About: Temper: Empathic
Uetzcayotl is very much her mother Ikinya's daughter. She has a heart filled with love and compassion for all living things. She is all kindness and understanding. But has a swift hot-temper and an intolerance for those who are ignorant, bigoted and mean to those who are different. She is deeply emotional and feels everything deeply. She is prone to extreme highs and lows of emotion, though she tries to have more highs than lows. She loves her biological mother and is grateful to her for not only giving her life, but for giving her to the family who adores her and her brothers. It is her dearest wish to one day become even half the mare Ikinya is. She longs to be as wise, and capable and all around good as her mother.
As a foal-(preferred pronouns are they/them/their as they try to figure themself out) this bright, cheerful young foal is different than their brothers. Sure they are the same in body, but something feels off to this foal, and they want to know what it is – and why – so they spend a lot of time searching and learning instead of playing. Though that isn't to say they will turn down the chance to play if asked. She will often go out and find anyone or anything that is injured or broken and bring them back home to try and fix, but is often easily distracted by something new or different or shiny, and doesn't always follow through, leaving that up to whoever in the family is willing. And if she happens onto bullying of any kind, she is quick to act the part of protector... whether it is wanted. or not. It is around this time she realises she won't ever be able to become a healer of the flesh, because she has a hard time dealing with blood...
As an adult-(preferred pronouns are she/her as she becomes comfortable in her identity) With the loving guidance and teaching of their family, Uetzcayotl realises who and what they truly are. They are not male, like their body dictates, but female. And her need to assist others in similar circumstances becomes a driving passion in her life. She finds her purpose, her cuase. The thing she will stand up for and fight for no matter what the cost. And she will start to become the mare she always wished she could be, even if she doesn't realise it yet.
She is omnivorous, but chooses for the most part not to eat meat except in certain circumstances, though it is not in her to hunt or kill for meat unnecessarily and if she is offered meat from another's kill, she will not turn it down as to do so would be impolite and rude. And she will always offer up a prayer of thanks for the creature's sacrifice, and to ask for forgiveness for cutting short the lifespan of another creature. Whether it is at her hooves or anothers'.
She always wanted to be a healer, or to help others in anyway that she could, but Uetzcayotl found out very quickly that she was too weak to handle the sight of wounds and injuries, so she focused on the compounding of herbal mixtures or attending to wounds of the heart and soul by offering a willing ear and a comfortable shoulder if it was necessary.
Prompt Picked:Prompt 3: As a young adult your family takes a venture to a location to study the local culture, and decide to take a bit of a stretch and explore a little on your own after having been in the same location for about a month. Meeting one of the locals, you strike up a conversation with them and make good friends with them right off the bat. After a few days of spending time with this pony you get curious and, using the fact you look different from the rest of your family, you ask them if they've heard about the Angeni of Learning and his family visiting the area. Unfortunately, it seems your new friend isn't too fond of your parent's relationship being as it is due to it being 'unnatural', or perhaps simply not understanding it. How do you react? Do you attempt to educate them and perhaps try to introduce them to your family? Do you laugh it off to keep the friendship, pretending to be unrelated to them? Do you react in anger and break the friendship immediately?
Prompt Response
All her life, Uetzcayotl had heard the whispers, been the subject of most of them with being what she was. And for the most part, it didn't bother her, not anymore. Because she had her family, who loved and supported her. They were the only ones whose opinions mattered to her. But this, this was different. It wasn't about her. It was about her mother and father. That made it different. For some reason that hurt more than the whispers about her. How could anyone think that love was wrong? Her parents might not have been traditional. But they loved each other. And they loved their family. What was more important than that?
She held her head high, and tried to ignore it at first. Those speaking those hurtful words were ignorant. They didn't know any better. They didn't know Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl. Perhaps once they got to know them, the whispers would stop. Or at last change. Perhaps if they could only understand. With that in mind, she thought that perhaps if she started by introducing her new friend to her family, perhaps they might understand. And they might change their mind. And they might be able to salvage their friendship.
Love and family are the most important things in her life, and Uetzcayotl would never do anything that might compromise her relationship with them, but friendship is almost as important. She had a large family, but she had very very few friends, and she wasn't going to throw away a friendship unless there was just no way she could reconcile her friend and their views, with her family, and all the love and craziness that came along with them.
'I know that you may not like my family, or understand them, but I think, if you take the chance to get to know us, you will see. W aren't unusual. We aren't unnatural. Just... keep an open mind, and give us a chance.' She took a breath. 'If you really are my friend then please, just trust me. Try.'

Temper: Passionate Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Male Orientation (optional): love doesnt discriminate RP examples (optional):Newestherehereand much older one, getting more into things again About: Celestine is quite not saying much at times but most often has a smile on his face and loves the world around him. Family is everything to him and wouldn't trade his slightly oddball and large one for anything and will defend them to death. His father and brothers are much into learning and he is no stranger to the urge to know more, but is main interest is the stars, he is fascinated with the night sky and the mysteries it holds and he would be be in heaven if he could live amongst them. This at times makes him a dreamer and his head can often get left above the clouds in his wonder and seek to learn all he can. He adds a bit of imagination in his foalhood when learning about them, imagining adventures and sometimes imaging the stars are his friend and he will converse with them. As an adult he knows this is childhood fancy but his love for the stars has only increased and his goal is to become a master in astronomy and he learns to read the stars and even believes with training it could be possible to tell the future or past from them.
Prompt Picked: 3
Prompt Response
The family had been here awhile now and for all Celestine could see all accepted their presence but he heard whispers among some of the adults that some protested them being here and wished them to move on. He couldn't understand this, the lands and herds they'd come across had been no problem before why this one, what did they have against his family? He shrugged it off and went about his chores waiting for night to fall to chart the stars above him as best he could.
Night finally fell and theconversations of the adults faded in the wind as he took to his first love, the twinkling sky above. He had started to learn the true nature of the stars, but still felt they were his friends especially the constellations he could see. He found Ursa Major above him and smiled. "Good evening Mother Ursa, how do you fare?", he giggled as if he had received a response. "That's good to hear, next time tell Little Ursa to not be so curious and his head wont get stuck in a log."
It was then someone cleared their throat. Expecting it to me one of his brothers he stood and turned. "Ill be back soo....Oh sorry I thought you were one of my brothers. Lily you know not to sneak up on me.", he said to the young mare not much older then him. She looked at him with her head tilted to the side curious of him before she responded. "Hey Cele, Who are you talking to all the time?", she asked as she looked around not seeing anyone else around as usual
Celestine took a few steps closer and then pointed his nose to the sky in response. "Ursa Major, a group of stars, she's my friend just like you", he said with such enthusiasm. "Uh huh...they are just stars, twinkling lights in the sky ya know.....but whatever floats your boat. You know you never did tell me where your from", she said with a chuckle at her silly friend. She probably would've called him weird but she too had her quirks and he was fun to be around.
"They are stars, but so much more then twinkling lights, they are as old as time, aren't you curious about them, what stories they could tell us? Oh hadn't I? Well Im with the....", he stopped himself before speaking his herds name remembering what he heard the adults saying earlier, maybe he could learn something from her, she would know something having lived here all her life right? "....From the next valley over! Hehe, the view of the stars looks better from here though. They know I'm here. Say have you heard about the traveling herd that's been around?"
She flicked her tail in an agitated manor and huffed, "Of coarse who hasn't? They can hurry and go back where they came from!", there was disdain in her voice. Her words hurt Celestine, but she was his friend they had become close since they met and he had faith in her to hear him out. "What's so bad about them, they are here to learn and understand right? what offense have they taken?"
Lily stared at him in shock. "Have you not seen them, their so called "family" is an abomination. The Leader a noble angeni supposedly pure and wise is with a small on an Usdia and their children aren't 'their' children. It just not right! Children shouldn't come into the world like that, a mare usdia or not being ok with her so called love having other mares bear him kids and calling them her own? NO, its not right Cele, you understand that right?"
