SwordOfTheDarkOnes

The battle on the ships that Merikh had done, ones that had garnered him some Aiskala orbs and helped to protect Oblivionite ships, were done and over with. He was on his way back home now with his entourage of fellow Oblivionites. The twins Malvalio and Malory were to either side of him and behind the three of them were Igone and Yolana. Igone was chatting away, glad to be back in the big city, where as Yolana was as quiet as ever, keeping an eye out for any sort of danger that might present itself. She was a very protective sort, both due to the fact that it was her job to keep Merikh safe, but also because she'd been with him for so long, years in fact.

As they came to a certain point in now the twins stopped, turning to look at Merikh, "Alright, Boss, this is our stop. We are going to go and check in with our mom, let her know that everything went well, and maybe cleaned up and a change of clothes." Lory said, giving a grin as he motioned to himself as though that explained everything straight away. It was something that had Merikh laughing a little in fact.

"I think a good meal would be nice as well." Valio added, wanting nothing more then to get a bath and a big meal, "We will meet up again soon, though, will you be needing us tomorrow, Boss?"

Merikh's tail swished back and forth for a thoughtful moment before nodding, "Sure, we can meet up tomorrow, maybe see about picking up another bounty like that last one. I think that went rather well myself." It was a good way to get some free prestige and some spending money, not that Merikh needed it personally but it allowed him to pay his men well. Lifting a hand he gave a wave to his warriors as they headed for home before turning to look at Igone and Yolana, "What about you, Iggy? I know that Yoyo will be staying at my side but what about you, you heading home?"

Igone gave a shake of his head, "Naw, my family isn't in the big city, they live out in the country. I will probably stick with you if you don't mind?" He said, giving Merikh a smile.

"That's fine." He said, starting forward one more, the three of them heading toward Merikh's place, a big and fancy place in the nice part of the city. He was so glad that he was heading for home, he wanted to see his mothers, it had been since time since he was home with him being out on the ocean hunting dragons for a while now. He'd sent a messenger ahead the moment he reached the city so when the house came into view he wasn't surprised to see his mothers standing there, what was surprising was the short, masked kid that they had standing between them, "Huh, wonder if they got me a brother." He mused as he headed forward, giving his mom Nereza a hug first, then Mellony, his mother, before he looked down at the masked mystery and asked, "Who's the kid?"

Patreen had been trained since he could walk to "create wonderful Death masks at your Master's order", the child was given his own mask before he left his guild. The child swayed as he stood between the two females, in awe of their shared yet individual beauty. He wondered what sort of masks he could make for them. The child looked at his new master then bowed, "Master. I'm Patreen. Your new Assassin apprentice."

He looked...up. The child mentally paused for a moment before looking at the other two. He was told the Master he would be going to was a male with a small unit. A officer in the army, a man of power. The child looked back up, his long sleeves nearly touching the floor.

Merikh starred down at the boy for a long moment... then started to laugh, sounding quite amused by the fact that the little kid in the mask was declaring himself as being his new assassin apprentice, "That's cute." He murmured before looking over at Yolana, "What do you know of this Yoyo? Your idea? Or just the idea of the guild?" He was curious as to the reason why he had another assassin had been assigned to him when he already had Yolana to serve him. At the same time he had always wanted more then one, feeling that having at least a pair of assassins serving him along with the others that followed him. This one was on the small side but he knew for a fact that size didn't matter, he was out hunting dragons at this kid's age after all and he was sure this one had gone through all sorts of training from those in his guild.

Yolana looked the masked boy over for a long moment, his empty sockets narrowing slightly as she studied the kid, before she finally gave a little shrug. It was obvious she really didn't care all that much, seeing the kid as potential help when it came to keeping Merikh safe. She said nothing though, instead looking away after a time, leaving Merikh to deal with the kid how he wanted to.

Next to her Igone gave a little laugh, "He seems pretty cute, Boss, gonna keep him then?" The archer asked of him in a curious manner, wondering if the little one was going to be joining them when they went out next. He'd been talking about going out on another mission, meaning the kid might be in danger, wouldn't he? Of course he might also be scary strong like Yolana so he wouldn't say that out loud, not wanting either of them on his bad side.

After a moment of though Merikh gave a chuckle, reaching out to tap a finger against the mask between the eye holes in it, and said, "So long as he doesn't mind going to various, dangerous locations despite being an apprentice then I don't mind. It would be rude of us to refuse his help after all." He would just have to look after the tiny assassin was all, to make sure he didn't get in over his head with creatures that might want to eat him up.

