Merikh nodded, looking at where his sword was resting against the wall, not far from him, within arms reach in case anything showed up that they had to deal with, "I have been training in the way of the sword since I was younger then you, my mother is a master with a blade and there was never any doubt in my mind that I would follow in her footsteps." There were other weapons to pick from, even magic that one could wield, but he'd never cared about any of that. What he cared about was being as strong as his mother was, to wield a sword like she did, and to one day become as famous as her or his grandfather. Giving a bit of a grin he added, "I had to be good at it or else I'd end up getting stuck doing the same, boring drills for hours on end until I showed that I was taking my lessons seriously."
When Gellio mentioned him not looking very worn from the road he said, "We have only been here for a few weeks, before that we were in Soudul in the Obsidian City." He lifted a hand to pat it against the trio of scars that stripped his chest and added, "My family was a bit leery about letting me head out on my own after I got these but finally relented after hiring on Yoyo here to travel with me."
The woman glanced over at Merikh for a moment, then to Gellion before giving a little nod of her head. So long as she was at Merikh's side they were allowed to travel anywhere save for Serenia, not that any Oblvionite in their right mind wanted to go there.
"What about you? You been out in the desert long?" Merkih asked, the boy had made mention of being lost before getting his new map. As such he had to of been here long enough at least to have lost his way at least once. It made him wonder why someone Gellion's age was alone in these parts but figured that the kid would tell him if he wanted to. Otherwise it wasn't really his business to get the kid's life story or anything.