Celestine looked in shock at his friend, was her herd and family so close minded that she was disillusioned to the meaning of true family? No he couldn't believe that he sat and looked to the stars and sighed. "So would you say you'd rather id not been born?" Lily began to speak but Celestine continued, glancing sideways at her while still facing the sky.
"I lied earlier, Im not from around here you see the Yectenehua, they are my family and my mother is the leader of the herd. We seek to know and grow and as such our family has grown and yes we may be different but as for my mother and father, biological or not they have the same love for me. Who is it to decide what a relationship is or what form love can take. There are many breeds in the land, many faiths and beliefs and none wrong or right, but they just are. We are all still mortal beings put here for a reason and I believe love is free and doesn't discriminate among creed and none have the right to denounce love in such an arrogant and fickle manor. We are free to believe what we want and many things in this world can be explained but love is not one. If you cant accept me and my family for having free love then you aren't the free-spirited and light-hearted mare I thought you were."
Lily stared speechless at her friend, she wanted to object to him, but found she couldn't for what he was saying rang true in her heart. "There is no color to love, why should there be size or breed to it. I let my families old ways take over, I'm sorry we are so closed minded to your families ways, you are special and your family is too in the best way to have such big and open hearts. Ill try to change my herd view as it is wrong. Im sorry Cele."
Celestine stood with a smile and hugged his friend. "Its ok and they aren't wrong necessarily, tradition is merely strong and when things different threaten a way of life it can make one scared and close of the wisest of minds, it takes time. Be patient, my family is and I hope to be. It may hurt at times, but we press on and we grow from it isn't that right Momma Ursa?", he said with a chuckle looking back at the stars. Lily laughed and smiled at her dear friend, "You are silly, Ill miss you when you go, but enough of that. Teach me about the stars!"
The two friends laughed together the whole night as he told her what he had learned so far about the stars. Lily would go on to talk to her herds elders and explain the tribe, though some still holding disdain for the family hierarchy most came to accept and respect their lands visitors. When it finally came time for them to move on Lily gave her friend the biggest send off accompanied by the stars and their friendship would burn on forever.
(Lily is was a made-up filly for the purpose of this response only and has no physical form in anyway in the shop, just wanted to give a name to his friend xD)
About: Where his brothers seem to be more interested in gaining knowledge of illness, curses, and things surrounding the more magical and strange aspects of the world, Matshana looks more to how one can care for those in the greatest need. He takes it upon himself to act as a sort of caregiver for those that suffer 'dark' illnesses - like the kind that his great grandmother from his biological mother's family suffers from - and don't quite know how to ask for help. Or maybe they don't want it but might need it. He wishes to understand diseases of the mind more, like that which plagues his biomother's family line. But where his brother's might seek to find the cure, Matshana searches for ways to help them live their life. His deepest wish is to uphold the acceptance Yectenehua shows those who are viewed as different, and create a place that will also allow individuals with a dark illness to call home, finding help and possibly family who won't shun them.
As a foal, Matshana will be more reluctant to add meat to his daily supplements. But as he grows, with perhaps some encouragement from his brothers and some education from his other siblings about what creatures he can eat, he'll develop into an omnivore and learn how to hunt.
Prompt Picked: 1
Prompt Response
Lessons had finished for the day, and there was a bit of free time to waste in whatever way he wished until the family got together for the evening. Matshana considered going to play with his brothers, but something that his father had brought up in lessons was consistently prodding at his mind.
Where would his hooves lead him in life?
Matshana found himself veering away from the fun his siblings were starting up, looking for a quiet corner - something that wasn't so easy to accomplish with such a big family! - to settle in and let his mind wander.
Where did he see himself when he was as big as dad? Because he totally would be big and strong like his father, the Angeni of Knowledge!
But would he be an Angeni of Knowledge himself? Matshana frowned. No, he didn't think so. That was dad's specialty thing, right? He didn't fully understand it yet... but he got the feeling that he wasn't going to be exactly like his father. But he did have a thirst for knowledge. Just like his brothers. They had each expressed interest in researching their own field. And Matshana couldn't deny he might follow that same path.
It just didn't seem like the true one he wanted to follow. Which was odd, since he did want to gather more knowledge on things. Like why did so many view their herd as strange? What was so 'strange' about them? And what about the thing he'd heard about his mama Sapphire's family? There were strange things that happened in her family, like a dark thing of some sort. Matshana didn't know what it was, exactly, but it intrigued him. He wanted to know more about it. To understand it. To research it, like his brothers.
Yet... he felt there was more he wanted to do. He liked helping mother. She was essentially the caregiver to the entire herd! And she was so amazing. He really looked up to what she had and could accomplish.
"I want to help." He said aloud, nodding at the certainty of this fact. The question was, how did he want to help? His brothers were going to seek out answers.
"So maybe... I can help like mama does?" He tilted his head thoughtfully. "And... and use the knowledge that Azurite and Johari gain to provide that help!" His ears perked up and he felt something inside him squeeze in excitement. Yes! Yes that could work. His brothers could do the field research and he could try to apply the knowledge they found to help mama back here! "I could help care for those like mama Sapphire's family suffer." It would also provide him with the chance to work first hand with those dealing with a strange illness of the head. He could study them in person, figure out a way to assist them. And if his brothers found anything useful, he could try to apply it to those he was caring for!
Matshana jumped to his feet, so excited about his decision. He... wanted to tell mama and dad right away! Especially mama. She'd appreciate his help, right? Oh he certainly hoped so!
Mind a little less clouded and cluttered, Matshana raced off to deliver his news to his parents and brothers.

Played by: Faithofthefallen Name: Azubuike (the past is your strength) Biosex: Male Gender (optional): cisgendered Orientation (optional): bisexual RP examples (optional): Into the woods Where the heart is An open Heart Banished About:
Despite the shadows haunting one side of his lineage, Azubuike is proof that nurture is at least equally important to a foal's development as nature. The influence of Cuahcoatl's bloodline, as well as the advantage of being raised in a warm and well adjusted family with a bubbly mare like Ikinya as a mother, has tempered any potential darkness in Azu. From birth, Azubuike received a very broad and eclectic education. With such a huge and diverse family, there has always been someone to talk to, someone to learn something from, and the stallion took full advantage of those opportunities. Because of this, Azu is modestly skilled in a variety of areas. He studied music and dancing with the Amachis, received training in both armed and unarmed combat from his father, Kaliski, and other fighting members of the herd. He's also dabbled in herb lore and healing, but his true passion has always been the study of Anthropology. Many of the Yectenua herd members come from very different backgrounds. Azu was always struck by the way their cultures influenced their personalities and behaviors. From a very young age, Azu has felt driven to learn more about the various peoples that inhabit Kawaii and how and why they form different working societies. As an adult, Azu is a clydesdale of a stallion, and although gentle and quiet in nature, his large size deters all but the most aggressive enemies. That, as well as the broad base of survival skills he accumulated growing up, allows him to travel alone with relative safety. The Yectenua herd will always be his home and he spends plenty of time there with his family, but he loves taking trips each season to travel within Kawani. He lives with different herds along the way to experience and learn about their culture and dreams of compiling a cohesive record of every culture within Kawani. Azu is incredibly open to accepting differences in others and, like most of his family, chooses to measure a person's character based on their actions rather than their appearance. These qualities make him easily able to adapt and embrace new lifestyles temporarily and he uses these opportunities to act as a liaison and an ambassador on behalf of his own herd and to spread tolerance for those whose love doesn't necessarily comply with the 'norm.' Azu is an omnivore in that he can eat meat without getting sick, but as he doesn't require it in his diet to stay healthy and doesn't particularly enjoy hunting, he chooses to abstain. From time to time, if a hunter brings meat back to the herd to share, or if he is currently studying a meat eating herd, he will partake, but it isn't something he actively seeks out. Azubuike has a strong and steady spirit and a calming influence on those around him, he is rarely riled and often acts as a mediator to negotiate peace between members of his family, or members of other herds. He also possesses broad streak of stubborn perfectionism, courtesy of his birth mother's bloodline, when it comes to his studies. Once his interest has sharpened, he will pour all of his efforts into understanding a subject until he has exhausted all portals of learning. His tenacious enthusiasm is fueled by a reverence for life and a desire to learn the 'why' of the world, impressed on him by both Cuahcoatl's and Ikinya's strong influences. Azubuike savored the feel of the waves washing over his hooves as he plodded through the sand in companionable silence with his new friend. He closed his eyes and smiled as the cool sea breeze ruffled his mane and tail, carrying with it a salty tang that made him feel both relaxed and energized at the same time. His companion was another young colt, the son of one of the local herd alphas, who had been kind enough to show him around. So far, they had spent most of their free time exploring and getting to know each other better. Azubuike was fascinated to learn about how proximity to the sea affected the lifestyles of the herds in this area; from what they wore and ate, to how the spoke and what they believed. Each new revelation was food to fuel the fire of of his passion for understanding how others lived. Today, his friend had offered to take him to visit an old cave down by the sea, promising to show Azu the fossils of ancient sea creatures pressed into the stone walls. Azubuike was so excited he could barely keep from bouncing and had to prevent himself from urging his companion to hurry. The other colt had set an easy pace, and it was a beautiful morning for a casual stroll.
