Alright, she was ready for it this time. There was a needle in that haystack just waiting for her to come along and find it, and she didn't intend to make it wait long! Etsali shot the farmer in charge another of her wide grins and then turned to the task at hand, digging enthusiastically into the hay. But once again, nothing.

Maybe it could wait just a little longer.

"Those sold quick!" Nucleo beamed when he returned to the mooncakes booth. Feeling proud and a little cocky, the boy offered to help out again. He thought he'd gotten the hang of this whole mooncake thing only to discover that in his breezy attempt, he'd stamped the design unevenly again. Distraught, the boy was even more bummed to discover he'd somehow made the cakes mushy too!

"Guess I should leave this to the professionals like you." Pouting a bit, Nucleo accepted the older greenblood's pity tickets and nodded when she said to come back again later. He could tell she was trying to make him feel better about it and it'd be rude to say no.

"Hmm, still not seeing it." Nucleo had wandered back to the haystack to try his hand at the game again. His hair was slowly becoming more and more monster-like but he ignored Goatmom's attempts to n** at it. He was more interested in doing something fun to get him excited again than to sit still and wait for his clones to fix it. On that note he considered calling one out to keep him company but wondered if the booth owners would think he was trying to cheat. He wasn't sure if they'd believe that they were twins or if they'd think something seabeasty was going on. Better to not chance it just yet.

"Could use some more spice." Nucleo decided when he passed by the community pot again. The other trolls had added enough food to make it smell good again but there was something missing. Heading over, he noticed a display of spices that sometroll had left and peeked at the options. What were some of these? Unsure, he grabbed one at random and poured some in. Some of the powder burst out and he coughed from the sudden cloud. It didn't smell awful but it wasn't as fragrant and fun as he'd hoped.

Once again, tonight wasn't his night to find a needle. To be honest, after looking up what a needle looked like in a text book, Mahmud started to think this whole damned game was rigged. Who on Alternia was going to find something that thin in all this hay!? Someone would like, have to have Sniper Eyes for that!

While the boy continued re stuffing hay in his pants, his pockets, his HAIR even, he contemplated a wicked sweet musical slam poetry piece about the man with the sniper eyes. Something about Sniper man, his master plan, and how he didn't expect to find Pity in a troll so prett-

"Alright kid, ya- ... Did you get bigger?"

Mahmud dashed off before the booth operator could look closer, all that hay scratching his poor little legs in the meantime,

Etsali started back over towards the mooncakes stand. Her path around the festival from game to game seemed to be working out pretty good so far, so why change it, right? Besides, she'd been eating a lot of the ones she'd gotten the last couple of times so she needed a new batch if she was going to share with anyone! Even Keeper had seemed to like the things when they'd met up earlier, so it was a solid enough plan.

It didn't take too long to cook up the batch, but compared to her others these didn't seem...quite so impressive. The lady in charge didn't even seem to like them this time. Well. Huh. She gnawed at one as she moved on anyway, trying to decide where it had apparently gone wrong. Still just tasted like fruit to her.

The community pot had a lot more things in it today! It was kind of exciting to see that so many trolls were still so willing to pitch in. Etsali found herself wanting to join in again, but she hadn't really picked up anything new that would look good with all those vegetables simmering away in there, had she? Nothing new, but she guessed she did have those ones from the barter game! No one would know if she used it for this instead of that!

The thief reached into her bag, fishing around, and withdrew one of her totatoes. It was...kind of beaten up, a little weird looking, but it was a vegetable, and vegetables had to be good with other vegetables. She dropped it in and watched the concoction cook for a moment with a smile.

The pot smelled so sweet.

For a moment the little troll had thought he screwed the pooch again, so to speak. After last nights culinary debacle Mahmud has come to terms with the fact that, despite being a wonderful Mooncake maker, he was the absolute worst at picking ingredients.

Yet when the four tickets were placed in his hand, all that struggle manifested itself in a tangible, victorious form. He won! HE WON!

Amonee passed by that haystack booth again and eyed it more carefully this time. He'd been too hasty in his previous attempts and had simply assaulted the object without any thought. No wonder he hadn't been able to find anything! This time he would investigate it carefully before tearing through it.

"Is that... blue?" Needles weren't (usually) blue. What was a splotch of color doing in there? Greedy hands dug at the spot and the young jadeblood lit up with joy at finding a shiny plastic blue button. How cute! He had no idea what to do with it but it was his now as a nice memento of his time at the Jubilee.

Hunger struck him again, it was probably because of all the smells in the air. Merchants called out for trolls to buy their wares but Amonee was not eager to blow all of his beetles yet. He would return to the mooncakes booth for some easy samples even if he felt a little bad about it. This time he would leave a few beetles to cover the costs of his frequent visits maybe. He rinsed his hands and got to work stuffing and pressing the dough into a lumpy but passable shape. He was slightly getting better at this each time!

"Wow, it's edible this time!" The boy took a hearty bite and a satisfied flush covered his cheeks as he enjoyed the fruits of his labor. It was wonderful to do a good job and he felt a sense of pride.

Jazzed about his success with the mooncakes, Amonee decided to defeat the rest of his hunger at the community pot. This time he grabbed a bowl to try the broth later once they allowed it. So far it smelled okay but it needed something more... but what would do? Thinking it over, the young jadeblood decided to add two cut up yellow oniyums to the mix. He would add more later as he shopped through the farmers' market and found appropriate goods. This was turning out much better than he'd feared!

"Thank you for the bowl!" Amonee gave a polite nod to one of the trolls passing out the goods and manning the fire.

Hemera frowned at the results of her new batch. She'd done everything as well as she could...the stamping was much better than last time, and she had even perfected the crust. So how had this gone so wrong? "I did not realize baking would be so hard," she muttered, getting rather annoyed. Other amateurs were succeeding on their first try, and here she was, yet again with inedible cakes. "It should have gone better this time; I just don't understand..."

She chewed on her lip a little, frustrated but also confused. She thought herself a quick study, but this was showing otherwise. Perhaps it was a fluke?

"Really Hemera?" A sharp voice spoke behind the tealblood, it was familiar, but lower now. A soft timbre of warmth. Moving closure, Afryse pushed the sleeves of his kimono up to his arm pits and grinned at her. Hemera looked.. Gorgeous. More beautiful than she ever had before. This was what it was like to be a teen? Here he seemed to barely change, but look at her! Glasses thin and accentuating her lips and eyes, and her hair spun out like black gold. Then her horns, sleek and curled behind her head, while his were jagged and stuck out. She looked smooth and gorgeous, like ice.

s**t, he was staring. Clearing his throat, he began to work, but the.... the sight of Hemera made him feel oddly weak, oddly confused with his own blood pusher. Was this a normal thing? "Really," He tried to keep his voice even, "This is absolutely nothing, really." Really it was. Really.

They ended up horrible, with the incorrect filling and dough that would not rise, and a print that looked like it had been caught in an earthquake. Their only saving grace was the fact they were perfectly goldenbrown and looked scrumptious. "... Okay, perhaps it is not that simple." He wanted to give it another shot. This was going to be tougher than he thought, but it wasn't /that/ hard, right? right?
