Mako | Musica

He grumbled irritably as he let the heavy door to the bakery slam closed without care, the bell chiming in distress, as it clanked against the glass. Stomping away from the establishment as quickly as he could, large bow bobbing along atop his head, the young trainer was emitting nothing but bad vibes to anyone who could see him. A great deal gave him a wide berth, crooked brows aimed his way, and the amount of frosting, powder, flour, and mess that seemed to dot his clothes, face, and hair. It'd... not been a good day, to say in the least. And his apron hadn't done a lick of help in keeping him from keeping from getting dirty! Making his way down the sidewalk swiftly, he plopped himself down on a bench that was out of the way of most people, near a little area that had grass, and cobblestone little walkways... something akin to a park. Reaching into a pocket, he pulled out a Poke Ball, and with a flash of light, an Emolga popped out. Instantly, the beautiful little rodent glid down to perch onto Mako's head, crawling down to his shoulder to sniff curiously at the various stains along him. Huffing some of his frustrations, the boy rubbed at his cheek with his overly long sleeve, to rid some of the batter that still stuck there.... gaining some assistance as Emile began to daintily lick at the sweet mixture as well.

Hatch | Corney

On that same path, Hatchford was sitting in the sunlight with his meowth in his lap. The sun always felt good to him, and he admired the way it made his pokemon’s fur seem to glow. “You’re outshining the sun today, Zhira,” he crooned, earning a pleased “meowth!” from the cat-like pokemon. Chuckling as he stroked Zhira’s back, he looked up at the sound of stomping feet and huffing breath, brow rising as a girl covered in baker’s flour walked by. Looking down at Zhira, he smirked at the utter disinterest the meowth displayed. When the flash came and the tiny pokemon emerged from the other’s ball though, Zhira’s head snapped around with interest. The pokemon sniffed the air and hopped up from Hatch’s lap, and pranced over in the direction of the little emolga. Hatch frowned curiously, pushing himself up. “Zhira?”

Mako | Musica

Most of his scrubbing was successful after awhile, getting some of the frosting and flour off of his face and onto his sleeves instead, which only seemed to cause him to frown at the cloth afterwards... as if it was its fault for getting dirtied as it was. After awhile he simply gave up, arms flopping into his lap, and back thumping against the benches supportive backing. Emile continued to gingerly groom his trainer, moving along fluidly, avoiding the powdery substances for the more sweeter variety. However he gave an abrupt stop as he sensed a foreign approached, large ears twitching frantically, before he turned around to face the source. Spotting the feline, he instantly coiled himself around Mako's neck, and glared, giving an "Emuh..." in warning, sparks starting to pop from his cheeks defensively from the rather confident advance being made upon him and his partner.

Noticing Emile's clearly distressed state, Mako adjusted his large glasses tiredly, and followed the line of vision for the rodent, raising a brow as he spotted the indeed bold Meowth that was headed right for them. Blinking at it, he waited patiently for it to get closer to see what it wanted. It sure did look like it was moving with purpose... or maybe it was just extremely self-assured. Either way, it had Mako and Emile's attention.

Hatch | Corney

Zhira slowed down as he neared the pair, tail twitching high. He cocked his head, looking right at the other pokemon intently. Nose twitching, he paraded himself in front of the pair finally, turning in little loops to show himself off, eyes flicking back to the emolga as if to confirm his beauty was being noticed.

Hatch walked quickly to follow after his pokemon, brow rising when he saw Zhira’s display. He couldn’t help laughing. “Sorry if he’s bothering you.” Walking over, he bent to pick his meowth up. “Zhira, quit being a brat,” he scolded affectionately. Zhira merely purred and gave a soft little ‘meowth!’ When Hatch looked at the other human, his eyes widened in surprise. That... wasn’t a girl like he’d first thought!

Mako | Musica

The boy watched the feline with a rather neutral expression, before a mild frown began to form on his face. Why was it that this Meowth reminded him almost exactly like his Absol Fountanne...? the showboating, and confidence that radiated like the sun in the sky... Yep, this was something of another version of his Absol. Used to this kind of thing, Mako didn't react much besides giving an unimpressed stare at the cat, and serving as a perch for the increasingly irritated Emolga. Emile chattered at Zhira with clear displeasure in his squeaky voice, slinking around Mako's neck a few more times to hide beneath the long white hair held in a ponytail, and taking a few threatening tiny charges, simply by faking out that he was going to leap from the shoulders he ran along. Raising a hand, Mako sighed and stroked the little furballs small head to try and calm him, which worked in its own way since... ear rubs were hard to not melt under!

When the sound of laughter caught his attention, golden eyes flickered to what seemed to be another trainer. Looking between the interaction with the two, Mako gave a very subtle shake of his head, "He's not bothering me. Just my Emolga." he replied, said rodent glaring over at Hatch now... a few sparks of electricity dancing around him.

Hatch | Corney

Zhira twitched his tail a few times in an amused fashion, relaxed eyes on the little emolga as it squeaked and sparked. Hatch sighed and patted Zhira’s head. “Zhira, you’re gonna get yourself in trouble one of these days if you keep that up.” Looking to the boy on the ground, he cocked his head. “So, if you don’t mind me asking... are you okay? Not often a guy walked through here looking like a bakery exploded on him.”

Mako | Musica

The intense eye contact between Emolga and Meowth didn't let up, Emile poking his little head out from between Mako's fingers to make sure he kept his gaze steady on his foe. He wasn't going to let him out of his sights! Now was not the time to be melting under ear pets!

It took a moment for Mako to let his gaze lift from the curious Meowth that resembled his Absol in nature, to turn his attention to the other trainer that now stood here before him. The question, though, put him off, instantly making his eyes lift a little wider, mouth press, and heat rush to his cheeks in embarrassment. A frown quickly followed, delicate brows drawing, as he looked away just as fast too, wiping at a few stains on his chest, "I'm fine." he retorted, "It just so happens I came from just that place. Wasn't able to clean up there, so.." he trailed off irritably, turning himself a little bit away from Hatch as the embarrassment lingered, and left him remaining flustered. Emile popped his head out from behind the curtain of hair to continue his glare at Zhira, and now Hatch, his tiny stature doing little to nothing in the realm of intimidating.

Hatch | Corney

His brow rose at the sudden bashfulness displayed. So... the culprit was a bakery! But, why...? Well, this was interesting. “So a bakery did explode on you! You got a place to clean up?” he asked, a little smirk rising. “Someone might think you’re some new pokemon, walking around like that~” he stated playfully, waving his hand.

Zhira pranced a figure eight around Hatch’s legs, and then sat down to start prettily licking his paws. His eyes would flick up to Emile regularly, fluffing his fur from time to time as he shifted his attention on his paws.

Mako | Musica

A soft 'tsk' clicked from his tongue with very faint irritance at the notion mentioned again, looking up at Hatch with an unimpressed look, "Yes, yes, I guess you'd be right then." he grumped, giving up on the stain that clung stubbornly to his shirt. Sighing heavily, he brushed back his messy, heavy bangs in an annoyed manner, a very brief glance made towards where his apartment lie. "Yeah, I've got a place. I just needed to let off some steam, is all." he muttered, letting his eyes finally make their way back to Hatch and his grooming cat. Eyeing the other teen, his eyes narrowed a little, before resting back on the others, "I hope we didn't disturb you, or something." he grumbled again, starting to feel his frustration easing off bit by bit as he continued to talk, "we weren't going to be here long."

Emile didn't stop glaring at Zhira as the cat put on his little show, and settled on to grooming that lovely fur of his. When he was looked at, the rodent would tense, perk up with surprise, before squeaking in protest to the Meowth. He'd dip out from the veil of hair to find another spot to stare at Zhira from, slowly climbing his way down to cling to the long sleeve covering Mako's arm, chattering threateningly at Zhira again to try and show that cat who's boss! and to try being intimidating.... as he usually did.

Hatch | Corney

He attempted an apologetic smile, but it was still an amused smirk. That guy had some ruffled feathers! “Yeah, that’s understandable.” Surely getting covered in baking ingredients would sour anyone’s mood. Even he would probably have wanted a moment to cool off. His head cocked as Mako grumbled, and he quickly shook his head. “Oh, no, no, no. We were just out here, um..” He blushed slightly and shifted his eyes away. “N-not to sound weird, but, we were just watching. It’s so much nicer being outside than inside... and I have fun seeing the types of pokemon walking around.” It was the coordinator in him that made him so content to watch the pokemon going by. It was fun just to see what was out there. “I.. just wanted to make sure you were okay and stuff... and Zhira wanted to show off.”

Upon hearing his name, Zhira looked up at Hatch with a rather pleased expression. “Meowth!” The meowth looked back to Emile, his tail twitching contently. With his purr almost sounding like laughter, Zhira stood again and strutted around in little loops in front of Mako and Emile.

The sight of his meowth working his strut made Hatch cover his mouth to block the laughter that wanted to come up.

Mako | Musica

Cleaning his glasses on one of the few clean spots on his shirt, he glanced over at Hatch again, raising a brow at the sudden change in demeanor. When the reason of the bashfulness was explained, he slowly frowned at first, stared, and then shook his head with a halfhazard shrug, "Fair enough." he muttered easily enough. There were some interesting characters around the place, and more times than not one could witness some curious events or episodes occur right before them. Placing the glasses back on his face, he turned himself to give his full attention to Hatch now that they were on a more balanced level of embarrassment, feeling more confident than before with the even playing field. But he was surprised by the, what seemed to be genuine, kind concern that'd been aimed his way. A brow crooked another time, before he snorted faintly, "Of course I'm fine. Takes more than some batter, and icing to do anything to me." he stated with a lacing of dismissiveness to his tone. It wasn't a big deal. With the felines name mentioned, his gaze slid down to the parading Meowth... able to let a little twitch of a smirk appear at the corner of his lips. Crossing his arms, he watched as Emile reacted, shaking his head lightly, "He reminds me of when I first brought my Absol Fountanne home.. Emile wasn't too happy with him for awhile."

Said Emolga was gripping his tiny paws to the fabric of Mako's shirt as he hung along the teens bicep, crawling back up onto his shoulder as the slender arms bent and tucked again. Growling angrily at Zhira's flamboyant, and over zealous display, he finally turned himself around, and put his rump to the cat to show his lack of interest.. as well as to hide the embarrassment that dyed his pale cheeks.

Hatch | Corney

Fair enough? He relaxed with a small sigh and shook his head. Well, he was glad that he wasn’t laughed at this time. He smiled further with Mako’s assurances. “I should hope so~” he replied with a chuckle. Of all the things that one could be covered with, batter and icing were not such terrible options. His coordinator habits perked up at the mention of Fountanne though. “You have an absol?” he asked excitedly. They were one of the pokemon he loved most to look at. “Do you think I could see him one day?” He looked to Emile and smiling in understanding. Zhira would be upset if he got another pokemon companion. His brow rose as Emile displayed clear displeasure, and he had to stifle another laugh.

Zhira pranced and posed as he walked along, clearly enjoying himself. When the other pokemon turned around on him though, his ears perked and he stopped to look. Head tilting, he started to walk closer, intent on giving the thin tail a swat, but looked at Mako’s condition and paused. The human was covered in stuff that might get on him... Changing his mind, Zhira headed back to Hatch to sit next to his trainer with a very prim and proper posture.

Mako | Musica

Side glancing to the disgruntled Emolga that was now completely finished dealing with the showboating Meowth, a small hand rose to give the fine pelt a few strokes to try and soothe the irrate little rodent. It was a surprise, though, when Hatch expressed interest in meeting his Absol... slowly making Mako narrow his gaze as he eyed the healer. With a 'tch' he shook his head with disbelief, "Well I'm not sure. Who's to say we'll ever even see each other again? I mean I've only just met you, after all." he challenged, with that white brow crooking again inquisitvely, as his weight shifted on his feet. But he was quite interested with Zhira... looking back down at him again, pondering... before finally kneeling down and outstretching a hand towards the feline in an offering. This sudden decline made Emile panic and swiftly hide behind Mako's neck again, curling into a tight ball so he couldn't be seen. "Usually strangers like us just pass one another by and never meet again, in my experience."

Hatch | Corney

His brow rose slightly with Mako’s retort, and his eyes shifted away again. “I.. guess you have a point,” he murmured, a hand rising to scratch his cheek. “I.. I’m sorry if I’m being too forward.” His gaze shifted down to Zhira, intrigued by the new attention to his pokemon. “I guess... I dunno. Zhira is already taken with you, so I thought.. maybe we could try to meet again. Talk pokemon and stuff. Your emolga looks so well cared for.. I just imagine your other pokemon are beautiful, too.”

Zhira cracked an eye open as he heard the other human shift, ears perking at the extended hand. He gave Mako a flat look for a moment. Well, the human’s hand was fairly clean, compared to other parts... With a deep sigh, as though he were doing the human a huge favor, he stood and walked forward to carefully sniff at the offered hand. After a moment, he raised a paw and placed it over Mako’s fingers with acceptance.

Mako | Musica

He was patient in waiting for Zhira, only a touch surprised by the snooty behavior, but just giving a small eye roll in acknowledgement of it. His fingers would turn a little to show all angles of them being harmless, while listening to Hatch's stumbling for words. Glancing back up to the other teen, his lips pressed flat, brows lowering to the same unimpressed level too. Hm. Seemed like the cat would like anyone that gave him the time of day, by the looks of it... but he could be wrong. Who was he to say. He'd only met the Meowth, so he couldn't judge accurately. Though the compliments to his partners did make his lips purse into a more relaxed gesture, as he gave consideration to the reasonings provided. Emile did have a really shiny, and glossy coat... so it was not too big a surprise that it'd been noticed by the other trainer. When Zhira seemed to accept him, Mako very gently let his thumb rise to carefully pet the soft fur atop of the little paw. A few passerby's fawned and stared at Zhira and Mako respectively, many giving questioning looks to Mako's messy appearance... which made the little trainer suddenly become rather embarrassed, and self-conscious. Defaulting back to the usual frown and straight faced expression he wore, he closed his eyes and grit his teeth, "Fine, fine. I guess we could." he quickly answered, giving the Meowth's paw a final stroke before abruptly standing again. "I come by here a lot, on my days or time off, or go to the beach. I have a short shift tomorrow, so I can meet with you sometime then towards the evening." he instructed, arms resorting to their usual crossed position over his chest, eyes glaring off to the side as his cheeks reddened more from a few school girls giggling at his dirtied attire as they walked by. Now that he'd had time to cool off.. the embarrassment was really rolling in. "Just name the place."

Hatch | Corney

Watching the interaction between his pokemon and the teen, he couldn’t help smiling despite his new discomfort. He really did need to reign in his excitement, apparently... Naturally, his brow knit doubtfully when Mako conceded to the visit. But, quickly enough, his smile warmed back up into a subtle curve, keeping his enthusiasm within. “I can come back tomorrow, sure. Why not make it easy and keep it at the same place again? Right here?”

Zhira watched his paw with interest, head tilting slightly as it was stroked. When Mako suddenly pulled back though, he looked over to the giggling girls with interest. Immediately, he began strutting around to flaunt in front of the ladies.

Mako | Musica

Nodding along with agreement, he fussed with his heavy bangs to distract himself from the embarrassment that was beginning to sink in for him, averting all eye contact and any sort of glance towards Hatch and his furry friend. "That's fine." he replied shortly, perhaps a bit too firmly than need be, but he was frazzled, and wanting to get home as fast as possible to clean up. "Tomorrow, then." he suddenly concluded, turning quickly on his heels, and marching off down the sidewalk at a hurried pace.

