Sixty-five. She was up to sixty-five again. That was over half again. She'd be fine, right? She sure hoped so. She needed to take a break - she wasn't sure how good she actually was at blackjack, after all.
She glanced over at her table companion. "Don't play," she said. "Let's, um, take a break. Have...snacks."
All Monica had was her kinder egg, and she was actually pretty full. But that didn't matter - they needed an excuse to not gamble all their coins away. Because, as Monica had learned...their lives were on the line. "What did..." Monica paused, searching Diana's face carefully. "W-we need to be careful," she said eventually, voice shaky. "When I got here, there was a boy..."

Diana didn't want to pull herself away. She wanted to keep trying to win and keep building up her coins. She need fifty more for her own freedom, but that wasn't enough. She couldn't let anything bad happen to anyone else she knew. She had to stay focused, keep playing, keep winning in order to save the people she'd interacted with and come to think of as family. The Boss had bought himself already, so at least there was that. That would keep their faction together and standing longer. It just didn't help the normal ones like them. The ones who had to earn their coins little by little. She could do one more round before she stopped, maybe two. She could win more! Shaking her head, Diana placed her cards down for a moment and really thought about what she was saying. She needed to take a break. Monica was right about that. All of this stress about trying to win was getting to her and she just needed to sit and breathe for a moment. Clear her head and really think about what she was doing with herself.
"I'm sorry, you're probably right. Stepping away from it will be good for both of us. We've got a little bit of time. We can plan and figure things out," she agreed, moving farther away from the table as she spoke. "I just don't want anyone else to be shot or killed over this stupid casino. It's not worth it. Everyone deserves to live."

"Yeah," said Monica, nodding. "It's so unfair that...that they're putting prices on everything." She knew it wasn't real money, but...wasn't everyone worth the same? Sure, Monica would gladly pay far more for Cory's own life than hers, but she was also scared that if she bought him out without buying herself, then she'd be in danger. She didn't want that.
She scuffed her shoes along the floor. "Are you over half, at least?" she asked, tilting her head over at her friend. "I can't believe..." Her voice trailed off, and she looked around them. "Okay, better question. I think we - we need to." She swallowed. "We need to prioritize. I'm having enough trouble with these games already. And if I had to save someone that wasn't me, it'd be - it'd be Cory." And then Greta, if she could manage even that. Oh, Greta -
"And you'd save...um, Max, right?" They needed to look for them, and then maybe go around figuring out which games might be more profitable. Out of all these games here...Monica just didn't know. "Let's see if we can, um, wander around and see them. So we can see their prices."
Man, that sounded harsh. Everything was harsh here - even the glare of the lights were harsh. She was never setting foot in a casino again.

"A good plan, and probably best to clear our heads before we get in too deep with this game and lose track of time. But yes, I am a bit over halfway for myself." Diana glanced around the bright casino, wondering where everyone could possibly be. "We warned a lot of people over the radio, but I'm still not sure who all has one or if they even listened to our broadcasts. It seems to me that a lot of them are getting piled in without much choice in the matter. Maybe....well maybe if we find our way back close to the entrance of the casino we can locate your brother and Greta, and I can locate Max. Even if we don't get to warn them in time we can at least explain things to them a little better." Maybe tell them to drop any loot they don't need to lower their price, or even lie about their age. She knew Max was thirty, right on the cut off point for two different bracket of points. Maybe that was something that could work.
"How old do you think Greta is? And how old is your brother? Maybe they can lie about their ages? Oh but they might get into trouble for that....hm. I wish there was an easier way to go about helping everyone, but I don't really think there is."

Monica had kind of assumed their friends were already in here - but it was true. People were being herded here like sheep, and their communications over the radios...well, she'd heard Diana's voice. It had not been very easy to parse what she was saying. "Um..." she said, considering. "That might actually be smart," she said. "Cory's been traveling light, fortunately, but he's - he's seventeen. And Greta's...she's pretty old."
That was a good thing in this case, right? Monica didn't remember what else she was carrying. "We could tell them to just - to stuff all their food down their throats, too," she added, cheered. She clicked her radio on, but just then a loud song started blaring on the speaker nearest her. She jumped.
"...where do you think it'll be quiet enough?"

"Maybe....well maybe they have a bathroom here? Can't have all these people here and not give them a place to go pee or anything. That'd cause quite a few incidents," she replied, trying to glance around in hopes of spotting one. It didn't really help with how short she was, and the lights were fairly blinding to top it off.
"Where oh where are you," she grumbled, craning her neck. "You think if I jumped up on a chair they'd get mad?"

Monica opened her mouth. She'd have said no if they were in a normal casino. "...I don't think you should," she said, after a while, thinking of the boy being gunned down for running. What if they thought she was trying to find the exit?.
It was so strange. Everything in here looked so happy, but very few of the players looked truly as excited or relaxed as Monica expected they might feel. It wasn't...right.
She scratched her neck with worry. "Ah - what - I mean, they're keeping us here for a day, so there has to be one...maybe if we follow the wall?" They could tell the dealers they were admiring the art. And looking for the bathroom. (Then again, Monica had felt her body doing unbelievable things, lately - her scars from that fight yesterday - yesterday? - had completely healed over already. What if...?)

Nodding, Diana glanced around before slowly making her way over to the wall to follow it around. The guards were making her nervous, but they weren't doing anything awful so maybe they wouldn't suspect anything from them. They were simply checking out the casino, yeah. No harm in admiring an interesting building while they were there.
"This place is very strange. I don't understand how they're able to use so much electricity, and then there's this weird thing with our injuries, or maybe it's just mine and I'm going crazy." That was a possibility too.

They both knew what to say, after all. Only one of them needed to get into the bathroom. "You head that way; I'll head to the left. And if I don't see you again...please get yourself out." As Monica had learned, Diana was just too good for this place.
