 Ever since having her first two foals, Dark Side wanted their little family to grow even more. She had never felt so much joy as she did when caring for her children. And knowing that she had the most wonderful mate a mare could ever ask for! But both her children were adults and Vermillion was hardly ever around. Not that this bothered Sidi very much. Her daughter had found a wonderful mare she considered her most dearest friend. Though Sidi suspected there might be more growing between them.
It just so happened, that on one of her trips to visit her daughter and Arcadia, Sidi discovered something very special.
The purple mare glanced down at the foal she laid a gentle wing against. "She should be here soon, Gyatso. Are you ready to meet her?" Sidi asked softly, giving him an affectionate nuzzle.
She couldn't help the sweet smile that graced her features. She'd found his basket, alone in the woods. No parents in sight. It had all but broken her heart to see a basket so ill attended. And she'd made a minute decision to bring it back with her. Which had been a challenge, carefully moving a basket. But she'd done it. And convinced her mate, Sanguine, that they should care for it (not that it had taken much convincing of the stallion). It was her deepest hopes that the parents of the basket would come looking for him.
Closing her eyes briefly, she shook her head, long mane cascading down her back. No, she wasn't going to think on such sad thoughts. Not when she and Sanguine had been graced with such a precious addition to the family! And, as if that wasn't enough... Perhaps the divine ones had seen their act of true kindness and decided to grace them with another special gift. For they had discovered another basket! But this one had appeared overnight, nestled beside them as they slept.
She was making good time, she felt, having promised her mama she'd try and be there before the night set in! Even though mama loved the night as much as the day. But Milli preferred to see her newest 'sibling' in the daylight.
Wings flapping again, she began to make a slow descent, recognizing some of the landmarks. She was almost there! And the mare was super excited to meet her adoptive sibling! She had her brother, Dark Heart, of course! But mama had explained that this basket was abandoned. Or at least that's what Ritual had explained. It made her so sad to think on what it must be like, not having parents fret over your basket.
Thank goodness mama had found it!
Tucking her wings in closer to her body, Milli dove towards the ground. A laugh bubbled up out of her as she snapped them open at the last second, skidding to a halt along the ground. Whoops! She may have cut that a bit close. But she'd made it! And her parents glade should be just up beyond the enclosing of trees!
"Ritual, go tell mama we're here!" She shouted up at the raven flying lazily above her. He cawed in response and went to do as he was bid.
The raven spotted Sidi and the foal, crowing pleasantly in greeting. "My lady! We have arrived. Vermillion comes, bubbly and cheerful." He added, hinting at which persona was present.
And then Milli trotted into view, slowing her pace and stopping to gaze at her mother and the foal. Oh look how cute he was! She decided then and there he was a keeper. Yep.

Gyatso bounded about, full of energy and eager to meet his sister. He didn't understand that he was adopted, not really. He just knew he had a family who loved him. There was momma and papa and the basket with a younger brother or sister for him to help take care of and now his big sister was almost here.
He had gathered flowers earlier, the ones he gave to the basket were a bit wilted and drooping, but still in pretty good shape. The ones for Vermillion were a bit worse for wear. A bouncing and excited foal tended to forget not to crush the flowers. The biggest one had gone to momma, of course, though it was also the first one he picked and had a nice ring of teeth marks where he had carried it to her.
He just springs . . . more or less in place, "she's coming, she's coming, she's coming!" in response to Dark Side's question, the grin on his face showing his excitement.
When Vermillion comes into view, he yells, "She's here! She's here momma!" as he faceless towards her, full tilt. His hooves dig in as he tries to make a stop short of her but skids the last but with a slight bump. Grinning up at her, "Hi! I'm Gyatso! You're my sister and I've been waiting forever to meet you!"

Her ears flattened as the foal racing towards her was yelling loudly about her arrival. But the grin on her face never faltered and Milli took a few more steps before stopping again. Which was a good thing since the excited colt slid right into her. It made the red mare laugh, wings folding gently along her sides again. She'd flared them just in case she needed to take flight to avoid a major collision. But there'd been no need.
"Why hello, Gyatso!" She giggled at him, lowering her head to sniff at him and familiarize herself with his scent. Then she bumped him with her nose playfully. "Oh have you? I've been waiting to meet you for some time too! I'm Milli, your big sister!"
He was so cute! With his strange crack-like looking markings. And that lionine tail! "Surely it couldn't have been forever, she teased."
Sidi laughed, a soft expression crossing her features as she watched Gyatso bound about and then race towards Vermillion. "Careful, Gyatso!" She called a little too late. He'd bumped right into his sister. The purple mare shook her head, walking over to make sure he was okay. "You certainly have waited so patiently for today to come, haven't you?"
Turning to her daughter, Sidi extended her neck to give nuzzle Mill in the equine version of a hug, "It's good to see you, hun." She murmured, stepping back to let her two children get to know one another.