Their meeting had instead ended up being in another venue, just by chance, prior to when they were to actually supposed to join again. Due to both of their curiosity for the flyer that'd been sent to them that day, the two trainers managed to meet at the point of gathering about the apparent 'Immortal Pokemon". It'd been all a hoax, as Mako had assumed, and a real let down on his end. But for Hatch, who had his share of disappointments throughout the whole adventure of it all, he managed to snatch himself up a new companion for his team. It was actually pretty pleasing to see, for the traveler, who really had no reason to be so pleased for the guy... but after seeing him attempt so many times to try and gain the friendship of nearly all the Pokemon they encountered, Mako found himself rooting and backing the healer. It'd be a great addition, a Bellsprout, to Hatch's team and career path. Mako found himself wondering how the stranger was doing... but shooed off such silly thoughts. What was the point of wondering about silly things like that?

But it was another day, now, and a promising one. It'd been sprinkling on and off during the morning, but the clouds were scared off when the sun shone its blinding beams, piercing through, and drying up all the city. With it being his off day, Mako decided a trip to the beach was in order. Besides... Flua needed to get out and about. With his messenger bag resting at his hip, and trunks hidden under his usual oversized sweater, the pint-sized trainer strode off to the outskirts of town where the beach lie, Emile gliding overhead on the cooling breeze that rolled by almost consistently. White ponytail whipped about behind Mako, bow atop his head bobbing and bowing under the winds playfulness, a hand raising to guard his glasses from the glare of the sun as he surveyed the beach for any present company. So far... not a sight of anyone there.

Hatch | Corney

It had been an exciting time since he’d first met Mako. The planned meeting had turned into yet another surprise encounter at a gathering to find some pokemon that was said to grant immortality. He’d gone out of curiosity, and the hope of finding any healing pokemon to add to his party. He’d spent the evening between Mako and trying to catch a pokemon for himself. Despite his attempts, it wasn’t until the very end in a last-ditch attempt that he finally caught one. A bellsprout. Not his first choice, but the more time he spent with the little plant, the happier he was.

Now, most of his time was spent trying to get to know his newest companion, and helping Zhira adjust to the addition as well. Where Zhira was prim and proper and gently affectionate, the bellsprout, Tulip, was rambunctious and energetic and quick to temper. It was.. an interesting combination, to say the least. Hatch needed a break. Maybe a day at the beach would be nice? They all rode over on his bike, Tulip content in her pokeball and Zhira riding in the basket behind Hatch’s seat. Not even paying attention to who else was on the beach, he dropped his bike, walked to the shore, and sat with his legs out in front of him so that the water brushed along his feet and calves as the waves came in.

Zhira noticed someone in the distance though, and sniffed the air curiously. He’d chosen the shade of a tree to sit in, and flicked his tail with interest. It was that other human again, wasn’t it...

Mako | Musica

Marching on to the sand, his little booties sinking into the soft surface, he began to pull off his large sweater, careful of his glasses, and shifting his bag around out of the way. Folding the top up, he stuffed it into the bag, sighing as his bare torso was given to the elements of both heat and air. As one would expect from looking at him off the bat, he was as underdeveloped beneath his shirt as anyone would have guessed. There was a hint of musculature, and faint form under his tanned skin, but nothing impressive. But he couldn't care less. Going further onto the beach, he stopped in one spot to pull off his stockings, and booties too, following suit with them by stuffing them into his bag. His trunks ended at about mid thigh, aquatic themed with waves, and water pokemon as a design. While his attention had been aimed at the calm sea, it quickly lifted upwards at the startled squeak from his Emolga. Circling a few times, the rodent swiftly began to decline in altitude, disappearing right into the trainers ponytail, head popping out to point, and chatter angrily at something down the way. Following the indication, squinting for a better look, Mako discovered that there was indeed someone else here... But by the way Emile was reacting, it wasn't just any normal someone. And upon further inspection, he took notice of the familiar Meowth and its pelt pattern... was that...?

At first he wasn't sure how to feel. By the looks of it, the boy he'd been bumping into lately was also here just where he was at too... huh. It was odd, to say in the least... and while normally he would ignore such things like this, he convinced himself that it was only right to inquire about the newly caught Bellsprout on behalf of its well being. After all, he wanted to make sure it was doing ok, and adjusting to its new life. Feeling that his reason justified, he changed course to approach the other trainer and his Pokemon, if not a bit awkwardly, lips pressed firmly, as he fought with second guessing his decision. What was done was done! Once close enough, in what was actually a rather... extended distance off, he cleared his throat lightly and spoke up, "How is the Bellsprout?" he started, right out of the gate, wasting no time in dawdling, or pointless small talk.

Emile was not keen at all in their advance towards Hatch and Zhira, head remaining the only thing peeking out from the white strands, glaring as usual to the pompous feline, nose all scrunched up.

Hatch | Corney

“Meow-owth!” Zhira headed for Hatch, but quickly wrinkled his nose and resumed his call from the grass. He didn’t want to get near the water, and the sand always took ages to get out of his fur!

Hatch cocked his head back to look at Zhira, brow knitting, only to snap it back around when the soft voice spoke up. Mako?! “Oh, she’s fine now, thank you. Took a while to help her calm down once she was feeling better.” He pushed himself up and brushed the sand from the seat of his pants before reaching for the pokeball. “Come meet Mako, Tulip,” he called lightly.

There was the flash of light, and the spunky little bellsprout appeared. “Bell?” Tulip’s head cocked slightly as she gazed up at the petite male; though her interest readily shifted to the sand she now stood in. Her roots wiggled, and her leaves fluttered with amusement. “Bellsprout!”
Beyond, Zhira huffed and curled up into a ball in his shade. He was still quite displeased with the new addition.

Mako | Musica

When the Bellsprout was brought out, his golden eyes snapped to it straight away. They scanned over the plant-like Pokemon's body, bending at his waist even, with his hands on his knees to get a better look at her. She looked so much better than when they'd first found her... so roughed up, and beat up from fighting... it was a relief to see. With a visual little silent sigh given, Mako nodded subtly with approval, "She does look well." he confirmed, watching the sands shift around and atop her spindly root feet. Straightening back up, Mako's hands resumed to placing themselves on his hips, casting his gaze towards Zhira, "not often I find other people here." he commented idly, "last time I did, found some girl who was lost, and soaked to the bone." he shook his head in a disapproving manner, brows even knitting slightly at the recollection.

Emile peered at Tulip, frowning, before turning to face away from both Hatch and the plants direction, giving a leap into the air as he caught the gust of wind that just whisked by. Gliding on it, he flew overhead, surveying the rest of the area as he typically did. He was the usual scout, after all.

Hatch | Corney

He let out a relieved sigh as Mako voice approval. “Yeah. She was so beat up after that incident, but she’s looking and feeling a lot better.” His chin lifted slightly, quite pleased with how the bellsprout had progressed.
Tulip’s roots snaked through the sand, curling and weaving with amusement. The ground was so soft! Not a good place to fight, but it was fun. A shadow darted by her, and she looked up with surprise at the creature flying overhead. Was it attacking?! “Bellsprout!” she shouted, a vine whip reaching up toward Emile in the air.
Hatch yelped and put his hands out. “Tulip! Stop!” To his relief, the little plant froze instantly and looked back at him curiously. “He’s not fighting you. He’s just flying around.”
“Bell.” Tulip conceded and pulled her vines back in, but continued to watch the flying pokemon warily.
Hatch gave Mako an apologetic smile. “She’s still getting used to not being out in the wild...”

Mako | Musica

Looked like Hatch really knew what he was doing, as a healer... that was encouraging to see. She seemed pretty happy, too.. acting all cute as she did.. but when she picked up on Emile's shadow, Mako quickly looked up to the gliding Emolga with worry. Thankfully, Emile was paying attention, and gave a quick sweep out of the way, a displeased, "Emuh!" shouted at Tulip from the attempted attack. Mako's shoulders and muscles untensed when the whipe was retracted in time thanks to Hatch. Looks like the two had bonded pretty quickly too. That was good. With a small sigh of relief, and Emile soaring down further away from the little cluster, Mako straightened up some, and reached into his messanger bag to pull out a Poke ball, "It's alright. I understand." he replied casually, turning to walk a little closer to the water. Tossing the Poke Ball into the air, the bright light zipped right out, and zig zagged into the calm waves, a massive figure appearing before its appearance came into view. Slinking under the water, and back up again fluidly, Flua gave a melodic, and beautiful little cry of joy as he was reunited with the sea he'd come to know so well. The massive Milotic blinked curiously at the others that weren't his teammates on the beach, cooing a little greeting to Hatch, Zhira, and Tulip.

"Go on, enjoy yourself, Flua." Mako encouraged with a small wave of his hand, the leviathan dipping back under the water to swim around, surfacing once in awhile, the sun causing his beautiful scales to glint and glimmer with each peek.

Hatch | Corney

Running a hand over his forehead, Hatch sighed with relief. “Tulip, stay with me, okay?” The bellsprout begrudgingly toddled over to Hatch’s side, her head turning to keep watch. When the milotic was released, Hatch gave a gasp of delight. “Hello again, Flua!”

Zhira perked his head up when Flua came out, but huffed again. The other pokemon was in the water... Yet, he saw Emile land a bit away from everyone. Ah! Maybe some amusement! Sitting up, he started licking his paw and running it along his face, primping himself as much as he could manage. Then, he stood and went to work casually strutting around, big paws placing carefully in the soft sand while the sun made his shining coat glisten.

Mako | Musica

The Milotic rose from the beautiful sea as he heard his name, blinking over to Hatch, and sweetly cooing to him in reply. Stretching his impressively long body from the water, he loomed over the healer, lowering his head to very tenderly touch the boys forehead with a surprising amount of gentleness considering the beasts size.

Eyeing Tulip, after watching Flua's clear delight in Hatch's calling out to him, Mako cleared his throat a little as he adjusted his glasses, "Has she been able to help you with your healing, and stuff, yet?" he asked, squating down to get a better look at the flower now that Flua was out and enjoying himself. It'd been strange seeing such a large swarm of Bellsprout at once, like that. And then a Victrebell... maybe it was a family?

Emile had landed on an outcrop of rock in the sand, towards the back, perched and scanning the area diligently, taking a great deal of seriousness in his duty. But his lage ears twitched rapidly when he felt the sudden movement in the company present at the baech. Looking over, he was not happy to see Zhira... already starting to show off like usual. Puffing his cheeks, he glared sharply, before looking completely the opposite way to show disinterest, and continue combing the sand. It was during this that something... red, just a small patch of it, was noticed in the tiny gathered particles. Squinting, he watched it wearily, frowning. What could that be...?

Hatch | Corney

His smile brightened as Flua greeting him, chuckling with the tender touch. “I’m glad to see you’re still well,” he said, reaching up to gently pet Flua’s cheek and long neck. He looked over at Mako’s question and sighed. “Well, not really. I’m still trying to get her to use her abilities differently than she’s used to. Out there, she was always defending herself. She did manage to help me by using wrap on a litleo that had an injured leg. It kept kicking and fighting, event its trainer. Tulip held it still, so I was able to work. Hoping she’ll learn sleep powder soon.. That’ll be a lot easier on everyone.”

Tulip was staring back at Mako, unblinking, body falling very still. Her leaves fluttered faintly with the breeze, swaying slightly as she stared. “Bell!” she suddenly yelped, running a circle around Mako before hurrying over to Hatch’s side, peeking back at Mako warily.

Zhira was quite pleased at the moment. While the sand wasn’t his favorite, the sun was quite delightful. His Hatch wasn’t paying attention to him, but that would change soon enough. The milotic was nice, but had been unable to keep Hatch’s attention before! He looked at the emolga with a purr, but paused a step. The other pokemon seemed alert to something... Eyes narrowing, he stopped strutting and crept a little closer, trying to see what had Emile’s attention.

Mako | Musica

Flua had learned early on how to be gentle with humans and others smaller than he, considering he was larger than nearly every being he ever met. Enjoying the affection placed upon him, he cooed quietly, and softly, a little song, to bring about an even more pleasant atmosphere to the already lovely setting.

Continuing to watch Tulip, Mako perked up a little when the Bellsprout suddenly blurted out, and circled him, crooking a brow, before giving an amused little snort. With a crooked grin, he lowered a hand, letting the back of it rest on the warm sand, but leaving it extended just a little to Tulip in offering. Listening to Hatch's concerns, he was quiet a moment, before finally putting his words together, "Well. Why not go along with her more offensive style, instead of trying to change it? seems like she can do what you'd like, but in a different sorta way." he paused, tipping his head a little, to rest his cheek on a knee, "Maybe having a more defensive nature could help with troublesome patients, and stuff." he let his fingers on the offered hand wriggle a little bit in the sand to imitate the root feet that Tulip possessed. "Might just be a part of who she is."

Emile gave a small glance to Zhira as he approached further, frowning, before crouching, and leaping into the air to glide out over the sand again. He circled a few times before landing by pulling his little arms in, near the strange red object. It was nestled in the soft surface, covered a bit... sniffing at it, he gave a little shout of warning at it. But no reaction. A few steps closer, and he sniffed some more, before perking up. It was... really shiny, and familiar. Tilting his head, he pawed at the smooth, red surface... discovering it to be rounded, and scratched up. A Poke Ball. He tried to dig around it, but with such tiny paws, the process was taking too long. Puffing his cheeks, he looked back to Zhira and called out to him with a great deal of urgency. There was a Pokemon in there!

Hatch | Corney

His petting along Flua’s neck turned into long and distracted strokes. Use Tulip for her offensive abilities? He glanced down at the little bellsprout, lips pursing slightly. Well, that was probably a good idea. Sometimes, the job of a healer wasn’t done in the safety of a clinic. “You have a point,” he admitted, watching Tulip creep slowly closer to Mako. “I didn’t intend to spend my work hours in a clinic... I’d thought about getting pokemon for defensive purposes, but I never really put much time into considering it. Suppose I should, now.” Besides, a pokemon was happiest being itself.

Tulip watched the wiggling fingers with interest, slowly stepping out from behind Hatch’s leg for a closer inspection of the thick looking ‘roots’ the human was displaying.

Zhira’s ears perked as Emile called. He hurried forward, and sniffed at the pokeball. What was it doing in the sand by itself?! He looked at Emile, and then over at the humans. “Meowth! Meow-owth!” As if he was going to dig through the sand... Let the humans have at that!

Tulip was just a foot away from Mako’s fingers when Zira started calling for their attention. “Bell!” Immediately interested, she darted like a bullet to where the two pokemon stood, kicking up more sand than should have been possible in her wake.

Zhira’s fur fluffed out as Tulip charged at them, and leapt out of the way with a hiss to avoid being trampled by the speeding plant.
Tulip used her vine whip and grabbed the pokeball without hesitation, yanked it out of the sand and held it up for inspection in the sun. “Bellsprout!”

Mako | Musica

Patiently Mako watched Tulip as she observed his antics, admittingly a bit taken by the curious Pokemon's behavior and nature. She had a spunky spirit to her, that he could definitely appreciate. It was a pleasing to hear Hatch's agreement with his statement, too, making him glance up to the other trainer, and nod along in turn. "so... do you work from home, then?" there still wasn't a lot he knew about the guy. But that wasn't too surprising considering his lack of socializing, and companionship beyond his own Pokemon. He didn't even know if they guy lived here or was just passing by!

