Natash crouched at the haystack. She'd won a button already, but she was probably lucky enough to get the needle too! And the needle was probably at the bottom of the hay pile, because that's what happened when you dropped things, they fall to the ground. She reached in and scraped along the bottom of the pile, feeling dirt and straw. Ah. Nothing...

Gnash returned to the mooncake booth, which was very quickly becoming a favorite. She could always count on food to comfort her, even if it was bad food! Or, not good enough in the eyes of the booth runner, who was a lowblood so she probably just didn't understand. She could always try her best here, and still be rewarded with a snack!

It wasn't her best work, and it tasted... doughy and chewy. But it was edible!

Finally, it looked like she had a bit of luck now! She managed to find a really tasty looking veggie to add to the community pot, and even doubled her ticket winnings. She was especially looking forward to the future meal now, knowing how well her contributions are going. The booth runner assured her she would have one of the first bowls, but that might have just been because of the seadweller's blood status.

Today's cooking adventures didn't seem much better than before. In fact, as the nights wore on, Fermer could see Mahmud wasn't doing nearly as well as he did that first night.

Tonight the mix was too sweet, far too sweet, and the young boy didn't seem to pay attention to just how much he was putting in. All he seemed to do was stand there, between a bunch of other trolls, looking absolutely miserable as everyone talked around him. There were so many of them... so many of them. Apparently the word had spread that this stand was letting people try making mooncakes for free, and as such it gained lots of popularity. Mahmud should have been happy for Fermer and Duckdad; surely their lives as farmers were about as profitable as living out in the middle of the desert like he and Harpommy did. It had to be a hard and arduous life, and just a few night's earnings had probably made their winter existence far more smooth...

        So why wasn't he happy?

The little boy tried to contemplate this while making his mooncakes, but the suffocating feeling of having so many trolls of all ages nearby was enough to make him woozy. Two teens over there, presumably together. Another over there. That one was fast, the other two could gang up on him. Harpommy could probably take down one troll, but he wasn't strong enough to take the other. What if Fermer and DuckDad liked them better? What if she let them hurt him?

Naturally this was all blown out of proportion, but...

"Hey. Hey Muddy Buddy, lets get your cake in the oven okay sweetie?"
        "..." Only a small nod.

Tonight's cakes were worse than the other two, and probably weren't sell-able, He messed up. He ruined her business. Now she couldn't survive the winter, and it was all his fault.

Yet despite all the misery he must have likely brought the adult and her lusus, Fermer didn't seem too distressed by his pitiful attempt at a cake, bringing it out to him. "Y'all just fine, Muddy Buddy. See? It's really sweet on the inside, and looks kind of off but... look. You got your outside much MUCH better today."

"..." She still called him muddy-buddy. She was still smiling at him. Obviously he wasn't any use to her, since his past two culinary attempts were subpar. So what did she really want from him? "... Okay."

A look of relief washed over her. "There we go! Thats Mudbud!" At first she reached over to ruffle his hair, but quickly stopped and pulled it back, looking to her dad who gave a quack. "You did a good job. Come back tomorrow, try again. I guarantee it'll be better."

        Gog, he hoped so.

Tickets won:Idek if im doing tickets on Vos

"Yooo? Sup!" She called pulling her goggles off her eyes up onto her forehead. Looking around, she spied Reemus standing there eating something. Her stomach growled. With him calling her given nickname Voscil made her way towards him. While he was partially blind in one eye, she also knew he could handle himself. Yet if the other troll needed something, she'd go through high and hell to make sure it happened for him. With a quick little flitter of motion, Vos moved over to the other yellowblood. While her outfit wasn't her usual sporty jumpsuit in order to remain in disguise, little glimmers of her power came with the excitement of the festivals joyous occasion. Although she'd promised to keep it low key.

Despite the dangers, Voscil could smell a variety of goodies in the air and a variety a trolls seemed genuinely happy. Truth be told the yellowbloods weakness for all things sweet and good in the world hadn't been met in what seemed like forever. While it was easy enough to hunt, the treats she'd grown accustomed to wasn't something worth throwing her beetles at the drop of a hat, so when they were offered a free sample initial Vos had dashed over to take her offered goodie. The little homely tent was cute she thought, and thanked the other.

"Ohhh sure I wanna try and make something yummy too maybe we can trade our batches?!" She chirped in agreement with a wide toothy smile. She'd watched him from a short distance go about making his cakes and the idea hadn't occurred to her until he came back looking so damn proud of himself she couldn't help but be amused. She wanted to match the occasion! If he could do it so could she..even with her previous distastes in the kitchen aside. Not one to be beaten in a fair competition.