Azu felt closer to his new friend than he had ever felt to anyone outside of his own family. He was handsome, kind, and knowledgeable. They shared many of the same interests, and most importantly, they could spend hours in silent contemplation and friendly companionship without awkwardness. Azubuike wanted to share more of himself with this other foal, wanted to share his story and his dreams. He found himself missing the colt's company when he went to sleep, and woke up excited to spend the day with him. All of these were new and overwhelming emotions for young Azubuike and he was hesitant to admit this crush to anyone, but It was this that drove him to suddenly break the silence and broach the sensitive subject that was central to who he was.
"Have you heard much about the families visiting this area?" he ventured softly, "The angeni of learning and his mate, Ikinya?" He was hesitant. His family was one of a few that were spending some time with the herd, and while many of the native soquili were warm and welcoming, some made their displeasure with his family's lifestyle evident. Azubuike had previously assumed the other foal knew he was one of Cuahcoatl's brood and didn't care, but over time, Azu realized that he didn't resemble his siblings as much as they resembled each other and some misassumptions may have been made. He had noticed that the other colt seemed much colder in attitude when addressing his other siblings than when he spent time with Azu. He had met enough people who disapproved of the way his family lived that he wanted to use this opportunity to test the waters with his friend before admitting that he was a member of the Yectenua herd, and before admitting to the feelings swirling in his heart.
A sudden intake of breath, a tense silence, Azu's head swiveled and his heart began to pound, his friend's face was twisted into a mask of intolerant hatred. With a sinking feeling, Azu wanted to run or change the subject before the other colt had a chance to answer, he knew before the words even escaped his mouth what the other colt was about to say.
"Its unnatural," the colt spit out with a grimace, "I hate that they came here. If they want to be together... Fine I guess, but I don't see why they have to parade their relationship in front of everyone so publicly, why can't they just keep that stuff hidden in their own territory." the words exploded out of his mouth with such power and such passion that Azu had no doubt the foal had been looking to vent to someone about this for quite some time. Each hateful syllable struck young Azu with the force of a blow, and he winced with each, his young heart aching with the unfamiliar sensation of rejection and leaving him feeling vulnerable and shaky. A confusing swirl of emotions battered him; anger, on behalf of his parents and his herd. Fear, that if he spoke up this foal wouldn't want to be friends anymore or would attack him. Sadness, that his friend had been so corrupted by the prejudices of others, and overlaying all of that, a sick shame that he suddenly didn't want to admit association with his own family. Azubuike stared at that well loved face in shocked silence for a full minute before he could summon the words to put voice to his thoughts.
Azu knew that yelling at the other colt would only close his mind, his parents had taught him that. Physical violence would be unacceptable, although certainly satisfying. Prejudice was wrong, but so was laying a hand on another person for any reason other than to defend yourself. Azubuike was so tempted to gloss over the comment, to lie by omission, to pretend that the words had never escaped the other colt's lips, but faced with the choice, he was sure he couldn't live with himself if he hid behind a lie, even if it meant their relationship could remain whole for a while longer... That left only one option. Azu's eyes were brimming as he met the suspicious gaze of the other colt; "I'm so sorry you feel that way." he began in a shaky voice, trailing off into awkward silence as the other foal suddenly became aware that he was not about to support the hateful words. "I was raised to believe that love is love, regardless of shape, size, orientation. I was raised to live and let live, and to look at my fellow soquili with a clear mind and open heart. My parents are lovely people. They would do anything within their power to help another. I'm sorry you were raised to look at them through a veil of hate, that must be a lonely way to live...." Azu turned away and began walking back down the beach, part of his heart yearned back towards the fun they would have had exploring those caves. The time they would have spent enjoying the unfamiliar emotions developing between them over the rest of their trip, but Azubuike could not remain friends, or anything else with someone who rejected something good because of something so petty. There were better friends waiting out there.... Somewhere. Still, it would take some time before Azu would be able to summon the courage to open up about his family to someone special again, his heart needed time to heal from its' betrayal.
"Azu!" the other colt cried, tears in his voice. More than anything, Azubuike wanted to stop, to wait, to mend what had been broken, but the hate he had seen in his friend's eyes went too deep to be healed so quickly. It would take something life shaking to melt the ice around that heart, if it even could be, and Azubuike wasn't going to spend his vacation with someone who could accept only part of who he was. "Goodbye!" he called back, his voice firm and decisive. He was proud that his voice hadn't betrayed the turmoil within by shaking. "Goodbye" he whispered again to himself brokenly, surrendering to bitter tears as he broke into a run back towards where his family was staying. He wanted to feel the warm embrace and hear the sage advice of his parents on what had just transpired.
Played by: SwordOfTheDarkOnes Name: Kibwe Berhanu [ Swahilil – blessed / Amgaric - Light] Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Cisgender Orientation (optional): Pansexual, he'll value one's words and actions more than anything. RP examples (optional): To Find a Family Friend
About: Kibwe is a near silent foal, always watching always listening. He thinks over his words for long periods of time and usually notices that the chance to speak has passed so he remains silent. This makes others think he's anti-social when its just the opposite, he's overly considerate of others feelings. He will always pay attention to his brothers, even when they think he's not. He helps everyone he can in anyway he can. He adores his family in all their glory.
The name Berhanu is one he gained later as he got older. One of the familiars he grew up with as "cousin" called him by it. He's never going to let go of the name that family calls him. Its something precious. He was always the first one to notice things, due to his odd watching quirk. He liked to identify tracks of the different horses around as well as those of the familiars he lived with. He noticed little things in the way his family walked. Things he used to be considerate of them if they were in a down mood. As he gets older, though he will remain silent and watchful. Kibwe will develop a fondness for tracking and guiding. Acting in his mind, like a son of his Father. Helping others comes naturally to him.
Prompt Picked: Prompt 1: Often days are filled with lessons, chores, play, and family time; considering the amount of siblings and herd mates there is always plenty to do. As you and your siblings begin to grow into your independence and figure out your calling in life you are left with choices. Your two brothers have taken a field of research of their own, following in the hoof prints of your father, the Angeni of Knowledge. What are your interests, hobbies, curiosities? Do you also wish to follow the path of knowledge, or perhaps do you follow in a more simple role? There are plenty of professions in Yectenehua, from the leader and caretaker your mother is to entertainers, hunter gatherer's, and the sorts. Everyone has a dream!
Prompt Response
Listening was a simple task. Kibwe knew this. It was simple, pure and plain. He did it all the time, but it wasn't entirely was defined him. Listening and Watching. Those two things were key to many tasks he was given or aided with around the village. He adored all of his family, even down to the small furry ones. One of his favorite pastimes as a small foal was to sit and watch his furry family make tracks in the dirt. This was when his interest in observing tracks first came into being. He noticed things in the way his family walked, if they were upset it showed in their feet. If they were happy it showed...most of the extreme emotions were translated clearly in tracks. The minor ones took some observation of the being itself, but that was fine. Reading others like he read tracks and listening to others was something he liked.