With the sound of Zhira's summons for them, Mako peered over his shoulder to see what was up, only to widen his eyes as the Bellsprout darted around him and after the two Pokemon further down the beach. Standing quickly, Mako turned to face said direction, frowning, before making his way over to see what was going on, not even bothering to say anything to Hatch in his haste.
Flua retracted himself back to the water fully with the reaction of the land lovers, slinking into the liquid blue, to swim further down and closer to what was going on with the trio of Pokemon.

Emile squeaked in protest and shock when Tulip stampeded over, bowling him back from the mere startlement, causing him to get a face of sand. Coughing a little, and shaking out his fur, he began to shout at the plant in anger, letting his voice die down when Mako got close enough.

The trainer squinted, adjusted his glasses, and bent a little for a better look at what the Bellsprout held in her vine. A Poke Ball...? Where'd that come from? Straightening up, he looked around them again, a hand raised over his eyes for shade, as he scanned the area another time. There weren't any signs of tracks or others... back to the ball and Bellsprout, he extended a hand towards her, at a low level, and cupped, "Mind if I look at that?" he asked. Emile instantly gave a snappy command for Tulip to do as his trainer asked.

Hatch | Corney

Mind on his work now, he smiled and nodded. “Mostly. I-” He looked over at Zhira with surprise as the meowth called out. Something had those two interested. His eyes widened when Tulip suddenly darted away, forcing himself to suppress the laugh that wanted to rise at Zhira’s reaction. Poor guy. He hurried after Mako, squatting down next to the other teen for a closer look as well.
Shaking out his ruffled fur, Zhira huffed at Tulip before trotting over to climb up to the safety of Hatch’s back, peeking over Hatch’s shoulder to watch.

Tulip turned the ball every which way to inspect it, completely ignoring the irate emolga. She turned to look at the humans, and then at the emolga. Squinting stubbornly at Emile, she opened the blossom of her head as wide as she could, and stuffed the pokeball inside, giving Emile a defiant glare.

Watching the scene unfold, Hatch groaned and rubbed his cheek. Really? “Tulip, if Emile found it, it goes to his trainer.” He pointed over to Mako’s hand. “Go on. Let Mako have the ball.”

Tulip looked up at Hatch and fluttered her leaves. She seemed pleased with herself now, and readily spat the ball back out into Mako’s waiting palm

Golden eyes widened with surprise as Tulip engulfed the entire Poke Ball into her blossom, making him blink a few times with shock.... before a grin cracked on his usually fierce face, which trickled to a little snickering of amusement. This Bellsprout definitely had a personality, alright. Grin keeping on his face as the plant finally obeyed Hatch's command, he gave Tulip a nod of appreciation, "Thanks, Tulip." with the Poke Ball now in his hand, he turned it a few times to inspect, frowning as he saw the multiple gashes, scratches, and divots on it. This thing had been through a lot... and was quite aged, by the looks of it. There were signs of the pain being damaged along one side. "Who would leave this laying around...?" he mumbled to himself.

Once Mako had the ball, Emile scampered over to crawl up the arm holding it, pointing with great fervor at the ball, "Emuh, emuh!" the urgency was clear.

Glancing to Hatch, Mako frowned, "Seems it's got a Pokemon in it... by the way Emile's acting..." he felt his anger starting to rise under his skin, "Who would leave their Pokemon..." his voice trailed, before he stood abruptly, pushing the front button to enlarge the ball, and summon the Pokemon within out.
With a great flash, the contents revealed itself: a Sharpedo. Eyes wide again, Mako stared at the grand shark, as it lay in the sand, staring at the cluster of human and Pokemon alike. It didn't move, or react, just stared, slowly from one individual to the next... though its eyes looked sluggish.

"Flua, water!" Mako shouted out to the Milotic, who reacted just as the command was given. Seemingly out of nowhere, water began to spin around the large leviathan like a ribbon, growing in size, and length, before being guided towards the land to the Sharpedeo, circling around it to create a depression in the sand, and fill it. It rose high enough to the mid level of the sharks nose, who seemed to relax more with the liquid surrounding it. Mako continued to stare, his tiny hands balling into tight fists, teeth gritting firmly, brows heavily furrowed. Clearly, he was pissed. How long had the Sharpedo been out here, stuck in its ball?

Noting his trainers increasing anger, Flua stretched his long body from the sea, to lean in close to the Sharpedo, cooing to it, and questioning it gently. The shark peeked an eye open, and made little grumbling sounds in response, but kept a calm demeanor, just content to be in water again. Eventually, Flua began to draw up some more water to help douse along the rough skin of the other water dweller, which just helped all the more.

Emile stared warily at the new Pokemon, defensively standing in front of Mako, cheeks sparking lightly with warning. "What idiot of a trainer... would leave their Pokemon like this..?" Mako finally seethed, between clenched teeth, in a restrained, quiet tone.

Hatch | Corney

Once the ball was in better view, his brow knit with concern. It sure was a beat up thing... And something was in it?! His own eyes widened with shock as the pokemon was revealed, and then his brow knit with concern. The poor thing! It looked exhausted despite having just come out from the ball. He looked over at Mako, then back at the sharpedo, and sighed. This was abysmal... “Whoever does this to their pokemon should be flogged,” he growled softly. Pushing himself up with Zhira still slinging to his back, he turned and hurried over to where his bike and pack were resting. Pulling out the first aid kit that he pretty much always had on him, he hurried back and knelt in front of the weary pokemon. “Hey there... Do you mind if I look you over? I want to make sure you’re okay,” he said gently, holding out his hand to wait for the sharpedo’s approval.

Zhira huffed and jumped off from Hatch’s back. Great. Something else trying to steal his human’s attention! He could only hope that since Mako had released the pokemon from the ball, he would be the one to keep it.

Tulip watched it all unfold from a short distance away. Truthfully, she sympathized with the sharpedo, and toddled closer with her trainer. “Bellsprout,” she encouraged, blossom head tilting and leaved fluttering to seem appealing. Hatch had help her feel better, so surely her trainer could help the sharpedo as well!

Mako | Musica

The petite trainer just watched as Flua continued to hydrate the exhausted Sharpedo, feeling his anger boil, and rise in his stomach. He wanted what ever son of a gun had done this, and give them a piece of his mind! But seeing Hatch return with the medical kit, he calmed a touch, just enough to step forward too and kneel beside the healer too.

The shark peeked its other eye open to glance at Hatch as he advanced, watching him a few seconds, and then the hand, before closing the eye again in acceptance. Flua's natural presence seemed to help, too, considering he was a Milotic and a bringer of good feelings. The Sharpedo had some scratches, scars, and such along her body, but nothing too terrible... but it was clear she'd been in battle, and hadn't been properly healed up again, thus her sluggish behavior, and lack of energy. Looking worriedly to Hatch, Mako balled his hands again into fists in his lap, "Do... you think it'll be alright..?" of course it might have been a premature question to ask at this point but... his nerves were getting the best of him.

Hearing the Bellsprout call out, those sharp eyes peeled back open again, a stark contrast to the dark navy of the rough skin. And on that weary, tired face, there was a small sign of a smile, by the way those yellow eyes bunched slightly.

Hatch | Corney

He spoke softly and encouragingly as he leaned in, stroking the thick hide of the sharpedo gently. He started inspecting the various wounds, his face remaining in a flat, inspective, but still gentle expression. Thanks to the water, he was able to turn the pokemon without disturbing her too much to look at her underside. He tried to hold back an opinion until he was done looking her over, and then he turned to Mako with a smile. “I think she’ll be okay. Doesn’t look too serious. ..And I’m pretty sure she’s a she. Looks like she probably lost a battle, and the trainer...” his brow knit and he looked back at the sharpedo, giving her a few more gentle strokes, “the trainer was an idiot. I’m going to patch her up a bit, but I think what she needs most is a comfortable and safe place to rest and rehydrate.”
Tulip wouldn’t sit still, constantly circling the group while inspecting the injured pokemon. It was.. nice.. watching her trainer work.

Zhira was still off by himself in quite a huff, cleaning his fur smooth again as best as he could after Tulip got him all ruffled.

After a few stitches and bandages, Hatch leaned back and nodded. “Okay. That’ll do for now.” He looked at the pokeball the sharpedo had been inside, and frowned. “I never thought about this, but.. do you think she’ll be able to go into a different ball? One not all beat up and damaged? She’ll probably do better in one of your empties.”

Mako | Musica

The Sharpedo gave no trouble, or difficulties, showing no signs of hostility even with the strangers surrounding it. It kept calm as the inspection began, willingly moving when encouraged to, and giving a few small flinches when particularly deep, or more severe injuries were touched. It was while watching with worry, that Mako started to take note of the lovely markings on the Water/Dark type. That large star on its head stood out, and the streaks along the side were lovely too... not to mention the little decal on one of the front fins. Quickly snapping his gaze back to Hatch for the verdict, he let out a long, deep breath that he'd been holding nervously, relaxing with relief when the ok was announced. It'd be ok... a she, huh? Nodding slowly, his features smoothed more on his face, a surprisingly calm demeanor starting to take effect. But the mention of the trainer from before... made him tighten up again with anger. "I'd like to give that dead beat a piece of my mind..." he growled under his breath, arms folding tightly over his chest. Continuing to watch Hatch work diligently, he grew another level of respect for the other teen, thankful he was here. He had a few Super Potions in his bag, but.. he didn't think they'd do much in this case.

Emile had walked around the little pool as well, eyeing the Sharpedo at various sides, before nearly bumping into Zhira. Snapping at the other Pokemon, he frowned at him, before backing up a ways to also start grooming himself. Some sand had gotten into his silky, pristine pelt, after all.

Inching closer to settle beside Hatch as he worked, Mako gazed at the Sharpedo with empethy. She seemed so calm, and docile... even though she was a bit beaten up, it was still surprising to see. Most Sharpedo were fierce, and had tempers that were worriesome for most. But, that was just most, not all. And like all, every Pokemon was different. When Hatch finished, Mako looked to him, "Thanks for helping her." he murmured, one of his hands reaching out in offering to the shark. She simply looked at it, before closing her eyes again, where in which was enough of an acceptance for the tiny trainer to reach out and gingerly smooth his hand along the front of her face. She was rather dehydrated, by how rough her skin was. Of course all Sharpedo had rough skin, but this... was considerably so. When Hatch spoke up, Mako had to take a second to realize what he was asking, before whipping his head around to look at him with surprise. "Mine..?" he repeated back, in a quieter voice. Glancing back to the healing water creature, his lips pressed, "Do... you think I should..?" he asked hesitantly. What if the trainer did come back? What about Hatch? He'd helped her, after all...

Hatch | Corney

Zhira looked up with a start as Emile suddenly appeared. He gave a small, lack-luster growl, and resumed cleaning. Nothing special going on anyway...

Hatch nodded slowly. He’d like to tell off the missing trainer as well. Mako’s surprise at his suggestion made him smile though. “Well, yeah. Like I said before, it was Emile that found it, right?” He glanced over at Zhira for confirmation, amused that the meowth was more than happy to pass the responsibility of finding the pokeball on Emile. “Besides... It might sound shallow, but... a trainer who treats their pokemon like this doesn’t deserve one...” He raised a hand to rub a crick from his neck. “At the very least, you should take care of her and come back once a day for a while to see if her trainer even comes back for her. There’s still that chance it’s an honest mistake, and the trainer should appreciate you keeping her safe.” He leaned down and reached to stroke the sharpedo’s side, his voice softening with sympathy for the pokemon. “As it is... I don’t think the trainer will be coming back...”

Tulip, meanwhile, had turned to sneaking around Mako in search of the sharpedo’s ball. The pokemon was out. She wanted the ball back! Viney tendrils began easing up behind Mako’s body in search for the item before darting in for the grab.

Mako | Musica

"That's... true..." he muttered, before looking to Hatch, "But... what if she'd prefer to go with you. You're the one who helped her, and stuff, after all.." he mumbled, with a faint hint of a grumble in his voice. This was a bit... of an awkward situation. He definitely wanted to take her with him, and make sure she was getting plenty of time in the water, and to make sure she could still swim properly, but... Hatch was a healer, and had cared for her. Pressing his lips again, he turned his head to look away from the other trainer, "I just.. want her to be comfortable, and happy." he suddenly snapped irritably, his temper and fiesty 'tude returning as a defense mechanism. But Hatch was so right... No one would leave their Pokemon like this. If he'd lost any of his partners, he'd not rest, or leave the area they last were until he found them again. How could anyone leave her...? She was so sweet, by what he saw so far. And she seemed to really enjoy the gentle pets she was earning... With an annoyed sigh, he looked to Emile, and called him over.

The Emolga was glaring at Zhira from time to time as he rapidly groomed, perking up when he was called. Gliding over immidiately to perch onto Mako's outstretched arm, he tilted his head curiously.

"Go find some berries nearby, if you can. She's probably hungry.." he requested, the Emolga giving a somewhat displeased glance at the Sharpedo, before obediently leaping up and gliding off into the surrounding forest to do as asked.

It was then that Mako noticed the lingering vine that was hanging around, blinking at it, before following it back to Tulip. Oh... right. With a tip of his head in gesture, he gave her the go ahead, while reaching for a fresh, unused ball in his messanger bag. Turning it a few times in his hand, he looked over at Hatch again, and then stubbornly off, "Don't think I'd give her back even if the trainer came back around..." he muttered bitterly.

Hatch | Corney

He cocked his head and smiled. “I think you’re better suited to care for her. You have other water pokemon, so you have a better idea of how to work with them.” He watched the thoughts run through Mako’s head, brow knitting at the sudden snap of the sweet voice. It was only a moment later though that he relaxed and smiled warmly again. “And that’s why she’ll be happy with you.” Hatch would have adored having the sharpedo, but his heart told him that Mako would be the better fit.

Zhira looked up when Emile left their little grooming contest, and fluffed his fur. Heh. Little emolga getting sent on an errand~ Tail and chin in the air, he decided to head back to the bike and the shade of the tree to wait for Hatch.
Tulip froze when Mako looked around at her, but then fluttered her leaves happily. “Bellsprout!” Vines quickly wrapping around the battered ball, she turned and darted away with it to look it over in private.

Looking around at his two pokemon, Hatch chuckled softly. Such strange but wonderful companions... Mako’s bitter tone brought his eyes back around, and he nodded in understanding. “Can’t say I’d blame you,” he murmured in agreement. Finally, he made himself back off so that Mako could bond with the sharpedo more, keeping himself out of the way now that his job was done, watching the pair with a content smile.

Mako | Musica

Glancing to Hatch from the corner of his eye, and then the Sharpedo again, he kept quiet as he listened. He... was a man of the sea, after all. So he did know how those who were natives to it lived, and how to care for them. But.. that wasn't really a good enough excuse. Conflicted, his hands tightened, balled, relaxed, and repeated in his lap, pressing firmly at his knees. With a snort, he finally obliged, "Ok.." he muttered under his breath, looking back to the shark again. Reaching out, he began to stroke her some more, admiring how strong her thick skin was. Like an armor for battle. But it contrasted her lax nature currently, and how she seemed to really enjoy the caresses. "Hey would... you mind if I looked after you..?" he hesitantly asked the Sharpedo, whose eyes peeled open lazily from the question. Meeting her gaze, he stiffened nervously, new Poke Ball held up in his other hand. She eyed it slowly, stared, before closing her eyes again. Was... that a yes..? It seemed to be, from past interactions. Taking a small breath, he let the equipped hand move forward to tap against her nose, and the ball popped open, bright light zipping out and covering her entire body. Vacuuming her in, the balls button flashed between its normal white and red, before calming after awhile. Releasing another held breath, Mako smiled lightly, gazing with adoration at the ball. "I'll take good care of you.." he promised. Standing, he looked back to Hatch, before quickly shooting his gaze off, clearing his throat, "Thanks... again.." he awkwardly muttered to the other trainer, rubbing the back of his neck uncomfortably. "I guess I owe you one..." he really hated being in debt to others, but he was a man of quite a few old traditional morals and a man of his word. "I could uh... make you something to eat, or what ever.." he offered. He didn't have much, and money was super tight, considering. It was a lame offer, but it was all he had on him!

