User ImageName: Uuni Kierstedt

Nickname: Do you really want to shorten that name? (Her sister calls her Sunshine. Uunst might also be used by a certain mail-lady by the name of Kesslan Reever. “Slut” is also not uncommon.)

Age: 23

Birthday: March 12th

Sign: Pisces

Gemstone: Sunstone

Blood Type: O negative

Fav. Food: Lamb

Hated Food: Broccoli

School: Receptionist at "Herbst Paper Company" + Part Time at Destiny City University

Hobbies:

Daily Coffee -- On some days, this is more like breakfast, lunch, and dinner coffee. Uuni will drink most coffee, from black to heavily sweetened, as long as it packs tons of caffeine. She’s usually trying something different every day, and the barista’s know her well. While she’s been known to make coffee herself, she usually goes out to get coffee, and this is a must at least once in her day. As a result, she can probably draw you a map of all the café’s in Destiny City and give you a brief (perhaps unhelpful) critique of just how bad the coffee tastes at each one.

Flirt to Slut in 0.08 Seconds – Uuni is friendly. Perhaps a little too friendly, and she’s not shy about it. She’ll say hi to anyone the first time, and no-go signals are few and far between. She talks like a flirt, and acts like a slut, regardless of whether she is sleeping with anyone or not. It means she’s often out in clubs, chatting with the girl behind the counter at the coffee shop, or trying to catch the Librarian’s attention by being loud. She knows she’s good at it, and it’s a source of ego and security. If she’s not trying to catch your attention, she’s probably having a horrible day.

Social Addict – To the club! Uuni spends many of her nights up late, out either hopping bars, or hitting the dance floor. It’s not always to pick someone up. Uuni just likes being in the loud, raucous public. She won’t drink most nights, as she long ago learned she doesn’t need alcohol to act like an idiot.

Not every night is good for clubbing, however. But the days are full of events, and if it’s happening, Uuni will probably be going to it. Afterall, that big group of people finds it interesting, why not go? However, Uuni is a bit cheap, and she usually keeps her explorations to free or inventive ways of sneaking in.

If there’s nothing going on, Uuni will poke her nose around town. She’ll go into random shops, stare at the shelves, and then move onto the next one. Boredom is one of Uuni’s worst nightmares, and harassing the neighborhood is generally a good solution. Eventually, she gives up and does homework.

Virtues:

Heart of Gold – Oh, sure, she’ll tell you she doesn’t care, and Uuni is terribly good at faking a disinterest and a lack of concern for those around her. But the bottom line is, Uuni has a strong moral center that those who know her well have picked out easily. If a friend is feeling down, they might find they suddenly own a copy of that new book they’ve been wanting to buy but haven’t gotten around to. “Gee, when did you get that?” And, if they complain about being hungry, they might find the sandwich Uuni was eating quietly put in their lap. No questions asked. She might point out a friend has a doctor’s appointment tomorrow at random in the day, because they tend to forget about them. And Uuni hates owing debts whether for friend or foe. If someone does her a favor, Uuni keeps a secret tally. Some way or another, Uuni will pay them back, and if they never realize it, she’s doing her job well.

You Can Trust Uuni to be Uuni – While she’s a bitcher, a moaner, and oftentimes abrasive, there’s no secret personality waiting under the surface to leap up and surprise. Whether she’s happy, angry, or scared, Uuni is stable. Although her patterns might be tricky to figure out at first, once someone knows her, they don’t have to worry about sudden change. You can scream at Uuni, take her into dangerous situations, and eat all the food in her fridge, and she’s not liable to break down. And if you need to let a secret off your chest, you can trust Uuni to pretend she didn’t hear and not to repeat it, because that’s what she’s always done.

Flexible – Uuni will try anything once. She’ll usually try them more than once. The group of girls are arguing about where to go? She’ll go wherever. They want her to pick? Sure, they’ll go to a Divebar tonight if everyone buys her a drink. You want to go for a long hike? She’ll let you know she thinks hikes are stupid the whole way, but she’ll probably be the first out of the car. Uuni doesn’t tend to ask questions if plan A turns to plan B. It’s easier to go with the flow, regardless of what her mouth says.

