He expressed little interest in most things and made no attempt at interacting with others. He was reclusive, tempestuous, spiteful, and unruly, particularly at the onset. He didn't care for his well being, didn't eat unless prompted, and didn't outwardly show a desire to make friends or be around others. The change of lifestyle was hard on him, but as he adapted to the more sedentary life of living with his adopted father, Xilarn and being around an actual community, his more innate nature (coupled with select characteristics from his deceased mother) will begin to show.
No one could've known what to expect from the lost little boy as he grew and adapted.
As he grew, Aki adopted of curiosity of all things- all people, all walks of life, and a great manner of activities. From a young age, he was drawn to things he can distract himself with, and will quickly come off as impatient and rowdy, eager for attention and self-centered all at once. He's a fidgeter and a talker and will use anything and anyone to fill this need. Akiyal will forever be trapped in a state of desperation for travel and movement, as he once did in his younger years when his mother was still alive. While generally peppy and open, he can become quite combative and ill-tempered if his wants/needs are denied and has little patience for people who consistently refuse him. He has no desire for taking anything slowly, and would just as soon tangle any random stranger up in his activities as he would be to do anything alone.
He is smug, impulsive, and flirtatious without really meaning to be, and rarely considers other's emotions before acting or speaking. Strangers are approached with an almost falsetto sense of polite cheerfulness. Akiyal doesn't have a great trust for people as a whole and suspects he's more likely to get what he wants if he starts on favorable terms. He is adventurous and peppy, and approaches others with a smile, though there is no guarantee it'll remain that way. When he is challenged or attacked, Aki fights back. Sometimes with words. Sometimes with blows. He's just as likely to have 'started it' as not. He can be vindictive and mean on a bad day, and staying on his good side generally means attempting to cater to his ever-fluctuating wants. His loyalties are hard-won, and may not necessarily be worth the battle since he is always interested in something new.
He is prone to rapid and often uncalled for shifts in mood, something attributed to his mother's personality. While there are many things about many people Aki doesn't like (and he isn't afraid to say as much to anyone's face), he does try to focus on things he does like in each person and has an unfortunate tendency to have a 'favorite' friend/lover/person depending on who currently has the longest list of traits he deems likable. He is most forgiving toward his 'favorite' and tends to cling to an unhealthy degree. Because when you let people leave, "they don't come back."
Despite this, he has a bad habit of wanting to push people's buttons and making them work for his attention and is still extremely apt at being a petulant teenager. By sheer virtue of just wanting to be combative, he oftentimes does the opposite of what anyone else wants, occasionally against his own self-interests.
He is not the brightest or the quickest. He's far from being the strongest or the noblest. Akiyal is almost singularly interested in himself and doing what most benefits him. Since he hates being alone, he tries to almost forcibly keep people near him, with threats and manipulations, if he can't manage to with just his pep. Unfortunately, his selfishness tends to drive people away, leaving him irritated, bitter, mistrusting, and spiteful. Description: Youngling Aki is a short young boy with a slightly more rotund bone-set. Weeks spent traveling alone and hungry across the plains have left him thin, brittle, bruised, and scraped. In the weeks to come, he will regain some of his more childish weight. His hair is plush and toned to that of sand, cut to the nape of his neck with straight bangs that frame his face. Eyes are a vibrant sky-blue and hooded after his trials. He has salmon-colored, gem-like crystals along his shoulders, forearms and calves that erupt in clusters. For the most part, he wears thin, muted colors of clothes, styled in tribe-like layers. With beads and feathers woven in. Prentice Aki has long since grown out of being small and malnourished. He eats nearly anything put in front of him and has the weight to show for it. He's taller than most teenagers his age and is by no means skinny, either. Rambunctious adventures throughout Sauti have left him almost constantly filthy, bruised, scarred, and otherwise injured, though that doesn't ever seem to put a dampener on him. Akiyal is generally in a pretty good mood at this point in his life, even if he enjoys giving other people a hard time. Clothes should be such that allows him free range of movement. He dislikes shoes. Guard Akiyal continues to sprout up and out like a weed. He isn't especially physically adept, but the struggles of traveling through Tendaji have given him very lean muscles hidden somewhere among his figure. He is neither skinny, muscular, or pudgy, but is trapped somewhere in the teenage awkward middle-ground. He's generally messy, dirty, and tattered (though not because cleanliness isn't available). On occasion, his stringy, shaggy-dog blond tresses will be tied back just for vision purposes. Clothing is hit or miss when matching or even there at all, dependent on his mood, of course. H I S T O R Y
Akiyal has never lived a stationary life. From his birth, his mother had always traveled with him at her side. She went where the birds took her, and paid little to no mind of others. While they would occasionally stay in group convoys, Vinestra had no intention of being tied down by familial or friendly ties. So Akiyal's life was always on the move. Nestra was a fun and peppy (if not entirely safe) mother, and despite her active, adventurous lifestyle, she kept her son's well-being at heart.