Emile eventually returned back, a small bushel of assorted berries in his mouth. Gliding back down, he circled before landing onto Mako's shoulder, plopping the berries into his lifted hand once it was there. The small rodent earned some strokes and pets, in return.

Hatch | Corney

Leaning back, a content smile rose as he watch Mako slowly settling on the idea, and the sharpedo accept it. Mako was fun to watch, really. He gave a little sigh of relief when the sharpedo vanished into the ball, and he stretched his arms up over his head. Mako would take care of her, he was sure. As he pushed himself up, he looked over at Mako with surprise. “You... owe me?” He was utterly perplexed, head cocking slightly. “What do you think you owe me for? Helping pokemon is what I do.” Yet, still, a small smile rose. “But.. if you really want to.. I wouldn’t say no to getting together some time just to hang out.”

Zhira’s ears rose immediately, looking back at the two teens curiously. They were planning something... and he wasn’t sure he liked it. The other human was nice enough, as was Flua, but why would he spend more time with that silly emolga?

Tulip was oblivious to it all, just happy to have the beat-up pokeball back in her possession. She tucked it into her mouth as she had before, and toddled back to the teens with a flutter of her leaves.

Mako | Musica

Hatch's reaction slowly made Mako begin to tighten up again, his lips press, brows furrow, and gaze shoot away as heat rose on his cheeks with embarrassment, "yeah well still. If you hadn't been here, who knows what would have happened." he snapped quickly, arms crossing firmly across his chest. Emile gave a firm nod of his own in Hatch's direction to punctuate, shooting little glares around from Zhira to the odd Bellsprout.

With another grumble and snort, Mako called back Flua, and then dug into his messanger bag to pull out his phone, taking a few steps closer to the other trainer. He didn't have the money for a fancy PokeNav like some trainers had... "Here. Give me your number, and I'll text you when I get off work tomorrow. We can hang out and have food, or what ever, then." he mumbled, Emile's nose wrinkling with distaste. Did that mean that fluffy, pompous cat was going to come, too...? Not too keen on the idea, he turned himself to face the opposite way, letting his butt face the others.

Hatch | Corney

Surprise raised his brow once again. If he hadn’t been there? Well, surely Mako would have simply taken her to the nearest clinic... Perhaps Mako wouldn’t have chosen to keep her. His smile steadily returned, and he nodded. “Okay. You got me there.” He rattled off his number, bouncing on his toes slightly with excitement. He hadn’t simply ‘hung out’ with anyone since before he’d started taking his healer training more seriously! And Mako sure was an interesting guy. “I’ll see you tomorrow then!” He blinked curiously when he realized Emile had turned away, and chuckled lightly. Just as moody as his trainer, it seemed~ “Tulip. Zhira. We should head back home.”

Tulip happily zipped up to perch on Hatch’s shoulder, peering at Mako with another flutter of leaves. “Bell!”

Zhira, however, remained by the bicycle, tail twitching with his back to everyone while waiting for Hatch to walk back over to him. When Hatch got back to the bike, he gracefully leapt up into the basket with his nose in the air.

Hatch decided to stop by the clinic first, and get his hands on some extra material about healing water pokemon. This way, he felt better about if he needed to touch up anything on the lovely sharpedo.

Mako | Musica

With the number filed away into his phone, and the name tacked onto it, Mako shoved the device back into his bag, and stuffed away his Pokeballs now. With a small nod of acknowledgement for the engagement the following day, he only spared a tiny glance to watch Hatch take his leave, attention shifting to the little Bellsprout who seemed quite pleased with herself..to which he gave a grin to. She was a silly little thing... but had a great personality by the looks of it. Once everyone started going their own way, only then did Emile turn back around, glad that oversized Purrloin wasn't around anymore. And so the pair were off. He stopped by the grocery for some discounted things... nothing special, but just so his fridge wouldn't be entirely bare, or the meal too skimpy.

The next day was just another grind at the bakery, counting the ticking of the clock, and the hands that turned with them. It seemed to go on longer than usual.... maybe it was because of the red faced woman that came in spouting off something or other about the cake she wanted and how she demanded to have it unreasonably large and bedazzled. Thank goodness Mako was kept in the back to avoid such nonsense, or else he'd give her a piece of his mind! Thankfully it was nearing the end of his shift, just as evening was starting. Since he was in the back, he pulled out his phone to shoot a text to Hatch, lips pursing this way and that as he tried to figure out the best way to devise a message. It'd been ages since he'd last texted...

[ Hey. It's Mako. The one you helped with the Sharpedo yesterday. I'll be off work in 10. ]

He paused to think again, nibbling his lip and frowning. This was difficult.

[ want to meet somewhere again, or...something?]
He was rusty at this.

Hatch | Corney

Now that the evening was coming, he felt his nerves biting back. Hang out? Hang out?! What was he going to do to hang out? When they’d previously met, it had been coincidence, or something had happened to talk about and focus on. But, to plan an evening? He jumped when his phone beeped the text notice at him, and he finally laughed at himself. Right. It would be fine. Plucking up the phone, he laughed a little more at the text’s message. Mako seemed to be unable to decide if he was sparky or shy. It was amusing, really. He cocked his head slightly before nodding to himself.

[ Why not meet where we first did at the park? Then we can go wherever from there. ]

“Okay guys. Off we go.” Zhira and Tulip both went into their pokeballs and got tucked into the special pocket at the side of the pack. Hatch grabbed the veggie dip he’d made that afternoon and the bag of tortilla chips he’d bought, prayed that Mako would enjoy it, tossed it into the basket of his bike, and headed on to the park. Thankfully, it was a clear, cool day; perfect for a ride.

Mako | Musica

The message made Mako sigh and chastise himself irritably. Of course, that would have been the perfect place to say for them to meet. Why hadn't he thought that up? annoyed with himself, he shook his head and shot back a reply.

[ sure that's fine. be there soon. ]

Stuffing the phone back into his apron, he went to getting the rest of the dough prepped to sit over night, before cleaning up and clocking out for the day. Stepping out of the bakery, he gave a mighty stretch over his head, smoothing his bangs aside when the thin apendages came back down. Glancing to the clock, he frowned when he realized he'd been five minutes late to getting off work sucessfully... he hated being late to arrangements. Quickly walking to the designated park, he looked around frantically for Hatch, more than prepared to apologize for his tardiness.

Hatch | Corney

When he rolled to a stop in the park, he looked around nervously. Mako wasn’t there yet... Was he really going to show? Hatch shook his head roughly. Why think like that? Probably just a little behind! Sighing, he propped the bike up against a tree and stretched out on his back, arms out from his sides and legs straight down, enjoying lying in the sun. His eyes would peek open from time to time to look around, and he grinned when the other teen appeared. “Mako!” he called happily, waving an arm as he pushed himself up to stand.

Mako | Musica

Hearing his name, he jumped a little, not used to hearing it in such a joyful tone. Usually it was in a harsh one, being yelled at, or reprimanded of some kind by coworkers or bosses... Seeing Hatch after a moment, he stilled, and stiffened some, smoothing out his appearance as best he could, lips pressing, and hands clutching tight to his messanger strap across his chest as he hurried over with brisk little steps. Getting close enough to the other, he kept his gaze averted, clearing his throat, and adjusting his glasses in his usual nervous habit, "Sorry for being late. Work was annoying and let me out a bit later than usual." he mumbled, "Sorry to keep you waiting." his voice was a little less tight for the latter comment, but quicker. After a bit of a pause, he looked off, feeling awkward having normal interactions with someone without any sort of strings attached type of deal, "So... did you wanna go someplace first ,or....?" his voice trailed, lips pursing as he stared down at his cute little booties, toes turning inwards to poke the tips of the boots against one another, "I was gonna make us some dinner, or what ever. It's nothing great though, so I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to do or get something else!" he quickly included, trying to seem as blase about it as possible, and like he could care less.

Hatch | Corney

His brow furrowed slightly as Mako hurried over with such a nervous posture. The apology made him smile, and he was about to dismiss it before recalling Mako’s attitude the other day. Stuff like this was important to the guy... Instead, he smiled and nodded. “Thank you.. but it’s fine. I wasn’t waiting long. I know jobs don’t always let us leave when we want them to.” Sticking his hands into his pockets, he looked back at his bike and smiled hopefully. “Actually, I brought along some chips and veggie dip. Since we’d need to get it refrigerated anyway, dinner’s as good a start as any.” He turned to pull his bike back up, and turned to give Mako a smile. “Lead the way~”

His posture slackened some with Hatch's acceptance, arms taking their usual poster to cross over his chest--but less tight, from the times when he'd be riled up. Golden eyes shifted towards the bike, a brow raising as the snack was explained. Sounded good... nodding, he turned abruptly, "Ok then. Don't get your hopes up, or anything though." he informed, starting off to lead the way. He lead them along the sidewalk across the street from the park they'd met at, and continued along it for some time, dodging, swerving around people, earning a few inquiring looks from passerby's, and some snickers from the more 'punk-like' individuals who saw his ill-matured figure, and odd get up. But he'd snap glares their way, boring through them like a Signal Beam. Eventually they made it to an apartment complex on the opposite side of the entrance to town. "This is it" he started up the stairs, gesturing with a point to the little area below them where Hatch could leave his bike, while the other hand dug in his bag to find his keys. On the upper floor he stopped at a door, and unlocked it, letting himself in. Turning on the lights revealed the rather.... empty, place. It was painted the usual bland, oatmeal tan, with white trimming here and there. It was almost a studio, except there was an actual bedroom, in the tiny hallway to the side. The living room was dead ahead when first walking in, furnished with only a small couch, a plain old table chair, an old coffee table, and a pathetically small, old television. The kitchen was attached on the other side, small too. The only bit of colour, and comforts were the few pictures, nautical items, and a soda pop bottle filled with water and wildflowers on the kitchen counter.

"Make yourself at home." the petite trainer offered, an arm extending to gesture to the place. Slipping out from the bedroom, Fountanne made his appearance, giving long, exaggerated stretches, bowing into downward dog, and foward to kick back his legs and stretch them back as far as possible. A big yawn caught up on him too, and he blinked tiredly first to Mako, before instantly turning his attention to Hatch. His head tilted curiously, sniffing towards the stranger, prancing right up to get a better look at the unknown human.

Hatch | Corney

Securing his bike with a simple chain, he followed after Mako with a tiny smile of anticipation. How did someone like Mako live? The.. simplicity of the apartment did surprise him a little bit, but his smile still grew with awe. This was Mako’s home... Not his parents’ home. Not shared with a creepy roommate or anything. Just Mako’s. That alone made it better than Hatch’s own family apartment! “Cool!” he finally voiced, setting his items onto the small table. “So, you really don’t have to share this with anyone? Your job at the bakery covers the cost?” Quickly, he looked over at Mako with an apologetic turn to his smile. “Sorry if I’m asking too much. It’s just... makes me wonder if I could afford something like this for myself.” It would be nice to get away from home...

When a new pokemon appeared, Hatch’s grin grew even brighter. An absol, and he looked so good! Mako really did take good care of his charges. “Hello there~” he cooed. Squatting down, he held his hand out to greet the handsome pokemon happily.

Reaching into his messanger bag, he pulled out one of his Poke Balls, and let Emile pop out. The little rodent shook himself out, and looked around the room briefly, stopping quickly when Hatch was spotted. Wrinkling his nose, he quickly leapt from the counter to glide off to the couch, curl up on the top of a cushion, and tuck into a tight ball to hide and sleep. Rolling his eyes, Mako didn't say anything to the displeased Emolga, and went on to open up his fridge and pull out some vegetables, setting them on the counter. The questions made him shrug lightly, "The job barely covers for all of this.." he muttered with a hint of bitterness in his tone, "But it was the cheapest place I could find." and it was the reasoning for the sparse furnishings. "It'd be easier to live with someone but..." he frowned as he pulled out an old large pot, and filled it with water, "can't say I've got anyone who'd want to share a place with me." there was a snappiness to his tone, the large pot pulled up and onto the old rickety stove, where he started up the heat. So Hatch still lived with his folks, huh? "Got a job yourself then? Besides the whole healing gig, and stuff?"

Fountanne grinned large, and proudly, his chest puffed out, and head lifted proudly with Hatch's clear appreciation for him, and the endearing tone aimed his way. He easily smoothed the beautifully decorated cheek of his against the extended hand, allowing it to slide along his silky, sleek coat, to the thicker fur that resided along the neck.

Mako glanced over, "Oh, that's Fountanne. My Absol you'd said you wanted to meet." getting onto his tippy tip toes, he reached for a cuboard above the stove and pulled out a box of multi-coloured spiral pasta, dumping them into the boiling water, sprinkling in some salt afterwards.

Hatch | Corney

As the situation was revealed bit by bit, he looked over at Mako with an empathetic smile. It was probably too soon to ask why the guy was living on his own if he was so hard down... Mako wouldn’t mind sharing?! Hatch couldn’t help himself as he jumped up with a grin. “I would share!” he chirped excitedly. Though, the next second he was squatting back next to Fountanne with a deep red shade to his tanned skin. “I mean.. yeah, I’m pretty much focused on healing right now. I’m working at the clinic in town to learn more about it and get some experience. ..Not really doing more than assisting in simple procedures and check-ups right now, but there’s room for advancement there for me if I want to stay...” His fingers burrowed into the thick, pure fur, little smile rising. “You sure do take good care of your pokemon, Mako,” he murmured with a tilt of admiration in his tone.

Mako | Musica

The sudden exclamation from Hatch startled him a bit, along with Emile, who whipped up his little head from the tucked up position he had been in to stare at the healer who was now back on the ground and flustered. Frowning, Emile gave a displeased little huff, and curled back up. Mako, on the other hand, raised a brow, and stared at the crouched again Hatch, before narrowing his eyes, and furrowing his brows with a quizzical, yet skeptical expression. "Really..?" it was perplexing to him that this guy really would be ok spending so much time with him, and sharing a space with him. Just the fact that this was the second time Hatch ahd requested his company was boggling enough as is. It made Mako wonder... what was this guys game...? snorting dismissively, he walked to the veggies, and took them to the sink to rinse them, "Do you make enough to even share a place with someone?" he paused, "Course, this place is too small, so it'd have to be somewhere with two bedrooms, and those cost more than this run down crap hole." he grumbled. Doctors got paid really well, Poke Center's probably being the number one places since they were ER's. Was it the same for those in the lower food chain in the line of work? Bringing the veggies back to the counter, he looked over again at Hatch and Fountanne, who was soaking up all the attention on him, before back to the vegetables to start chopping them up, "Course I do. They're the only friends I have, and deserve only the best." he retorted firmly, in a matter-of-fact tone.

Speaking of which.. "So... I was thinking it might be good for Sharza--... the Sharpedo, to get... looked at every few days, or what ever.." he muttered, keeping focused on the chopping, "should I bring her by your place, or the clinic to get looked at..?" he tried to keep it as business like as possible, and keep his awkwardness out of his tone... though it might have come out rather rigid because of it.

