Personal Bio: Raised on the streets of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Shanahan is considered to be one of the strangest success stories; possibly due to the fact that when he entered the business, he was nothing more than an oversized jobber. Starting out in Extreme Entertainment Wrestling primarily, he was stuck on the development show for roughly 2 years until they finally let him advance. By then, he was considered a solid mid-carder. Competing worldwide against the likes of Saint Joey, Damita Rifle, and various other mid-carders, The Punk slowly began to establish himself as a threat to the industry.
It was not until Matt began to change his character that he would be noticed by many of the big names in the industry, when he proclaimed himself to be The God of Punks. The gimmick was originated during the end of his '09 year as a throwaway gimmick; it was intended to be challenged and criticized, though it never was. Over the years, many came to accept the man as just that: The God of Punks, a symbol for all the underdogs and outcasts in the world. For many years, the title held true to the name; in short, he essentially proclaimed himself a God without anyone challenging such a bold title.
After various world title reigns and Hall of Fame inductions, Matt has secured his place in the industry as an icon, future legend, and main-eventer. He supports his tag-team and mid-card roots, sometimes competing in such matches to revitalize the divisions, though it is rare to see him out of a large spotlight. Whether it's pride or a world title on the line, Matt's name is one that draws crowds with ease.

RELATIONSHIPS
Rivals: Kodiak Gordert - One of the few men to ever gain permanent hatred from Shanahan, Kodiak proved to be the foil to Matt' in many companies in the formative years of his career. Kodiak and Matt often found themselves at odds in every independent company they stumbled into, sometimes even fighting in the much larger companies as well.
Rhamm - Unlike Kodiak, Shanahan's rivalry with Rhamm came about out of respect. Rhamm was becoming known as a mid-card workhorse in a handful of companies, and Matt was determined to prove himself against the much more skilled adversary.
Mike Landry - While the two men may share some level of respect nowadays, it was an entirely different story many, many years ago. The hatred between the two was one that followed through many companies, but mainly showcased in WWF:G as part of Matt's domination of WWF:G's Wrestlemania. Many would cite the rivalry with Mike Landry as the true starting block of Shanahan's soaring popularity in the following years.
The Damones - The Damone Brothers proved to be some of Matt's greatest adversaries in his battle to main event status, with Brandon and Jarel being his key opposers. Jarel especially served as one of Matt's primary gatekeepers into the scene, The Dragon never being only to take the advancement of arrogant new blood lightly.
Freakshow - Once thought to be Matt Shanahan's greatest nemesis throughout the Gaian history books, Freakshow proved to be one of the greatest obstacles in Matt's crash course to stardom. The two waged war for many years, in many companies, often time to the detriment of all around them. From backstage brawls to blood-drenched matches, the two seemed destined to screw each other over and take each other to the mental and physical limit anywhere they could. Long ago, Freakshow would have easily been labeled Matt's arch-nemesis; however, that title has since passed to another.
Major Devastation - A real case of "No, That Belt Belongs To Me", Major Devastation and Matt Shanahan's rivalries tended to be situated around who could win a strap in any given company. WWE:E and EWA were the common battlegrounds between them, both men at odds more often than not over a world class title belt.
Kelly King 2.0 and his entire goddamn family (Kayla, Serenno, Carmyne King) - If wrestling was a soap opera (and it is), Shanahan and the King family truly ran the show. At one time, both were considered to be the best of friends, King serving as one of the few to keep Shanahan in-check after the death of Saint Joey. Whether they were traveling together or eating together within the King household, the two would form a bond that would eventually make Shanahan feel like he was part of the family. It all came crashing down though, when Matt's ego was finally broken and with it, something deep inside snapped as well. The two would become bitter enemies for what seemed to be the rest of Shanahan's career, the bad blood itself being cited as the starting point of "The Storm," the dramatic turning point of Shanahan's career into its final stage. Many still wonder to this day if the duo have mended the fence, but neither man shows any public signs of such.
Friends: Christina Parks - Not much is known about the backstage relationship between Shanahan and former strong-woman Christina Parks, all that's certain is that the two had some sort of bond together. As for if such a bond was ever strengthened into something more or if they simply became good friends, none really know to this day.