He would think often, not wanting to further upset someone over a misunderstanding. This...sadly didn't always pan out, while his close family grew to understand he took his time replying. Others...were short with their patient. That was okay. He could learn to get over that. He really could. He liked being considerate...honestly. He loved listening to his brothers talk of their research. He learned from them, though he's realized that his own soul is centered around "research" its more intrusive than he would like. So, instead of researching the body language of others and reading into their emotions. He choose to instead read tracks, start being a Guide for others, perhaps if a foal gets lost he could help the parents track them.
About: Bright-eyed and endlessly enthusiastic, Matumaini takes after his birth mother and brims with optimism and affection. He believes there is goodness in every being (with the exception of skinwalkers), having grown up in an environment with so much love and acceptance. In this way, he can be considered naive. He forgives when perhaps he should not, and is willing to offer a second, third, or fourth chance to those who have wronged him. Still, the compassion of his family herd makes him think that love might be the strongest thing there is-- and Ikinya is all the proof he needs to further that belief.
Dampening his spirits is no easy task, for he always searches for the silver lining in any situation. He can be fiercely stubborn when he wants to be, especially when it comes to wanting to believe in the potential of every single being. Like his father, Matu will not be one to judge based on breed... and though I imagine he will be thoroughly warned about skinwalkers, he will still wonder if there isn't some way to at least reach out to those who have been cursed. I foresee this stubbornness getting him into trouble at times, especially if he attempts to speak to one of these cursed 'walkers in an attempt to reach out to any shred of goodness that might still be inside of them. It will be an attempt that will end badly for him (though not fatally so!).
Unlike his brothers, Matumaini will not have a 'focused' area of learning, and occasionally he wonders if it makes his father disappointed in him. If he does develop an interest in anything, I'd prefer to let it happen naturally through RP. Though omnivorous, he will attempt to stick to a mostly herbivorous diet if he can, as the thought of killing something makes him very queasy indeed.
Prompt Picked: 1!
Prompt Response
Life in the Yectenehua was prosperous for young foals, granting bountiful opportunities to learn, love, and play at leisure. As a colt, Matumaini had never given much thought to how he would be able to contribute to the herd, but the thought was beginning to weigh heavily on his mind as he and his siblings grew older and older.
His brothers seemed to each have a natural affinity for study and research, and Matu envied their ability to follow in their father's hoof prints when it came to knowledge. He himself had no specific subject that captivated his interest; not to the point of devoting his life to it,. He hadn't been able to slow down enough to think about his future-- really think about it anyway. Even now, he wriggled and darted between his herd mates and family, calling to each of them with a cheerful greeting that continued to deepen in timbre with each day he grew, or an affectionate, gentle nose to the shoulder.
In the distance, he spotted his mother assisting an uneasy newcomer, their dark eyes rolling this way and that as they tried to take in everything at once. Matu wished the new mare would not look so afraid. She was among friends here! Though too far away to hear what Ikinya was saying, his pace slowed as he watched the wary mare slowly begin to listen to his mother, tension fading only to be replaced by weariness. A spark of hope replaced the haunted look in her eyes, and soon, she matched Ikinya's warm smile with a wavering one of her own.
How easily his mother seemed to exude warmth and trust! Her love had no bounds or limits, and she very much was the foundation to this entire herd. The Alpha led the newcomer off to a place where she could rest, and Matumaini resisted the urge to chase after. In that moment, everything seemed so simple. He did not need to follow in the footsteps of his father, at least right not now! Perhaps he would find something he wished to study later--but for now, could he not serve as an ambassador or caretaker? He could spread the word of their sanctuary, and tend for those who needed it!
With a broad grin and his head held high, Matumaini vowed to find his mother when she was less busy. He would speak of his heart's desires and ask for her advice, but Matu's mind was already made up. What better way to aid the herd than this?
He darted back into the herd, his sonorous tones filled with glee as he continued his greetings on the way to his chores. There was much to be done today!

Unlike his brothers, Moonstone is herbivorous. He dislikes the idea of eating meat, though he understands the need for it by some of his herdmates. It simply does not fit in his dietary requirements.
Others might contribute Moonstone’s oddities to his biomother’s heritage. Moonstone himself is uncertain as to whether this could be true, but he often wonders what sort of bloodline he comes from. His snow-white pelt is a constant source of consternation for him since he seems to be the only one not darkened. His feelings for his pelt are deeply intertwined with his love of the stars. Moonstone lay at edge of the river’s banks, the moon glistening high above him. A chill filled the night air which signaled the winter soon to come. “What should I do?” He found himself asking the large silver sphere above. “I am not like my brothers. My thirst for knowledge is not as theirs are.” There was a pause as Moonstone waited for an answer he knew would never come. With a heavy sigh, he lowered his head to stare out over the water. If only he could have been more like his brothers and father. Their thirst for knowledge knew no bounds. By all rights, he should have inherited such lust or, at the very least, the ability to lead and comfort as his mother. And yet… “Is there anything I’m suited for? Am I destined to remain the oddity in my family?” He held out his left hoof to find a white pelt greeted his gaze. Can I handle being the only one to have this as well as no path in life?
A gentle breeze blew through the nearby trees, their rustling like a distant lullaby. “Perhaps you place too much pressure on yourself.” A faint voice whispered through the trees. Moonstone jumped at the sound and quickly looked around. There was no one to be seen. “Who-who’s there?”“The path of life is full of twists and turns, to be certain.” The mysterious voice continued on. “We can either choose to stay still and let these coils confound us, or we can walk the path with grace.” The young foal frowned at these words as he stamped his hoof. “But how am I to navigate such a path with grace if I cannot determine even the simplest of things? The only interest I possess is that of the heavens, and even that is something I do not wish to study formally.”“And yet you study them routinely do you not?” Moonstone gave a small nod. “I suppose…”“And you know the stories of their creation by heart, yes?” Again, he gestured in the affirmative. “Then you have the beginning of you answer, little one. All you need remember is this- knowledge comes in many different forms. Simply because you perceive something to be one way, does not mean that is the only way.”
As the breeze faded away, so too did the voice that had spoken to Moonstone. “So there is still hope for me then?” There was no response to his question, though he did not expect there to be. Nonetheless, the young foal felt better about where his journey through life would take him. He felt more prepared for it than ever. But who had been the one speaking? That would forever remain a mystery to him. None of his herdmates frequented his lonesome spot, nor did an exhaustive search turned up anything. The comforting light of the moon shimmered across the surface of the river, catching his attention. Moonstone looked up at the largest of the night stars, brows furrowing curiously. “Perhaps my brothers are right. Maybe there are such things as spirits…”

Older examples are pre-2010 and can be found at our teepee. [ Demon & Happiness ] [ Invictus & Pele ] [ Winter Nights ] About: Mwezi looks out at the world with a sense of awe in everything that happens or can happen. Even as a foal, he could spend hours the clouds, the stream, the leaves rustling in the wind. Listening to his father’s research—and later his brothers--always left him with a sense of wonderment on how amazing the world could be. His attention in his youth was always scattered, his interest hopping from one topic to another, all of which he viewed with an equal sense of awe. Life was so amazing, he always thought, for everything to fall in line so perfectly for me to exist here and now on this very earth.
As a young adult while visiting a nearby tribe, he by chance witnessed a mare giving birth. For days after he could not shake the image from his mind, could not shake how amazing and exhilarating his felt to see life be born, to be able to see life emerge into this amazing new world. It’s difficult for him at first, but he trains hard to be a midwife, and as he learns more he falls even more in love with being a midwife. He finds that, while he does love foals, he loves being able to help mares and families even more. He is constantly amazed and humbled by the trust these families place in him.