Hatch | Corney

His cheeks burned brightly, and he kept his head down. He could be a little over eager at times... “It would depend on the cost of the place, and how much the roommate could contribute,” he replied softly, his eyes remaining on the absol he was petting. Mako’s only friends? Well, the guy could be a little rough around the edges, but was that really true? He glanced over at the petite male, a tiny smile forming. Well... the guy had another friend now, whether he knew it or not. Hatch had friends, but not real friends. He never invited anyone over, or got invited to someone else’s place. He remained hopeful, though, that the next time would be different. Maybe Mako would be different? He calmed back down as the sharpedo was mentioned, standing as his face cooled back down. Now his eyes lit up with delight. Mako wanted him to do the check-ups? “Sharza’s a nice name,” he said before nodding a little. “Let’s do at least one visit to the clinic to make sure there’s no hidden damage, but, after that... my place would be fine.” He shoved his hands into his pockets before walking over to the small kitchen. “I can get you a discount for the clinic visit, but they usually don’t take dinners as repayment like I do.” He tried to smile playfully, and leaned against the table. “How is she doing?”

Mako | Musica

"Well... typically, you split the rent 50/50. And I'll bet there's some cheap two bedroom places here, or somewhere." he muttered, "It's pretty easy, for two people with jobs."He'd had a few roomates in the past, but they'd never lasted long. There was always some sort of trifle, or fight over something, or one of them not picking up their share of the rent, or slacking, or bringing home unfavorable guests that would then cause issues or unwanted drama. But... living with someone else did help him save more than the chump change he had left over after bills, and taxes, and food, and what not. Fountanne was eating up all the attention on him, resting his head comfortably on one of Hatch's arms as he was stroked. When the teen rose, he blinked lethargically a few times, and trotted after him, rubbing himself against his legs to let the human know he was there, same for Mako, keeping mindful of the sharp blade poised on his head.

Mulling over, and heavily stuck in thought about him and Hatch finding a place together, he started to weigh his pro's and con's, while looking back on their few encounters to assess what kind of roomate the guy might possibly be like. Seemed ok so far... but so long as he was responsible and did his share, it didn't matter too much. After all they'd just be sharing the same space, is all. And with him trying to find a second job to make more money, maybe they wouldn't even see that much of each other. When the clinic was mentioned, he glanced over briefly, and gave a small nod of understanding.

That made sense. Didn't want her to be suffering with anything serious. "Are you guys open tomorrow? I have an evening shift so I could probably stop by earlier in the day." he hated the late shifts, but someone had to finish up orders, and get dough prepared for the next morning. The mention of the discount made him still, and his chopping stop, cheeks prickling with colour and heat, "I don't need charity." he snapped firmly, "I can pay in full, what ever the price." the chopping resumed, but faster and with more power this time, the knife scraping loudly as he shoved aside the completed veggies for a still whole one. Frowning, deeply, and perhaps even pouting at the same time, he begrudgingly replied, shortly, "She's doing better.." Fountanne seemed amused by his trainers ruffled state, and pranced around to return to Hatch and sniff anywhere he could curiously, able to smell the others Pokemon's scents on him.

Hatch | Corney

He nodded along slowly. He was glad to hear Mako thought 50/50 was right. There was someone at clinic who had been searching for a roommate, but was only willing to split the rent 30/70, which Hatch thought was rather unreasonable. Looking down at Fountanne, he smiled and reached back down to stroke the soft fur again. “Yeah, we’re open every day. Fewer staff on the slower days and at nights, but there’s always someone there.” The sudden snap made him straighten up at attention, his head slowly cocked, and he held up a hand. “It’s not charity. It’s just a first-timer discount. Everyone gets one when they bring a pokemon or themselves for the first time. Since this will be Sharza’s first visit with you as her owner, she gets the discount.” His hand rose to ruffle bashfully through his hair. “When I said I’d get if for you, I didn’t mean I’d be talking anything down. I just meant I’d get the paperwork for you so that you don’t have to fuss with all that.” Looking down at the absol, he smiled and gently picked the pokemon up, watching to make sure Fountanne was accepting the motion. “Your trainer is so touchy~” he said to Fountanne playfully.

Mako | Musica

With Hatch's clarification, the heat only increased on Mako's cheeks, and the trainer stiffened more. Jumping to conclusions, and overreacting was definitely a trait of his that got him in trouble with others. But it was trange... Hatch didn't seem all too bothered by it. He wasn't sure if that was annoying or... something else. Any matter, he snorted lightly with irritation, pushing aside more chopped up veggies to work on another, " I see." he grumbled in a less sharp, and harsh tone. "Then we'll come tomorrow." with the plan stated, he was ready to be done with the conversation, scooping up what he'd gotten into smaller slivers, and dumping them into the pot with the pasta. Just a light boiling, nothing to really break down the veggies, but to just bring out their juices, and have the pasta absorb some of it... or what ever. He stirred the mixture awhile, though he turned his head to shoot a glare at Hatch and the comment made. Feeling a bit spiteful, he decided to put the other teen on the hot spot, "So why would you want to leave home, if you've got a place that you don't have to spend money on?"

Fountanne perked up with surprise as he was hoisted up, but didn't protest. He hadn't had many people pick him up, especially not Mako considering his tiny stature... but this was nice! Grinning pleased, he stretched his neck up to lick along Hatch's cheek, and ear happily, more than glad to be held close, and given fully contact.

Hatch | Corney

Tomorrow. “Okay. Walk in whenever you like, or make an appointment if you prefer.” Sitting at the chair, he settled the absol in his lap to stroke contently. His brow lifted a moment before shifting to the side. He didn’t want to complain about his life. It was a pretty decent life. Yet... “Home isn’t really home anymore,” he finally said, keeping his voice as nonchalant as possible. “But, hey, we all have to strike out on our own from home some time, eh?” he commented with a little chuckle.

Mako | Musica

Peeking up from the mixing, he glanced to Hatch with Fountanne, deciding not to press further on the matter of the other trainers status in regards to those that lived at his home. Hoisting up the big pot, he poured it through the strainer, getting all the water out, with the noodles and veggies remaining. Pulling out a few cheap plates, paired with mix matched forks, he scooped some of the pasta onto each plate, and brought them to the table to place. "Got water and.. orange juice. Take your pick." he muttered as he walked back to get drinks, pouring water for himself.

While he did so, he thought to himself, and spoke aloud again, "It's good to get out early, I think." he tacked on, "Let's you grow up faster, and make something of yourself."

Fountanne was quite content to being a lap puppy, eyes closed, and lips pulled back in a big grin as he was pet. Little Emile perked up as the pasta was brought to the table, tiny nost twitching madly as the perfume of the meal wafted his way. Lifting his head, he stared at the two steaming plates, eyeing first Hatch, then glaring at him, before turning around on the couch, and jumping off to glide to Mako, landing right on one of his shoulders, to peer at the remaining pasta in the strainer. With a small frown, the petite trainer decided to pick a cucumber out from the leftovers, holding it up for the rodent to snap up and chow down on swiftly.

Hatch | Corney

Rather pleased that Mako was letting his answer be enough, he focused on giving the absol a mini-inspection. He looked at the face, ruffled the fur to see the skin and then smoothed it back down, stroked along to feel the muscle tone... It really was admirable, how well these pokemon were cared for, considering the apparent money restrictions. “Orange juice would be good, thank you,” he stated, looking back up to Mako with a smile. The food smelled quite good! He reached over to open the bag of chips and little dip container to make sure that wasn’t forgotten. The comment made his brow rise curiously though. “So.. what do you want to make of yourself?” he asked, head cocking slightly. “Is the bakery your future?”

Mako | Musica

Fountanne obediently allowed Hatch to do as he pleased, moving his head when it was needed and requested. He wasn't going to turn down all this attention on him! In fact, he even puffed up some as the inspection went on, muscles twitching slightly to flex, and his head holding proudly to show off the trademark blade that all Absol possessed dawned upon their skulls.

When the drink order was given, Mako fulfilled it, pouring a fair amount into a glass for Hatch, and returned to the table to place it before him. Noting the chips and dip had been cracked out, he eyed them a little, before reaching to take a sample for himself. Not bad... nice balance, and it'd go well with the pasta. Dipping another chip, he walked around to take his own seat, Emile scurrying around to hide behind his neck, and glare across the table at Hatch with clear displeasure.

Spearing some of the tightly coiled noodles onto his fork, with a few veggies such as cucumber and peppers to the end, he was about to pop the first bite into his mouth, when Hatch voiced his questions. With a scoff, he shook his head firmly, nose wrinkling with distaste, "Heck no." he retorted firmly, and quickly, "I only took that job because I got fired everywhere else I worked, and so I needed some place to make money at. It's been working out so far.. but..." he trailed off in a mumble, stuffing the full fork into his mouth to chew away at.

His eyes kept downcast, staring at the plate, pushing around the meal to pick out what he wanted and sort it together, "I'm going to be the captain of a ship someday, and I'll travel all over the seas, and see the world." he declared, small chest puffing up a little as his golden eyes snapped over to the side to eye a nautical portrait that hung up on the wall. It was of a large sea, with water Pokemon of all kinds in it, and a large ship sailing over it. A sort of twinkle shimmered in his eyes, and... what could be interpreted as a smile, might have twitched onto his lips as he gazed at the picture. But a few seconds later, he snapped back into the present, and blushed hotly with embarrassment, swiftly letting his features furrow and return to their 'tough guy' look, "So... what about you? Gonna be a vet, or something?"

Hatch | Corney

Giving Fountanne a few more admiring pets, he allowed the absol to remain in his lap as he reached for a fork to nab up some of the pasta. As he chewed, he watched Mako curiously and attentively. Got fired everywhere else? Sure, Mako could be a bit abrasive, that much was clear, but to have a history of being fired? He began to understand as that wistful expression took over the delicate features in front of him. Mako was like him... The normal, day in, day out kind of work wasn’t for him. There was a hunger for more... His smile grew as he watched Mako talk about being on the sea. How unexpected... When the expression suddenly shifted, he chuckled and nodded, his own expression lighting up. “Yup! I want to be a veterinarian! My mother is one, and I watched her help so many people and pokemon growing up... I really want to do the same. Be able to help everyone I can when they need it.” His smile brightened, and he scooped a chip into the dip and popped it into his mouth to crunch contently.

Mako | Musica

Throughout while eating his food, he'd lift a piece up for Emile, who'd snatch it up and chew it up just as quickly, licking his tiny little lips after finishing each portion. Fountanne was content enough to just curl up comfortably on the larger teens lap, listening to the two talk. It was nice for his trainer to finally have someone to talk to... it was quite rare for there to ever be company that stuck around for dinner. It was nice indeed.

Mako kept eyeing the dip, the taste of it still picking at the back of his mind, and showing up with bites of the meal he'd made..making him want more. As discretely as he could, and nonchalantly, he'd reach for a chip to also take some dip again, keeping his face as stern and unamused as possible, like usual. Hatch wanted to be like his mom, huh? Interesting. "Admirable line of work." he muttered in approval, before taking another bite of pasta. But outside his door, in the hallway to it, there was the sound of a door slamming open, and slapping against the wall from the force used, followed by rather loud shouting. Instantly, Mako tensed, and then tightened a hand around the fork in his possession, eyes closing, and furrowing with irritation. It sounded like a lovers quarrel of some kind... and it was obnoxious as all of them tend to be. "You've got to be kidding me.." he seethed, before standing abruptly, chair shifting back from the movement. Stomping over to his own door, he yanked it open, and shouted at the two young adults that were crying and yelling at each other, "Take what ever stupid problem you're having, and deal with it somewhere else! No one wants to hear you two screeching like a pair of Fearows fighting over a scrap of a Leypa berry!! act like you have some sense for once in your lives" Emile chattered away along with Mako to show his bother with the matter as well, the couple shutting up right away, and Mako walking back in, slamming his own door irritably. Grumbling under his breath, he sat heavily with a sigh back in his chair, scootching it forward, and smoothing back his bangs, "I swear to Arceus... those two should just break up, already.."

Hatch | Corney

Eating both the chips and the noodles happily, he only looked up enough to make sure Mako was enjoying the dip. While it wasn’t earning any praise, Mako seemed to like it. That was enough to make Hatch happy. Admirable? “Thanks,” he replied with a pleased smile. As soon as the commotion started up though, his body froze, fork poised over the pasta. Slowly, the fork dropped back to the table, and his hands dropped to clutch tightly in his lap as Mako got the pair yelling to quiet down. He forced his hands to relax enough to stroke Fountanne’s fur again to calm himself down. “They don’t have kids over at that apartment, do they?” he asked softly, his eyes focused down on the absol.

Mako | Musica

Instantly, Fountanne sensed and felt Hatch's tension. An eye peeled open to peek up at the boy, watching him. Turning his head carefully, he began to tenderly lick at Hatch's arm to try and provide a means of soothing. Scratching at his head irritably, Mako glanced up as Hatch spoke, snorting softly, "Heck no. And good thing, too. They'd be horrible parents, the two of them. Just some young adults who think far too highly of themselves, and no one else. Always fighting about the stupidest of things." he grumbled, shoving another chip into his mouth to chew on roughly. "It's always something with them.. wish the landlord would just kick them out already." spearing some pasta swirls, he popped a bite of that into his mouth, looking up again after awhile when he noticed Fountanne's interaction with the other trainer. Then, looking to Hatch, he noticed the change in vibe, and expression, making him slowly put his fork down too. Clearing his throat, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, "Sorry, about all that. It can get pretty crazy around here." he mumbled, "But.. can't expect much in a place as cheap as this."

Hatch | Corney

He gave Fountanne a wan smile, running his fingers through the rich coat to ease his mind. “Most fights are pretty stupid,” he murmured, scratching the absol’s chin. He had never understood it, and he hoped he never would. He looked up as Mako’s tone pulled back with the apology, and he shook his head with that subdued smile still in place. “Not your fault that they can’t be responsible. I guess I just kinda hoped that it wasn’t the same everywhere...” Looking down at Fountanne, his smile warmed a tiny bit and he plucked the pokemon up to be nose to nose. “Can only control your own actions, right, Fountanne?” He nuzzled Fountanne affectionately, and then set the pokemon back down onto his lap. He picked his fork back up and made himself start eating again. “I bet we could find some place a little better.. if we work together at it,” he murmured after a moment, eyes staying down on his food.

Mako | Musica

More than happy to soak up all of the doting that Hatch was laying down on him, Fountanne easily tipped his head as it was encouraged to, to earn the additional scratches and pets from those skilled fingers. And considering they were longer than Mako's they could reach further through his thick, fluffy, silken coat! He blinked a few times as he was shifted without his own doing, the blade like tail on his rear waving lightly in a delighted wag, "Sol~" he replied to Hatch calm, and smoothly, with deep undertones to his voice. A quite rich sound, indeed, and a lick to the young trainers nose was earned.

