DAY ZERO ENTRY PROMPT: Diana had been wondering where all the guards had wandered off to when the lights went out. She really wasn't sure what that was about, but it worked just fine for her. While in the caffeteria earlier she had managed to get enough items together to make a makeshift lockpick and now was finally her chance to escape. She'd been thrown in there for minor theft this time, but with what she had been hearing on the news before she was thrown in worried her. There had been talks of infection and some sort of virus going around, none of which she wanted to deal with. Just as she was finishing off the lock she heard it. Strangled cries and screams echoing through the hall. Several of the inmates were on edge now, and the lingering question she had thought earlier was still ever present. Where were the guards? Wandering down the hall in attempt to find an exit she discovered just where they were. There was something definitely wrong here and she wanted no part of it. The guards were fighting, but that wasn't the strangest part of it. The strangest was the blood dripping from one of them as he tried to overwhelm the other guard. Spotting her there, the guard quickly shouted at her.
"Don't just stand there inmate! Help me! Get help so-" his shouting was abruptly cut off when the other guard grabbed him by the throat and snapped his neck, the sickening sound as he dropped to the floor lifeless enough to make her gag. That was when the other "guard" turned to her and she realized just how big of a mess she had gotten herself into. The pale guard shambled towards her, it's body riddled in bullet holes and blood. She didn't wait to see anything else beyond that. She simply took off at a full sprint, her lungs burning as she pushed herself to try and find some place to hide. Stuck in a prison with nowhere to turn, she ran towards the laundry room to cower in a bin of clothing. She was scared and alone stuck in someone's dirty laundry. She just hoped the creatures couldn't hear her sobs in the darkness.