Voscil made her filling first and got the fruits together doing a mixture of different colors and types. Her nimble fingers moved and pushed the dough into place until she was satisfied with the look of it. Although it was rushed, she was gentle with the stamp, and it came out looking rather neat she thought.

Lastly was the actual baking time. She shuffled back over to Reemus while she waited. "By the way awesome job baking 'em. Those smell super good man." She admitted nudging his larger frame with her elbow as she leaned on him for a moment sighing, hating having to wait. At least the end result, or so she hoped would be worth it.

Mamaju hadn't come with this time, it wasn't safe with them going to NHC. Voscil while not afraid, didn't want her lusus nor herself caught or recognized and had decided to remain discrete to some degree.

Impatiently she tapped a sneaker on the ground, before going back to fetch her batch. Once they were cool enough she took a nibble of her own before her eyes lit up, immediately passing one to her muster-yellow friend before proceeding to wolf a few down without hesitation. They were really good, and hit just the right sweet tooth note she thought anyway.

Gl!tch~.

Stryke had heard about the upcoming celebrations, and while hesitation to leave the Outpost he'd slipped on his recently acquired disguise, and alternative symbol before daring to try adventuring outside the rebel base. New Hemisect was not the first place he'd thought to travel too, but celebrating amidst the homey lighting and colorful lanterns..and namely knowing the kinds of foods that would be there lead him to make the journey. The green and pink hanging lanterns occasionally would rustle from the cool air breeze, and Stryke felt himself sigh, a smile pulling at his lips. For a moment, he actually felt relaxed even in a busy noisey hub like this festival. It reminded him of simpler times, and for a moment he flet it was safe to simply enjoy the night.

At one point, he passed by a vendor. He'd passed by many stalls, and trolls offering their goods. He'd politely turned down several but the mooncakes had him stopping in place, and staring. For a moment, he felt just childish enough to nod and thank the other troll and quietly accept the free offering. When offered a chance to make his own, he reluctantly agreed.

Rolling up his sleeves, the yellowblood set to work making his dough. Unlike the fruity sample he'd been offered, he went for a more nutty flavor adding a variety of nuts and sugar filling. Not knowing how hard to press the stamp to the cakes, the design was barely noticeable if at all, although he didn't correct it as he didn't have the time to linger. There was other things to do within the city limits he was sure. The dough while flaky, ended up under-cooked by the time all was said and done unfortunately.

Not that it stopped Stryke from eating the ones he'd made for himself. In fact, despite the slightly raw taste to the dough he thought they weren't half bad.

Sorta. He'd have to try harder next time he had the opportunity to bake, that was for sure.

Vremea easily jumped back into the stack of hay, skirt hiked up and searching for the prickling of a needle. The more she searched, however, the less she found, and every time she saw something gleaming from afar, it was always just a trick of the eye. Vremea, frustrated, resigned to her fate-- Nothing, once more. Tomorrow, She murmured, Tomorrow, for sure.

Next, Vremea headed over to the mooncake section again. While she had again made an uneven stamp (hey, she wasn't exactly wearing her sight glasses!) It still tasted scrumptious! Nutty, tender, and even perfectly cooked-- Vremea didn't want to be a little too prideful, but hey, she definitely was getting the hang of cooking these things!

Alifax was waiting. He wasn't really sure what he was waiting for, but because of it he had time to spend time by the dried legumes again. He'd actually been examining it for flammability: wouldn't that be a more efficient way to find the needle? Maybe a little dangerous, though, in an environment like this. Still, it was an interesting thought.

Unfortunately he didn't get to have it for very long: after a few minutes he was shooed away with a ticket in hand.

Alifax wasn't sure what he was doing here again. Practicing for when he inevitably came back with Frossa? He didn't want to embarrass himself. Well, whatever.

He followed the instructions again dutifully - although even he noticed that he'd somehow pressed too hard with the mold and, uh, well, to put it shortly, the filling was threatening to spill from the top of the cake. Who cared? The booth-owner, and probably Frossa...

But wasn't it edible? He'd even done the double baking thing or whatever this time.

Apparently not. Huh. Oh well.

With that done he'd slink back over to where the large pot was stored, dropping one of the mooncakes he'd just made in. Now what would that shopkeeper say about his mooncakes being inedible? No one here seemed to care.

Well, the person manning it only eyed him suspiciously, rather than give him anything. Alifax didn't much care about that. There weren't enough people who cared about how this thing actually tasted to really regulate what went into it: what mattered was that it was filling. At least, that was what he'd gathered. Alifax didn't really mind a few filling meals, in all honesty.
