Hair Color: Bright, golden blond
Usual Hair Style: Slightly curly/wavy and pulled back/up from face with a large number of clips and other ornamentation or worn loose about the shoulders and hips (Gate has shoulder length hair in front, hip length - or longer - in the back).
Height: 5'2"
Body Type: Delicate but with strength; fairly androgynous even as a female, but definitely not manly macho Mister ManmanMcManmeat...more like your standard mage-type.
Personality:
Gentle, peaceful and a devout pacifist, Gate is a creature that is ruled by the magic that bore xir into the universe and existence. While xe is loathe to raise xir hand to any living creature, xir hands are by no means 'clean'...xe has done many an execution all on xir own because as a Ki'Lin xe has to answer the "call" of any that invoke xir True Name; typically this binds the Ki'Lin to the summoner until his purpose (the Contract) has been fulfilled. Even with such firm ruling tenents, xe is very prone to deep thoughts and much reflection upon everything xe does or may do - including the actions taken under the tenets of a Contract between xirself and the caller of xir True Name (Gate it ain't).
Xir species have long been used as judges of "good" and "evil" by various creatures and beings all across All That Is due to their unfailing skills at detecting when lies are spoken/written/or otherwise indicated within their presence. They have also been used as executioners when one is found "unworthy" by whomever holds the Contract Bond; at such time Ki'Lin can use anything in their arsenals to destroy the Judged - historically this has been by goring the Judged with one's horn. No Ki'Lin can be kept indefinitely, however - and this is some small relief to Gate: A Contract Bond always has limitations and constraints; once the agreed upon terms have been filled, the Bond dissolves and the Ki'Lin is returned to Xir home.
While some of xir kind are happy enough to perform all of these duties, Gate is a pacifist and would prefer being left to xir very pleasant (and generally very quiet) life. It is in this that the racial trait of being able to forget the past save for when bound in Contract comes most handy; if xe had to remember every execution or Judgement, xe would probably not be able to live with xirself.
Likes: Open sky, fine silks, knowledge, ornate objects & ancient texts/artifacts, fruits, grains and vegetables
Dislikes: Being confined, silver chains, uninformed/intolerant persons, violence, meats of any kind, dairy/milk...etc
Hobbies: Painting, gardening, observing mortals, playing a lyre-like instrument
Fears: Losing sense of what xe Feels and forgetting how to tell between what emotions/thoughts are actually xirs, and what comes from the Contract Bond (when in effect), being forced to remember/live daily with all of xir past, being close to someone again and losing them (again).
Abilities: Semi-Phenominal, Not-Nearly-Cosmic Powers - defensive/healing magic; offensive spellcasting disabled currently
Contract Bond related: Divination of Veracity, Final Judgement
History: Gate doesn't remember much of xir past due to a very kind racial trait, but what xe does remember is the more recent parts of xir life; many of the 'contracts' xe has taken, the blood spilled and the creatures Judged, are beyond xir recall. So we shall speak of the time spent with the Oena (a winged race of humanoid unicorn-like shapeshifters), with his once-mate, the Oena Erislan.
One of the Oena Tribal Council procured a Contract with the Ki'Lin race to use him (at the time Gate was identifying more as a masculine aspect) in determining the veracity of the newest would-be leader(s). This was not something typically done, but there were many suspect things and much reason to be extremely careful in this time and so one of the Ki'Lin were brought in. It is unknown just how the Oena's Elder Tribesman Ondelan managed to aquire the summoning spell OR Gate's True Name, but he did and as such the Contract Bond was entered and Gate was summoned from the Ki'Lin's home.
He Judged the Oena tribesmembers Amitasc, Moorava and Tiala and found that only Tiala was being truthful about his claim to the leadership, but Amitasc and Moorava wouldn't go down easily. The Oena warriors fought against the Ki'Lin with their blades and magic; Gate was forced to kill both Oena even though the Contract had only called for Judgement, not an Execution upon failure to pass - the Oena would only have been removed from their power positions and ranked down or perhaps exiled if their lies had been bad enough - but in doing so he was wounded badly.
Due to the wounds he could not leave immediately and one of the Oena acolytes was put in charge of seeing that Gate healed properly and was unmolested by the others; Erislan was chosen to take care of protecting Gate and Erislan's blind brother, the healer Aslah, was to see to his health. Over time Gate grew to care deeply for the people of the tribe and most especially for Erislan. They spent much time together and were mated in a grandious formal ceremony in the Oena fashion as well as in a smaller, more private bonding ritual that came from the Ki'Lin people. There would be no children, however. Gate may physically have had the ability to bear young, but for whatever reasons the Oena DNA or magic was incompatible with the Ki'Lin DNA or magic and no child was born to them, even after years. This lack brought a deep sadness to the Ki'Lin as Erislan was an important member of the tribe and should have beget many children to aid in the continuity of his bloodline and also because Gate, though afraid of having a child born to them that could be called via a ritual into a Contract like himself, truly loved and wanted children.
