It was with bittersweet feelings in his heart that Giolladhe had said goodbye to Lumriel, the mare who had helped him get through one of the more difficult times in his life, and who gave him three wonderful foals. Foals who were now grown up and no longer needed him or Lumriel. It was time for the golden stallion and silver mare to part ways – she to return to the stallion she loved, and who held her heart and he to try and find his sister, his family, the only one he knew who was still alive. He had to make things right. They were family, and misunderstandings such as the one that had left them both angry and heartsick shouldn't break their bond completely.
He could understand better now just what Lils went through, and how much pain he must have caused with his insensitive, callous remarks. After all, hadn't he done the same thing after their argument. Not intentionally- not that that made it right, or changed the fact it happened. And now, he wouldn't change it for the world. He was still fond of Lumriel, and probably always would be because of the bond they shared through their children, and then there were the children themselves. His quiet, serious sons and his baby girl. He could see now what could lead one to relations outside of mating. He couldn't condemn those who did.
This was just one of many things he needed to find Lils for, to say he was sorry, that he could understand, and that no matter what, she was still his sister, and he still loved her. But where should he start looking? How would he find her? And even more importantly, would she ever want to see him again?
He started to have some doubts - how they left each other after the argument, well, it didn't leave him with much hope. But still he had to try.
He should probably try to find Vale first though, she would have at least some idea of what to do.

The brightly colored goat, in shades of pink, paced back and forth. Her bonded would normally meet her by now. Or at least left a message to say he was still alright - still alive - but unable to meet her just then. And she could go on about her life doing what she wanted - which still usually consisted of following her bonded at a discreet distance, just to make sure he was fine. Blind or no, independent or not, he still belonged to her, and she would make sure nothing happened to him.
Though really, the messes he could get into were rather impressive - not always in a good way - but his most recent... well it certainly took the cake. Especially given his views and the fight... Honestly, she had some words for the thick-headed young stallion.
The sound of approaching hoofbeats, familiar and beloved, alerted her to the fact the object of her thoughts and worries was coming. She prepared to start in immediately with a lecture along the lines of 'what were you thinking? How could you? and after what happened with Lils? ' But the words died on her lips before they could even be formed when she caught her first glimpse of her bonded. Gone was the confident, self-assured, cocky stallion who had all the answers. In his place was one who looked defeated and heartbroken - much like he had been when she had first met him when he had been newly arrived and filled with grief at the loss of his family.
'Oh, dear one. What's wrong?'

Giolladhe pricked his ears, and followed the sound of Vale's voice and took a few steps toward her, somewhat unsure. Perhaps he had made a mistake in coming here, perhaps Vale might feel the same as Lils and not want him around anymore. He wouldn't blame her if this was the fact. He had been rather self-righteous and all in all awful. Perhaps this would be the straw that broke the camel's back and finally drove her away from him for good.
A chill ran down his spine and he shuddered at the thought. He didn't know what he would do if the motherly goat gave up on him and left him to his own devices. What would he do without her care, her mothering, and the practical no-nonsense advice when he needed it?
He waited till he felt her tug on the bottom of his cape to lead him to a place where they could talk and he leaned down to nuzzle her.
' I think I made a mistake, Vale. I was wrong... about so many things. About Lils, about family, about you. I'm sorry.' He lowered his head. 'I need to make it right. Please, don't leave me.'
As much as he needed to find Liliah, if he lost Vale, Gio didn't know what he would do. She had become so much a part of him, did so much for him, he didn't know how he could survive without her, the very thought was enough to make his blood run cold and start to give him panic attack.
'I don't know what I'd do without you.'

Vale shook her head. For as confident and self-assured as her bonded was, regarding most aspects of his life, regarding his family and those he held dear, he was surprisingly insecure. The silly guy didn't seem to understand that family and those who loved one wouldn't just leave. And she did love the foolish colt. She wouldn't leave him so easily.
'Silly boy.' She nuzzled against his side.'I'm not gonna leave you. And when we find Lils, we can clear the whole misunderstanding up, and things'll be right as rain. You'll see. We just need to find Lils...'
Vale didn't know exactly how this was going to work, how she was going to find Liliah- how they were going to find her... But it was the right thing. She was sure of it! And he would recognise it too, as soon as he got over his bout of self-doubt and what not.
He just needed to get over himself.
'Now, enough with feeling sorry for yourself. Put yourself back together. Now, where was she last time you saw her. That should be the place to start.'