As an adult, he spends his time traveling from herd to herd. In addition to assisting in births, he spends much of his time providing assistance to mares—both those who are pregnant and those who wish to be—with medical and spiritual advice. He still finds wonder in everything and has a habit of staying up late at night to watch the stars that make him feel so small yet so great at the same time.

Mwezi trotted through the trees in search of his new friend, an extra pip in his step in excitement in anticipation of having another playmate. He loved it when his family traveled, it was always so interesting to see new places and new things. It always struck him as wonderful on how different each tribe was from each other, how different their looked and acted when they were bought a few days walk from another. He had met his new friend on his first day, having taken off to explore on his own soon after their arrival. He didn’t make friends easily at home where, despite how much he knew it did not matter, he was still conscientious of his snow-white coat.
Turning a corner around a builder, his eyes lit up as he caught sight of his new friend. He trotted quickly, hollering out a greeting. His new friend Neipa, who stood a hand shorter than Mwezi and sported a coat that glistened in attractive shades of blue, smiled back, bumping her shoulder against Mwezi’s in a return greeting.
“Thought I’d have to wait forever for you to show up,” Neipa said, with a playful smile and a flick of his tail.
Mwezi ducked his head, abashed. “My apologies,” he replied, “The village was quite crowded today, so it took longer than I thought to get through!”
Neipa snorted and rolled her eyes. “Yeah, everyone has come out to try and catch a glimpse of those freaks. But come on, let’s go walk by the river today. I heard a rumor that some otters might be coming by and we might be able to catch a glimpse of them if we hurry.” She tilted his head in the direction of the river, already starting to pick her way through the trees.
Mwezi shot Neipa a confused look, following after her instinctively at the instruction. “Freaks?”
Neipa turned her back to catch Mwezi’s eye and gave a careless shrug as she continued walking. “You know, that Angeni and little runt that follows after him. Lovemates and all that unnatural talk.”
Mwezi froze in his step at her words. “I don’t understand,” he said, bewildered.
Neipa stopped too, turning herself around to face him, her eyebrows raised almost condescendingly as she answered. “What’s not to understand? And Angeni taking up with an Usdia? It’s just not right, you know?” She shook her head, shaking her mane into disarray. “It is just weird.”
“That’s,” Mwezi started, before pausing. He didn’t know how he felt about this. It had never seemed off to him, though he knew his mother’s small stature next to his father’s was not common. Seeing them together, all he could think about was how his mother’s smile would light up when his father was around. Or how his father would always bend down to give his mother a welcoming nuzzle, how he’d fold his wings over his in the rain. He looked at the two of them and always just saw how much they loved one another and how lucky he was that they loved him. For someone to look at them and to see, to see freaks—that made him feel so, so—
“Sad,” he finally said, closing his eyes for a second before meeting those of Neipa. “That’s sad that all you see when you look at them an Angeni and an Usdia.”
“What else am I supposed to see?” Neipa replied, her voice rising, tinged with an edge of confrontation. “That’s what they are.”
Mwezi responded with a subdued and forlorned smile. “Yeah, it is,” he said with a shake of his head. “But that’s not all they are. Yes, they are an Angeni and an Usdia in a relationship. But they are also two souls who found each other in this big, big world and who love each other more than anything.”
“And that,” he said pausing to look her in the eye, “is one of the most amazing things in this world. And I just think it’s sad that you can’t see that too.”

Played by: musicaloner7 Name: Chalcedony, usually goes by Chalc pronounced Sh-al-sss {after the gemstone, which can come in white and blue } Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Male Orientation (optional): homosexual RP examples(optional): guild rp is never a good example of my ability, as 99% of my rp is done via IMs. buuuut: - [ + ] - [ + ] - [ + ] - [ + ] - [ + ] - [ + ] - [ + ] - [ + ] - [ + ] -
About: Upon first encounter of Chalc, many would peg him as a nervous and anxious sort of energy. Not only that but he has tendencies of timidity, which are usually trigged by specific things. Most would be out of simple admiration of another who is clearly enhanced in some way or another. { a very strong warrior, a highly intelligent being, someone with an intimidating presence/aura, a very aesthetically beautiful individual, someone very towering, etc. } Other times it can be simply because he is flustered for some reason or another that he himself cannot put a hoof on properly. It's times like those that he will find himself in a very perplexed state, tripping over his words more, and getting tongue-tied up... maybe even randomly dove-tailing onto other topics that may be unrelated entirely, but somehow touched on because of a common word! ....often leading him to growing more and more embarrassed.
Like his father, he values knowledge greatly. Blessed with a great deal of intelligence, he has a very active mind, as well. All the time it's whirling with ideas, questions, theories, and debates, as if a vast labyrinth with numerous voices giving their say. It's not uncommon for him to seem as though he's daydreaming, or zoning off, as he becomes absorbed in something that's hot on his mind. It often will leave him completely oblivious to his surroundings too! Some might find him rude when he drifts off into his "mind castle", in which he will profusely apologize for his getting distracted. A lot of times he can be VERY oblivious to most social normalities, such as flirting, joking at times, or figures of speech. But he does his best to get a better grasp on such things, and will often try to spot them out the next time it happens! Whether or not he fully understands such concepts... is either hit or miss. Sometimes the theories he learns are difficult for him to put into practice. He is a little stunted and un-atune to his own personal emotions, which is a great contributor to a lot of his ruffled instances.
Chalc is one who is very much capable of admiring others, and being starstruck by the gifts or achievements they have. It's very common of him to look up to others who excel--especially in areas he lacks-- and sort of idolize them in a way. He may even follow them around to observe, and gather as much information, verbally or non, as possible! to some, this can be rather annoying. Understandably so.
There are many times he will have spells of loneliness. It is not brought on by the lack of company around him, as he is surrounded by loving herdmates and family, but for the lack of...something he is unable to figure out. There is a sense of longing which he's not been able to quite yet understand yet, that leaves him in these periods of a mild depression. In the usual case he will just be more quiet than usual, and prefer to keep in the background than interact. But it is something he will be greatly pursuing, and more than likely asking his folks about when he gets older and the courage to. { this will more than likely simply be the lack of a strong bond/companionship something like the lack of a true best friend/soul mate of some kind. }
Interested in so many things in life, his studies will be broad, but a possibility of focusing on more specific topics is very likely once he gets out more. But for the time being he wants to know all he can! he's a sponge just yearning to absorb as much information possible. It is the determination that his mother {Ikinya} possess that has rubbed off on him a great deal, which fuels him to pursue what his mind desires.
Little tid bits: - Will be an omnivore to an extent. He will find a great like for fish, meat wise, but not care much for any other kind. - Very open minded, but also with his own ideals and morals. He won't ever push them on others, or judge others for having different outlooks. - Loves a good debate! or any sort of encounter that can lead him to better understanding the other points of view. - Soft-spoken, and when ruffled tends to get quieter, and talk faster. - Has some insecurities about him, but nothing severe. He just feels inadequate in some points. - While he is a nervous, anxious, and timid sort, that doesn't mean he isn't fearless. For the sake of knowledge he will go head first into situations that have a chance to pose a danger. Learning hooves-on is important, after all! theories and calculation don't always tell all. - So far thinking he'll probably pursue focusing more on the sciences, Soquili nature, and culture. Still debating. Rp will better solidify that, especially of him traveling. - Adores his family, and does what ever he can to make them proud. - It's usually impossible for him to conceal his feelings, as his face is a tell-all for how he feels. Aka. his face will always give him away. It's quite expressive... as is the majority of his body language.

{did a bit of a pre-visit inclusion, mostly for my own sake. Hope that's ok. 8s;;; }
The announcement of their travels went hardly unnoticed by the little foal, whose excitement was practically palpable by the body langue he proceeded to express. Tail flicking, twitching, and dancing with glee, to the little dance that was possessing his small hooves, Chalc was absolutely thrilled to be going on the declared trip! The possibilities of what would be seen, heard, smelled, experienced all whisked about in his head, only aiding in causing him to fall into stupors within his busy mind. Sleep was near impossible to achieve given the following days, with how much the colt was looking forward to the outing with his family.