Patreen heard the chuckle, pouting beneath his mask the child was going to speak until he heard the others. Holding his words in the child looked at the female. He heard of her in whispers. This was going to be his superior Assassin...the child gulped as she looked over him. He straightened his shoulders trying to look more presentable. Then his attention was turned to the other male...Iggy. Patreen tilted his head, "Keep me? Once we are given to our Master, they own us. If he wants to keep me at his side then I will. If not, I will go where he wants me."

The child let out a squeak at the tap as he then replied, "Of course...I'll slay whatever my Master wants me too."

It took everything that Merikh had not to laugh again when the little guy told Igone in such a heartfelt manner that he belonged to Merikh and would go wherever Merikh needed him. It really was cute, though he supposed he shouldn't say that out loud, huh? He'd always had a weakness for cute things but saying as much to someone who was supposed to be an assassin, it would likely be insulting, huh? Shaking his head he said, "Alright then, Reeny, I see no reason why you can't stay with the group. It will take you a lot of training to get you to the same level as Yoyo after all." He glanced over at the ever silent woman, giving her a smile, before turning back to Patreen once more, "You will need to be introduced to Valio and Lory as well, but that will happen with due time." They were busy after all.

"Once we decide upon our next course of action and what job our unit will be taking on next you will, of course, come along with us for that mission." Tilting his head to one side he got at thoughtful look on his face before he glanced over at Igone, "Do you think we should just throw him off the deep end though? We could see about bringing him out for a hunt or two, let him take a stab at some of the local Ysali that plague the nearby forest?" He didn't want his new little assassin to get swallowed up because they went back to fighting big, dangerous things without assessing his skill level fight, that would be a waste.

Igone seemed to think about it for a moment before he finally nodded, "Might for the best." Feeling the same as Merikh did in this instance. They might have a few things that they didn't completely agree on, a Khehora named Skorga for one, but this was certainly something they saw eye to eye on, so to speak, "Do you want to do that soon? Or would you rather visit with your family for a time?"

Merikh turned to look at his mothers who were standing before him, allowing him a chance to take in Patreen and the responsibility that he'd be taking on along with the boy, and he went for a moment quiet, a thoughtful look on his face, "Mmm, well we did come all the way here, and running off without the twins isn't exactly an option, is it? We will stay here the night, share a meal, then meet up with the twins as we planned. We will let them know about Reeny here, and make plans for what we want to do next." His attention then turned to the masked boy as he said, "Tomorrow will be your chance to kill something in my name, for tonight we are going to stay in."

Patreen most likely wouldn't of thought of being called "cute" as an insult, if that is what his Master thought of him that is what he was. The child saw no reason to question it or even dwell on it for long. He listened to the elder as Merikh spoke. As he listened the child ended up standing right at the elders side, if he wanted to he could most likely reach up to tug on his Master's belt if he wanted to. Instead the small Oblivionite reached up to lightly grip his Master's belt as his other hand shifted his mask to rub at his eye.

His sleeve was designed to be large enough that you wouldn't be able to see his face, while all adults heard a very childlike yawn out of him. He heard his Master his arm dropping as the mask slide perfectly back into place. He nodded, "Yes Master. Where shall I rest for the night?"

All that travel had the poor little assassin tuckered out.

Igone starred at the boy for a moment before he gave a bit of a laugh, "Gonna have him curl up and sleep in your lap little a little kitten, Boss?" He teased Merikh who was starring down at the boy who was asking where it was that he should rest for the night. He couldn't help but to tease a little if only because the boy seemed so earnest about it all. He was a cute little thing, wasn't he? He was an interesting sort of kid, the fact that he was both cute and dangerous, a little assassin in training, someone that would be the same as Yolana one day.

It was a thought that had Igone turning to look over at her, studying the serious woman, as Merikh replied to him about his comment.

"I am not going to baby the kid, Iggy, he's an assassin, a dangerous sort, I don't want to be too nice to him since that would just dull his instincts." If that happened then what use would he be to the group? He wanted Patreen to get as strong as Yolana after all, as well as just as deadly accurate with a weapon as she was. As much as he wanted to look after him, keep the boy at his side, to protect him, he knew that he couldn't do that. If anything he should probably see out hunts with him so that he could help him to fulfill his potential.

Turning his attention back to Patreen he said, "Reeny, you will be staying in the room attached to mine with Yoyo. I can trust the two of you can get along since you're from the same guild?" He glanced at Yolana and she gave a little nod of her head, before Merikh turned back to his mothers so that he could chat with them for a moment more before he and the others moved away from them. They would have dinner with his family later, for now he should show Patreen around since he was new.