Flaws:

Shut. Up. – Uuni complains about a lot, quite a lot. It is hard to get this one to keep her mouth shut; she always has some (often blunt, or vulgar) comment on something. Uuni doesn’t just whine with her voice, she does so with the expressions on her face and with whatever is in the general vicinity. Nothing she likes in the fridge? Slam the fridgerator door. Friends making out on the couch? Talk about how they’re exchanging drooly, face-sucking noises loudly, until they leave and/or b***h her out. This can make her extraordinarily difficult to get along with, especially if you like a little piece and quiet and a friend who doesn’t wrinkle her face at the dinner you just made and ask you if you’re trying to poison her.

If she likes you, telling her to keep her trap shut sometimes does work. Usually, only until she’s found something new to open her mouth about. But, more often than not, she just keeps on going, more inspired than deterred by the angry words of those around her. Ignoring her is usually the best option. Sooner or later, she’ll get bored and leave.

Run Away – Uuni would like to think she can solve most problems that confront her right away, or that no problems with ever make themselves known. As this is far more often wrong than correct, Uuni has established a safety defense system of avoiding her problems. If you ignore them, they’ll go away, right? While Uuni is busy pretending her problems don’t exist, they’re busy festering. “Uuni, you forgot to feed the fish.” “What fish? I don’t own fish. Must be your fish.” The larger the problem, the more effort Uuni will put out to ignore it. And things have to come crashing down sometime.

When they do, Uuni tries to deal with them in the least obvious possible way. This is usually not the best way, and problems sometimes come back to repeat themselves again. Minor issues, like in the case of the fish, will be simply dealt with when someone else isn’t paying attention. The fish often get fed twice these days. More major issues are dealt with very slowly. She won’t leave letter’s of apology, and very rarely says ‘I’m sorry’, because she has trouble admitting her faults, but she will do small things such as cooking dinner (which she loathes), or mysteriously leaving a ‘present’ in a friend’s backpack. But there is always the exception, that cannot be dealt with in the shadows, and for these, Uuni bucks it up and confronts the issue head on, and then vows to never speak of it again.

Bad Reputation – Do not mistake being both gorgeous and sexually active for being sauve. Uuni is not charming, and she lacks class. She doesn’t seem to mind that it’s your wife that’s trading flirts with her, or perhaps your 17 year old son. Maybe your girlfriend? And she’s not going to turn around and get cuddly or affectionate with any of the above. That lack of moral standing, and the lack of desire for fake affection, has pushed those around her to view her negatively. “That Slut” is hardly a new term to her, and she seems to wear it like armor. But while the bad reputation only seems to encourage Uuni, it leaves others distant and distrusting of her.

Knight Title: Myrkviðr (merk-jo-widuz) Page
Challenge: "Come, visit the woods!"

Weapon

[Current Stage] Stage 1 – A small mouse skull attached by a leather string. A badly scratched rune can just be made out on the skull’s surface. Creepy.

Stage 2 – The skull of a little fox on a leather string. The rune is now nicely cut and easily seen.

Mist/Fog leaks from the eyes of the skull and begins to spread. The longer a battle lasts, the thicker and more widely dispersed the mist gets. Opponents cannot see through the haze, but as long as Myrkviðr wears or has hold of the skull, she can. Formed mist lingers in the region where it was created. It does not follow the user.

Formation of mist can be stopped at any point. The fog then begins to recede. Other magical powers, such as magic winds and blasts, can move and alter the mist, but cannot destroy it.

Mist can be summoned for a maximum of one minute over a circular area with a radius of 15 feet.