Giolladhe lowered his head shamefully as he listened to his familiar's admonishments. She was right. He was being rather silly and ridiculous about the whole thing. But there was that small part of him that went back to the herd and their beliefs and strict training, when it came to Lils. But he had changed since then. He was stronger and better now. He shouldn't have to feel like some scolded colt.
He needed to think, to reason, to act. To be the stallion he had been raised to be. Not this weak, unsure colt.
Shaking it all off, Gio stood back up, tall and proud, mind cleared of all that clutter and acted as he had been taught. How he had been known to act. After the argument, when everything had gone wrong, he had shut down somewhat. Not paying attention to landmarks, the weather, or really much of anything, until he met Lumriel. He had no idea where to even begin. It was somewhere near the mountains, he thought, but was far from certain. And there were so many mountains and places it could have been...
There was only one choice he had, one option for now. He and Vale would need to split up, and wander the edges of the mountains asking about and listening for rumours of Lils. Vale was definitely not going to be all that pleased with him for this. But she would do as asked because she loved him just as much as he loved her.
'I hate to ask this of you,' Giolladhe started timidly.'But I don't really know where to begin. I think we argued somewhere near the mountains, but I don't know which or where or any landmarks at all. Would you mind going that way,' he gestured back the way she had come from, ' and I'll go this way. You send word if you find her, and I'll do the same. If we don't find anything in the next month or so we meet up and try to come up with another plan?'

Valencianna sighed. She knew the request was coming. It wasn't that she had anything against this mare, this sister of her bonded that she had never met, but she was really starting to dislike her. It was because of this mare that Giolladhe could never stop traveling, that he could never find a place to settle down, or someone to settle down with. She took up every part of him, not allowing him to have anything for himself.
But, because she loved the silly colt, Vale would do anything for him. Including this.'Don' worry, my lad. 'Tween you and me 'n my Pastel, we should be able to locate one solitary mare.'
She bit her lip at the slip up. She hadn't meant to let that little bit of info out just yet. Granted, she had wanted to tell him about her son, had in fact been planning on telling Gio as soon as she had shown up for this meeting, but seeing how distressed her silly boy was, she couldn't. Hopefully he was too distracted to notice... 'We'll find your Liliah.'

Giolladhe heard Vale's slip, but didn't register it. All he really heard was that Vale would be helping him, and she was confident that they would find Liliah, eventually. But find her they would. And that, right then was what he needed to hear.
His life might not be going as he might have hoped or imagined --- he had kids that were almost adult, and out living their own lives, and he had parted amicably from their mother... things that went against who he was. And the world seemed to be spiralling out of control, but this one thing, this one thing he could control. Could do. And he wouldn't have to do it alone.
He had Vale, and she would always be there to help him. No matter what. He took a moment to nuzzle the goat fondly.' You're the greatest, you know that Vale?' Before she could even start to react, he stepped back just a little. 'Love ya, grumpy old goat.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The golden stallion had heard whispers, rumors of a pretty purple mare who spent some time around the foothills acting as a healer. A regular mare, using herbs and techniques that were taught in his old herd. It had to be Lils, it just had to. And that was what brought him to this place, at this time.
It was winter, in the foothills... Even though there were many potential risks - blizzards, avalanches, rockslides – he had to find out if there was any truth to the rumors. So he started on his way up a trail that led deep into the mountains.
It wasn't very far up the trail when the blind stallion first noticed the signs. The unnatural silence, the subtle shifting of the ground underneath his hooves. Avalanche or landslide... he couldn't tell exactly what it was, and was unprepared when the ground underneath his hooves shifted, knocking him off balance. Then a stone struck the side of his head. And the world went black...