Alexander Dramien - A former tag partner to Shanahan, Alexander proved to be the opposite of Shanahan in every way. Their differing offense proved to be a key reason why the pair became multiple tag champions, each working off each other with extreme success.
Saint Joey - Not much is known overall about Matt's personal life, but his friendship with Saint Joey is one of those few factors. For the final years of Joey's life, Matt made every effort to be around his best friend in every company they ventured to. Whether they were teaming together to challenge the authority of a company as The Angered Alliance or facing each other in mutual respect, the pair were a constant sight in each other's company no matter the location. The Death of Saint Joey rocked the whole industry, but most believe it to have hit Shanahan harder than anyone. Some would cite the moment as the gradual building of "The Storm."
Nuke Fusion - A fellow member of the "Godhood" in Gaian history books and fellow founding member of "The Outcasts," Nuke Fusion helped elevate Shanahan to a higher level of notoriety in their efforts to dominate WWF:G many years ago, with the help of Christina Parks as well.
DJ - The former owner of ICW, Matt's immediate friendship with DJ would prove to be the key reason why Shanahan stayed in the indie company and did his best to help build it to a credible federation.
Marxx - While never really sharing the screen with each other, Marxx and Shanahan were mainly friends in the terms of their shared business goals. Both men sought to challenge the norms of the larger names in the industry; and while Shanahan failed every venture he sought to build a company on his own, the success of Marxx's business mindset and Shanahan's eagerness to make something new would see the pair come together and form the industry's final great indie company: Bad Blood Wrestling. While often overlooked as a founding block of the company, nothing about BBW would have succeeded without Marxx's steering in the formative days of the company.
Justin McCormick - An old friend within the ICW scene.
Azza - An old friend in his formative years in the indie companies.
Phoenixfire - A close, personal friend of Shanahan, Phoenixfire served as one of the few on-screen love interests Matt had in his career. While the romance never blossomed, their friendship surely did. The pair have rarely ever been at odds, and have often supported each other whenever needed.
Chrono Clepsydra - The relationship between Chrono and Matt has always been a complicated one, but the pair have seemed to finally bury the hatchet between them. Often standing against each other on-and-off-screen, the pair spent many years in opposition; as of now, though, they seem to be on friendly terms, thus ensuring all the "Godhood" of Gaia no longer rage against each other.
Mindy - Starting off as an occasional interviewer in EWA, Matt would soon hire Mindy as his personal assistant for his career as a whole. From helping him manage BBW to being the main barrier to contacting Shanahan in the modern day, Mindy stands to be the sole person left in constant communication with the fabled Storm.

I made this section because it seems in every match I have, a new theme comes to my mind. So I'm making this section for themes Matt does use and could use in the future for matches and promos. This is not me claiming every song on this list, this is merely a database of songs I have used, or have thought about using. With that said, not every song on here -will- be used by me. If there is a song that you would like to use for some reason, please contact Punkology before using one of these themes. Hopefully, this will prevent us from having the same theme. They are now sorted by gimmick, and the alignment they'll typically be associated with.
The primary themes in use are (this list is subject to change constantly) : "Short Change Hero" by The Heavy - EWA, WWF:G, WWE:E "Crash and Burn" by Hell or Highwater - BBW
Other Songs [This section is for songs that I've wanted to use and have had ideas for, but no proper place to execute them. Primarily, they are one-off entrances with few exceptions.]
STORYLINES Note: The storyline section has been maintained since the beginning of 2013. While I will attempt to pull together pieces of past storylines, this post will focus on the ones from 2013 and onward.
WWF:G: The Storm Leaves [5-31-16] Promo 1: The Storm...
WWE:E: The Clash of The Gods [11-14-12 to 4-15-13] Match 1 : Matt Shanahan vs Chrono Clepsydra Promo 1: Chrono's "There Can Be Only One..." Promo 2: Matt's "I Pray For You" Match 2: Nuke vs Chrono vs Shanahan Promo 2: "The Pits of Hell" Match 3: Matt Shanahan vs Chrono: Falco's Nest - The Legendary match that was anticipated for months finally came to fruition at WWE:E's Showdown. The two men met in the match that defined Shanahan's ICW career, Falco's Nest. The Gods battled it out and made G-Fedding history in possibly one of the longest bouts to ever be recorded. With the help of Saint Joey's memory and the assumed girlfriend, Christina Parks, to aid Matt, he did what few ever could. He challenged Chrono Clepsydra.