Stage 3 – An eagle skull on a silver chain necklace. The rune that decorates the top is well-carved and glows strongly. [Or, optionally, made of metal (artists choice) Example here)

Same as Stage 2, with the addition that contact with the mist now produces hallucinations. All characters (even allies) except Myrkviðr begin to see/feel/hear things that embody their inner conflicts. Those with arachnophobia, for example, may see a trail of spiders crawling down their arm. An individual afraid of failure will encounter illusions such as walls that look easy to climb, but go on apparently forever. The intensity of the fear felt from hallucinations is dependent on rank as follows:

Fourth Stage: Unsettled by hallucinations. Equal to a "spooked" feeling such as entering a haunted house.
Third Stage: Will feel the normal level of fear associated with their internal conflict.
Second Stage: A slight increase in natural emotional turmoil. Believe that some hallucinations are real and react accordingly.
First Stage: Hallucinations are believed to be real and the emotion invoked is far greater than in life (ex. feelings of fear become akin to terror). Little to no focus can be maintained on things aside from the hallucination.

Summons Creature: Níðhöggr - A small-horse sized, nonagressive dragon with large wings--can take one, light passenger in flight (no more than 150 pounds).
Summons Ability: AoE: By beating its wings, it can create a strong gust of wind. Individuals within 10 feet are knocked off their feet. The closer they are to the source, the more injury retained from being rolled. Those at 15 feet may experience sand/debri kicked into their eyes. Wingbeats can be maintained for 15 seconds.

Housing

She's working on it, okay? She's really not. Uuni kind of crashes with whomever she can manage at the time. The amount of stuff she has is very minimal, and she sails her ships as cheaply as she can possibly manage, so to speak. If you don't charge her rent, she won't pay it, and if you try to charge her rent, she'll probably go somewhere that doesn't.

This means: no permanent housing. She'll join your band as a groupie and haul stuff around, chill with whoever she's banging that week, make a 'friend' that is willing to take her in. Uuni has no issue being 'at home' in any of these houses. Thankfully, she likes to leave in a moment's notice, so she'll keep all her things in good order and nicely together. That doesn't mean you won't catch her in your fridge, or inspecting your medicine cabinets.

Occupation

Ah, Herbst paper company. What a hell hole. This is literally a hole-in-the-wall kind of business, used as a storage facility for huge orders and also a general shop for all those incorrect orders, cancelled orders, and miscellaneous paper supplies. The inside is cluttered with every kind of paper you can imagine, lining a few isleways which lead to the front desk.

It's a typical, boring creme colored metal desk. On the other side, Uuni is probably tapping her long red-painted fingers on the desk. She might look up from where she's hard at-work scribbling on rolled-printer paper if you clear your throat, or you're particularly attractive. There's a phone next to her, and an old clunky PC which is always on, humming and only used to pick up orders. Someone's removed the browsers so the internet can't even be accessed, not that Uuni particularly wants to surf the internet.

All her co-workers are male, and they work in the back checking orders, bringing in boxes, and giving her a long eye. Some of them care if she does decent work, most of them don't. She's hired to look pretty, and be a friendly face. After all, customers respond better to women. Usually.

Past Selves - Kierstedt Lineage

Uuni's going to need a lot of help in this life. There's a lot to live up to, after all. Her great great great great. . . ah s**t, that's too many greats. Her a lot of greats and then the word mother, was a skilled knight in charge of the eerie forest that divided worlds from one another.

If we said that becoming a knight was the last thing on Uuni's list, it really was. While she knows about this whole terrorist Senshi group and the savior Negas, the whole thing is the giant mafia war. The last thing she wanted was finding herself in this crazy getup. Hey, man, the fur and leather itch. Who designed this damn outfit anyway? Oh well, it shows off her stomach alright.

Her many greats mother was born on earth like many other knights. And like many other knights, she went through the vigorous training required. While she didn't excel at it at first, she had one hell of a determination. She doesn't hold her many greats granddaughter's distaste for exercise and violence, so she became adept at defensive hand-to-hand combat, navigation, and outdoor survival. Well, Uuni did inherit the navigation skill well enough. She's thinking maybe she can use it to navigate away from this place.

While Uuni's thinking her mindset was probably better made for the disappearing act of Saturn (she's not even fond of green, darn it!), she's a product of a boisterous family turned stale. The quick disarming ability of her mother landed her a spot in the darkest part of Jupiter's great wonders. They needed a knight who was not quite right to fit a place that was not quite right.