But soon enough the much anticipated day arrived! preparing with the rest of the group, he chose to simply bring one of his little satchels that would often contain objects of interest, with him. Who knew if he might come across a little trinket or token to commemorate the trip. And perhaps something to study once he got back home! Slipping the cloth pack onto his neck, and wiggling it to rest comfortably against his chest, the eager foal pranced off to join with the others who had congregated at the edge of the family territory. He gave his usual little scribble of a smile, that was a mixture of nerves, and delight, to his kin that were there, perking up when the declaration of their departure from father was aired. This was it... his first big venture out from the safety of his home! so many sensations shot through his tiny body, making him practically tremble under his pale pelt, his legs even stiffening in response to the anxiety and nevousness that began to creep through them. But with an encouraging nudge from his mother, Chalc was on his way with the others.
For the most part, Chalc was speechless in what he saw along the way. Attentive little eyes didn't cease to flicker about, gathering everything that they came across, not letting a single thing escape their field of vision. Soft little murmurs of awe would sometimes trickle from the starstruck foals lips, and his gait would slacken in order to admire the trees, creatures, flora, and structures that they would pass by. The combinations of them all were amazing! There were even notable different scents laced in the air, that would tug his head this way and that to attempt at seeking out the source. So many of the birds had differing songs and cries from the ones back home, paired with a vast array of colourations and shapes! Every once in awhile someone in the party would have to lightly nudge or call to the elated foal to pull him from his daze so as not to get too far behind. But thankfully enough there were plenty of stops made so that he could take the time to appreciate and explore what piqued his interest.
The group was slowly encroaching upon their destination, to which his father revealed to him eventually that it was to visit another herd that had been a detour on the migration from the old territory to the new. They were a hardy sort, composed primarily of war and draft horses, who were well skilled in battle, armory, and were very robust with pride. By the sounds of it they were a very different kind from what Chalc was used to... which only amplified his interest. And soon enough, they reached the herd, nestled half within a forest, and extended into a large field that was altered for farming, and tamped down for sparring and practice. All around massive Soquili thrived, the sounds of heavy muscle slamming into one another echoing thickly as the powerful breeds exercised their fighting abilities in the designated areas. When their own little traveling party arrived, they were greeted warmly by a towering mare who was littered with scars, but had a beauty about her that was unlike any Chalc had seen....
For a month they had been there, now, learning the ways of the herd, and falling into a groove that was align to the traditions and routines there. The horses were very open to the curiosity that Chalc expressed with their trades, and traditions, more than willing to show and explain to him all the plethora of questions he spilled. Nearly the entire time his eyes were glittering with interest, while his body fought with itself to hide bashfully behind his parents, and wanting to venture out further from their range. He was so overwhelmed by the magnificent, raw, physical power the townsfolk possessed, that he felt a respectful intimidation by it. No where was he near such peak conditions, nor did he know a thing about fighting! but he wanted to learn, to see how one gained such knowledge and instinct, able to read an opponent and counter or block a move... even retaliate in turn! it was almost like a dance, the way they moved, but more aggressive, and firm, with surprises abound! It wasn't always size, he learned, that would equate who would be victorious in a duel. No, there were far more factors that played far more important roles. It was a game of mind, and body... how thrilling!
During the visit, he had managed to find a slow growing comfort in a particular member of the foreign herd. It was an older stallion, Gregor, thick with musculature that bulged, and had similarities to carved marble. He specialized in smithing, working with metals, and creating both weaponry and armor with it all in the mighty hearth he manned. Often times Chalc would watch him from afar, in a trance from the amazing transformation of the raw materials to useable objects. From the melting, melding, and hammering... it was a craft to he applauded! The older gent noticed him, however, and started inviting the curious foal over with an amused chuckle at the obvious hesitance that were seen in the stuttering legs that would approach the smithy. But the charge had a deep, strong voice that was soothing to the colt, who began to grow more at ease around him, eyes constantly watching the hardwork performed before him.
For a long time they would simply accept one anothers presence in silence, Chalc starting to voice his questions after a good many visits were conducted. And they would be answered. He was also told of many tales of battles, wars, and duels that the older male had undergone, ones that sounded like stories from fiction! It was on one particular visit, in which the topic of angeni's had been broached, that the offspring decided to pose a more direct question to his newfound companion.
"G-gregor... do.... you know many angeni..?" he slowly asked, eyes trailing down to the piece of metal that was being turned by the warhorses snout to be fully inspected.
The adult snorted, heavy brows furrowing lightly,
"A few, yeah." it was his usual short reply, nothing more nothing less.
A little fidgeting was done on Chalc's part, his hooves scraping at the ground as he stared down at them,
"What...what do you think of the... Angeni of Learning? he and his... family have come to visit, here.." he followed with, gaze flickering up for a second, his lips pressing rather tightly together with nervousness.
There was pause in the inspection of the metal that was being worked, the seasoned warrior looking up to the foal. Another firm, but more sharper, snort was given, followed by a creasing of wrinkles along his large face, "Can't say I agree with his way of life..." he muttered with a hint of bitterness to his once comforting tone.
Ears pinning back, Chalc's reaction--as usual--was written all over his face. Agree with his way of life...? confusion was what hit him first. What did that mean...? but it was as if Gregor could hear what was inside that little head already, and answered after a pause,
"Being with an Usdia like that..." another exhale of disapproval was made, "It's not right. Not natural." a gaze was cast the way of the individuals in question, a mixture of distaste and ignorance in his eyes.
Chalc's own orbs widened with surprise, ears pricking right up, along with his head lifting. He stared at Gregor, head starting to give a faint tilt, as he sorted his thoughts that were whirring in his mind now. Not natural? Not right...? Slowly, he peeked back to his parents for himself, to try and see what this other stallion did. But he couldn't. All he saw was the love and warmth that emanated from them, feeling himself starting to drift into the world of distraction as he looked on. Shaking his head to snap himself out of it, his attention returned to Gregor,
"But... what's not right, or unnatural about it? It's two Soquili in love. And love is said to be the most natural, and right things in this world." he replied, in a surprisingly even tone. It was learning mode time. What was so wrong that made Gregor so disgusted?
At first the veteran was startled by the boys remark, blinking at him with disbelief, before chuckling and snickering in a grated low roll. Shaking his head, he cast a sparing glance to the couple again, before lowering his head closer to the foal before him, "You're supposed t'a be with ones your own size." he clarified, feeling quite sure of himself.
But Chalc wasn't convinced, nor deterred. "Love has no supporting definition of what is considered natural or not. It makes no statement of size, either. It is the bond of two who share an innate connection, deeper than can be physically measured or verbally fully explained." his squiggle of a smile returned, "but it is also unconstrained, or controllable, meaning there is no actual 'right' or 'wrong' to it. It's an entity of its very own, that doesn't conform.'to any sort of rules, or laws..." he paused, "or even the social construct of the term 'normal'."
Gregor stared on at the child, who was all smiles and budding happiness, speechless, unable to respond.
With a few flicks of his tail to release some of his delight in the discussion, he began to turn on his heels, "you should try talking to them, Gregor. I think you'll like them." and with that, trotted on his way to join the topic of their discussion.

He'll develop a great intellect as time goes on, but that'll take time and patience.
That said, Sodalite's great passion is the skies and the weather. The movements of the stars, the cycles of the moon, and the subtle patterns of cloud and air that signify changes in the weather. Like him, it takes patience and observation, but once one's mind is opened up to how it works, the subject becomes an open book full of wonders. Sodalite likes riding the storms, but he also knows the value of a sunny day and the direction of the breeze. And like the weather changes, so can hearts and minds, with that same patience and understanding.
It's just going to be a slow and difficult process in the meantime.

Sodalite stumbled through the snow drifts after Sapphire. This bit Johari hadn't mentioned. Or maybe he had, and he'd missed it. Whoops, if he had missed it.
