Kallan was so incredibly done with her human. She'd run off yet again, how she wasn't sure, but the fog was getting thicker and harder to navigate. She wanted to just find the portal and throw the girl in! Then she'd be done and they'd be happy that she succeeded. Oh if only it were that easy.

"Oi! Where tha 'ell are ya, human?" she shouted, wandering around more.

Diana had woken up in a panic once more, disoriented and being chased by the strange shadowy thing. She didn't know what was happening or why she kept passing out. She didn't even know where she was anymore. The fog was familiar, but that was all. There was no one around for her to cling to or get help from. She just wanted to find Max and make sure everything was okay with him. After their little fiasco with the hospital she was concerned he was going to hate her.

Brenley, on the other hand, was quite nervous. When the fog had begun to roll in he had hurried to the men's room where he'd left his human, only to find the man missing entirely. He hadn't meant to put his unconscious charge in danger, but negligence was a common theme for the boil, so this was not really all that surprising.

He hurried outside at a jog, despite the noise he made and the fact that he couldn't see, and after a bit of wandering, he heard a familiar voice. Karen? Kallas? Kallan?

"Kallan!" Yes, that was it. "Did your human get away too?"

Meanwhile, Max shied away from the strange sounds he recognized as the voice of the shadow he had hit, not because he was any more or less frightened than he had been for the past month (if it had only been a month at this point), but because he didn't want to sleep anymore and he was pretty sure that creature had caused him to. Or maybe it had been the explosion. Whatever the cause, he could tell he was waking up from a lengthy and unnatural nap and he wasn't about to return to it without a fight.

He yawned, holding his arms out in front of him as he stumbled through the fog. Max might have continued on indefinitely if he hadn't heard a rustling up ahead and seen a flash of orange amid the grey. He crouched. Maybe whatever it was hadn't seen him yet.

"Ey Brenley yea? I've been runnin 'round trying ta find her for the past hour. She's been causin me issue this entire time," Kallan sighed, motioning towards the fog in frustration. "Hard ta see with all tha fog too. Need some sort of goggles or somethin' for all this." She'd left her alone for a short time to go and relax, and it had been a mistake. Now the woman was gone and there was no telling if she would be found or not.

Diana wanted to call out for help, but the shadowy figure was behind her trying to come for her. Her head was aching from an unknown source, maybe from the fog? It felt like more than that though, like she'd been smacked upside the head or something. She was scared and alone and just needed to get out of this fog. She thought she'd seen a figure in the fog, but it was so hard to tell.

"I-is anyone out there?" she whispered, hoping she wouldn't regret speaking up.

He felt a little guilty at the relief that lifted his spirits when she said hers had been giving her trouble. His human had been entirely unproblematic between the punch and now, and he was grateful for that. Bren supposed he had been lucky. If only he could have stayed that way.

"I can't even begin to guess where I might look," he muttered, squinting into the fog. She was right. It was entirely too dense to see through. "Or how I'll get him to calm down and stick with me once I find him. I don't want to have to hit him again." Brenley thought he might give her a scarf to tie around her eyes, but he could think of no enchantment that would help her see through the fog and it wasn't as if she needed conventional protection from it. "I guess we could just pick a direction and look around?" It was as good a suggestion as any.

Max told himself that just because he recognized the voice and color of her jumpsuit, he shouldn't just announce his presence. He had seen so much since all of this began that he could only guess at the hidden powers the fog might have yet to show them. Mimicry was definitely a possibility. Or simply more hallucinations, the kind Diana had been having before he had left her alone. He shouldn't have gone. No matter how close he had tried to linger, he should have known they would be separated.

He moved toward her person slowly, arms still outstretched to show he was empty handed, his crowbar missing. "Diana?" Max sincerely hoped it was her. "Don't panic, all right?" In addition to the absence of his weapon, a hunk of his hair was missing, the bit that was always getting in front of his right eye, no matter how many times he pushed it back. "We just need to find our way out of the fog." Again. Why was this place so foggy?