The isolated location of the wonder makes the Mirky Wood a place that defies Jupiters rules. As such, the knightly protection is hardly simplified to all Senshi; after all, they can be just as messed up as their Chaos counterparts. Any good knight of the dark wood knows affiliation doesn't make the deed. Do-gooders, pass with ease. Miscreents, rich snots, the greedy, and the egotistical, watch your step. Those tree roots have been known to move.

SOLO - Awekening

Words: 2005

Who the ******** puts a mouse skull on a necklace.

No, really.

Why would you want to do that? That skull has to be fragile already, and now you want to wear it around? You're permanently the Rocky Horror Picture Show, only without the show and emphasis on the horror.

At 7:55, groaning from her spot on a derelict, stained couch, suddenly awash in bright light, it was the first thought in Uuni's head. The back of her eyes pounded, and she was sure something was scratching at them, attempting to push them out of her skull. From the kitchen, she could hear the clatter of a spoon in a dish, and the crunching, grinding teeth from the jaw of a male who had been last night's ******** might have pushed the pillow over her ears, but the idea of the fabric coming anywhere near her mouth made her sick. Rolling over until her feet touched the murky brown carpet, Uuni stumbled upright and snatched her black dress from where she'd laid it on the couch. She took a quick sniff--that was definitely the smell of old a**--decided it was good enough, and pulled it over the top of her head.

It was amazing how fast she could wake up. Headache still raving, but eyes adjusting to the light, she wandered into the kitchen.

"You look like you had a hell of a night." Crunch, crunch, the cereal went. She could practically feel his grin and his eyes on her a**.

"That's a stupid comment," she told him, slamming a cabinet and opening another. "You were there." He knew what kind of a night she'd had, he'd been in it, so to speak. Oh, thank god, there was the aspirin. Tossing her head back, she swallowed it down without even a thought for water. A few seconds later, she was raiding another cabinet, eyeing a cup skeptically, and rinsing it down.

When she turned to him, she had half of the liquid down. "What time is it?"

Crunch. He needs to stop that right now.

"7:58."

"You chew like a pig."

Swallow down the rest of the cup, take your sweet time since it's Sunday--oh, <********>. It was not Sunday.

Uuni was out the kitchen so fast, she missed his shrug and his asshurt comment about her lovely morning mood. It was all well and good, because she would have informed him her mood hadn't changed, he was just too pissed drunk the night before to realize it. Given how her teeth threatened to rattle out her skull when she bent over to snatch up her shoes and the rest of her clothes, she reckoned she must have been much the same.

The apartment stairs were impossible to go down in heels. So, Uuni was breaking between a fast-walk and an unwilling jog in bare feet, not even bothering to pause at the bottom to amend the situation.

It was a Monday. A Monday and she was late to work. Work which paid her way more than she was worth. A job which she'd already reached the 'number of times you can be late before getting fired' quota, and she had about two minutes. That hot mess' only strength was his ability to set a clock ahead and forget about it. Oh, well, he'd had a nice set, too. She'd be feeling pretty good if not, for, you know, a minute and a half until she had no income along with having no permanent residence.

Maybe she could take a back alley. There had to be a shorter way. Clutching tightly to the overly high, lace-up boots that were the best pair of anything she owned, Uuni swung a hard left. And came face to face with a dead end.

It was a brightly lit alleyway, unhindered trash bins lining the back before the wall. Boxes of recycling, stuffed with tons of used cardboard, newspaper, and magazines, stood off to the left corner. And, in the middle of it all, a reeking, steaming garbage bin. Thankfully, it was blessed to have a lid, and thankfully that lid was closed. Uuni could either a) go around the block or b)attempt to move those boxes to the cardboard bin, pray she didn't fall in, and hop over the wall. Neither of those options sounded good. Why didn't this darn alleyway go through?

Uuni could have sworn she knew Destiny City better than this by now. But there was one minute to go, and unless she could find a way to scale an 8 foot wall, and run twice as fast as usual, life was about to suck. It was about to suck really bad.

"And people believe in luck." Luck would have been waking up 15 minutes earlier, eating a quick breakfast, having a quick lay, and still being late for work. At least then, it would have been her fault. She didn't even get to take credit for this ******** up!

