To Valadhiel everything happened in slow motion. The thing in the bushes turned out to be another Soquili. His blue hide mottled from the shadows of the forest, but it was his claws that she saw first. Outstretched towards her, the curved talons wickedly sharp. Then her world was half darkened, white hot pain creeping down one side of her face. The talons had bitten into the soft orb that was her left eye. It gave way instantly, and she screamed. The sound was pure and utter agony but the worst was yet to come. The male was still falling his talons firmly entangled within her hair and still dug into the soft, now useless eye. The strain on the optical nerve was too much. It ripped and blood sprayed from the socket, her hair tearing violently as his talons finally moved from her. She fell to her side, one antler tine breaking off from the sheer force of her head hitting the ground. Her mind was in a panic as she saw the beast clean his talons of blood with a greedy tongue sucking her ruined eye into his mouth, the optical nerve hanging from his lips. Her remaining eye rolled wildly, pink froth upon her lips from biting her tongue when she fell. Her brain had had enough. It bid her sleep, and sleep she did. Unconsciousness claimed her mind, body, and soul. To the world she looked dead.
Siana was not taking this well, she had just seen her best friend attacked. Vala had lost her eye! She turned to the Soquili in question and rammed her head into his chest, her short horns raking back and forth causing some minor but mostly superficial damage but more importantly it pushed the evil creature back. She turned to Vala and used the gift her unicorn blood granted her. Sealing over the wound was easy, but Vala still didn't stir.
Worried didn't even cover it, but she had to focus on the evil stallion. She screamed at him, "Why!? Why her!? She did nothing to you!!!"

Siana couldn't believe her ears... This thing, this monster asking innocently after her herd sisters health. She brandished her horns again, the sharp antlers gleaming in the sparse light, "You are the one that did this! It's all your fault!" She would have normally regretted her words if this stallion hadn't attacked for no reason. She glanced sideways at Vala trying to see if she was still breathing. For a moment it looked like she wasn't but then the rise and fall of the injured mares sides made her breath a sigh of relief. She glared back at the stallion saying, "You stay where you are... Any sudden movements and I will run you through..." She brandished her horns one last time before carefully stepping closer to Valadhiel. Nosing her companion she asked in a pitiful voice, "Please spirits, let her live through this and still be the same...?"
In her mind Vala replayed the moment, over and over again. Where had the stallion come from? Why did he attack her? All these questions and more cycled around and around unending. Her body became restless, she needed the answers, "Mmm... Si..? Whats... Where are we..?"

Ra'Avyn stared at the angry mare in disbelief. HE had hurt the fallen Ceryngeni? But he didn't remember it... Ra'Avyn lowered his gaze to the blood riddled ground, head spinning with the accusation. Could he really have been responsible for the gory scene?
"Ray!" A familiar voice beckoned him though he paid it little heed. He was too lost in searching his mind for any trace of a memory, any hint as to the validity of other's words against him.
Shadow stumbled into the small clearing, breathless from his pursuit of Ra'Avyn. "I thought...I almost...lost you...this time," the large stallion huffed in between deep breaths. Regaining his composure, he added, "You had me worried."
Ra'Avyn didn't respond- not even providing a nod of acknowledgement. Noticing the glazed appearance of his friend's eyes, Shadow took a tentative step forward, eyes narrowing in concern. "Ray...?" He had to do a double take once he was close enough to clearly see the Hippokirilona. Blood dripped from the stallion's mouth from where an eyeball hung suspended. "What the..." Shuffling from his left caused Shadow to nearly jump out of his skin. Twisting around, he finally noticed the two mares- one of them the original owner of the eyeball- and the gruesome evidence of the attack. "What happened here?"

Vala felt her heart clench at the depressed and lifeless expression the stallion, Ray, had taken on. Despite what had just occurred, in truth, she was fine. Siana's healing magic had stopped her from bleeding out and her long bangs covered the eye socket nicely. Her eyes roamed his face and in truth Ray looked dead inside. She coughed politely hoping to gather the attention of the Soq, all of them, nearby. "Siana enough... Its obvious he has no answers for us and I am done asking." She gathered her strength and stood, albeit shakily, and looked at the offending Soquili and his friend, "Good day to you gentlemen." With her words done she turned and walked away, and didn't spare another look at the scene of carnage.
Siana stared gape mouthed at her herd sister as she stood and left the scene of her own attack and near murder, but she heeded Vala and walked away, sparing once last glance at Ray and the unnamed stallion. Her fur bristled and her lips turned down in a grimace. As she walked away her hoof kicked the broken antler tine. Staring for a moment she stepped over it, leaving it behind her and continued on, lips still in a scowl.