The small assassin looked up at the elder assassin. He gave a small bow before yawning, "Greetings mentor."

Patreen looked back to his new Master, holding off on his own urge for sleep in favor of what his Master wanted. When the male turned to his Mother. Patreen turned to Yolana, taking two steps toward her he tilted his head.

Yolana glanced over at where Merikh was standing, listening as he he spoke with his mothers before looking back to Patreen once more as the boy greeted her. She merely starred at him for the longest time before she took a knee alongside him, and spoke, something she rarely did as she never felt there was a reason for it. Her voice was quiet, to the point that only Patreen would be able to hear it, "Keep your eyes open, boy, there is a lot of danger swirling around our master." She didn't know if he was worth trusting, didn't know if he was dangerous or an enemy, but if he was it just meant that she would be burying the body the body of yet another would be assassin somewhere. Here was to hoping this little boy wasn't another that meant to make an attempt on Merikh's life since she wasn't sure if Merikh would be able to put a child assassin down even if the brat was trying to kill him.

"Just watch for danger and watch yourself." She said, giving him fair warning. She wouldn't hesitate even if Merikh did, she was contracted to keep him safe after all, even if that meant killing to keep him alive. Pushing back to her feet she brushed herself off and once more fell into silence.

As she did so Merikh turned to look their way, then motioned to them, "Come on, we are heading up stairs." He told the pair of assassins as well as the archer before he turned, leaning the way. Igone and Yolana, used to moving at Merikh's pace, were quick to move, falling into step with him. Igone was to one side of him, Yolana behind him, and the woman pointed to Merikh's other side, motioning for Patreen to take up that spot next to their master. That way she could keep a close eye on him and make sure he wasn't a little snake in their midst.

Merikh led the way up the twisting stair case that went to the second floor, down the hall, and into his room which was quite large and ornate, with everything in it that one his age might need and then some. Once there he shrugged out of the pack he carried, tossing it onto his desk, then took the massive sword off his back, hanging it on a spot on the wall made special for the blade, then stepped out of his high boots. Once he was free of all of that he stretched his arms over his head, his wings to the side, and his tail straight backwards before giving a sigh, "So good to be home again." He said, turning to motion at an open door that led to another room, one that was almost as nice as his own, and he said, "That is the room you will be sharing with Yoyo, Reeny, if you want to go and take a peek?"

The young assassin wasn't a fool, he knew that the female wasn't going to trust him automaticly. She wouldn't be a famed assassin if she did. He nodded as he listened to her. Not daring to speak in concern she would use his words against him later. He did however fall into step where she silently told him. The child rubbed at his eyes again as his hand found its way childishly to the older Obliv's . Patreen wasn't used to this fatigue. He wondered why his mind felt...relieved.

Of course he knew why. He was finally out of that hell he called his home for his whole life. The child repressed the shiver before looking up. He dropped his hand as he watched his master unwind. The child glanced to the room which was pointed out before walking tentatively to the door. He turned back to his Master, "Have they sent my trunk ahead of me?"

His Trunk. The only thing he had to his name. Filled with random objects, spare masks. He also had materials to make more masks in there somewhere. But there was something hidden at the bottom he had to have in order to sleep.

Merkih turned to glance over toward the kid for a long moment, giving him a lot look, before turning back to what he'd been doing, "I just got home so I have no idea if your trunk is here." He told him, wondering if he was so sleepy that he didn't notice that? He glanced toward Yolana, "I think he needs a lot of work if he is going to reach your level, Yoyo. I think that we should see about definitely starting that soon. Not today though, he will just fall asleep midway through the battle I feel."

Turning to toward Patreen then he gave the masked boy, "Reeny, go with Yoyo, get some sleep, I will send a servant in search of your trunk." He told him, walking over to him, ruffling his hair, "Igone, feel free to take a seat, I am sure you need it. I will join you once I have spoken with the servants."

The archer nodded, "Alright, will do, Boss." He said with a smile, then glanced over at Yolana and Patreen, wondering for a moment if Yolana would come back once she tucked the boy into bed and made sure that he was asleep. Giving a nod he asked, "Gonna be back after you tuck him in?"

Yolana gave a half shrug before putting a hand on on Patreen's back, giving him a nudge forward toward the room that she would be sharing with the boy. She was glad that she had been given this task because it allowed her to keep an eye on him, to get a feel for him, and to see if he was a snake in their midst or not. She hoped not as she didn't want to punish a kid for doing his job, but she supposed that they would see soon enough.