Nodding slowly, Mako agreed, stuffing the last of his pasta into his mouth, and letting his fork settle on the plate. Chugging back his water, he gave a long sigh, and sat back in his chair, staring up at his ceiling, "True.." he muttered, before letting his golden orbs slide back down to stare at Hatch and Fountanne... snorting lightly. The Absol was going to be so spoiled by Hatch... Crossing his arms, he looked to the small window to the side, in the living room, "Yeah, there's some better places closer to where I work. But they're a little pricey.." he mumbled, "could probably pay it, though... so long as I don't lose this job too." he snorted again, irritably. It was then that his brows furrowed deeply, and he gave a small irritated groan with himself, standing suddenly, and picking up his dishes, "Maybe you shouldn't find a place with someone like me. I mean, I'm always losing jobs cause of stupid bosses who don't like my personality. I wouldn't want to put you out, or anything, especially since your'e so nice and all." he grumbled, frustrated with himself, as he marched to the kitchen to put his finished plates away. And surely Hatch would get tired of his personality... there was a reason he didn't have friends, and lived alone, and got fired from every job he'd managed to get.

Hatch | Corney

With one hand still petting Fountanne, he felt himself calm back down more and more. As he lifted the last bite to eat, he sighed contently. At least Mako had been able to get the yelling to stop. Now, it was again a pleasant visit with- ..His brow rose as Mako marched off, and then knit slightly. He cradled Fountanne and stood, putting the absol back onto the seat before taking his plates to follow. “Maybe we should look for a place closer to the water then. If your dream is to be out on the ocean, then you need to start working near it and living near it. Doesn’t matter for me, since I go where the injured are. The clinic still wouldn’t be a bad ride for me. I know on the water is expensive, but it’d be okay if we went somewhere without a water view. That alone would cut the price down for us, and I’m willing to bet you’d like it better to live closer to the water.” He smiled playfully and nudged Mako with his elbow lightly, “and I’ll judge if I can handle living with you for myself, Mr. Personality~”

Mako | Musica

Turning on the water, it gave a hiss as it rushed out, the stream wimpy, and oddly shaped... certainly not strong either. Pulling out the sponge, he soaped it up, and began scrubbing firmly at the plates... more than necessary, at that. Hearing Hatch mentioning the water though made his strength lessen some, and a glance spared towards the other teen. By... the water... that did cost a lot. Even the small beach houses were insanely expensive. If only the guys at the dock would let him work there. But nooo. He was too small, and too weak, in their eyes. What did they know?! Taking Hatch's plate, he began to scrub it too, pout formed on his face as he mulled over the new information the healer brought to the table, "That... would be nice..." he agreed stubbornly, under his breath. But he didn't want to be the reason that their cost was higher for a place. Looking over from the nudge, he frowned at Hatch, before his features relaxed a little, and he gave a small, very faint, amused snort. Emile peeked out from behind the curtain that was Mako's ponytail, giving a quick glare to Hatch in the process too.

"Well, I guess somewhere closer would be nice. But we don't have to get one with a view. I don't want to be spending more on innecessities like that, just for something for me." he stated firmly, turning off the water, and moving on to drying. "I know there's some places a little past the bakery and Poke Center that are kinda closer to the water... but not directly next to it. Could maybe look there." he quietly suggested... perhaps even a bit shyly.

Fountanne stretched and yawned as he was now free to himself, but trotted on after Hatch, brushing himself against the others legs to make sure he was aware of his presence, before sniffing around for any scraps.

Hatch | Corney

“Exactly. Near the water, but not on it. That would be nice, and I bet we could do it.” Hatch grinned and bent to give Fountanne another little skritch before straightening up again. He was getting excited! Perhaps it was a bit preemptive of him, but he couldn’t help it. Striking out finally... Getting free... He leaned against the counter, head tilting back slightly. “Let’s see... I’ll be at the Center all day tomorrow... What about this weekend? You free to do some looking?”

Mako | Musica

Drying off the last plate, he felt himself getting a little excited too by the prospect of leaving the current dump he was stuck in, and into a better place. And.. Hatch seemed like a decent guy, so maybe it wouldn't all fall into shambles like the previous ones. Placing the dried plate atop the other, he dried his own hands now, nodding in agreement, "I work morning shifts on the weekends, so should be free in the evenings." he confirmed. Fidgeting a little with the over sized sleeves on his shirt, he shifted his weight too, feeling a little uncomfortable with how at ease he was starting to feel. "I'll check the papers tomorrow at work, too, to see if any openings are listed." he quickly added on, straightening up, "we'll be seeing each other every day, it looks like. Tomorrow at your clinic for Sharza, and then your house for post check ups, and then looking at the apartments.." he mumbled, voice trailing, "I guess if any time would show how unbearable I can be, I guess this would be it." he grumped, arms crossing.

Hatch | Corney

Evenings. That would be fine. He could look in the papers in the mornings and lay out a plan for them to follow! “Sounds good.” When the fact of their continued presence together the rest of the week was pointed out, his brow rose curiously. Mako was right. “Cool. I’m excited to see how Sharza’s doing,” he confirmed with a nod. He paused a moment at the final statement, his own arms crossing slowly while he thought. “Well, that street goes both ways, right? You might find you can’t stand being around me so much~” he mused, looking over at Mako with a rather matter-of-fact expression. “Though, I suppose this would be a good time to make sure our pokemon can handle being together as well. Is it okay if I bring out Zhira and Tulip?”

Mako | Musica

With this new piece of information brought to light, Mako blinked a few times with mild shock, before looking to Hatch with a few firm nods of agreement. Why hadn't he thought of that before? That was a key necessity if they were to be living together. "I can't bring out everyone, since... well Flua would destroy the apartment, and probably get stuck... but we can let them meet him and Sharza on the beach." he confirmed. Reaching for Emile who was trying to keep hidden, he held the little rodent on his arm, "I guess this one will be the toughest challenge.." he mumbled, the Emolga glaring instantly at Hatch as he was exposed, and turning his rump towards the other trainer. Pressing his lips, Mako shook his head and sighed lightly, "Just takes awhile for him to warm up to others.. if at all..."

Fountanna perked up at the mention of other Pokemon, trotting back over to Hatch and staring up at him expectantly, head cocking even in an inquisitive gesture.

Hatch | Corney

A soft laugh sounded as the pokemon turned around on him. “We already know that he and Zhira aren’t exactly buddies. Maybe Zhira will get along a little better with Fountanne?” Kneeling down, he pulled out a pokeball and held it out for Fountanne to see. “This is my meowth, Zhira. He can be a bit persnickety, but he does like your trainer already.” With that, he let Zhira out.... only to have the meowth be curled up in a tight, grumpy ball. Hatch looked at him a moment before he sighed. “Okay. He’s gonna be that way about it.” Zhira wasn’t a fan of being inside his pokeball for too long. “Fine. Tulip can make friends while you sit and mope.” The second pokeball was pulled out for Fountanne to inspect before letting out the little bellsprout.

“Bell!” Tulip chirped, immediately darting around the little apartment to look it over.

Mako | Musica

Nodding in agreement, he watched the introduction, curious by the step by step method used. Fountanne sniffed delicately at the presented balls, patiently waiting for the Pokemon to be produced. Staring at Zhira first, he sniffed towards the feline, and watched him for awhile. But due to the disgruntled manner the Meowth was in, the Absol didn't bother it further. When Tulip was brought out, however, he perked up with surprise by the burst of energy the tiny plant had, trotting after her a little to watch her zip about the small aparment. His tail gave a small twitch, before he settled to a seated position to watch her explore the place, only to moments later ease into a laying position, and give a contented yawn.

Kneeling, Mako got to Zhira's level, reaching out to pet the beautiful coat, "So even you can be grumpy, huh?" he muttered tot he Meowth. Emile gave a displeased squeak and darted up Mako's arm as he got closer to his rival, diving behind the trainers neck to hide away from the invasion. Glancing towards Tulip, Mako also watched her as he caressed Zhira, "She looks like she's doing well." he commented approvingly, pleased to see the Bellsprout lively, and more comfortable than their first meetings.

Hatch | Corney

Zhira remained in a tight little ball, quite put off at having been left in the pokeball for so long. Not only that, he was now stuck in a room with that annoying emolga! The nerve of his trainer! Yet, when he gained Mako’s attention, his ears perked, and he turned his head just enough to look over at the human with the edge of his vision. Well, he did like this trainer... and the guy was paying attention to him. He was tickled to see Emile’s displeasure, and that was enough to encourage him to allow himself to open up a little. Purr rising, he nuzzled the hand petting him and gave it a small lick.

Hatch smirked and shook his head at Zhira’s behavior. “Brat~” he muttered with amusement under his breath. “Tulip! Be careful!” He jumped forward to grab a lamp the buzzing Bellsprout had nearly tipped over and sighed. “If you don’t calm down, you’re going back into the ball.” He looked over at Mako and nodded. “Yeah. She’s opened up even more. I.. took your advice, about helping her to train for more than just helping with the gentler things... She’s been enjoying having that outlet.”

Tulip was too excited to pay attention to Hatch. It was a new place! She stuttered to a halt in front of the absol, her blossom cocking curiously. A moment later, she was climbing onto Fountanne and curling her roots into the thick fur to settle just as contently, inspecting this new pokemon up close.

Mako | Musica

As the Meowth began to unfurl from his tightly, unhappy ball, Mako was able to stroke more of that lovely coat, and gave the little coin fixed on the cats brow a little stroke with his thumb too. He had a bit of a fondness for Zhira. He couldn't really put his finger on why, but there was some familiarity about him that interested the petite trainer. Emile, of course, was NOT at all happy to see the Meowth starting to warm right up to his trainer. Growling, "Emol....." irritably, he snorted, and dove under Mako's shirt to find a place to burrow, in the overflowing, oversized cloth.

Fountanne was content to watch the going-ons with the additional Pokemon about, a bit surprised by the surge of energy that was Tulip darting about the place. And he'd thought Emile had a lot of energy! When the plant returned to him, he remained calm, sniffing at her a little, before lifting his head upright as she began to scale up his body, and grip at his fur. With a big grin stretched on his lips, the Absol closed his eyes contently, rather enjoying the little massage the roots provided.

Snorting quietly in amusement, Mako watched the pair interact, having tensed slightly at the sight of the lamp nearly falling. But Hatch was quick, thankfully. "Good to hear." he paused, looking to Hatch, "Looks like she's going to be a handful, with all that energy." he mused, "How's she feel about water? er... a lot of it, I guess. Flua's pretty energetic at times." while the two Pokemon were vastly different in multiple ways, the Milotic would probably be thrilled to have someone to play with. "He can always play on land, though."

Hatch | Corney

Zhira cracked an eye open to peek up at the irate emolga, tail giving a pleased twitch. If Emile was unhappy, then he was content as could be. Unfurling more, he laid his head onto his paws to stretch out contently, purr rumbling soft but consistent under the welcome attention.

Hatch nodded. “She already is~” he replied with a chuckle. The mention of water made his head c**k slightly. “Well, I’m not really sure. She’s okay when we go to the beach, but she’s never gone into the deeper parts. Sticks to the shallows with me.” The mention of Flua made him smile. “I bet she’d like that.”

Tulip’s roots traveled through Fountanne’s fur gently but curiously. This pokemon was sitting much more still than the meowth she’d tried climbing before. It was a nice change. And the fur was so thick and soft! The roots explored a little more, rising up to lightly scritch behind Fountanne’s ears, and inspect the blade on his head.

Mako | Musica

His other hand came around to gently scratch the Meowth's cheek, just under the ear, a very faint smile lifting on his lips as the purr began to join in the conversation. Peeking back at Tulip, Mako pondered a moment, lips pursing, and eyes narrowing, "I guess going in deep water could be dangerous for something so small as her." he mentioned under his breath, mostly thinking aloud. Maybe she'd be interested in doing so once she played with Flua on land. After all, the large leviathan could carry her out into the large water, and procure a pool of sorts for her even, that wasn't too uncomfortably deep.

Fountanne hummed a little "Soollll~" under his own breath, to show his pleasure of the roots handiwork along his fur, head tilting towards their scritches. Shaking his head, Mako smiled even a little more, "Looks like they'll probably be pals, then, at least." it was in that moment that an idea struck him. Blinking a moment, surprised by himself, he gave Zhira a parting scratch, before standing upright. There was a sagging bulge on his back where the Emolga had nested under his shirt, which tightened up when the trainer stood. Digging into the bowl of the pasta and veggies, he pulled out a few of the raw veg and walked over to Hatch, bending to offer him some, "I think... maybe if you start offering treats and stuff to Emile, he might start coming around." he frowned, "Maybe... at least... it sorta... kinda worked with another trainer, once." he paused again, shrugging, "In.. a way." it was a long shot, but.. it might be for the better if they tried to get Emile to warm up a little to what would probably be his new housemates. Besides, Mako didn't want to cause more issues for someone else.

Hatch | Corney

When the attention left him, Zhira huffed a little, but wasn’t as grumpy as before. He stood, stretched, and walked over to leap gracefully onto to small couch to curl up and relax.

Looking over at the offered tidbits, Hatch smiled hopefully. Mako wanted Emile to get along... Maybe Mako really didn’t mind the idea of them living together! As Mako kept elaborating on the success of the last trainer who had tried to befriend Emile, he sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “That’s very reassuring..” he murmured playfully, cocking his head to look at the lump of shirt that Emile was hiding in. “Emile... Would you like something to eat? ..I have a couple veggies you can have.”

Tulip had eventually settled and relaxed atop Fountanne. However, she heard “treats” and perked right back up, slipping off of the absol and scurrying over to stare up at Mako. “Bellsprout!”

Mako | Musica

Fountanne perked up as the Bellsprout scurried from the confines of his fur, and off to join the two trainers again, resting his head back onto his paws to continue relaxing.

Emile perked up slightly at the mention of treats. The swell in Mako's shirt shifted around, crawling up the small trainers back to pop out a little head from the back of the collar, large ears twitching, nose wiggling. Staring at the offered treats, his eyes narrowed, before leaning closer, climbing up onto Mako's shoulder. He warily watched Hatch, giving him sharp glares all the while... but he still moved forward. But when Tulip came forward, he hunched, and pressed to Mako's neck, nose wrinkling, "Emol...." he growled lowly, at the threat to his treats!

Hatch | Corney

He felt a flicker of hope as Emile began to shift around, stifling the laugh that wanted to rise. Seeing the bulge rise and move under Mako’s shirt was almost like something from a horror movie! He held the treats up so that they could be plainly seen. Not a trap or trick. Just treats. When Tulip hurried over, Hatch glanced down and sighed, nudging her with his foot gently. “These aren’t for you, Tulip. You have treats at home that you can have when we get back. You have to wait though. If you keep begging, you won’t get them.”

Tulip gave Hatch a rather indignant look before turning to march back to Fountanne, returning to her place on top of him with her roots coiling firmly, turning the back of her blossom to the humans.

Hatch gave Emile an apologetic smile. “Don’t worry. I know these are for you.” His hand inched a little bit closer, to where Emile could reach them if he left the vicinity of Mako’s neck

Mako | Musica

Watching the Bellsprout get chastised and shooed away, Emile glared at her, not appreciating his treats being threatened! Glancing back to Hatch, sizing him up again, he returned to sniffing cautiously at the outstretched treats, taking a few more small steps further onto Mako's shoulder for a better inspection. When his little nose was just nearly touching the treats, warily glancing to Hatch's face, fingers, then the offered food, he made a quick snatch of the treats, and quickly pulled back to curl around behind Mako's neck, popping up on the other shoulder to sit and start nibbling on the snack as rodents do.

Smirking, Mako rose a brow, looking from the corner of his eye at the Emolga, "Well.. I guess that's... something." it was a step, not a huge progressive one, but one nontheless. He'd gotten closer to Hatch without biting him, or shocking him, so that was a plus. "Hopefully more repetition will help."

Fountanne slowly lifted his head as Tulip rejoined him, turning it to peek at the disgruntled flower with an amused grin of his own. Leaning down, he gave her a light lick on the top of her bulb in reassurance.

