So far, no good. It felt like hours (though it had not even been a minute) since he started doing this tired, trite task, and every time he had gotten close to the stupid beast it would squeal and run its big, stupid looking butt in the big stupid looking mud and get him covered in stupid, sticky, MUD.
THERE WAS JUST TOO MUCH MUD!
"I got you now!" The boy wiggled his own butt a bit and leaped towards it, hoping this time was the--- oh no. Nope. It wasn't his time to shine. Instead he got a whole front full of mud, even his face. Especially his face. Oh god the mud was all over the place, and trolls laughing on the sidelines and can he just... hide in this stuff? Yeah. Please, let him hide in the mud.

Leeroi had soon been pulled away to do other things, and Guouli took that time to go off with a bounce in his step to see what other shenanigans he could get up to. Or, really, anything he could poke Leeroi into doing. He ended up doing a full loop, returning to see Leeroi making cakes before heading over to a pile of hay.
Well.
If Leeroi could make cakes, so could he! Guo ambled over to the stall, Hogdad in tow. The lusus snuffled at the batter there, intrigued. At this rate, he would just be happy with anything. Food was food was food.
Guo ignored it, instead intent on finding out how to make these things, and set to work after making a few choice comments. "Can anyone even lose at something like this? It's for wigglers!"
And, dough in hands, a good set-up for a food fight. He tucked the idea away for later.
Guouli went at it with some amount of concentration, before realizing he could easily miss Leeroi if he wasn't quick enough. So, speeding up, the results went from fantastic to...well...
Hogdad sniffed the box, and hesitated. Not that it stopped him from taking advantage of his kid sharing something he made himself (Hogdad was so proud) but it still was...ehh, whatever, it wasn't too bad. He couldn't complain.
Guo took the remainder over with him to where Leeroi was, still in the hay. A moon cake sat in his mouth, before swallowing it whole.
"Dude, you look like s**t. You getting sick? Hope it's not contagious." If it was, maybe he could sneeze in the community pot...
The blueblood tilted the box a little so the contents were facing Leeroi. "You want one?"

"Darn, I thought I'd find another button!" Nucleo pouted as he emerged from the mess of hay once more. It was a miracle it was still a stack with all the other trolls climbing all over the thing to find that needle. Nucleo was no exception to the mess-makers. The troll beside the haystack gave him a ticket and asked him to move along, the line was busy at the moment! "I'll get it this time!" Nucleo declared. He was at the mooncakes booth again and working hard! Carefully mixing the ingredients together, he shaped the cakes so they would come out plump and tender. It was somehow satisfying to make something so perfectly round. After pressing the design too lightly last time, Nucleo went a bit over board with it this time and distorted the shape of the cake. The batch came out perfectly cooked in the end, however, and he presented it to the curvy greenblood farmer with glee. She was so impressed she gave him a box of mooncakes and told him to save them this time so he could eat some after the festival was over. He'd try his best!Quote: I'm burning mooncakes! "I found a whole bunch of these!" Nucleo approached the community pot with a handful of onions. He didn't know if anyone would have a problem with them but in his personal opinion they were delicious in stews. An older troll had to stop him from dunking the vegetables in whole and slice them so they would actually spread the flavor around. Whoops. Thanking the older troll, Nucleo gave them a voucher for a free coffee from his shop and hoped to see them again sometime!Quote: I'm potentially poisoning everyone. "What it needs are some carrots!" Amonee had looked at the stew once more and thought it was missing some color. The orange of a carrot would make it much more pleasing to the eye as well as add some more tasty vegetables. Dropping some cut up pieces into the pot, he watched as they mixed in with the rest and he felt his stomach grumble. It was really getting harder and harder not to dish himself up a sample when he came by here. But it sounded like they were strictly waiting until later in the festival to serve it up so he would do the gentlemanly thing and wait patiently!

"STOP LAUGHING AT ME!"
By now the poor boy was caked head to toe in sticky mud, and all the encouraging coos his mom could give on the sidelines did nothing to make him feel any better. This was the pits. People were laughing at him (or at the very least, the guy in charge of this stupid damn game), and this snoutbeast wouldn't stay still!
Another leap, another failure, another faceful of mud. Great. If he didn't catch it this time, he was going to just... walk out. Walk straight out, screw this.

'Maybe I'm just not cut out for baking.' It was another embarrassing failure at the mooncakes booth. Amonee had gotten the ingredients just right and then accidentally leaned on top of his cakes with his elbow. Smooshing them back into the right shape had made them look okay but the contents were ruined. He tucked them into the oven and tried to forget about his misfortune while he waited. Unfortunately he also forgot about the cakes and hurriedly pulled a crispy mess out of the oven after 5 minutes of overcooking. Yuck, they didn't look good. Tossing them into the trash, he slipped away from the area and tried not to draw attention to himself.Quote: I'm burning mooncakes! I mean baking. Squinted eyes sized up the haystack once again and Amonee tried to look for any strangely arranged hay. Maybe he'd be able to find the needle if he looked for parts of the pile that had been tampered with. After all, the troll running the booth had to have shoved his hand in there to stick the needle somewhere, right? But then again, maybe it was buried deep at the bottom underneath everything... Detective Amonee pondered his options before deciding to try investigating the top (or the highest he could go).

Thats it. He was leaving, that last leap was the final straw he needed to turn back around and try to leave this stupid goddamn pen. However, the operator seemed to have different thoughts in between his bouts of hysterical laughter. "AW COME ON KID, don't give in that fast! Y'all go back over in there and CATCH THAT SNOUTBEAST!"
In an attempt to encourage him, the troll had given Mahmud a gentle nudge with his hands. Honestly, it was just an innocent nudge! But the way Mahmud reacted to his half an inch thick layer of mud being prodded by an older troll was a wig-out shriek, smacking the hand away and taking a step backwards. Incorrectly. Making him fall in the mud on his back and whacking his head. OW.
Charey Browne, that bald-headed stupid cartoon, had nothing on him right now.
As if to take some pity on the poor kid, the snoutbeast came over, sniffing his hair a bit before climbing on top of his chest and flopping across it. "O-OOF G-get off m-me..."
"... Eh. I'll count it. Y'all caught the snoutbeast kid, congrats." The older troll held a handful of tickets out to him. Again, Mahmud swatted the hand away with a little whine and the tickets fell scattered all over him, getting stuck in the sticky mud attached to him. Harpommy came over to start pecking them off. Today ******** sucked.

No cute and clever outfits, no elaborate hay stealing plans, all he wanted to do was to go home and get all this goddamn mud off him... but the stupid Haystack was on his way to a wash station, so he may as well.
Grumpy as all hell, he marched into the haystack (yes, STRAIGHT INTO the haystack), disappeared inside, then came out covered head to toe in the golden strands back to Ommy. This was apparently not only Mahmud's breaking point today, but the hayowner's last straw too. There was literally no comment made to this kid walking off with pounds of hay attached to him. Really there wasn't... wasn't anything TO say.
As the young boy shuffled off blindly in a direction, he bumped into another troll boy. "HEY WATCH IT!" He had no way of knowing that the young boy was the ever-so-lucky Amonee Brycer, and honestly Mahmud didn't care. At this point. All he wanted to do was go somewhere to hide and wash up, and maybe even go home...
Little did he know though... Amonee's possessions decided to come along with him!
