Speak of the gods as they are. Or perhaps more succinctly, as they were. Man creates in his mind many deities, then forgets or abandons them. The ages have seen countless pantheons, over-gods, animal guides and ancestral beings. Then the ages saw them fallen and forgotten. The Edelsteine are what is left...small jewels containing the essence of all those pleas, that worship, adoration and fear. The essence of the gods, like hardened, concentrated drops of ambrosia. And here they are collected, and here they are reborn.
The gods of these crystals are the True Gods. They are the beings that held the power and might that inspired the mortal races of all worlds to give names and worship to the forces around themselves. All sun deities across the universe are the facades of but two True Gods....and so it is with each of the deities presented here. Two deities for each aspect, one male one female, to be reborn into the world and reclaim their followers and power.
______________________________________________ ______________________________________________ The Setting Itself The Gehenna event was averted, the dread tremors in the fabric of what Is have subsided, replaced by a true peace. It is a time of rebuilding, mourning for what was lost, and planning for the future. Not many survived the throes of the impending elemental weeks, but those who have may be glad that they have much to do. Creation is returned, named Harmodius in this form once more.
The court of gods, the Pantheon buildings, remains a haven to many. As the epicenter of Creation's presence food and water are both present in wild abundance, and the carpet of this plenty is lapping in waves further and further out. The home of the gods is now neither shop, nor throne hall, but an open and peaceful place with soaring columns and statues amid moss gardens and plentiful fruit trees. There are raised platforms, but no throne seat, as well as a recessed sitting area with an orators walk over it to act as a forum for those who would have words for the few or masses.
The sky is rebuilt! Using vessels gathered and stars made, Creation has made a work of the Glory, restoring the whole of the fabric that Is. Exhausted, he has gone to cloistered rest and left in his stead an elected Council of Guardians. This is formal abdication in favor of an appointed democratic council. The Council Members were each given a jewel of office, and expected to act in the interests of mortal and immortal alike in the rebuilding of the Unnumbered Realms. They are:
Ruthless Desire(Phaedra), the Overseer of Souls(Nergal), the Silvim Illustirre(Glyph), Worldshield(TianYue), and the Sighted Ashoka(Mortal)
Hail to the Council!

____________________________________________________________________________________________ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How do I get one? A: Read the front page.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: I'm NOT and owner, but I want to RP! What should I do? A: Please join in the fun! You don't need an official pet character to rp in our setting. You DO need to try to be familiar with the lore basics. We love new faces and new rp partners. Please do ask in thread for help if you need it finding information to read or if you have a lore question. Feel free to ask in shop for help getting started. As your character learns how the world works, so can you!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: Is a Portrait required to rp? A: Good gracious no. You can rp without one if you like. Ivy just likes them as better ways to delineate who is speaking than text colours.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: Can a host reject a gem? A: Only before it is implanted, once it's in them, they're done for. And denying a jewel once having seen it is a really, really difficult test of will. Of course, why you would do so when you're here to get a gem in the first place is a mystery.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: Are the Gems ever given to the *wrong* host? A: No. Harmodius isn't so careless with them as that. The gems only ever attempt to implant in the best host suitable for them, and if that host isn't willing by hook or by crook, then the jewel is re-gathered by Harmodius.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: Can someone other than the prospective host handle the gem? A: Yes, as sometimes the only way to get someone to take such an object is if it's given by someone they know, like a friend, a brother, or sister, so Harmodius would put it into that individual's possession and set up the machinations to get the jewel to the host.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: Can I play a mortal character who is stronger than the god and becomes deified from the god-soul of the gem? A: While that is a very interesting theme that has been explored traditionally in various sources, no, in the Edel shop it would not be possible. The reason for this is that if Harmodius tried to gather the essence of a true god, and there really was not enough left to rebirth the god itself in some form, then he wouldn't give it to a host. Why bother raising the previous True Gods at all, in that case? Why not just raise mortals to the status of gods for all the influences? Gems too weak to rebirth the original True God can be used in ritual to influence a birth/mating of Young Gods to get a new deity of that influence.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: Host characters are allowed to be from other worlds, is that correct ? A: The storyverse for Edelsteine is based on the theory that these are the True Gods, and as such they exist in all realms and all dimensions at one time.