Aki never knew his father, and was instead graced with fantastical tales that he was laid in a bird's egg and really had an avian for a parent. He didn't have any binding association to any particular group of Wind others (or any others), so while his mother may have known of people or families, Aki is rather unfamiliar with them, and he doesn't suspect they are particularly familiar with him, either.
When the Alkidike extremists marched on Sauti, Nestra abandoned her four-year-old son with a wandering tribe near Tind and left for the battle. News of casualties traveled quickly, unless names (like Nestra's) were unknown. But as family and friends returned to the tribe, Aki began to suspect that his mother would never be among them. He heard whispers of people dying, never to return. Though his mother's name was not one of the ones whispered, he knew what she'd been apart of. Despite his age and lack of ability or direction, he fled the tribe and headed off in hopes of learning more.
As it was, Akiyal was not capable of taking care of himself in the wilderness. He was young and untrained, and now at five years old had managed to survive the lands between Tind and Kesris, where Xilarn found him.
Akiyal neither wanted nor tried to get along with Xilarn at first; a strange man that lived a strange, uninteresting life with another man (Kennet) that Aki hardly even had the chance to know before he was gone. This is what brought the young Wind man some semblance of camaraderie with his would-be father. They'd both been abandoned by someone they loved and were not likely to see them again. No one but each other.
Aki adopted the role of 'son,' and attempted to grow accustomed to living a stationary lifestyle. It wasn't exactly thrilling. But at the time, it was enough to just be by someone that needed him and explore the very minimal lands available to him, at least until Xilarn decided to take Aki to Oba to meet the rest of his family.
Unfortunately, Xil's family was not especially interested or fond or Akiyal. Their distaste for him encouraged the young Wind man to set off on his own, for the most part, and he managed to find himself in Tale with the company of his childhood friend, Kan and Kan's mother, Janella. For a few weeks, they traveled through Sauti, Tale, and Jauhar on a merchant excursion to collect the season's supplies.
When they turned back to head home, their camp was attacked, and Janella went missing.
Kan, of course, was eager to find his mother and prepared to do nearly anything. While looking out for his own self-interests, Aki convinced Kan that they should stay with a traveling dance troupe to continue their search, where the pair met Nikaio, a wandering Water boy. Aki's stubbornness and lack of sincerity lead Kan to abandon him soon after, and though Aki didn't realize or acknowledge it, yet, this was far from pleasing.
Since then, he has wandered, finding time to stay with various others, but eventually growing bored of each and claiming that he was 'abandoned' when his wants weren't met.
Heavy Hitter: A guard, regardless of weapon being used, does an unusual amount of damage when they put their mind to it. This attack deals an additional +3 to damage only. Can only be used once every 3 turns. Considered a full turn attack.
Massif ||
Bone Splitter: This attack packs not only a punch, but also a chance to stun your opponent. Roll for attack as normal. Add +3 to damage. When rolling to hit if your roll is 17-20 (not including bonuses) your opponent gets a -5 to dodge. If your opponent fails to dodge they are 'stunned' and not able to counter or retaliate that turn. Can be used once every 3 turns. Considered a full turn action.

o1. Xilarn deposits his son with a 'babysitter' while he goes off to hunt. Aki doesn't realize this is a several-day adventure. Akiyal and his friend have story time to ease his mood. o2. Akiyal is not pleased with Xil when he returns. Apologies come in the form of flying lessons and after a lengthy span of several years, Xilarn asks if Aki wants to meet his family. o3. Xilarn and Aki travel to Oba, where Aki has his first (and hopefully last) encounter with his grandparents. No one seems quite as thrilled with the meeting as anyone originally hoped, and things take a loud, turbulent turn for the angry and hurtful. o4. Displeased with his grandparents' reaction to him, Aki flees and bumps into a nomad named Arijah. Xilarn finds them, but Aki has had more than enough of living a sedentary life. o5. Tale Adventures:
-- After returning to home alone (at Akiyal's own insistence that Xil stay behind in Oba), Jan and Kan ask him if he'd like to join them on their errand-running trip to Tale. Despite knowing he shouldn't leave home without his father's permission, Aki accepts. -- Akiyal and Kan have a spitting contest. -- Aki, Kan, and Jan become the target for a bandit raid in the middle of the night. Aki realizes he's big enough to be good at hitting things. The boys are separated from Jan. -- Despite Aki severely disliking the idea of being abandoned himself, he elects to stop helping Kan search for his mother in favor of joining Nikaio's dance troupe and continued exploration. Things do not go over smoothly.

