Mysterious Wreckage
Prompt 2

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Rumors are spreading of a traveler who has entered the area. Apparently, this traveler has a strange item they claim comes from a different time. It's hard to believe what people are saying, and the only way to really know what is going on is if you see it with your own eyes. So, you make it a point to travel to where the traveler was last sighted, and as you approach you notice a crowd. The traveler is holding up an object, high above their head, and shouting across the crowd. Some approach to get a closer look, some appear fearful, but everyone can agree...this is something no one has ever seen before.

What exactly is the traveler showing off? Roll 1d6 to determine what strange item has been found using the guide below:

Rolled 1-2
The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, warped a bit on the edges and covered with an unknown language. It looked similar to what you've read, and you think you can make out words, but overall it doesn't make much sense.

Rolled 3-4
The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, wound around and almost bouncy in nature. It seems a bit sharp on the edges, but in general it looks like it could possibly be some sort of jewelry piece, if it was smaller.

Rolled 5-6
The traveler pulls two strange pieces of metal, which don't seem to go together outside of their color. One is covered in a language that sort of looks familiar, but isn't fully legible. The other is a winding spiral, which is too big to wrap comfortably around a wrist.

"This is not what you said we'd be doing, Akiyal..." Kan grumbled stiffly as the younger man steered him through a busy Sautian marketplace.

His companion didn't seem as put off by the words as Kan might've hoped. Aki stood behind the smaller man, hands on either of his shoulders, half-pushing, half-leading him into a small, voracious throng of people. Kan could practically feel him beaming behind him. "Ah, you know," Aki said flippantly. "Can't read the future, and all that. Who can really say what we'll be doing until we're already doin' it? Dunno what's got you in such a temper-"

At that, Kan's feet froze in their steps. Despite Akiyal being the larger and more physical adept of the two, the abrupt halt gave him pause, and he thudded against Kan's back in his momentum. Though it was very mildly peeving, it didn't merit much response outside of that. With a shrug, the younger blond rested his head on his friend's (strangely tense) shoulder and peered at him from his hunched position. "What's up, huh? You see something you wanna-"

"You know what I meant," Kan muttered softly. Aki blinked at him, so the older boy shook his head. "We're back in Sauti. Practically home, and we still haven't left your troupe..."

It was true enough. While the two boys were on their own for the moment, the rest of their posse lingered just outside the village, handling all their chores and setting up their camp and probably hardly minding that the two brainless Wind lads were out of their hair for the moment. Which suited Aki just fine, since he didn't want to be partaking in any of that, anyway. He'd rather do the sightseeing bit. He'd expected Kan would want the same.

Instead, this again.

Akiyal groaned loftily and raised an arm to scrub at his eyes in mild irritation. Kan was always ready to leave the troupe. Always wanting his mommy. Always concerned something might've happened to her and ever desperate to know now, now, now. Maybe it was heartless, but Aki was tired of this complaint. It was time for his friend to shut up and just be grateful they were on this adventure together.

He peeled himself from Kan's backside, stepped around him, and made to stride off. Kan had his fingers clasped around Aki's bicep as soon as he took his first step. "Do not walk away from me," the other boy threatened quietly.

Frankly, Aki didn't like his attitude. Kan was a bit of a pushover. He wouldn't do anything Akiyal couldn't handle, so rather than take the warning, he ripped away with a sneer. "Get over it, Kan," he snapped back. "I'd think you'd be happy. This is the most excitement you've ever had in your life!" He whipped around and continued toward the crowd.

"Not everyone wants what you want, Akiyal! Don't walk away from- I'll leave you!" The other Wind boy shouted, an edge of desperation creeping into his voice. It gave Aki pause. He stilled in his tracks, but didn't glance back. Kan continued. "I'll leave you if you walk away from me." It was very near too cruel for Kan to even say out loud. However, the other boy had started it. Kan swallowed. "You said we would go home. We're practically here already, and it's time for us to go back to Kesris. We can't just not go back... Please."

Kan's problems, Kan's problems, Kan's problems. Akiyal was not interested in Kan's problems. Besides, the smaller boy would not go anywhere by himself, but if he was going to threaten it, Aki didn't feel inclined to put up a facade of apology and fear. Kan would not leave him.

He shrugged, tossed a wave and a, "Do what you want," over his shoulder and left.

There were other, more interesting things to see here. Stalls of shining merchandise, food, a man with a great bronze tablet and a small flock of people around him, cooing in awe and wonder. Akiyal did like to have things that made people coo in awe and wonder. Though for him, personally, the metal plate didn't really look like much of import.

He was probably just trying to hype it up and sell it for quick coin.

No, thank you, Aki wasn't as dumb as all that.

He passed by breezily, more interested in finding something with a little more entertainment value. Maybe a game of slats or cards or something else he could do on boring nights with the troupe. Thoughts of his best friend abandoning him were roughly shoved to the wayside. Kan would not leave him, though Kan also very rarely threatened him. It should've meant something to Aki. But it didn't. He'd made a mistake.

He left the market alone, and when he returned to camp, the other Wind boy wasn't there.