Hence they are gods by many names and appearances, but at their cores they are a singular being. Example: Ra, Apollo, Amaterasu, etc gods of light were all actually just names given by mortals to The Male and Female Light True Gods, and the stories behind them differ because of mortal misunderstanding, embellishment, or deliberate cloaking of the truth. And so on an so forth.
Since not every planet or race is necessarily on the same stage of development technologically speaking, all planes are game. You can play a host from a stone age civilization all the way to a hyper future star trek.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: Are these breedable? A: Yes. All pairings apply as does single procreation. These are gods. Zeus had a headache and out came Athena...pairs aren't always necessary if the rp/idea is right. Please see the post on breeding for more information.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: How many Edelsteine can I own? A: Technically, as many as you want. Clarification:These are jewels inserted into your original character. You *cannot* insert more than one jewel into a single character. You *can* have other jewels inserted into other B/C pets (if I deem them appropriate), into other characters you've created (if you write stories or roleplay, maybe you've created a few), or such.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q:Can I lose this pet for not rp-ing it? A:No, this pet is rp only if you chose it to be when you bought it! At purchase you choose rp or non-rp. The only exception to this is Special Editions such as the Dragon Kings and the Grigori.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: When can you take away my pet? A: As the creator of this shop, and the owner of the idea and art Ivynian can at any time revoke an Edelsteine. This is the right of any shop owner, and should be common sense. We're not going to do so without cause, and can be reasoned with. On a case to case basis full refunds will be provided for removed Edelsteine. That is provided it was on good, logical terms.
If an art/pet trade was the method of payment, and the purchaser's part of the trade is not met within a reasonable amount of time, contact and negotiations will be discussed and a warning issued. Further delinquency will result in the revocation of the traded Edelsteine.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: When my jewel fuses with my RP character and it starts to take over, will the deity retain any physical traits that my Original Character has? i.e. tail, wings, any piercings, tattoos or any of the other noticeable things he/she has? A: This is a lineart pet from stages 1-3. That said, some yes, some no. Feature retention is completely random and dependent on the artist's whims. Players may make suggestions as to what they have as ideas about the appearance of their Edelsteine, however, unless you have some form of custom, they are only suggestions. Do not get angry if they are not implemented.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Q: Can I write about the Pre-fading time of my god as long as I don't touch the powers/appearance of them? A: The Fading destroyed much of their selves, and in any case, one of the myriad of reasons for the fading was the inability of the True Gods, in their binding to mortal will, to adjust. They were missing sympathetic elements, had too much of others…..put simply, they were imbalanced. By being reborn through a mortal, you as writers are meant to show the growth of the god to new glory through some gain from the host that was specifically chosen for them. Each host is specific to a gem; the chosen host was chosen for a reason: what could they bring to the god in this life?
That in mind, yes, the past is relevant. Who they were can affect who they become. Not always, some characters may ignore the past and seek to forge themselves from square one. Both are valid storylines.
There are problems with live role-play in the pre-fade era. 1. Most people find it hard to conceptualize that early storyline on their own, especially since its never been fully fleshed out. That was purposeful. The back story of the shop is just that, back story. It is there for the purpose of drawing plot from and not much more.
2. I wanted to give players the freedom to develop the history of the characters. People would feel pigeon-holed if I had created wholly comprehensive family trees and ends for every god before they were released in play.
3. Chances are, unless your god has a reason for being special, they don’t remember much of their past. Especially not at the jewel stage. At the stages your characters are at, what does writing the past serve them now? How is it justified?
3. It isn’t the point of the shop. The gods, as they were, failed and died. The story is now, not then. Write it as flash backs, write it as flavour for current thoughts and motivations. Use the past to enrich the present, if you must write it. But don’t make it the focus in and of itself.
So, the answer to whether you can use a pre-fade rp is yes. But please make it plainly relevant: there should be reasons apparent within the rp itself that relate it to the character’s growth, and also tie into clues in solo/joint rps before it and after it. That is, of course, common sense of good writing/character development.