Hatch | Corney

The lightning quick snag of the veggies made him blink in surprise, and then brought up a chuckle. “Reminds me of when you offered that pokeball to Tulip. She wasn’t too sure at first, either~” he said, looking back at the sulking plant. Watching Emile snacking on the treats, he smiled lightly. A step was a step; especially concerning someone who disliked you.

Tulip gave a squeak when the lick came, the sensation very new to her. Blossom cocking slightly, she leaned forward to give Fountanne’s cheek a curious nuzzle.

Mako | Musica

Raising a hand, Mako scritched underneath the little Emolga's chin, gaining a few wet particles of veggie on the finger tip in the process, "that's true.." he murmured, "Thanks for... not getting upset with him, or anything.." he mumbled quietly, watching as Emile feasted away on the veggies til they were totally gone. The rodent went on to grooming himself fervently, and rapidly, from tiny paws, to wiping his face, and even raising his paws up over his ears to clean behind there too. "He may not look it, or act it, but he's actually really sweet, and stuff." Mako assured, shrugging, "Just misunderstood."

Fountanne gave a chuckle like growl when the Bellsprout reacted to his brush of comfort, blinking curiously when the gentle nuzzle was returned back. Closing his eyes, he kept still for the tiny sprout, a small "Sol~" murmured in appreciation.

Hatch | Corney

He cocked his head, wondering why Mako would have thought he’d get mad, but rather than question it, he just nodded. “No problem.” It was quite adorable to watch Emile clean up after the snack. As Mako elaborated on Emile’s personality, he couldn’t help staring a moment before chuckling lightly. “Yeah? I know a few people like that~” Grinning, he turned to head for the couch and sat next to Zhira, scratching the top of the feline’s head. “Hey. I brought you out to make friends, not sit here by yourself.”

Zhira cracked an eye open, huffed, and jumped down from the couch. However, rather than go try being nice with Fountanne, he helped himself to trotting down the short hallway to find the bedroom and hopped up to get comfortable on one of Mako’s pillows.

“Zhira..” Hatch groaned as the meowth strutted off down the hall. He would have chased after, but he didn’t want to barge into where Mako’s bedroom probably was. Standing in front of the couch, he looked over at Mako apologetically. Is it okay if he goes back there? He’s probably just going to sleep.”

Tulip’s sour mood naturally did not last long. The absol was making happy noises, so why should she be upset? Forgetting about the rejected treats, she settled on giving Fountanne more nuzzles. “Bell, bellsprout~” she cooed back softly.

Mako | Musica

Standing slowly, he dusted himself off, and adjusted his slightly ruffled shirt, thanks to Emile. Righting it, he put away the rest of the pasta, covering it with saran wrap, and popped it into the fridge for leftovers the following day. Walking to join Hatch, he crossed his arms and watched as Zhira trotted off on his own, going where he so very pleased. Snorting with amusement, he gave a dismissive wave of a little hand, "He's fine." he assured, though.. he hoped the feline wouldn't tear into any of the numerous plushies he had in there, mostly piled on his bed.

Plopping down on the couch, he pulled up his legs to sit with them folded like a pretzel, Emile scurrying down to circle and curl up into a tight little ball in the tiny trainers lap. Stroking the ball of fur, Mako pursed his lips thoughtfully, "So.. how'd you come by getting Zhira, anyway?" he figured that was a safe enough topic, and area to pry into.

Hatch | Corney

Giving a nod of understanding, he listened a moment before settling back down. Zhira was usually pretty good about not destroying things, so he wasn’t too worried. More that the feline might try to make a cozy spot cozier...

He looked over as Emile curled up and smiled. It was always nice to see the good relationships between other trainers and their pokemon... Mako’s questions made him look up with surprise, and then he smiled. “He was a rescue at my mom’s clinic. Just a little one at the time. The people he was living with.. they left without Zhira and his family... His parents actually brought him and his siblings to the clinic on a day I was observing. I kept them company while they waited to get taken care of. I guess they liked me, because while my mother was talking to some of the other workers about finding a home for the meowths, the mother meowth brought Zhira over and set him in my lap. ..She was rather insistent on it.” He blushed slightly and scratched an ear. “His siblings got adopted, and his parents were adopted together, and Zhira stayed with me.”

Looking over to Mako, he nodded, “What about Emile? How’d you get him?”

Mako | Musica

Listening and stroking Emile, there was a small, sort of relieved like sigh that silently escaped the small trainer, seen by the relaxation his shoulders posture took on. It was always a comfort to hear of others taking in orphaned Pokemon. Far too many times he'd seen the opposite, and worse... refusing to let his mind wander to that, he scritched behind Emile's large ears, "Glad there's some people like you and your mom who value Pokemon's lives." he complimented in a mutter, followed by an affirmative nod. When it was Emile who was prompted now, he looked down that the ball, brows drawing. "Back home... he was supposed to be some rich woman's house pet, or something.." he mumbled, "some kids stole him, and abused him. Tried to sell him, or put him in fights he clearly wasn't going to win, to try and win some bucks..." gently lifting up the Emolga, he laid the rodent on its back. Emile blinked up at Mako curiously, nose twitching, but accepting of the new position. Lightly gripping the membrane of skin and fur between one of the Emolga's front arms, and legs, to show the 'wing' his lips pressed as his voice hardened, "he was really badly beat up. Couldn't glide anymore with how deep the cuts were he had here. Sick, malnourished and dehydrated... " letting Emile's 'wing' go, the emolga balled up on its back, pulling up its tail to groom idly, "and when the rich lady saw him like that, when I found him after taking care of those idiots, and brought him to her, well..." he scoffed, "she didn't like what she saw anymore, and decided she didn't want him anymore.." he grumbled.

Hatch | Corney

His brow rose when Emile’s story was started, and then it slowly knit into a tight line. His lips pressed with irritation as the abuse was revealed, and he felt his belly ache a little. “F---ing psychos,” he growled sharply, crossing his arms. “They deserve to go through the same thing they put the pokemon through, and then left out in the woods to fend for themselves.” His tone was angry, and very un-Hatch-like. Though, stories like that brought out the anger in the young healer. People like Mako described stood against everything that he was living and working for... Brow rising back up, he blushed deeply and turned his face away. “Sorry... I’ve just... seen a lot like that come to the clinic... It makes me sick.” Blowing out a slow breath, he looked back at Mako and smiled. “And then there are people like you... and I feel a bit better about the world. You seem to value them just as much as I do.”

Mako | Musica

It was surprising, even for Mako, to hear and see Hatch suddenly get riled up in a bad way. Blinking over at the usually--well, from what he's experienced and seen of so far--calm, and carefree Hatch, it was also a bit comforting to know that even he had a side to him that wasn't all sunshine and butterflies. With a click of his tongue, he gave a curt nod, brows furrowing again, "I know, right?" he grumbled irritably in turn. "It's sickening.." his fingers fussed lightly with the Emolga's stretched skin, running over the covered scar that still remained under that beautiful, silken coat. "I nursed him back to health the best I could, with the help of the Poke Center, but... can't do much for the emotional, and mental scars.." his voice trailed off, lips pressing again to repress his own emotions that were starting to p***k at the back of his throat. Glancing over the Hatch, he gave a small, understanding nod, huffing quietly, "I don't know how you do it... I get thrown into a rage any time I see that sorta stuff.." Sharza's trainer, well ex-trainer, was lucky they weren't there when Mako and Hatch found her. Or else it would not have been a pretty picture. The little compliment naturally made Mako's cheeks blossom with heat, and redness too, looking off as if it were nothing, and to try and avoid the eyes he felt on him, "well of course." he stated matter-of-factly. Emile gave a stretch of his little body, and a mighty yawn, casting a sudden glance to Hatch as if unsure to relax that much. Glaring at the other trainer, he bumped his head to Mako's hand to request more attention, the small hands obliging as they returned to rubbing behind the large radars atop the tiny rodents head.

Hatch | Corney

Brow cocking slightly, he looked down at his hands. “It... took a while to learn how to hold it back,” he admitted. “In the clinic though.. it’s all about the pokemon. No matter how angry we are at the person who caused the injuries, a healer’s first priority is helping the pokemon... After a while, it becomes habit to just push those feelings and impulses aside for the sake of others..” He shrugged slightly. “We’re taught to put a lot of things aside in order to do what we need to do.” Glancing at Emile, he chuckled lightly at the sweet display. “They’re worth it, right?”

Mako | Musica

That... made sense. But still. He wouldn't ever be able to do that. He knew himself, and how his passion often got th best of him. He'd definitely make a scene, or worse... It was amiable for Hatch to show restraint and control over things like that. Nodding slowly to express his understanding, he gave a little sigh of his own, "I wouldn't make for a very good healer, then.." he mumbled under his breath. "But... yeah.. I get what you mean. Important to know to keep yourself in control.. " rubbing under Emile's chin, which promptly lifted up, Mako's features softened some, "Yeah... I guess.. there are times I can do that. Just... probably not in the way you do." he muttered. Blushing again, he looked off again too, "I tend to act before I think things through fully..." which was probably already notable

Hatch | Corney

He smiled with understanding and nodded. “Guess my mom’s a pretty good trainer. ..I bet you’ll like her if you get to meet her at the clinic. Depends on if she’s in surgery or an emergency when you come.” He cocked his head slightly with a little grin. “Or would you rather I pretend you’re just another client coming in that I don’t know?” He chuckled lightly at Mako’s comment on himself. “Well, like mom says, if everyone was the same, the world would be pretty darned dull~”

Mako | Musica

Meeting his mom, huh? Well that'd be a first. He fidgeted a little bit, nervously, and slightly uncomfortably, adjusting his glasses far too much and many times than really needed or necessary. Clearing his throat, he resumed his usual firm expression on his features, focusing his attention intently on just Emile, "doesn't matter to me. I wouldn't want to embarrass you or anything." he muttered shortly, snorting sourly, "I'm not exactly rainbows and Butterfree, after all.."

Hatch | Corney

He noticed Mako’s tension rising, and tried to make himself back off a little bit. “So, you think you’d embarrass me because you’re not made of rainbows?” He chuckled lightly and shook his head. “You’re.. well, you’re the closest I’ve had to a friend... You don’t need to impress her. Just say hi is all. ...She’ll be happier having a face to go with the name when we find a place... ‘cause I won’t be saying anything until we actually get something..” he murmured.

Mako | Musica

Blush heating him all over again, he focused back on Emile to distract, petting the silky fur soothingly, "Well, I just don't want to cause any trouble for you." he retorted with the faintest hint of a pout. What if the mom found him to be too unlikable, or unfavorable to be around her son? Then what? He could kiss those home visits for Sharza goodbye, and a new place to live. Lips pressing nervously, he fiddled with the Emolga's tail, glancing to Hatch from the corner of his eye. Slowly, his head turned to face the other trainer, staring and blinking at him incredulously. "Wait... you don't have any friends, either...?" he asked slowly, one brow rising, before they both lowered to furrow as he squinted suspiciously at Hatch. Looking the other teen up and down, as if searching for some kind of fault that might repel others from him, he shook his head dismissively, "That can't be true. You're so nice, and caring, and all that crap." he mumbled, refusing to believe such nonsense. There was no way he, a rough around the edges, pipsqueak of a seventeen year old, was the first friend-like relationship Hatch had. Though that last comment didn't slip past him entirely, "guessing you've got family dynamic problems too then, huh?" he asked in a more softer tone.

Hatch | Corney

“Well, I think that as long as you don’t outright call her something insulting, you should be good.” He fiddled his fingers around until the shocked question rose. He looked over at Mako, and quickly back down to his hands, blush deepening on his cheeks. “Just being nice to someone doesn’t make them my friend,” he murmured. “I have people I get along with.. but it’s not the same thing...” Fingers twiddling and fiddling nervously, his eyes shifted a little more away. He was often told that he was overcomplicating things, but he’d always felt like he had “people he got along with” rather than actual “friends.” He’d never had someone over for a sleepover like most kids did. He didn’t go over to their homes for dinner. He didn’t share secrets with them, and the idea of sharing an apartment with anyone was little more than an idle thought. He’d only suggested it once before, and that hadn’t turned out well... The mention of his family made him drop his head a little more. “...My dad.. isn’t exactly.. happy with what I’ve chosen to do...” he murmured. “Wanted me to become an ace trainer like him, but I’ve never been interested in it. He’s taking it personally, as though I chose to not be a trainer simply because he wants me to be one, and refuses to see it any other way. ..I have a younger sister who’s following his footsteps. He’s made her hate me, too.” Blinking quickly, he looked over to Mako and smiled. “But you don’t have to worry about them. When you bring Sharza over for her check-ups, dad will be at work and my sister will be in school. You won’t have to deal with them at all.”

Mako | Musica

Watching Hatch, his brows kept knit, confused, and surprised all at the same time. He really couldn't believe it... he would have imagined Hatch to be one of those popular kids, who always had people fawning over them, and hanging out with them 24/7. It seemed odd that he even took time out of his day to spend with a sailor like Mako. But as the other trainer began to explain, Mako relaxed his expression, and slowly gave a subtle nod of understanding. He could get that. While he had trouble making friends at all, he was still picky and particular about who he considered a friend, and who he allowed to get close to him at various degrees and levels. "Fair enough.." he muttered in reply. "Still... it's a shame. Someone like you... definitely deserves a whole slew of friends." he declared matter-of-factly. "they must be idiots." that was the only conclusion that made sense in his mind. Back on topic of family, his jaw tightened, as he listened. A soft 'tsk' sounded too, irritated with Hatch's father just by what he heard, "What a moron.." he grumbled under his breath, "I hate people like that. Who dictates what anyone will be, or should be, or act, or wear, or declare themselves as." he growled, lifting a hand to annoyingly adjust his glasses again. He was all too aware of that sort of mentality, and it pissed him off! "It's not their life, it's yours. To do with it as you please." he stated firmly. Taking a breath to calm down, he gave another little nod, stroking Emile's pelt again, "Good. I'm pretty sure I'd make things worse if I did meet 'um..." it wasn't easy for him to hold his tongue. And he was certain that would cause problems for Hatch.....

Throughout the whole of the conversation, Emile was constantly peeking over at Hatch, and evaluating and sizing him up. While he still possessed a glare for the healer, it was lessening bit by bit as the other expressed a non-hostile nature, nor threatening one. Paired with the stories that were being swapped... the small, reactive rodent was starting to tip towards intrigue rather than being defensive.

Hatch | Corney

His eyes widened slightly as Mako spoke so pointedly about him needing more friends. It made the heat on his cheeks deepen, and he looked back down. He would love to have a lot of friends... but... “Thanks..” he murmured softly, his lips twitching as a hesitant smile rose. Mako sure was an interesting fellow.

He smirked slightly as his father was ranted about. “Yeah... and I’m trying to lead my life as I want to, so things aren’t so good between me and him... He’s either ignoring me or screaming at me.” He shook his head and pulled that smile back up. “It doesn’t matter though. I have mom, and she supports me when she can.” And.. and maybe he could get free once he moved into a place with Mako... He didn’t want that on Mako’s shoulders though. That would be the worst... “So, Mako, if you don’t mind... why don’t you live with your parents anymore?” he asked softly.

