The air outside smelled cleaner after being in that place. The sun was brighter too. Wait. Sun?
Max squeezed his eyes shut tightly, pressing his knuckles to them. When he took his hands away and opened them again, he could see. Everything was an indistinct blob in a varying shade of gray, but it was a start.
He turned to the blob he presumed was Diana. "You're a sight for sore—"
The undying interrupted his cliched sentiment, slamming into his side and sending him stumbling off to his right. He straightened again quickly enough, intending to run as he nearly always did, but the creature was blocking their escape from this narrow alley. Maybe they could fight it?
"Are you serious? You know what I am so done with you nasty things right now!" Diana shouted at the undying, taking a swing at it and actually hitting it. It took a swipe back at her and got her in the side, but lucky or not it hit her already damaged side. "You're not allowed to hurt my friends, you hear?" She continued to shout at it, stepping between it and Max. She was tired, and freaked out, and she really just wanted to go back to her prison and sleep the rest of the day. Now she had to deal with this? Oh she was pissed. Usually she would've ran away from it, but not today.
He took a step back when Diana started beating the thing to within an inch of its unlife, still on guard but feeling a whole lot better about their prospects. Max squinted at the fight, looking for a place where he might eventually cut in.

she's a BEAST XDD max, on the other hand, is useless
She swung again, but this time it seemed the undying was ready for her and knocked her over to the side causing her to slam roughly into the alley wall. Her shoulder had started to function better and she could move her bad arm a little bit, but not enough to catch herself from the attack of the creature in front of her. Still, it looked to be wearing down fairly fast so she could only hope they'd finish it off soon.
And there it was. His time to cut in. He regretted not doing so sooner, but the thing had been much less distracted than it was now. Max stepped forward, pulled back his fist, and jabbed the undying hard at the base of its skull, drawing its attention back in his direction.
Now that the undying was focused on Max, she could get a hit in! She pushed herself from the wall and kicked at its leg, hoping to knock it over. They were getting better at this whole taking out undying thing, and she could only hope they really did make it out of this alright. It seemed the undying didn't know where to turn now since it was being damaged from both sides, and it looked almost ready to collapse.
The zombie did collapse for a second, but it only fell to its knees before it was back up again. It would have been the perfect time to hit it, but Max hesitated and the moment was lost.
It was almost dealt with and yet it seemed the two of them couldn't get any hits off. Maybe it was from their injuries or maybe something else, either way they really needed to get it together so they could go home.
"Yeah, kind of like..." He smacked at the undying with the flat of his palm, which was not tackling it at all, but it was enough. It fell again, and this time it didn't get up. But it would. They needed to be far away when it did.
