Personality:
Modest – There are some individuals out there who like to brag and show off their skills or wealth that they may possess; Arijah is not one of these people. Humble and demure, if she receives a compliment from someone, she is likely to down play whatever is being spoken highly of. She doesn’t like to draw a lot of attention to herself, and she feels that behavior such as bragging does just that. But it isn’t just in her personality that Arijah is more modest. She is also modest about how she dresses and conducts herself as well. Never one to show large amounts of skin, the young woman prefers to keep herself covered as much as possible. Only around her brother is this behavior more lax, as he is the closest person to her. She feels comfortable enough around him to show her hair or bare skin from time to time (though, even then, it isn’t often). One can also not expect Arijah to be overly vulgar or prone to arguments. She tries her best to keep calm and collected and to present herself in a manner that is professional.
Selfless – Arijah loves to help others, regardless of if they are other people or animals. If there is someone in need, then chances are that Arijah will go out of her way to help. She has always been this way, ever since she was a child, and doesn’t hesitant to lend a hand if she sees an individual struggling. She doesn’t do it for praise or for any sort of reward; she does it simply because she enjoys helping. Her selfless nature, however, has its downsides as well. The young woman has a tendency to put others first so much that she often forgets to take care of herself. It isn’t unheard of for the Oban to forget to eat or sleep. She has to be particularly careful not to overexert herself too much, less she pass out from exhaustion. Her brother is the main person that seems to keep this in check, as he is the one to remind her to take care of herself.
Insecure – Aedelric’s sister would never admit it out loud, but she isn’t one to think very highly of herself. Although her parents showered her with affection and praise when they were alive, she never really took any of it to heart. In her eyes, she never viewed herself as pretty or particularly skilled at anything. Her lack of self-confidence is also one of the reasons that Arijah covers up as much as she does. Aside from not wanting to show a lot of skin or even her hair, she doesn’t think she is pretty enough to display it outwardly, even if she wanted to. Her insecurities started before her parents passed, but they probably got worse once they were gone. Being an orphan, constantly moving from one place to another, and only having one real person to turn to can be a lot for one person to handle. Growing up, other kids probably weren’t as kind to her, either, which certainly didn’t help to boost her self-esteem.
Quirks
Always wears long-sleeved clothing, regardless of temperature. Rarely takes off her headscarf, except around other women & occasionally her brother. Looks down a lot when she is flustered or embarrassed. Is more comfortable around women than men. Maintains a very pacifistic attitude; will fight only in self-defense (and even then it's rare).