Stage 1 - Jewel An Edelsteine has four stages. Purchasers will be given a jewel. These jewels contain the essence and magic of a specific type of deity/power/influence. The jewel will be implanted into the owner's body and will begin to form a connection to the owner's soul. -At this stage, your rp is focussed on the slow wakening of the deity withing the mind of your character, and the begining changes. -At this stage, the magic of the deity is wholly limited to the host body and just barely to their environment. Their magic is not yet regained enough to form attacks on other players outside of plain brawl and melee that the body is capable of. It cannot form influence over others either. Such as: a deity if Thought could not yet use telepathy to read another person's mind as a jewel, just their host's.Stage 2 - MorphThe morph is the second stage. It will replace the jewel in the owner's signature, showing the beginning chrysalis of merging between the jewel soul power and the soul of the owner. This process may be interpreted as painful, not painful, fast, slow, whatever, depending on the jewel. -At this stage, the deity is either in process of destroying the hosts mind/soul, is trying to merge with the hosts mind to try to keep some shard of them alive, or maybe some other option. Talk it over with me if you have a fun idea. -At this stage, deities are not reborn yet. Abilities of the host are still partially usable/manifest. Abilities of the deity are basic at best. Maybe one small magic is available to them, and not with great control over it. And example of this would be a water deity being able to fill a glass of water, and that's all. Stage 3 - YouthA "youth", the third stage of the Edelsteine, is the deity reborn. This means that everything is now the deity's. It is their mind, their body, and their soul now. -the original host character, provided they have not been destroyed by the deity, only exists as a whisper, a conscience, or a voice in the mind of the deity. None of their powers remain. They cannot control the body. They were sacrificed for the rebirth of the deity, and if they still exist in that smallest sense, it was only at the desire of the immortal whom is beyond their puny mortal comprehension. Maybe a mannerism of the host, such as sucking on their hair, or liking the color blue, is still apparent. But not much beyond that. -These creatures have minor powers associated with their fields of influence. -These creatures are NOT AT THEIR FULL STRENGTH. A youth deity is a deity with no followers, no believers, no influx of any human regard to return them to their full glory and power. Just as lack of followers or cult is what made them forgotten and killed them, it is what keeps them from becoming great and powerful again. Stage 4 - DietyThe final and rarest stage of the Edelsteine. The powers of this stage will be listed on the cert next to the fully individual art of the character. -It is not a necessary stage of development, however if achieved the deity is at full strength. They can influence the world in major way. (please not this doesn't give any player the right to kill another player's character without consent.) - - - - - - Stage 1 - Babe A Young God Edelsteine has three stages. These are the result of a Edelsteine breeding...aka...these are the little godlings. -At this stage, your rp is focused on the birth and development of the child. They are wholly new to the world, understanding and knowing nothing, despite appearances. They must learn to talk, move, to control their powers( they can use them....but...). -At this stage, the magic of the deity is wholly limited to parlour tricks, small scale 'cantrip' (to use D&D terms) abilities. Stage 2 - Youth -At this stage, your rp is focused on the stretching of limbs and emotions. The new god is discovering the world around them in more depth. This is the stage with the most passions, mistakes, regrets, and joys. This also when, in olden days, young gods got themselves into trouble with their elders and peers....earning their first titles, first enemies, and sometimes died. -At this stage, the magic of the god is developed. They are strong and often trigger-happy. But their magic is only like that of Youth stage normal Edel. Stage 3 - Diety -At this stage, your rp is focused on settling and establishment. The new god is full grown. They have settled with themselves and what they are. They have allies, relics, and their most loyal followers. Now they focus on gathering worship....and on actually being a responsible god. -At this stage, the magic of the god is advanced. They are full grown, kings and queens of their own right. Their power matches a normal edel Diety stage. - - - - - - Limited availability, the dragon kings serve as the pinnacle of the hierarchy of the gods second only to Harmodius. They symbolize power and excellence, valiance and boldness, heroism and perseverance, nobility and divinity. They are energetic, decisive, optimistic, intelligent and ambitious. Temples and shrines have been built to honor them, for they control the waters of the world, the elements in the earth, the gate to the higher realms and hold in their claws the seat of the glass throne in the crystal palace. They are the guardians of the twin crown, Creation and Destruction.
The dragon kings are loyal unto death to Harmodius, who is the Twin Crown that Fashioned the Pearl of the World. Their stages are similar to the normal Edelsteine, however they have a dual cert: the Dragon Kings get 3 extra art pieces/stages that display their dragon form, which they are able to transform into . A morph dragon kin can transform into a dragon twice a day. A youth can transform into a dragon 5 times a day. A deity is at full strength and can transform at will. (Note: reversions to mortal for do not count towards a transformation limit)
Tien-lung , The Celestial Dragon who protects the sky and palaces of Gods Shen-Lung, The Spiritual Dragon who casts the storms and the rain Ti-Lung , The Earth Dragon which control rivers, and water on the Earth Futs-Lung , The Underworld Dragon which guards precious metals and gems. He is the treasurer of the crown. Mang has four claws. He represents temporal power, the powers and kingdoms of men. He served as the emissary between mortals and the throne. Yu The Five Claws dragon became the exclusive emblem of the emperor. His coils wrap and support the throne itself. Great Chien-Tang is the commander of all the River Dragons, he is blood red, has a firey mane, and is 900 feet long. He is the general to the crown's forces. Ying Long is a winged a dragon covered with fur. He served as the mount for the twin crown. Qian Lung, The Black Dragon which guards the Empress and Consort to the Twin Crown.