The child felt the gentle touch, Yolana would feel a shiver run through his spine before he moved into the room. Once inside the child walked to the window. Looking out it, he reached up to pull the curtains. He didn't like windows to be open like that. Besides he would see the curtains move if someone got gutsy. Moving to what looked to be the smaller more unused bed the child stopped. Now was his time to toss in his cards. Show he was ally not foe. Reach out for a ally at least...

He started with taking off the large robe. The child's long sleeved shirt underneath was a few shades paler than the robe. The hem of his sleeves just barely reaching the tips of his long nails. He glanced up to the female under his mask. Here went nothing. He reached up, small fingers curling around the mask edges before he pulled it off. Like all Oblvis his sockets were empty. One was large like most children, the other...seemed to be scarred slightly closed. As if the child fell. On that side of his face also was a scar which ran down to his jaw line. His skin was a dark dusty gray. Odd for an Obliv but...it would darken as he got older it seemed. His cyan bangs fell in front of his face, falling mostly over the scarred eye.

Patreen didn't speak until he felt the silence stretch, "Are we family now? Since we serve the same Master?"

His words were of a child shattered by the world, a child molded into a killer...one who didn't know their family. Let alone themselves.

Yolana's tail gave a flick from side to side as she considered the question posed to her before she finally said, "If you are found to be trustworthy then yes, you will likely be welcome into the fold." She found Merikh's way of doing things a little odd but he was the man she served now and had served since he quite a lot younger, "There is our Master, Merikh, as well as three Corporals Igone, who you met, and the twins who you will meet tomorrow, along with myself. We have been taking on various jobs together. Our master means to bring you along as well for various adventures, starting as early as tomorrow, so you should likely get some sleep if you want to be ready for that."

She looked around the room a moment, then back to the boy and said, "Just don't think that since he is noble that it is a cushy life. We fight dragons, have gone to war, take jobs to build up our skills. Our Master, like his mothers and grandfather, is driven, the sort that isn't about to sit still. In fact he is preparing himself so he can go out hunting for Diabi." Best that she warn him exactly what Merikh was like, "So if you want to be a part of our group you will need to be prepared for all of that without misconceptions about Merikh being the sort to hide behind his title." Something that made her job far more difficult then she'd expected it would be when she first came to work for the family.

Walking over to the door when she heard a knock she opened it up, allowing the servants to bring in the trunk, motioning for them to put it at the foot of the bed that Patreen would be sleeping in. Only after they were gone and the door was closed again did she said, "Get some rest, Patreen... oh, and please be prepared. Now that's called you Reeny it's going to stick."

Patreen listened to the older assassin, turning to hide his face when the servants came in with his trunk. Once heard them leave Yolana would see just how young he really was. The child went to his truck and opened it with a key he pulled out from under his shirt. Letting the top gently clack against the foot board he started shifting things around. Small little noises of disappointment as he couldn't find exactly what he was looking for. The trunk itself was large enough that three of Patreen would be able to fit inside. The child pulled half of body into the truck letting out a soft cheer. He dropped back with a silk blanket. The child smiled before standing, shutting the trunk then locking it he pulled the blanket around his shoulders before climbing into bed.

He looked up at Yolana as he squirmed under the blankets, "I'll learn a lot from you all. I can't wait to find my place here."

If you want to put up a final post of Patreen falling asleep we can see about starting the next day with them going to meet the twins so they can go hunting. Let me know if you want that to be a separate RP or continued here.

Yolana gave a little sighing sound as she watched the boy lean into his trunk, leaving himself far to exposed for her liking. She was starting to think that perhaps he wasn't the dangerous snake that she'd thought him to be at first. He was to... she didn't want to say soft, but that was the word that came to mind first. Walking over to the foot of his bed she watched as he squirmed under the blankets and said, "The plan is to meet with the twins tomorrow, we were going to be looking for our next job but I feel now that you have joined us plans will be altered. Try to get some rest, I see tomorrow as being... busy."

She nodded her head to the young assassin in training, then turned to walk over to her own bed, sitting on it. Once there she took out her dual blades, setting to work sharpening them. She'd tend to the weapons, make sure they were sharp and ready for tomorrow, and once Patreen had fallen asleep she'd join the others. It was as she'd said, plans would change and given that it was her job to keep Merikh safe she meant to be in on the making of the new plans as she wasn't a fan of surprises even if Merikh was.