"It has been forever and forever, as long as I can 'member! And you're here now and we can play and, oh! I picked you flowers!" He pelts off back towards the sad pile of flowers and grabs the dandelion on top to bring back for her. He manages to stop without incident this time and places the flower at her hooves.
"I'm gonna be the bestest little brother you have! Then we can play together all the time and have fun and all kinds of stuff. Did you want to see my shiny rocks? I would let you play with them!"
Giving his mom a glance occasionall to make sure she was there, that everything was safe, he doesn't forget her, she's just always there so he feels confident that she loves him. He wants his sister to love him too, so she has his attention."

Milli giggled, watching him race back over to the pile of flowers she hadn't noticed before. "Flowers for me?" She asked, looking down at the dandelion he brought back to her, this time without running into her! "That's so sweet of you!" She lowered her head to pick it up from where he placed it at her hooves, rubbing her nose against the foal as she straightened. "I love it! Thank you."
"The bestest, huh? Well you are the only little brother I've got... so I think you clearly are the bestest!" She laughed. Though he wasn't her only brother. Dark Heart was as old as she was. Which made her wonder how he liked their little brother too?
The mare snickered at all the energy he was practically radiating with. "Oooh, shiny rocks? I'd love to see them!"
Sidi watched Gyatso with the fondness that any parent watches their child. She was so happy to see him excited! There was only so much she could do to keep him entertained and play with him. But it was her hope that he would soon be gaining a friend to play with.
Her gaze shifted towards the basket that was snuggled safely among the shade of trees.
"Gyatso, make sure to tell your sister about your 'special' responsibility." She nodded towards the basket. "Since you're the bestest brother, keeping an eye on your new sibling to be."

Gyatso had his hooves under him, ready to pelt off towards his rock collection when his special responsibility was mentioned. Puffing out his chest he gives his best serious nod, which was a bit fast and enthusiastic, but big.
"Oh yes, I'm going to get to be a bestest little big brother . . . Big little brother . . . Middle older brother . . . The bestest buddy brother! I'm gonna be helping take care of our new brother or sister when they come outta the basket! And I have to be gentle but we'll get to play together and I'll get to watch and help keep basket baby safe! And I'll share all my bestest things and we'll be bestest friends and I'll be older so I'll be 'sponsible for keeping us out of trouble!"
"Do you wanna see?! It doesn't move or talk or anything, sometimes there's a very little wiggling, but momma says there's a baby inside. An I think it must be really small or really folded up to fit in the basket. But momma says it's growing and when he or she is big enough, the baby will come out of the basket to meet us! But only if I'm really good and don't run into it or step on it. So sometimes I bring the basket good things so it knows there's stuff out here it needs to come see. I gave it flowers today and it got some of my berries yesterday. Even if it can't eat berries yet they smell really good. But momma says I shouldn't mash the berries on the basket cause ants and flies and waspeses and stuff might come cause they like sweet messes."
"And basket baby is right over there under the trees so the sun doesn't make it too hot. And I still think splashing in the creek is a good way to not be hot but momma says not for baskets and we shouldn't splash water for them. But the baby won't be in the basket forever and when I have a new brother or sister maybe I can show them how to splash."

It took a lot of effort for the purple mare to keep from really laughing. But it was so hard and Gyatso was being so adorable! She had to raise a wing and hide her head behind it for a moment while she did laugh softly. He was just so excited to be watching out for his younger sibling! Sidi only hoped that the poor basket would pop soon. If only to give Gyatso someone closer to his size (and age) to play with.
"And we wouldn't want those crawling all over the basket." Dark Side confirmed with a nod. She moved towards the basket with her children, nosing at Gyatso before blowing air gently out her nose to clear some of the leaves off the top of the basket.
While her mother was laughing behind a wing, Milli was staring in fascination at all the energy her little brother was expressing. The words were just tumbling out of his mouth and she almost couldn't keep up with them. But she was nodding and laughing while doing her best to follow the conversation.
"I'm sure that's what we did too, when we were in baskets." Milli said thoughtfully, following after Gyatso. "Though with all your energy I bet your basket was moving around quite a bit." She giggled and teased the foal.
Spotting the basket in question, Milli inspected it curiously as mother came over to dust it off. It's coloring was much different than she and her brother, Dark Heart's had been. At least from what she remembered. It's pale blue and violet shades were quite lovely.
"I bet our new brother or sister will be very pretty. And, with the bestest little big brother to care for them, they'll be the luckiest foal around!"
Sidi caught the little curious look her daughter directed at her, the purple mare shrugging. "It just appeared. Not quite like you and your brother. Or how Gyatso came." However it had come, it was a welcome blessing to their growing family.
"Gyatso dear, weren't you going to show your sister your shiny rocks?" She gently reminded her son.
"Oh yes! I want to see these shiny rocks you spoke of! Maybe you can even show me where to find them and we can pick a special one out for me to take back to my... very dear friend." Arcadia was indeed a dear friend. But there was a little more there. Something that seemed to be deeper then love.
"I bet Arcadia would love something unique. For her art projects!"