I've noticed that I diverge and develop Shanahan, his gimmicks can be a little... jumbled, to those that don't understand them. So here, I'll be explaining the premise behind each one and how it links to the other.
The God of Punks
Arrogance and fame led Matt to proclaiming himself as "The God of Punks" early on in his career, an evolution of "The Punk." During the beginning of it, he had a close friend parade as his Reverend and read from the book of "Punkology." Despite the negative criticism the act received, it stuck and became much more than a claim to arrogance.
Leading The Outcasts with his friend Nuke Fusion (a man who also went on to claim himself a God), Matt came to realize that his arrogant title had a deeper meaning to it. Since then, he's seen himself as a beacon of light for every underdog, outcast, or reject through-out the world. It was fitting, as he himself was the definition of coming from nothing at all, and managing to overcome every odd. What originally started as a claim to fame made Shanahan into one of the biggest names in the Gaian Industry, with him typically being known as one of the most well-received faces on the roster, thanks to his standpoint on rookies and "outcasts."
Matt relies on heavy theatrics to make his gimmick as strong as possible. One example is his use of his trademark "Punk-ville Slugger" baseball bat; he has been seen using it to call down falling stars in video promos, while in the ring, it's used to hit home runs with his opponent's skull.
Shanahan is considered part of the trinity of "gods" in the industry, sharing the rank with Nuke Fusion and Chrono Clepsydra.
The Black Star
When a God falls from the graces of his mountain, they typically fall to the Earth and fight for eternity to reclaim their throne. When it came to Shanahan's proverbial "fall from grace", he fell back into the industry as a star. On impact, he revealed to the world a side of Matt that had never been seen: The Black Star, a man seeking to reclaim his throne by "eliminating every bright light." In other words, taking out everyone that stood in his way.
While The God of Punks became known for having powerful entrances, promos, and a general good-guy (when not pissed off), The Black Star is the complete opposite. Little to no actual wrestling would take place in his matches, as he devolved to using heelish tactics and using his baseball bat with nearly every encounter. Victories are a rarity with The Black Star, but he's always the last man standing.
One of the more notable differences with this gimmick is the entrance theme usage. Every song is typically electronic based, even sometimes diverging into "Metalcore." Many fans have noticed a heavy amount of Celldweller songs in his arsenal for this gimmick.
The only change in appearance for this gimmick is the dyed red bangs Matt grows out beforehand, and the hooded cape he tends to wear in his entrances.
The Storm
The most recent edition to Matt's gimmick resume is The Storm. This gimmick originated when Shanahan's rage sent him into a maddening hunt to face Kelly King at WWFG's Wrestlemania in 2013. For the first time in a very long time, The God of Punks became a full out heel by invading his best friend's home, throwing him through the titantron, and nearly breaking the man in every encounter. At the final showdown, Matt made his entrance by use of booming thunder, crashes of lightning, and rain being poured onto the entire arena. There was an inside joke between a few unnamed individuals that Shanahan was "bringing the storm." Since hearing that, Matt used it to his advantage.
The Storm uses thunderous entrances with gusts of wind and rain pouring into the arena; this is done by extremely powerful air-conditioning and modified sprinkler systems. Matt protects himself from the elements via black, leather trench coat with a hood to help hide his face. The gimmick also utilizes sayings, such as "The Storm is brewing" and "Can you survive the Aftermath?"
To the core, The Storm is a combination of both of Shanahan's previous gimmicks. It keeps The God of Punks portion alive, while bringing out the heel-ish side of The Black Star.

WWF:G Wrestlemania Streak Timeline
1-0: Mike Landry vs Phoenixfire/Matt Shanahan
In the year of 2010, Shanahan made his return to the WWFG. His faction, The Outcasts, had fallen apart, and his Punkism Championship was no more, but he was as confident as ever. His care-free return didn't last long though, as his old enemy Mike Landry decided to be a 'mentor' to his old friend, Phoenixfire. The God of Punks saw this as complete crap, and attempted to warn Phoenix of such. After she decided against Shanahan's best judgement, they faced off in a match. Near the end of the match, Landry tried to show his affection for Phoenixfire... Only to be rejected. The enraged Landry took his anger out on Phoenix with a Heartbreaker. Shanahan was too late to stop the move, but he wasn't too late to chase off Landry with a baseball bat. The feud escalated to Wrestlemania, where Matt and Phoenix faced off against an insane Mike Landry.
