MERIKH'S PROFILE
Character Name: Merikh Cahal
Stage: Expert
Path: Battle
Race: Oblivionite
Class: Warrior
Gender: Male
Weapon: Two-Handed Sword
Skin: Gray with some silvery blue tattoos under his eye sockets.
Eyes: N/A
Hair: Dark blue with brighter blue highlights
Distinguishing Features: Lack of eyes, silvery blue tattoos under his eye sockets, and long, pointed ears.
Personality:
~ Driven: His parents are powerful, important people, one is a well known mage as well as a Lady, and the other a swords woman that has been in countless battles and has defeated more opponents then she can count. Due to his parents being so amazing in his eyes he knows that he has to work hard if he is going to become someone as strong as they are. He does his best to train with his mother as often as he can, not wanting to learn from anyone but 'the best' which is what he believes her to be.
Much to his displeasure she has yet to allow him a weapon of his own but he knows that it just means that he will have to try that much harder so that he is allowed a weapon of his own one day. What he really wants is a sword like hers... but for the moment he can't even pick her sword up so the odds of him getting that particular sword is pretty well nil. Still, a guy can dream, right? One day he will have a sword as big as the one that his mother carries on her back, of that he is certain.
~ Spoiled: Due to being an only child, as well as the only grandchild on his mother's side, Merkih is terribly spoiled by by his parents, as well as his grandfather. They buy him whatever he wants (save for pets quite yet since they think he isn't ready for them), they bring him everywhere that they go even if it's not a place children might normally be allowed, tell him stories, let him stay up as late as he wants, and he gets away with most everything that he does or says.
It doesn't help that his mother is from a well known, well respected, and important family line thus allowing him to get away with that much more. It's both a blessing and a curse though, for the moment it's a sort of shield that helps him to get away with a lot but outside the walls of the Obsidian City it won't really count for much, especially when dealing with the other races or dragons. It's a lesson he will likely learn in the near future for sure. The words 'do you know who I am' won't really count for much when a dragon is trying to make a meal of him after all.
~ Hero Worship: Everything that his grandfather tells him Merikh is convince is the complete truth, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. The man is a war hero after all and therefore he would never tell a lie about anything that he's seen in the world. If the man told him that he once battled with a three headed Diabi Dragon and defeated it singlehandedly Merkih would be inclined to believe him. It's led him to believe a lot of other things the man has said as well.
~ Biased: Due to how he was raised, the stories he's heard, and being around adults far more then anyone else, Merkih has ended up rather biased in his beliefs. He believes that the Oblivionites are the far superior race due to everything he's heard, even having his views on each of the other races ended up colored by others despite having never met them. Since he is still young there is still the chance that this could change were he to meet with people of the other two races but for the moment he doesn't think too highly of the Orderites or the Dovaa. Given a lot of what he's heard he's heard from his family it will be a difficult road to convince him otherwise.
~ Zero Filter: Merikh tends to speak without thinking, commenting on things as they come to mind instead of considering whether or not it might be a good idea. There are times when its complimentary, other times when it's insulting, and yet other times when it's questioning. While afterwards he will tend to have the good grace to get embarrassed when his words get away from him that isn't always the case.
Quirks:
~ Nicknames: Either because he doesn't care to remember the real names of various people or because he just like to mess with them, either way he tends to give out nicknames to those around him. Some are nice, some less so, and some are just descriptive words used as names. Either way it's just something that he's always done, something that seems to amuse his mothers like nothing else, so they have never bothered to correct him on the matter.
~ Weakness for Cute Things: Merikh is going to end up with an addiction to taming cute things, wanting to have a whole herd of various pets to snuggle up with. Anyone that comments on his love of cute, fluffy critters should prepare for a punch in the face though. While he loves adorable little things he won't tolerate anyone teasing him about it.
~ His Dagger: Whenever he needs to think he tends to work on the dagger he carries with him. He polishes it, sharpens it, cleans the sheath, or other times he just mess with it, using it to clean out from under his nails, throws it at a target, things like that. It's an important item to him even if it's not fit to be anything more then a decoration due to it's size. It was a gift to him and as such something that he wants to take good care of.