Still, Sodalite was still curious about Sapphire's family. Especially since he was getting to meet them. Subira and Zyanya didn't talk much about their real mother to him. That didn't seem right. More parents meant more love, right? With Sodalite, Azurite and Johari having three parents around, even if one wasn't biologically theirs and another had trouble interacting with them, the three colts still felt a lot of love, and that made Sodalite a happy colt. Sure, Sapphire wasn't around much, had trouble doing so, but Sodalite still loved spending time with all three of his parents. Admittedly, having her own problems did make Sodalite feel a little closer to her, even if Sodalite was only having trouble keeping up with the lessons Azurite and Johari were excelling at.
Sodalite hurried to catch up to Sapphire, not wanting to fall behind on this momentous day.
But Sapphire had told them recently that she had other family outside the herd, and that she wanted to introduce the colts to the rest of her family. She had said something about being a bit...off...but if that was anything like Sapphire's issues, Sodalite was sure he'd love them, anyway. More family meant more love, right? That was always a good thing. Even if Sodalite wasn't as smart as his siblings, he could still enjoy family time with everyone else.
Sodalite smiled happily, hopefully. Sapphire had been excited about the prospect, and Cuauhcoatl and Ikinya had been fine with it. Nothing to worry about, right?
Getting the hang of the snow better, he hurried after his real mother, moving to a half-swimming trot as he almost melted into the landscape.
Ica is a bright young soul whose profound knowledge is not necessarily garnered by study, but rather by an open heart and highly reflective tendencies. The young colt is quickly found to be an old soul in a young body, judging by his mental and emotional intelligence's growth in relation to his actual age.
Empathic and highly intuitive as a result, he finds comfort in nature. Prolonged time in large groups can be unsettling for him, as waves of emotional energy are easily picked up and felt as his own. This may or may not result in some anxiety and anxious tendencies, or it may not, depending on who can or is able to help him.
His body craves more sustenance over and above delicious sweet grass (and other such leafy greens and fruits), but, being highly empathic doesn't lend itself well to nourishing himself through the demise of another.
No trace of the curse from his mother's side of the family seems to have afflicted him. However, his high levels of empathy may cause problems in the future if he's not given enough space to himself to read or be alone in nature, as he has a tendency to pick up vibrations and energy and it can (temporarily, provided he's not bound to the one having that effect on him) change his own mannerisms to reflect those he surrounds himself with—this is especially true as a young colt and adolescent, but seems to be lessened as he becomes more aware.
(More TBD! But that's the base!)
Prompt Picked: TWO!
Prompt Response *assuming one set of wings by parents' genes, I know there's no guarantee of it!
"I don't wanna go..." Ihuicatl groused to himself, hidden away in "his" grotto—it was a grotto he had found, all on his own, and one of the places he felt most at home in. Of course, he hadn't found it on his own, nor was it an impressively secret location. His little hoof scraped against the ground, sheering off blades of grass and tiny lumps of sod.
He blinked after a moment, realizing what he was doing. Aghast, he nosed the earth back in to place and started to pace. He was, understandably, nervous about going away to meet his biological mother's family. But his ire grew, as did his agitation, and he flopped to the ground with a huff and a whine and a flurry of feathers*. "Why can't mom stay more often? I don't wanna leave home. I don't wanna leave mommy and dad. This is dumb!"
Ihuicatl's ears flickered and pricked at a close set of hoofsteps coming through the grass. His head shot up and he looked at his mom in shock, his mind suddenly spinning in a tilt-a-whirl of both panicked and indignant thoughts! With eyes wide he watched her, practically able to see the invisible waves of what she was feeling rolling off her in waves. His eyes took in her stance and the carriage of her head and his subconscious processed it before he knew what was going on, but he still felt it.
And in feeling it, felt shameful.
"M-Mom-m I— I—" She had probably heard everything! All his whining from before! "I'm sorry I don't wanna go!"
How would his family he never even met react when they were told that the one who shared their snowy pelt didn't want to see them, for no other reason than obstinate fear and selfishly not wanting to leave his home to go on an adventure with his beloved mother when he felt he didn't get enough time with her as it was? How disappointed Sapphire must be! He scrambled to his hooves and rushed to her, suddenly anxious and afraid she would somehow scorn him, for he had essentially scorned her. He rubbed against her with a tiny, hiccuped sob and tried his best to show her he loved her a lot.
"I'm scared, d-don't go, plea-ease–!" He looked up at her, eyes wide and pleading. "I didn't mean I don't wann' m-meet them, honest! But I d-d-don't wanna leave mommy and dad and Johari and Azurite and everybody, either-r!"
He was comforted as she bent her neck to blow a soft breath of warmth into his name, the couple years of distress leaking from his eyes stopping with the gesture. She murmured something about staying just a short while longer and it started to turn his soured mood around, further. He cuddled in, tail flicking, and nuzzled against her side with a great sigh of relief!
"Okay. Okay." A deep breath in! "...that sounds fair."
He nodded, falling silent and reflective. She could have just left him behind and taken his other sibling. She could have dragged him off like the brat he had been being. Instead she showed love and kindness, understanding and compromise.
He really did have the best family, and he was so, so grateful for them.

Played by: Devil NightShade Name: Tlazohtlaloni : Nahuatl name meaning "one who is loved." Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Male Orientation (optional): Undecided RP examples (optional):xXx , xXx - I have lots mroe in my teepee, these are just two of the most recent. About: As a foal Tlazohtlaloni is carefree and spirited, he throws himself excitedly into his studies, but he’s extremely fascinated by emotions. If the rambunctious colt isn’t playing with his siblings, or training, his nose almost always seems to be shoved into one of his father’s books on psychology or emotion. Unlike his brother Azurite though his focus is mainly on pure emotion and helping others come to grips with them. Yet, he can’t seem to communicate his own feelings at all, he bottles his feelings and emotions up, not yet having found one he can open up too.
As he ages ‘Tlaloni becomes a gentle giant, he doesn’t stand quiet as tall as his father but he seems to make up for that in his sheer size of muscle where he is trained in combat to protect his family from any and all dangers. Even so, his fascination as a young one with the ails of the mind has led him to being sensitive to another’s emotions, his is a staunch protector of the weak, broken, and lonely. Anyone and anything he comes across that needs a helping hoof or a shoulder to lean on, he is there to lend them support.
Prompt Picked: 2
Quote:
‘Prompt 2: Unlike the darker colors of your siblings, your pelt is white as snow. This, you have later found out comes from previous generations of your biomother's family, a rather prominent gene. To give you and your brothers some one on one time with each parental figure, Sapphire has come to take you back to her family's homelands for the first time; as she had done with one of your brothers prior. Knowing about the darkness of the family, are you scared to go? Curious to see the origin of your striking white pelt, or are you really excited? How do you feel about your Biomother, especially being a bit of an absent figure in your life; leaving nearly most of the raising and care in the capable hooves of Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl? Sapphire tries to be present when she can, but still struggling with her own problems she is unable to truly care for your or your brothers for any extended time without plenty of help. While it has always been explained that you were a precious gift to Cuauh and Ikinya, and that your sisters Subira and Zyanya were conceived in similar means; their mother is no longer part of the picture as Sapphire is. Or, do you wish you didn't have to go at all?’
Prompt Response
Tlazohtlaloni stood waiting, a heavy sack slung across his wide back. He stood out against the browning landscape, brilliant and pure white. An oddity, even in his gloriously odd family. It nattered not to him that he took after a family unknown, this was his family the only family he knew. Yet, his biological mother was coming, to take him to meet those others. His heart was thumping, nervous for the rumors of darkness, yet joyful to be in the presence of the unknown.
It was a cool morning, when Sapphire had appeared over the horizon as the sun peeked over the trees, it’s first glorious rays bathing the land in splendor.
‘Taloni wasn’t yet grown into adult hood, though one might not have known that. His size was already showing, he was tall for one so young, and his muscles were already developing well due to the training regimen he had chosen to follow. Come to think of it he wanted to train a little more... it annoyed him only slightly, he wanted to do more! But no, his mom Ikinya had told him he should be a foal because these years were all to fleeting.