Much time passed; Erislan's parents began to pressure them to take on a surrogate - to do something -- ANYTHING -- so that Eri's blood might be passed on. The Ki'Lin couldn't bear the thought of sharing his mate nor the thought of keeping his mate from siring a child; he became deeply depressed and considered returning to the Ki'Lin so that Erislan would be free to take on a new mate, sire children of his own kind. Eri wouldn't hear of it, but Gate was resolute; he knew that no matter how beautiful the love they shared, a child was far more beautiful and infinitely more precious. Erislan would get over the loss of the Ki'Lin once he had a baby bouncing on his knee...and Gate, well...Gate would be fine. In time he would forget all about their shared life.
Before Gate could arrange things to leave, there was an attack by one of the draconic creatures that inhabited the lands and the Ki'Lin was badly injured again - this time while defending Erislan by using his body as a shield. Nearly unconscious but with plenty of mana left, Gate managed to whisk himself back to the place of his birth where he spent a great deal of time being healed and purified and trying to get his magic to work properly again. The wounds that he suffered from in shielding Eri had left him unable to control his offensive magicks. His life was fairly boring after that, until someone tried to summon him, only this time something went terribly wrong - his ability to 'travel' wasn't working properly! He felt as though his body was being ripped apart, that his head would split open and he couldn't control himself as he spun around between spaces drunkenly. By some miracle he ended up on Gaia - lost and confused, surrounded by technology, creatures and beings that were quite unlike those he was accustomed to.
Though he was newly brought to Gaia and still getting used to things, he managed to find shelter and being to construct a new life for himself; one without his mate, Erislan. Some odd events happened during a meteor shower and he ended up with a child that he named Valoel. Gate raised this daughter with love and affection until she was killed during the Weeks of Gehenna...the magic that supported her existence on Gaia as well as her own physical state just could not last. Valoel wasted away and Gate could do naught but put her into a coma so that she wasn't forced to dwell in endless pain until she finally passed away.
It is with a twice-broken heart that xe now finds himself wandering Gaia. Gate needs purpose in xir life, and seeks to find it within this strange, newly-reborn world; the pull of the Pantheon is great to this Ki'Lin - the massive amount of power gathered in such a confined area a beacon that guides this traveler.
Anything else we should know about them?: Because TL;DR he's a capsule of some important thangs: Gate is currently mourning not only a long-lost love (the Oena, Erislan) but for xir daughter, a seraph of peace, Valoel. Xe also had a pet goldfish named Rodney VII. Rodney the first was picked up at one of those little festivals where you can get live fish as prizes...but sometimes one might be bought at a shoppe. None of the Rodney-fish can speak or really even think, but Gate adores the silly things nonetheless. No doubt that this will continue as soon as xe finds what has prompted this need to travel.
Gate is also a devout in abstaining from partaking in the consumption of any creature's flesh (no fish, fowl or otherwise living creature must give it's life for consumption).

That she has taken on the name of a powerful sorceress, spellbinder and harridan should be warning enough that Louhi is not a Goddess one would wish to trifle with. She is quick to use what she knows for the benefit of herself and even quicker to do so in pursuit of her goals and aims, whatever those may be at any given time. Perhaps once she was a more giving, gentle soul but the Fading and time have left her with a buring desire to be and to regain her lost status among the Pantheon. That is not to say that she is horribly mean and vicious to everyone unless they are useful to her, but more to say that she is quite strong-willed and driven...and most of the time her former self - more gentle, more open - doesn't surface.
The Fading did many, many wicked things to those that lived it...nearly all were changed in some manner; the Goddess Knowledge simply twisted in onto herself, withdrawing from her masculine aspect and all those she had held dear as one after the other fell silent, dead.
With Rebirth, she may soften due to Gate's gentler nature, but one can never tell - she may find a way to access the memories xe has locked away, draw upon the stronger creature that is unlocked with xir True Name. Only one thing is certain: Louhi is not going to be a Goddess that goes down easily this time! She is fierce and ready for whatever this incarnation has to offer~!
Anything else we should know about them?: Louhi is not her True Name so much as a name she has adopted as her name. Her True Name will be something only Creation/Destruction and perhaps Gianfar know.