Biography/Background:
Mom: Nereza Cahal - Oblivionite Mage
Mother: Mellony Cahal (took Nereza's last name) - Oblivionite Swordswoman
~ A Lady and her Guard: When Nereza was born Mellony was already a prentice and in training to be a swordswoman. Due to her prowess with the blade even when young she was chosen to be the infant Nereza's bodyguard, always there for her, tending to her needs, as well as keeping her safe from any dangers that might befall an infant of such an important family. Mellony was at first a little displeased with the fact that she was taken from her training to babysit an infant but soon released that it was a task she didn't mind all that much. As the two of them grew their feelings changed from that of a guard and her charge into something else, something neither of them quite understood nor would they really voice their thoughts out loud given how strange a situation they were in. It wasn't until it seemed that Nereza was going to be married that Mellony finally acted.
~ The Fiancee and the Duel: Nereza didn't really love her fiancee, which isn't to say that she didn't like him either. The two of them got along well enough, as much as two friends might, but there wasn't anything passed that for them. Nereza was doing her duty, wanting to marry a person that would please her family, and someone that was at least tolerable to her. Not her first choice but still a choice and one that she was willing to go along with were it not for the intervention of the one that she really loved.
A few months prior to the wedding that was being planned for the two of them Mellony confronted her financee, challening the man to a duel for the hand of Nereza, and came out on top. It was due to both her years of training and the fact that she was fighting for something that she really wanted that she bested the man was a damn good swordsman in his own right. After the duel was over she took Nereza and fled with her to her own home, not wanting to leave the mage to face what was sure to be coming on her own.
There was a lot of fall out between the families of Nereza and her fiancee, more due to their parent's bickering then the two of them being upset. Despite neither Nereza or the man himself being all that upset over things reperations had to be made to silence his parents.
The houses of Cahal and Morose found themselves a bit at odds as well as they argued about what should be done about the pair. It was Gethin, Mellony's father, that finally ended it by saying that they were a fine match and reminded Nereza's family that it wasn't as though she was their heir. In fact she was one of several children as well as the youngest, so rather unlikely to be the heir to anything unless some sort of great tradgety struck. It was likely the fact that, at the time, he was still a soldier and had zero time for such silly things that he agreed to such a match so easily. It was something that he grew to like more and more though as time went, especially seeing how well the pair got on and even more so when a grandson came into the picture.
~ Adoption: During times of war there are many little ones that were left without parents, those that went into battle and never returned or there were those who weren't even soldiers who were just killed due to what they were by men who got far too zealous when it came to their beliefs. Merikh's family were one such causalty, a group of civilians that were on the move from one place to another, trying to avoid the coming battle, when they were attacked. The unit that Mellony was a part of at the time came upon the attack, ending the group of rogue Orderites quickly enough. The men that attacked didn't seem to be soldiers given their attire but it didn't do much for her feelings about a group she already destested.
Amongst the bodies of the slaughtered family the only one to have been spared was an infant boy, as though the Orderite, even with all their hate, weren't quite sure what to do with him. Instead of leaving him behind, sending him off to some orphanage, or the various other options suggested to her by her fellow soldiers, Mellony brought the boy home with her to Nereza. She'd been the one to find him and saw him as her responsibility. The plan had been for the boy to stay with them until they were able to figure out where he belonged but after years of searching for any remaining members of his family she gave up the search. It seemed that they weren't to be found and Nereza and Mellony had grown attached to the boy, with him referring to them as his 'Mom' and 'Mother' respectivly, so the desire to see him home had pretty much waned.
They weren't the only ones to grow attached to him either, there was also Gethin, who seemed to have taken well to the idea of getting himself a grandchild, something he was pretty certain wouldn't happen given his only daughter ended up with another woman. When Merikh came into the picture the man couldn't have been happier or more proud, not even seeming to care that they weren't related by blood.
~ A Grandfather's Gift: Nereza's father is a retired with honors warhero, one who sustained injuries that forced him off the battlefield instead of choosing to retire himself, so one tends to hear his various stories over and over and over again. Unlike most who end up sighing and nodding Merikh always seems interested, sometimes mouthing the words along with him or even blurting out the ending in excitement. The storiest, whether a bit embellished for the audience or not, are something that Merikh has been listening to since he was a baby and something he wishes to live up to. When he grew old enough to be considered an apprentice the old oblivionite gave his favorite (as well as only) grand child a bejewled, ornamental dagger that he'd gotten as a reward after one of his battles.
Merkih doesn't go anywhere without the dagger, feeling as though it's not only a gift from a great person but also his good luck charm. So long as he has it with him everything will go right he feels.