A sigh escaped him, she was right he knew that but …
A soft muzzle touched his cheek and he was snapped the colt from his inner conversation back to reality. Before him stood Sapphire a soft smile on her muzzle.
The softly asked ‘are you ready to leave?’ brought down the crash of ice cold reality. A mute nod was all the answer given and after saying goodbyes to his family they set off.
‘Taloni trailed slightly behind the deep ebony mare, his eyes were always watching, and yet it was a chance for him to think again. He had never faulted Sapphire for not being in his life from the start, his mother was a wonderful kind gentle soul and he would not have traded her for the world, and yet part of him wished the other mare had been there more. Something in the back of his mind whispered that he needed her affection too, he pushed it away, what a silly notion. She showed her affection when she was around! Right?
Fear was rising up again unwelcome and un wanted, he tried to force it away ... but wasn’t sure he could handle this. These soquili were strangers, what if they wanted to hurt him? What if they hated him?
For a long time he just watched Sapphire and robotic-ally put one hoof in front of the other. They were both silent lost in their own thoughts. It was starting to weigh heavily on his mind, when with glorious relief the smaller mare spoke up, asking him about what had gone on since she had last seen them.
‘Taloni lengthened his stride so that they walked side by side once more, his words were quiet and picked carefully. But the talking was easing the forbidding and the tiny voice in the back of his mind was quiet now.
The trip would be easy for sure if he just kept them both quietly engaging one another, his mind made up, ‘Taloni answered all of her questions ... and even had a few of his own about the family he was destined soon to meet.
VOIDED ENTRY:: Because Marzi doesn't know how to do timezones. ;~; Played by: Marzipanz Name: Xipilli - Origin: Nahuatl (Aztec) - Meaning: Jeweled Prince Biosex: Male Gender (optional): Male Orientation (optional): Pansexual RP examples (optional):[X] About:
Xipilli has always been an aimless spirit. While his brother's had found their calling Xi struggles with making decisions on what he wants to study and specialize himself in. He feels that picking just one topic is a life sentence in a prison he wont be able to escape. Some see him as indecisive but truly it is only a matter of him over analyzing things. Much like he does with his father, Cuauhcoatl.
The gentle leader of the Yectenehua herd is loved by everyone, or so Xipilli had assumed while growing up in his large family. However, the feeling of adoration couldn't be said for Xi. Whilst a young foal he was eager to learn, quick to ask questions and explore the many curiosities of the world. His favorite pass time would be travel to his father's place of study up in the northwestern mountains from their home. Learning the lay of the land as well as flight were truly the highlights of his childhood for his wings could take him places much faster than his hooves.
It wasn't until Xi began to notice his father's absence that his curious mind set him on a new study. Where was Cuauhcoatl venturing off to and what was it that he was interested in personally. He would ask around the herd about his father almost constantly and ultimately once he learned of what his father was captivated by it sparked his first fit of over analyzing. His father wanted to know the secrets of generational change and mutation. The creation of new breeds. Is that why his family was such a mixing pot of different species? Were they all just one big experiment? It began to worry Xipilli immediately.
Prompt Picked: #2
Prompt Response
When Xipilli first heard about visiting his biological mother's family he was a bit skeptical as to how safe he would actually be. Due to his mother's absence and her appearance, he had become quite weary of her. He would much rather by cuddled up to his mama Ikinya. At least she was there for him throughout his youth. Sure, he understood that she had her own troubles and family to worry about but he was apart of her whether she liked it or not. He thought it was irresponsible of her to wander off seemingly without a care of how him and his brother's were brought up.
His brother had ventured off with her before he had and returned with a better understanding of Sapphire and where she came from. Where he himself came from, actually. When Xi would look into the reflection of the bay he would see differences in himself. A pure bland brightness that none of his family seemed to carry on their pelt. If not for family's sake the boy joined his bio-mother for this journey for his love of traveling and his thirst for knowledge.
Perhaps his coat was a victory in his father's eyes. The success of bringing out a recessive trait in his lineage must have been quite an accomplishment in his eyes. At least that is what Xipilli bitterly assumed based off his assumptions and never actually going to his father about his concerns. In a way Xi was somewhat greedy with his thoughts. Never openly dishing out his opinions. Facts were his friends, not emotional turmoil.
Perhaps upon meeting Sapphire's family would bring new discoveries about himself. Things to learn and research in his family line. The good and the bad. Perhaps he could finally understand why he looked and acted the way he did based on his interactions with the others. Real hands on research. So there he strolled along, following behind the darkly colored mare. Practically his opposite and full of contrast, but it was from her where he received his snowy pelt. Perhaps in that moment he found himself understanding why his father had such a thirst for the things he studied. That didn't mean Xi agreed with how he thought the Angeni went about practicing and researching it though. Perhaps one day he would confront his father. Perhaps console in his mother. Who knows how his feelings would unfold but one thing was for certain. Xipilli couldn't keep his concerns and bitterness bottled up forever.

Still waiting on getting a hold of Tirokio to finish judging! However there is a little thing I'd like to mention as I chuckle at it a third time while rereading all the submissions. It will NOT effect your entries and even if you got this bit wrong it won't count against your submission.
Actually I think I'll have Cuauhcoatl inform you since it's in his Domain to do so. Cuauhcoatl steps forward in front of the waiting crowd of Spirit Muses waiting eagerly to know which one of them gets to guide the third basket's life. He wasn't used to speaking to the alternate reality not reachable by anyone unless taken to their 'non-canon' universe that was that of the 'owners' as the spirits called themselves gathered together in. Clearing his throat, he leaned forward as instructed toward a strange cone shaped device ending in some sort of ball that would amplify his voice for the crowd, "G-Good Evening... I've been asked to c-come here to help clear up a touch of confusion."
Swallowing he paused, looking at the strange muse spirit that apparently watched him and his family as well as many other soquili and familiars that called herself Mindsend.. Is it Minds End or Mind Send or just one word... He wondered, only to get a voice in his head reply yes as the spirit, currently dressed up like a tiny humanoid ulun'suti in a dress smiled mischievously back at him, not really answering the question but instead implying that, perhaps, it was all three.
Turning back toward the audience he laughed nervously, smiling a bit as he continued, "I d-don't wish to be rude, b-but I felt it was vital to, ah, correct a misunderstanding, b-but the Angeni of kn-knowledge is my brother, Xocoyolcoatl.... O-or he would be th-the angeni of Knowledge if he t-took a m-mortal form as I did..."
Mindsend snort and nudges another spirit that went by the name Uta, grinning toothily -- the two brothers hadn't found each other yet, and Cuauhcoatl had been the first to leave, so was the least informed of what his family was doing.
Furrowing his brow in confusion, the angeni spread his wings a little as he continued, not letting them interrupt him, "I meanwhile h-happen to be the Angeni of Learning." He closed his eyes, smiling sweetly at everyone before him "A c-c-common mistake, they're very similar d-domains in concept, and the write up M-Mindsend made mentions Knowledge repeatedly since I have l-learned much and can help other learn, so have developed a great span of kn-knowledge through hard work and, experi... Expe.. ah...." He swallowed again, searching for a different word to use, "And D-determination."
He stood there for a few seconds before he shuffled his hooves, unused to public speaking beyond his classes as a teacher where he's more at ease and in his element. Clearing his throat, he leaned back into the mike, "Th-th-thank you f-for your t-time...."
Cuauhcoatl then vanishes in a puff of smoke back to his realm, with no loss of time or memory of what had transpired in "Canon" universe.
Edit from mind: TURNS OUT Tiro wrote "Angeni of Knowledge" In one of my prompts without my notice!
Tiro and I finally got together and managed to Narrow the list of twelve down to four... However we found ourselves unable to narrow it down any further manually.
And thus we have decided to let Gaia choose the finalist for the actual breeding basket (though we do have something planned for the twelve we got it down to originally so keep your eyes peeled!)