It was in that moment, that shining moment of desperate need, that she was allowed exactly what she needed. However, it was the last thing Uuni expected. She blinked, squeezed her eyes shut, rolled them in her head, and opened her eyes again.

"Go away, funny, ugly dead-skull thing. Now is not the time." It didn't move. Had that b*****d slipped something into her drink? All she'd had was water. The aspirin? Ah, hells.

Because it did not move, Uuni began to do so instead. As she shifted to the left, it shifted with her. There was a sway to the right, and it jerked that way, too. Ah, s**t. No matter what course of action she took, it remained, right in front of her face, completely blocking her vision. Uuni couldn't even make it two feet this way. She may as well have been blind!

Feeling frustrated, and wanting to at least be somewhat normal for her late-arrival, Uuni swiped the small chunk of bone out of her vision. To her utter horror--this seemed more like a personal psychological problem now--the bone felt solid. It was solid, and gross and it was in her hand.

And those were not her shoes. What the hell.

Uuni flicked her eyes to her hand: those were her shoes. To the other hand: that was a . . . bone of something. To her feet: not her shoes. Right. Pretend everything is normal. You can just back away slowly.

But even that felt weird. Faster, too fast, faster than she should have been able to back up. Whatever this drug was, it was working fast, and it was really messing with her head. She'd heard about things that increased your mental thought, made you see things, increased your adrenaline. . .

Uuni eyed the wall. She gave it a good hard thought. What was the worst that could happen? She tried a jog. She might as well have been running. So, she tried running. It felt worse than she remembered.

When she reached a few of the piled boxes, she hesitated and slowed just slightly. That was a darn tall wall, and those boxes looked pretty unstable. Still, she tried a quick hop, and not only did her feet touch the box, but she could almost palm the top of that wall.

The boxes were plenty sturdy, so she turned around, headed down the alley, and then readied herself. This was stupid. That, she told herself, was the logical, worthless part of her brain trying to keep her from killing herself. The illogical side of her brain, drugged as it were, happily reminded her that she wouldn't feel any pain even if she messed up. That was the wonderful thing about most narcotics, you were so out of it that you just didn't care. The paranoid stage to this one was probably a knuckle-bleeder. Best to keep in good spirits.

So, Uuni charged that wall, and to her great pleasure, found herself arcing over it with ease. Well, she got her stomach over the top of it, anyway. Uuni didn't ask questions, she just went with it. She was on a mission damnit. Which, at the moment, was realizing that she didn't really do enough jumping to land after clearing a wall.

Uuni sort of slid down the other side, scraping her skin as she went, hitting the concrete and rolling out of it. Those were going to bruise. She coughed, and tilted her head back. The bright, red letters of Herbst glinted back at her with glee. Uuni wasn't sure whether to be upset or overjoyed.

Instead, she rolled over onto her feet and gave that wall a once-over. She'd just cleared that wall. Rather ungracefully, but still. Cool.

"Hah! Suck my c**t, wall." Maybe that hadn't been the best thing to say. With all the weird happening, it just might do it.

Glancing down to where her left hand hurt, she thought for the second time that day, who the ******** puts a skull on a necklace? It had left little indents in her skin and cracked slightly along the edges. Still. . .

"Guess we're sticking together, you and me." It felt really wrong to leave it somewhere, as if someone might see it and discover she was high. How long did it take for the effects of this drug to wear off? Man, sex with this on board would be a ******** the necklace over her head, she took one confident stride forwards, and then saw those shoes all over again. No.

"These have to go."

Uuni supposed she was talking to the bone now around her neck--god, it was hideous--because what else around here was there to talk to? It must have heard her, because there were her bare feet again, and her body no longer itched like it was covered in sheep's wool.

"Huh." A pause, as she thought, considered.

"And what if I want them back?" She really didn't. They didn't come back. Well, that was stupid. It should have been an easy summoning sort of thing. If she was going to hallucinate, she wanted to be able to call those damn shoes back at will!

Oh, there they were.

"Just kidding."