Requirements to Breed Edelsteine Characters
# Characters involved must be at least of Youth stage or higher. # Non-Edelsteine paired with Edelsteine lovers will not result in deified offspring. If you're looking for that, go to the GMFC. # Any pairings are possible, as is single procreation. These are *GODS* the rules of mortal procreation need not apply. (however it must be a god to produce another god for purposes of less headaches as per above rule.) # To be elligible, there must be played out reasoning for the breeding. Such as a single god being lonely and wanting a spawn, or two characters must be written in a relationship, or such. More then just one or two posts worth. # There is no set number of offspring. It may be 1, 50 or anything in between. It will be up to the involved parent(s) to decide if they want to keep the child(ren) or give it away. THEY MAY NOT BE RE-SOLD. # It will cost 30k. If there is more then one party involved, it is split according to those involved.

New Tally system
Meeting of requirements to evolution are calculated by the owner themselves. Fill out form and post in Evolution Thread when reqs are ready to be reviewed. Every rp to be counted has to be a complete piece: it has a beginning, a middle, and an end.
------Addendum Clause - Closing Unfinished and Abandoned RP – In any stage except jewel to morph, a player may recover up to 5 abandoned or unfinished joint rps. The chosen rp must be able to be logically ended with a single post, and it is the active player's responsibility to write their own end point for their character if they want to count the rps toward tally. The player cannot edit what is previously written, nor god-mod the other character actions.
A Solo rp has to be a completed scene of at least 500 words. Up to an including 1000 words still counts for only 1 rp. 1001+ counts for two. You cannot count a single scene for more than 2, even if it is 3000 words, though that’s probably a nice piece of storytelling. A joint rp is a storytelling scene between more than one person (player). Any number above one. If you own two characters and write them interacting, that is a solo, as there is only one player. It can be two people, three people, twenty, whatever. But each player and character has to contribute more than two posts, and at least 500 words for it to count towards requirements. More than two posts and 500+ words EACH. The scene has to have a definite ending as well, closing the rp. In a solo, if you own both characters, each character has to have 500 words for it to count for a point. If Character 1 has 320, and Character 2 has 562, then only character 2 is getting credit for a point. Yes, you WROTE 882 words, but not for EACH character. In both cases, 1001+ words counted counts for 2 The joint will still need more than two posts. This is the maximum that can be earned for an rp. This avoids bias towards verbose players or over-weighting one scene in the development of a god. Yes, you can write 4000 words in a single joint rp easily, but it is unrealistic to believe that a single encounter would account for 27% of a god's development as a character as a morph. (4000/500 = 8, 8/30 =26.66667 ). By all means write the fullness of your inspiration of a scene, but 2 pts is the maximum req points allotted to any one scene. Enjoy rp for the rp, not the points. Adding word-counts to your solo and rp posts as you go can help make your req tallies go faster.
REGULAR EDELSTEINE, DRAGON KINGS Jewel to Morph 30 req points - Only works of glory allowed. Morph to Youth 100 req points - all mitigation allowed Youth to Deity 200 req points - all mitigation allowed
YOUNG GODS Babe to Youth 50 req points - - all mitigation allowed Youth to Deity 150 req points - all mitigation allowed
GRIGORI Initiate to Brother/Sister 50 req points - all mitigation allowed Brother/Sister to General 150 req points - all mitigation allowed
Please keep in mind that all tallied points are CUMULATIVE, meaning that HerpDerp, a “regular” Morph-stage god (won via the short straw )would need just 70 additional points to earn his Youth evolution! Your god will require a TOTAL of 150 (young gods) or 200 (regular gods) points to achieve full deity evolution!
