. About ‘fitting in’.

“I have some instant meals, the flavors of home.”

They could eat. He could tell her what was going on here. They could get her started on her new mission.

He wasn’t looking forward to the conversation, but it was necessary if they were going to save Velencya.

The offer of instant meals, something that was uniquely Velencian was tempting. It would quell the hunger pangs that Lysanna was experiencing before she once more glanced to the pod in which she'd travelled in. She had been sent to Earth to work and while that was what she was going to do ... one needed to be able to function in order to do so.

"I definitely could use something to eat and your solution is acceptable."

After she took care of some of the more basic needs then she could get straight to work, as soon as she found out what she needed to do.

Lysanna wasn't sure what to expect but was committed to doing what needed to be done in order to help Velencya, "Just lead the way sir, and I will follow."