Mako | Musica

He tried to think. He himself hadn't any friends to introduce Hatch to, but... maybe some people at the bakery would get along well with the guy? There was a girl who worked there, who was their age.... maybe she'd do. Mentally filing that away for later. Still, he really felt for Hatch. Troubles at home was something he was all too well acquainted with. When the question was spun around on him, he tensed, and his petting of Emile stopped. Pressing his lips, he hunched a little, a sadness surprisingly taking to his angry expression. Emile sensed the tension, and blinked up at Mako, ears folding back nervously. Standing up, scooping Emile into his arms, Mako looked at the little Wailmer clock on his wall, "Why don't we get some ice cream." he suddenly suggested, completely bypassing Hatch's question, "sometimes they have casteliacones, if we're lucky." he walked back over to the kitchen, setting Emile up on the counter as he dug around in his bag for his wallet to make sure he had some spare cash for an ice cream.

Fountanne looked up from his snuggling with Tulip as Mako came by, blinking curiously at his trainers shifted mood, watching him rather intently.

Hatch | Corney

Practically feeling the air change, he physically leaned back a bit to give Mako some space. What had...? He straightened up when Mako jumped up, lips pressing slightly. That must be a really sore spot... He looked around at the available pokemon, frowning when he took in their reactions to their trainer’s mood shift. Even Tulip had raised her blossom head, looking around curiously. While he’d rather Mako save his money, he also could tell he’d made things awkward without meaning to, and didn’t want to end his day with Mako on such a sour note. “Sure... Ice cream sounds good,” he agreed with a small smile, pushing himself to stand. “Zhira. Come on back out. We’re getting dessert.” He waited at the end of the hall, and started tapping his foot after a few seconds. “Zhira! Ice cream!” A few seconds... still nothing. He groaned and tipped his head against the wall. “Would you go get him, Mako? Unless you don’t mind me looking for him?”

Mako | Musica

Leafing through the few bills he had stashed in his wallet, along with a few coin, he looked up as Hatch called to him, nodding his head upwards in a 'go ahead' gesture. "I don't mind you going back there." he confirmed even further. In his room, it would be as sparse as the rest of his home, with just his small bed, a rinky dink desk, and a tiny bookcase, with a dresser beside it. His walls had lots of water Pokemon posters and pictures along it, some photographs taken, others magazine clippings. There were nautical shots too, but the focal point was his bed... it had tons of Poke plushes on it, ranging in size, type, and style. The comforter was blue gradient coloured with Net Balls, and Heartscales, and other aquatic items decored. It was plush and fluffy, with a quilt folded at the foot of the bed. There were papers, books, and folders on his desk, semi-messsily stacked, and cute little figurines of items, and Pokemon alike there.

Hatch | Corney

With a small nod, he headed on down the hall to go after his snobbity little meowth. He tried to not look around too much, but he couldn’t help it in the bedroom. Everything was decorated around Mako’s dream... It was the best thing he’d ever seen! He walked over to the bed and sighed. Zhira was curled up in a ball right in the pile of plushed pokemon. “You fit right in, you lazy thing,” he teased, earning a slight eyes crack open. “Come on. We’re getting ice cream.”
Finally, Zhira yawned, sloooooooowly stretched each leg, gave his ears and tail a few flicks, and then hopped onto Hatch’s shoulder to perch on.

“You’re too big for one shoulder,” he pouted, waiting for the meowth to stretch out more comfortably across his shoulders instead. Skritching Zhira’s ears, he headed back out to the main room. “Sorry, Tulip, but you’re going back into your ball for the trip. I don’t want you tearing up Mako’s apartment, and I can’t have you stealing everyone’s ice cream either.”

The bellsprout looked up with a rather disappointed expression, but slid off of Fountanne’s back reluctantly. She vanished into her pokeball, which was tucked safely into the pack.

With everything sorted in the kitchen, he glanced down to the Absol, and Bellsprout duo who'd started to bond. No surprise, given that Fountanne was overly friendly and tolerant. Really... his trainer could learn a thing or two from him. With Emile climbing back up onto his shoulder, giving a concerned nosing to the petite travelers cheek, Mako snorted softly, and pulled his bag back over his shoulder in preperation to go. When Hatch and Zhira returned, he gave them a side glance, before looking to Tulip as she was returned to her Poke Ball. "Hold down the fort, Fountanne." he muttered idly to the dark type, that rubbed against his legs in passing, as Mako headed to the door. He looked back to make sure Hatch was following, waiting for him to come out, lock the door behind them, before leading the way. Tapping down the stairs, he squinted up at the setting sun, brows furrowing farther than needed, "Hopefully his stands still out..." the usual ice cream man by the park did stay into the night, since it was also a nice place to hang out at, given the scenery, the perfect view of the stars... well, it was a hotspot for some dates, and youths with their romantic interests.

Hatch | Corney

Slinging his pack over one shoulder, making Zhira adjust a little so the strap went under the feline, he followed readily. He watched Mako a moment before pushing the inquiries from his mind. If it caused such a reaction, it wasn’t his place to know yet. Leaving his bike, he walked alongside Mako and stretched his arms, making Zhira grip his shirt slightly to stay in place. “Good evening for a walk,” he observed, a small smile rising. Even if the ice cream stand was closed, he would consider it worth the walk. After all, aside for the brief awkward moments, he was quite enjoying spending time with the guy that he hoped would become his friend...

He was a bit distracted now, from the question, which left his expression looking rather vacant. But once Hatch spoke up, he blinked to refresh himself, and looked around them, then to the sky. Yes... it was really nice, this evening... "This towns lucky for their nice weather." he added on in agreement, "not many days you'll see it overcast, or having crazy storms." Emile peeked out from behind Mako's hair to also take a look around, admiring the beautiful sky that was painted with magenta's, pinks, purples, and blues, fading from the dark navy that was encroaching. But as soon as he saw Zhira not too far off, he instantly ducked back in with a displeased "Emol..!"

Looking over to Hatch, from the corner of his eyes, Mako adjusted his glasses, and cleared his throat, "It's not something I really talk about... at all. Or have, to anyone." he muttered, in a late, and delayed response to the topic that'd caused the slight hiccup in their time spent together. While it only seemed fair he answer Hatch back, since had answered too, he wasn't... sure he was ready yet. As they followed the lazily winding path in the park, him moving to avoid a few couples that were out and about, giggling and holding hands, and smooching, he was able to spot the small ice cream stand just ahead, making him perk up a little, "Ever get stuff from here?" he asked idly, reaching into his pocket, to finger through his Pokeyen again.

Hatch | Corney

Nodding along, he reached up to idly pet Zhira’s silky tail. Mako’s comment made him look over, needing a moment to realize what the other teen was talking about, and then smiled lightly. “You don’t have to explain anything that you don’t want to,” he replied. While it wasn’t as though he told everyone about the rocky relationships at home, he’d somehow felt comfortable enough to tell Mako back at the apartment. Hopefully Mako didn’t think him a sap or something... When the ice cream stand was pointed out, he shook his head. “I don’t think so.” He copied Mako’s motions, pulling out an old wallet to pick through and see what he had to spend.

It felt nice, just hearing Hatch's confirmation. He already knew that, but... it was still nice to hear. A small nod was made in a means of thanks, sparing one more glance to the other trainer before stepping up to the ice cream stand. It was one of those wheelable ones, with a cloth top that kept the sun from beating down on the frozen food during the day. The owner manning it gave a wide smile to the youths, noticing Mako right away. He was an older gentleman, heavy set, with plenty of hair from head to toes, "Evenin', boys! What can I getcha then? We've got it all!" he gestured to the plastic covering that kept the ice creams contained, but revealed their flavors. Colours were vibrant, and the flavors ranged from simple to exotic mixtures from different berries across the land. Frowning, Mako looked along the options rather seriously, as though it were such a huge decision weighing on him. Finally, he placed a finger on one of the labels for the ice cream, the name perhaps a bit too extravagant than need be. 'Luvdisc's Sour Suprise!'... the man had a way with cheesy names, that was clear. But he got to work scooping out the bright pink and vibrant yellow mixed ice cream, packing it firmly onto a plain cone, looking to Hatch once in awhile while doing so, "And what about you, m'boy?"

Hatch | Corney

He leaned over with Mako to check out the various flavors. There were some wild sounding flavors... He wasn’t sure he was adventurous enough for some of them... He waffled a little between flavors before settling on one. “I’ll just have the Diglet Delight,” he replied, which was essentially chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips throughout. He took his cone once it was filled, paid, thanked the vendor, and took a small bite. It really was good! “Good suggestion~” he praised, taking a larger bite soon after. “Been a while since I’ve had ice cream.”

Mako | Musica

With his cone in possession, he turned it a few times to look at the various sides, and the vibrant colours dancing with one another. There were even a few chunks of their designated berry here and there! Emile peeked his tiny head out too from behind Mako's to sniff daintily at the frozen treat, to which the trainer lifted the cone a little higher for the rodent to get an even better inspection. After a few more twitches of that fast moving nose, a n** was given to the ice cream, dislodging a chunk of berry, before retreating back to the curtain of hairs cover. Now it was Mako's turn. He lifted the ice cream to his face, tongue flickering out to stroke along the cold contents, quite pleased with the electrifying sour and sweet that coated his tongue. A perfect combo! With their orders done and paid for, Mako gave a small nod of his head, and tilted it briefly in a 'come on' gesture to continue down the pathway, "really? I get it a lot during the summer. Usually after taking everyone to the beach." he commented, between licks of his ice cream.

Hatch | Corney

He watched Mako share with Emile, smiling lightly. That was cute. He glanced over at Zhira, who simply cracked an eye, yawned, and laid his head back down. “Lazy bum,” he teased. Walking alongside the other teen, he shook his head. “My parents never got it for at home, so I guess I just never really thought about it. It was more a snack for when we went out than as a regular treat.” He licked at a dribble of the ice cream as it tried to sneak down the cone, and sighed contently. “Do the others like ice cream, too, or is it only Emile who picks at it?”

Mako | Musica

He couldn't help shooting a look of mild disbelief to his new companion, brow crooked and all. Snorting softly with amusement, he shook his head, "That's a first.." he murmured. His attention veered off to watch as a trainer walked by with their Galvantula, intrigued by the rather intricate markings and colours of the bug/electric type, before he looked back ahead of them, stopping only once they reached the street on the other side of the park. Watching cars wizz by, he glanced at his shoulder to where he could just barely see little Emile hidden in his peripheral vision, "Fountanne doesn't care for it much. But Flua seems to enjoy it." he snorted again with faint amusement, "though it's hard to get enough for him to be considered more than just a sampling..." the cone they had would be like a single drop to the Milotic! licking the frozen treat consistently, he looked up at the sky, before side glancing to Hatch, "Have a time you need to start heading back home?"

Hatch | Corney

The disbelief surprised him, and actually made him chuckle lightly. “I grew up in a bubble~” he explained playfully. There was much of the world he hadn’t had the chance to experience yet. While he wasn’t all that interested in getting out to see the world, seeing a little more than his parent’s apartment was desired. He smiled as the tastes of the pokemon were laid out. “I know Tulip enjoys it. The little bit she had encouraged her to eat mine, too. Hence, why she’s in her pokeball~” he snorted and took another lick of his treat. Head tilting, he looked at his watch and shook his head. “No, not really. I don’t work at the clinic until late tomorrow morning. You?”

Mako | Musica

The guy must have been telling the truth, if he hadn't had ice cream all that much. What a shame. But he wasn't all that surprised to learn of Tulips love for ice cream, snorting lightly in response, "I'd guess she'd try anything, if she can fit it into her petals, huh?" he wagered, giving Hatch a sidelong glance. When the coast was clear to cross the road, his head also tilted to get at an edge portion that was beginning to droop from all the ice cream he'd scooped from just one side. Sparing a peek at the watch that Hatch checked, he licked up the rest of the side he'd tended to, before shaking his own head, "No, not really." Looking off, he gazed into the distance where the beach lay, "We could head to the beach, for awhile. The sun set's really nice there." he suggested... before fiddling with adjusting his glasses quickly afterwards, upon realizing how that might have sounded, "I mean, it's nice to see the waves, and stuff." he quickly added, in an almost defensive kinda tone. Didn't want the other trainer getting the wrong idea, or anything after all!

Hatch | Corney

Mako’s surmising of Tulip’s antics brought out an open laugh. “Pretty much!” Tulip was such a silly little thing... Mako wanted to go to the beach? ..Did that mean he was enjoying their time together? Maybe they really would become friends then! He blinked with surprise at the suddenly defensive stature, and then smiled. “Sounds good to me!” he replied brightly. Dinner, ice cream, and a trip to the beach with his new friend? ..What more could a guy ask for?

Mako | Musica

It was too bad he hadn't brought Flua's Poke Ball with him... but it was no matter. The Milotic was taken out everyday, and would be brought out tomorrow. With the decision made, he nodded and began to guide them there. As they left the boarder of the streets and pavement, he could see there were a few people on the bach already, playing a game of volleyball, and running about. They looked to bea bout he and Hatch's age range, all in swimsuits of different kinds. Wrinkling his nose a little, Mako trudged on, tiny booties sinking into the sand as they hit the unstable grounding. Emile poked his head out when they hit a change of scenery, sniffing about, and eyeing the strangers on the horizon. He too expressed his dislike, squeaking in displeasure, before scurrying along Mako's shoulders to pop up on the other side and scan around there. Glancing to the rodent, Mako walked a little ways off from where the majority of the other teens were playing, feeling himself tense some when he noted that a pair were sharing a rather romantic moment by the rocks towards the back of the beach.

Hatch | Corney

He stuffed the remaining bite of the cone into his mouth, wiping his hands onto his shorts. He looked over at the crowd, and then at Mako. The other teen’s distaste for the group was plain to see, and he wasn’t about to make a fuss. He wanted to finish Mako day with Mako! When he caught sight of the pair ‘hidden’ away, he blushed hotly and spun to face toward the water, keeping his back determinedly to the couple. “Looks like the beach is the place to be~” he observed with a little laugh, awkwardly dismissing the various scenes around them.

Zhira finally stirred as the sounds of the waves sloshing along the shore grew. His tail twitched contently, and his nose lifted slightly to sniff the breeze. While he wasn’t a big fan of the water, he did enjoy the beach... Even if an annoying emolga was there as well.

Mako | Musica

His own cone was flat along the top by now, but still contained some of the ice cream tucked away in the cones handle. But he continued to scoop out with his little tongue, taking his time on relishing the remaining bit inside. Hatch's comment made him give a small grunt of disapproval, "Normally it's not like this..." he grumbled, glaring towards the rowdy bunch of teens, as he found a nice spot in the sand to pop a squat, and sit. Plopping down on his rump, he crossed his legs, and little Emile scurried down his arm to take post onto one of the trainers knees. Sniffing around, he did a wide scan again. Normally, he'd take to the air for an aerial view... but with all the youths about, he felt it safer to stay within the safety of his caretakers vicinity.

But Mako's attention was to the sea, gazing at it like one would to a loved one. It was so calming, so soothing.... everything else could be shut out when the eb and flow of the live water was present. It also made him itch to go into the water, too... Annoyingly, his good mood was stunted quickly, when the volleyball from the game down the way came flying all the way over, and smacked into the sand right in front of where he sat, causing a spray of it to slap him right in the face. It covered and ruined the rest of his ice cream, and dirtied his glasses, clumps of it finding every crevice in his clothes...not to mention little Emile's pristine, glossy coat was doused in the stuff now too. The Emolga began to chatter loudly and with swelling rage, tiny body shaking briskly to get rid of the sand as best it could, sparks starting to flash from his cheeks... before a strong bolt shot out from his mini body, zapping the volleyball, popping it, and charring it black.