 - - - - - - - - - General to Arcana 200 req points - all mitigation allowed or 100 req points if started at General, all mitigation allowed
PREMADE GODS Premades will be evolved on the regular system starting from what stage they were created at. Example: if a premade was a youth at sale, then the player needs to complete the 100 req points from Youth to Deity.
Grandfather Clause -
Any player who’s Edelsteine was acquired prior to this revision may choose one of the following options for the continuing evolution(s). This is a one tine, permanent choice assignment, so choose wisely! If you have more than one Edelsteine that fits this criteria, you will choose for each character. 1 - Full clause: Character(s) retain(s) the old tally system and just uses the Evolutions thread to request GM tallies; all point values will remain as they were - including plushies, Works of Glory, etc. They will all still need to be completed to fulfill the old requirements. 2 - Compromise Clause: Character(s) may start counting rps that have happened since the date of their last evolution; if the Old Tally number(s) still exists, it will be consulted as to where the new tally will begin. example: If HerpDerp, god of Stupidity, was an old character and his last evolution was to Youth on Jan. 2 2009, then all his rps after that date would be counted on the new system towards deity. 3 - New system: The player can waive the grandfathering completely, tally their rps according to the new system and then submit for evolutions as appropriate.
Works of Glory
This is a work of some media of art made by the player of that god. Art is a broad category with much room for creativity, including but not limited to paintings, drawings, collage, photography, textiles (knitting, quilting, tatting), installation art, music composition, and musical performance. Considering the wide range of allowed media, works that pertain to the god but are not figural representations can count - as long as the player can make a clear argument as to how/why it is related to the glorification of the god and can explain the symbolism used in the piece, it can count.
Also, while management can't expect or judge everyone to be professionals of a craft, we can expect that there be proof of thought and care taken with a work. Traced submissions, half-finished works, etc are not candidates and if submitted will be laughed atignored. Each player may submit up to 5 works of glory per stage, per god. Each is worth 3 req points.
Commissions by the player This is a work of some media of art purchased by the player of that god. Someone NOT the player made it, and it is a finished piece, linkable and enjoyable by the community. Each player may submit up to 5 Commissions per stage/ god, except Morph. Each is worth 1 req point.
Art gifted the player This is a work of some media of art purchased by someone NOT the player of that god. Someone NOT the player made it, and it is a finished piece, linkable and enjoyable by the community. This encourages community reading and enthusiasm for each other’s characters. Each player may submit up to 5 Gifts per stage/ god, except Morph. Each is worth 1 req point.
Non-God characters and RolePlay
This pertains to the many sorts of non-deified, not-officially-a-pet (but still appreciated) characters that inhabit the setting. This includes, but is not limited to, Mortals, Ageless Immortals, and Aoide. These characters are still perfectly great to roleplay with, however, stories involving them do not always pertain to the advancement of your pet. Even if they do pertain to the development of your god character, there is a limit to how much you should be focusing on secondary literary devices. * The roleplay must be plainly related to the god: either performing a task directly for the god, for the restoration of the god, or some other effect that is obviously attributed to the advancement of the god and their plot.
The mitigation provided by roleplaying an a non-pet character is limited to 3 req points per any stage that allows full mitigation ( IE: any stage not jewel to morph). Pre-ownership role play and accounting – all players are welcomed, and encouraged, to play their host characters prior to receiving a gem/pet officially. It gives the community a way to get to know you and your character and can be massive amounts of fun. Accounting of level begins from date the player is first awarded their gem. No matter how much we may love the character, and may reward dedication to rp in the shop prior to becoming an official owner with aoide, CYOs, portraits, etc., the accruing of req points does not begin until the pet is awarded. (NO CERT, NO POINTS)

For Loot or Inspiration...
This section pertains to in-game quests Players may get quests in one of two ways: by direct inquiry of the DM, or randomly by interacting with the thread NPC's. Quest rewards will vary from items that may be usable in game by the character and visible on their cert portrait, followers towards their plushie counts, aoide, ageless immortals, unique character art, etc. If players are hoping for a specific reward, it should be discussed with the DM. Quests will consist of a single or series of sets of posting requirements in which certain story prompts must be met. Tasks may or may not pertain to the shop meta-plot, and they may or may not have a time limit. Individual quests may or may not involve interacting with/getting help from other Edels. Individual quests are exactly that: someone else can't have that exact same quest. Metaplot quests, however, are different. This are epic endeavors involving NPC's, travel, joint and solo rp. More then one Edel can be working towards the same goal but be on a different quest line.