Familiars ❤Gadot: A sandy-colored raptrix that is daddy Xil's mount, played by Fluffesu. We have never gotten along. My earliest memories involve a hefty amount of growling and snapping and slinking away from me any time I entered the room. Dad says Gadot doesn't like kids, and I suppose he's too stubborn to alter his feelings now that I'm older. Fine. We keep our distance and ignore each other, despite living under the same roof. I don't even try to offer him my scraps anymore.' ❤Naeght: A large, fluffy, older, purple-sunset colored raptrix that Aki took from Xilarn for his own. 'My father had two raptrix when I joined his family. First was Gadot, of course, and then there was Naeght. It was obvious my dad hadn't bonded with him the same way he had with Gadot. Naeght is older, used to living a life of freedom. He's more wild and untamed. He does what he wants. Even when I was young, I knew a kindred spirit when I saw one. Naeght must've thought the same. He joins me on my adventures now, even though I know in his age, leaving behind the comfort of home is hard.'
My NPCs ☒/❤Aamil: Xilarn's father, making him, in essence, Akiyal's grandfather. Short Description: A near-ancient man that Akiyal was never even allowed to meet until he was in his mid-teens. Aamil has lived in Oba for his entire life and is extremely jaded toward the vast majority of Tendaji. He has strong supremacy tendencies and is deeply bitter toward the 'savages' for freeing the Matori slaves from Oba's control. He resents the current Oban monarchy and dislikes anyone not of pure Fire Earthling blood. He has always worked in the military, as has most of the rest of his family for generations. 'We had one brief, "heartfelt" encounter. Immediately upon seeing me, he decided I was a blight upon his family, not worthy to step foot in his country or home and certainly devoid of the privilege to so much as look upon him. I can't honestly believe people like this still exist. It feels like it's been forever since the war, yet he acts like it happened yesterday. I'd be happy if my son found a family to love, I think. Even if they didn't look like me... I can't imagine I would hate them on sight, anyway.' ☒/❤Cantara: Xilarn's mother, making her, in essence, Akiyal's grandmother. Cantara is two years older than her husband and sports the same diminutive stature of her youngest son. She has short, bristly dark hair and clear red eyes. She has soft, rounder curves and doesn't generally seem to be in bad spirits. Her marriage was arranged to Aamil's while she was fairly young, so she has never once left Oba. Tara is the most soft-spoken of her family. 'She didn't have much to say to me during the one time I visited her and her husband's household. I think she was certainly surprised when my father walked in with me. I can't imagine why. She must've known I wasn't an Oban before seeing me. I'm sure Dad told her, so she just... didn't believe him, maybe? Didn't think her son would ever actually- Hnn... She wasn't outright mean, like Aamil, but she didn't do much to stop him, either. I've about as much respect for her as I have for him. Maybe less.' ❤Janella: A Wind woman that lives near to Akiyal's home in Kesris. Short Description: A single mom with one full-blooded Wind boy. She's younger than Akiyal's father, Xilarn, but full of spunk and spit and not willing to take nothing from nobody. She's short with a full figure and a long, curly mass of hair that she tries to keep pinned back. She's also very expressive in every way, being flamboyant with both her facial expressions and body gestures. She's great with kids and volunteers to babysit for anyone who needs it. 'Mmm, I had most of my interactions with Janella at a young age. Despite this, she ain't exactly easy to forget. I was pretty close friends with her kid, so I spent plenty of time in her home. She made real good jerky brownies. Yeah, it sounds gross, but she's always been a woman to make the best of a weird thing. Y'know, thinking back on it... She wasn't all that unattractive, either... Overall, outta personality and appearance and general mannerisms... Seven of ten.' ❤Kan: A Wind boy one year Aki's senior. Janella's son. Short Description: A loud and rambunctious little lad that is smaller than Akiyal, despite being older. Akiyal and Kan terrorized Kesris in their very young years, often disrupting shopkeepers and merchants with their loud voices and thieving ways. Fortunately, neither of them were very good thieves and they were often caught and sent home together. Time has mellowed them, but they are still close. 'A good guy, and my best friend. We've been together for near a decade now, and besides the usual spit between pals, we get along alright, and I don't see that changing. When he was real little, he had high hopes for adventure, just like me. He's calmed a lot, and I think I've gotten worse. I don't see this being a problem, though. Even if I go off for a couple weeks or a month or a year, at least I know where he'll be. I can come back 'round often for him, I guess.' ❤Vinestra: Akiyal's deceased mother. Wind clan. Short Description: Nestra was an overall unimpressive woman. She was petite in stature, flat in all the places women have curves. Short-cropped, messy nest of golden hair, and dark ocean-blue eyes. Despite her rather boring and unattractive figure, she had a colorful personality full of whimsical childlike wonder and enthusiasm. She didn't often offer her time to many, but she was loyal to anyone who was loyal to her. 'My mother. I distinctly remember being blindly hooked on her for the first half-decade of my life. She was my everything. Even now, I remember her voice more than I remember her appearance. We had fun. We traveled many places. I know that much. But with time handling things the way it does, I can't rightly say I remember too much about her. She told me I was born to fly, and those are the words I keep close at heart.'