There was a humorous tug at what she was sure was her soul, or maybe her chest, before the leather boots were once again gone. It was like clap on or clap off.

Uuni was about to open her hands up and torment all of Jupiter--

"Kierstedt." Eyes shot up, she glanced to attention. One of her bosses.

"Just finished a smoke." Man, that excuse was perfect every time. "Got my keys," she jingled where they were tied onto the laces of her shoes. Okay, it probably looked a bit weird that she wasn't wearing her shoes.

The man looked her up and down, as if not sure whether to be disgusted, attracted, or treat her like a dumb teenage daughter. "Be here early tomorrow for inventory."

"Can do." No, 'you are late' and no warning tones that said 'we have to let you go'. Dodged that bullet didn't she? Her eyes were probably dilated to hell. Ah well, DC was full of weirder things. They'd all seen oily, writhing animals from nightmares at some point, dilated eyes was practically a necessity. You had to deal with all the crazy somehow.

Bells jingling as she entered the store, Uuni practically skipped back to her desk. Even the computer seemed to hum happily in her direction. Ah, desk. She'd never been so happy to see it.

After about 5 minutes of boring, creme-colored nothing, the cheery pleasantries of having jumped a wall wore off. Work sucked. She should have just gotten fired.

Sighing heavily, the brunette slipped the skull from her neck and plopped it down on a piece of paper. Uuni consoled a pencil, and traced the outline of her latest hallucination. It was going to be a long day.

SOLO - Falling Behind

Words: 603

Flecks of dirty rain streaked across creaking windows. The dry, leafless fingers of a Slippery Elm scraped in desperation against the glass.

Leaning over the edge of a dark grey couch, Uuni grasped at the rounded end of a television remote. A few cookie crumbs fell from between the buttons. The TV flickered on.

~experiencing a Wind Advisory. 20 mile an hour prevailing winds from the northeast with gusts upwards of 40 miles per hour~

Barely a footstep from the kitchen, Uuni squinted at the outdoors. The patter above her head increased and then turned into a roar. No outdoors for her today. No work, Monday, it was a vacation.

~the victims of last night's incident. Aged between~

There was a bag of Tostitos in the drawer and salsa in the fridge. Good enough.

~Two children are in critical condition this morning. One, who suffered minor injuries, is scheduled to be released this afternoon.~

Uuni stopped midway of opening the bag. Her tongue pressed against the back of her teeth, and she shook her head.

~The families have declined interviews, but we were able to speak with officials on the playground incident which lead to the death of one boy, and the injuries of three others.~

The television made a hissing pop as it was abruptly turned off. The remote was tossed onto the couch, and Uuni turned her back to it. For a moment, she seemed to be unable to assess the bag of chips waited for her on the round, kitchen table.

Eventually, she made her way over to it. The plastic parted readily. The salsa cap popped delightfully. Uuni sighed at it.

Then, without so much as taking a bite, she rolled the edges of the chip bag over, clipped it and tossed it back from whence it came. The salsa was recapped, put back in the fridge, and Uuni stalked off to another part of the house.

She needed to do something. She couldn't stay here.

People died in Destiny City all the time.

All the time.

If she got involved, she would have been in the hospital with those children--if she'd gotten lucky.

And when King called on her, what would she do? It was better if she went into hiding, disappeared, left powering up behind? The answer to that was most obviously yes. Whatever it was they thought she could do, she couldn't do it. Best not to give them the excuse.

But, what if she could? Would she?

All of the Pages, the Cats, the Knights, the Senshi, even the strapping member of the Negaverse had informed her of the same answer: You don't have a choice. You have to pick a side.

The whole thing was an utter mess; it had been so easy to avoid as a civilian. You kept your head low, you stayed out of the dangerous areas, and you remained inconspicuous and hopefully unnoticed. You shook a head at the crime rate, claimed the people in it had done something dumb to get caught. You thought it was just a matter of those kids being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was someone else's problem, someone else's job. Where were the police? Why don't they just clean out the factions?

Then, all of a sudden it's just not that simple. It's hard to lie to yourself when the real truth sits in front of you, sinister grin, half-wagging tail.
