"I had to make things right." Nucleo had gone to trade in all his punkins for totatoes. Then he'd turned them in to the farmer for two final tickets. He'd spotted the tarnip he'd left behind and instantly regret had flooded through him. So even though it wouldn't benefit him in the end, he asked to trade his final punkin for it. The farmer gave him a confused look but agreed to the swap and let the greenblooded boy merrily reunite. He was going to use the tarnip as a garnish for when the pot was finally served. Wandering off happy, Nucleo hoped he'd run into his friends when it came time to eat!

Vremea had barely begun to notice when most people began to exchange and barter things for their stalk market things. In fact, by the time she understood the game completely, it was almost too late. She quickly exchanged 10 totatoes for a few tickets, then stared at her left over fruits. Well... She could always keep them for the Outpost...

Alifax found his way over to the community pot again, now that he was alone. Frossa apparently didn't approve of some people's ingredients or something. Alifax had probably stomached worse, unless someone was putting cake into this soup. Were they putting cake into this soup?

Well. He didn't much care, either way. He scooped the punkin from his bag and released it into the pot with a crick of his neck, and then turned to his pockets, where he'd pilfered a bit of the preserved embryo that was used for mooncake filling. This might be good, right? He tossed it in as well, and walked off, satisfied.

He didn't have very long to feel satisfied with himself, though. As he was walking through the crowd, a large snoutbeast came barreling at him. "Woah - h - "

s**t. This was not the crowd. This was a large pile of mud. He'd gotten distracted and stumbled his way into some line, and this snoutbeast was apparently his reward. Why was there an audience for this? Actually, why was there a desire to do this in the first place? What was he supposed to be doing? Alifax reached for his meteors before he heard a loud booing from the audience.

Oh. Apparently he was supposed to do this manually? What had happened to firing on aliens from a distance?

He didn't have very much time to think, though: the snoutbeast was coming at him again, and it was quite large. There was, quite possibly, risk of goring. He ducked, for a bit, and then just charged at it. Why not? If he was going to do this, he might as well. With any luck they provided some sort of ablution afterward. Even if it was a Faygo ablution. He ducked, a bit, and then jumped up at it.

Whoops. It'd moved again.

Except it was actually just a meter over. Fortunately they were literally in a puddle of mud, and mud was quite slippery - Alifax slid right over, his body falling clumsily onto the snoutbeast's. After a few seconds, he found himself astride it? Was this what he was supposed to do before murdering it? How many snoutbeasts were they having arbitrary passerby slaughter? The pot couldn't possibly need that many; and killing meat by hand only made it less palatable later on. Well - perhaps they were going to put all of the snoutbeasts in that stew.

Still. It was a lot of snoutbeast.

In his reverie he didn't realize the large farmer troll was easing him off the snoutbeast, and handing him a smaller, plastic-wrapped one.

Oh. Wait. This one wasn't real. It could probably go live in Frossa's hive, then.

Alifax, emboldened by the idea that not paying attention to what he was doing would actually help him when cooking, had returned.

And he proceeded to, yet again, not pay attention to what he was doing. What? He learned his lesson. If exploding things seemed to work, it'd only make sense that it'd continue working. And if not paying attention to his mooncakes meant they'd come out edible enough for Fro - oh, woah.

Whoops. Apparently this batch had turned out overcooked. But it was still good enough to eat, so. Alifax left with a ticket, and without free samples.

It was the last night of the jubilee, and apparently no one had found the needle or whatever. So Alifax figured - well - he might as well try, right? He'd found the button without looking for it that first night.

But, try as he might, he couldn't find it either. "Sorry," he told the proprietor. "I might suggest, uh, buying one, though, if you want it that badly," he added, and shrugged. It was time to go to that vegetable farmer guy that had let Alifax have free vegetables.

"Here," said Alifax brusquely, pushing some of his littler vegetables at the farmer. He'd traded some of them for a jar of preserves, earlier in the jubilee - and he was keeping those, sorry Frossa - but he had enough for a small bounty of tickets.

What were these tickets for, anyway? It probably didn't matter. What did matter was that he was going to be keeping, well, a large crop of punkins, some totatoes, and a tarnip. They'd make an excellent future meal, he thought. For now, maybe he had to go find Frossa and stick her on his back. It'd been a long festival, and there was a parade to watch.