"Something really special? I found a rock that is very special. It is colored like dandelions and it has a bug inside! I don't know how the bug gotsd inside, but it's really special, you wanna see?". He doesn't wait for an answer before he's running to his special stash.
A large, bright feather gets carefully moved to the side before Gyatso starts rummaging through his collection. Some are clearly lost beads, one looks to be a rather large scale, most are bits of quartz with a few pieces of obsidian and granite. But a slightly oblong lump of amber, rough on one end, has him smiling as he rolls it out to show off.
"See! It's got a bug inside!" Indeed it did, probably a gnat, but Gyatso beemed as he showed it off. "Mostly I find shiny rocks by the water, but they don't always stay shiny and yo have to splash them to get them shiny again. But this one doesn't get more shiny when it's wet, it just stays like this. When I first sawed it I thought it was honey but it isn't honey and do you think your friend Arcadia would like it? Cause she could have it. I'm practicing being the bestest brother for basket baby and bestest brothers share so I would share my rocks with you and your friend Arcadia. Is Arcadia going to come and play too?"

Milli giggled again at her new little brother. He was quite something! And she was very glad to have come and visit to meet him for the first time. Oh she was most definitely certain that Arcadia would adore him too! "Really? It has a bug inside?" This was intriguing and even Milli had to admit she'd never seen a rock like that before! "Sure! Show me this bug rock."
She followed him over to where his stash was hidden under a large feather. It didn't seem to match her mother's or Dark Heart's, so he must have found it somewhere. It's bright colors sort of reminded her of his personality. Very fitting. As were his collection of 'rocks'. Milli smiled but tried not to show it as she wanted to appear like she was very serious in inspecting his precious collection.
And holy crow, it really did have a bug inside! Judging by the coloring, she thought it might be some sort of stone made out of tree sap? Or... well she wasn't exactly sure but Arcadia would probably know! "Oh wow... " Milli leaned her head lower to look at it. "That's definitely a very special rock." And okay now she felt a little guilty taking this rock from him.
"I... think she would like it, most definitely." But it was his special rock! She bit her lip, glancing over her shoulder at her mother for help.
Sidi watched her children from the shade of the tree where the basket currently rested. She'd seen this special 'rock' many times. And always encouraged Gyatso to find more. But as far as she knew, he had yet to find a second piece of amber.
Ears flicking forward and catching her daughters glance, Sidi snorted in amusement, walking over to the two. "And you're doing the most excellent job!" She crooned, draping a wing over the foal. "You know what I think?" Sidi lowered her head like she was getting ready to tell Gyatso an important secret. "What if you and your sister find another bug rock to share with Arcadia. So that way, she has a little piece of you too! And you can each have a special bug rock no one else has!"
She knew he'd probably have been a little sad to lose his special rock. But he certainly was trying hard to prepare himself to be the best big brother. "What do you say, little one? Take your sister on a bug rock hunt?"

He deflates a bit, "I've been trying really hard to find another one but I don't think there are any more bug rocks. I did find one that looks like a leaf is in it if you splash it with water, but it's too big for my collection. But I can show you! Maybe, cause you're bigger, you can carry the leaf rock or maybe find more bug rocks. I can show you where they are if you wanna see. And if we don't find another you can have this one cause then you'll always 'member to come play with basket baby and me when you see it and you can bring it back with you and your friend and it won't be forever till you come play again."
That decided he grins and with a, "come on, the bestest rocks are up this way," he trots off.

Sidi smiled at Gyatso, giving his ear a playful n** and brushing some of his mane back. "Maybe it will just appear one day. Because you're so determined to find it." She herself kept an eye out when she was out walking. But the foal was right. Ever since finding that one, there had not been another like it since.
Milli watched the way her little brother deflated and ground her teeth together. Maybe they wouldn't find another one then. But he seemed to really want to share it. And she knew Arc would find the gift to be amazing. Especially coming from Gyatso.
"Yes! Please show me where you find them. And maybe with two of us, we'll get even luckier!" She grinned, wondering if the leaf rock would work just as well? "And if we don't find one, I'll take your special rock to give to Arc. And we'll be sure to come visit and play."
A quick smile was flashed at her mother before Milli nodded and trotted behind Gyatso to see where these rocks were coming from.
