The tealblood cleared her throat, not wanting to dwell on either thing too long. Her face felt warm, and that in and of itself was embarrassing. "You say that it's nothing, but this is the second time I've made them and they've come out wrong," she complained, hands on her hips as he made his own.
She pursed her lips as she watched him finish, a sad finish much like her own. "I told you, but you didn't listen. Well, at least now I know it's not just me."
Afryse's efforts being in vain was oddly reassuring. They both had a hard time with this, and so she didn't have to suffer alone. But she had to be resolute! "There must be something to it. Like one of those cubes. You know, the ones that supposedly test your intelligence but are just a pattern, a system? Like that." Practice made perfect. She could make this work, or die trying! Anyway, how pathetic would it be to quit at something wigglers were perfecting?
Looking at the ingredients again, after observing Afryse and going through the motions multiple times, she steeled herself. "I...I may have a handle on this now," she announced, though her hands were rather cold. Mera went through the motions, though grit her teeth at the bad starting results. Why did her filling keep being so bad? She tried her best!
But she had mastered the crust, for real, as if that was her only expertise.
She sighed when the stamp came out too light again. "I suppose it's better than making the innards ooze out..."
But, most importantly, they came out cooked properly. They were edible. Mera's eyes lit up. "Oh! Oh my! Afryse! I made a batch we can actually eat!" It was as if she had won the goddamn lottery.

There was no way she could really miss it. The smell was delicious and she wanted nothing more than to scoop her hand in and nomnom the nummynummys up! Oh well, might as well try and get some nommers on? She grabbed a toetatoe from her bag and casually dropped it in. Horror struck CD as once more his charge had poisoned the whole contingency. He nudged her away as the pot tender grumbled angrily at another damn kid using a damn rotten crop. What was WRONG with these children?

"No needle yet. But wait, here's a button!" Nucleo exclaimed as he emerged from the haystack once again. He was starting to like this game! Who knew if there were other treasures hidden in here as well? The troll in charge grinned and handed a few tickets over in exchange and told the greenblood to keep his chin up! It was left a little under kneaded and when she formed the cakes, her hands pressed the design template too hard, making it look all mushy and yucky. Dejected, she slid them into the kiln and watched as they grew a deep golden brown. Pulling them from the oven, Treide was relieved to see that they weren't a total waste. Sure the dough was odd, but they were cooked and the center was deliciously fruit. Smiling to herself, she broke one in half and offerer it to CD, who gratefully yipped and nommed it down. "Da," She said aorund a mouthful, "Can I cook at home too?" CD sniffed and nodded, I don't see why not. "Thanks Da!"

Grabbing a container off the table, he shook the shaker over the pot and grinned. Yep this smelled like the right stuff! When this stew was ready, it was going to be amazing! "One more time, please." Amonee had not had enough of the haystack game and returned to the booth once again. The young greenblood hoped to finally get ahold of that needle once and for all. Or okay he'd settle for another shiny button. The boy worked his arm deep into the hat this time as he thought about what to do with his buttons. Maybe be could start a collection!