~ Home: Merikh and his family live in a large, beautiful home in the Obsidian City along with both of his mothers, their Drakein, and his granfather, all of which makes it quite the lively place. His room, which he doesn't currently share with anyone, has everything in it that a kid would want or need and them some. Anything that he wants or anything his family thinks that he wants is bought for him and put into his room, leaving it on the full side. Despite that though he tends to spend a most of time with his grandfather or his mothers, listening to stories, training in the yard, or just plain enjoying family time.
Thoughts on the Great Engagement: What's there to talk about? The Oblivionites will win the war, take the world for Souldana, and the other races will learn their place in the world, which is to serve their betters. His Grandfather has told him as much and he is inclined to believe the man since he has foufhg tagainst the others. If you ask him it's only a matter of time from the sounds of it. He just doesn't want the war to end before he has his chance to get out there and do his part, wanting to aid his people in battle, as well wanting to become someone as wonderful as his mothers and grandfather.
~ Orderites: From what he gathers they are brightly colored birds with a high and mighty attitude that he, as an Oblvionite, needs to knock down a peg or two. Living within the Obsidian City hasn't really given him too many opportunities to see one, save for those who are prisoners of war, and as such he is inclined to that all he's heard in his grandfather's stories at face value. As such he is more then eager to go to battle against them one day and show them who it is that should be ruling the world.
~ Dovaa: From everything that he has learned about them thus far he doesn't like the sounds of them. They are a race that are related to dragons, something that are seen as powerful and worthy of hunting for their orbs, but instead of being as powerful they hide within a sealed city. Just from that alone he sees them as either cowards who are too afraid to fight and therefore are all hiding somewhere that the battles can't reach them or, and he finds this option worse, that they are opportunists waiting for the other two sides to weaken each other through battle so they can strike. Either way he doesn't care for the Dovaa even in the least bit at the present.
~ Hybrids: Depends on which ones are in question. Any of them with Oblivionite blood in them he sees as having a chance at being something great, so long as they don't fall prey to their 'weaker half'. Those that are without the blood of the Oblivionites though are seen as doubly cursed, doubly weak, and he kind of pities them for being born as such.
Thoughts on the Dragons and Drakeins:
~ Dragons: Their worth lies in their power, both because one can gain orbs from them as well as experience in each battle fought against them. As such Merkih sees no reason why he shouldn't hunt them down, gather their orbs, and use them to better his standing both in his own family as well as in the ranks of the Oblivionites as a whole. He wants power, they grant power to those that kill them, and in his mind what needs to be done is fairly simple and straight forward. He is eager to get a whole pile of the orbs to show off to his family on top of the two that he knows he is to find and deliver to the Oblivionite leader.
~ Drakein: These creatures seem to be rather useful and while he doesn't have one yet he would like to get one at some point. The idea of getting an egg from a Drakein appeals to him due to his weakness for small, cute things, and he really is looking forward to the idea of getting to raise one of them himself. He's seen the big ones that his mothers have, having played with them and climbed all over them since he was able to do so. Still he hasn't had a chance of getting one of them for himself, 'perhaps when you're older' is a phrase that he has heard a lot.
Raising Drakein it seems is a lot of work and his mothers want to make sure that he is ready for such a responsibility before he finds himself bonded to a little creature that will need him to take care of its every need until it's big enough to do such a thing itself. For the time being he just seems to be studying up on them via books and just by asking various questions of those belonging to his family. He feels that, once he is old enough and sufficiently 'ready for it', that his mothers will finally let him get an egg of his own.
~ Merikh is a boy who is as ambitious as he is arrogant. He's aiming for the top, wanting to make himself as well known as other members of his family are. He means to make his name known no matter what it takes! He fights hard, brags a lot, and does his best to in his quest to become someone as strong as his parents and grandfather.
~ Gifted with an assassin bodyguard of his own named Yolana, whom he calls 'Yoyo' Merikh has ventured to Eowyn so that he can train to get stronger. He means to become a grand warrior, one that is able to stand against any enemy that might pose a threat to him. He is he getting stronger but the stronger a person is the more enemies they gain, something that he will learn soon enough.
~ Given the command of an group of soldiers of his own and the title of 'Sargeant' Merikh finds his desires to become a powerful member of the Oblivionite people within his grasp. He has a lot to do now, including dealing with the Mara forces, figuring out who tried to assassinate him, and so on. All in a days work it would seem.

~ A pair of little eggs obtained for Merikh by his mothers, a sort of test run to see if he is ready to get a Drakein egg. These creatures are much smaller and therefore are a good first pet for their son. Merikh is currently taking good care of the pair of eggs, eager to see what hatches from them.