2-0: Brandon Damone vs Matt Shanahan
Over a year after beating Mike Landry, Matt Shanahan returned to accept Brandon Damone's challenge for the next Wrestlemania. With little time to build hype, the God of Punks was quick to set the stipulation for the match; his own hellish creation, the Pit of Hell. Damone accepted, and a face-off commenced right then and there between the two men. They went to Wrestlemania, where The God of Punks triumphed over the smallest Damone family member.
3-0: Kelly King vs Matt Shanahan
After the massive exodus from WWF:G, Matt Shanahan was one of the many faces to leave the company. However, he'd make himself known soon enough in the company once again at 2013's Royal Rumble. Almost immediately after entering the ring, King Nothing hit the PA system. The 2-0 streak encountered 2.0 himself, resulting in his elimination almost as soon as he entered the match; Shanahan was quick to get his revenge, Tossing The King out of the ring immediately afterwards. Little did either men know that lone moment would spark a feud that would shake all of the company. Nor did they know that they would leave an entire Table family fatherless after taking out the Spanish Announcement table.
The following show after the Rumble, Matt spoke out about the events of the Rumble, stating that his elimination was caused by his own rage and demanded that he receive another chance to show that he was better than Kelly King. As a result, his best friend destroyed his beloved FFA US Championship from his hospital bed. Matt went to management immediately after in a fit of anger, demanding a contract get drawn up for a match with the One True King at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Kelly King made his live return at the next show, with full intentions to show all of his love for his former best friend. By pissing on the contract, in front of a live audience. Matt went berserk and chased him all through-out the arena, until The Best of The Best leaped from the roof of the arena into an awaiting helicopter, leaving The God of Punks speechless on the rooftop.
Determined to get the contract signed, Matt took a roadtrip to Washington himself to deliver it to Kelly King. This delivery involved smashing his truck into the wall of King's living room, invading the man's home, physically beating the patriarch King down, Tossing him across his own kitchen, physically harming his two sons, and mentally scarring his daughter until finally being kicked off the balcony of the home. Matt failed in getting the contract signed, but succeeded in showing the King family that he knew no boundaries in this bitter feud.
Two weeks after the contract pissing, King appeared on Reboot #12 to deal with the issue that had been dropped on him. With his children in tow, Kelly King went to the ring and called out Matt Shanahan, demanding to finalize the contract in an attempt to end the brutality that threatened his family, hoping to take the high road. A beatdown commenced immediately after the signing, resulting in both men getting damaged fairly well. Shanahan once again got the upperhand by living another Toss to King, this time through the titantron's screen and back into the main arena floor. What the world discovered in that moment was that Shanahan wasn't only going the extra mile for this match, he was willing to cause permanent damage to his friend for the sake of it.
Finally, the moment came. Wrestlemania. The Grandest Stage of Them All, showcasing the grandest feud in recent history. Matt Shanahan and Kelly King. God vs King. 2-0 vs 0-2. No Holds Barred. The match itself would go down as one of the greatest in the history of G-feds. Each man brought their all, delivered their all, and left nothing to the imagination. From King landing a Shoal off a 30-foot high balcony to Shanahan executing his fabled Last Corner, the match was by-far the best at 2013's Wrestlemania. The audience saw The God of Punks become The Storm that evening, and they also saw him defeat his best friend. It was one of the biggest upsets in Matt's and King's careers. After it was all said and done, the villain won. Matt walked out on his two feet, and Kelly was carried by his family. Shanahan went 3-0, King went 0-3.
People talked about the match for weeks to come; they knew it wasn't over, it couldn't be. Not with Shanahan winning, the villain wasn't supposed to win something like that. Two weeks after match, Matt came out to demand some form of closure from his once best friend. King answered his request with the FFA US Championship, noting that the one he destroyed was a fake, not the real prized title Shanahan clung to. Not before destroying Matt mentally, of course. Matt won the biggest battle of them all... but Kelly would win the war, in the end.
4-0: Cartwright vs Matt Shanahan
At the beginning of 2014, Matt Shanahan returned to the squared circle once again to participate in the 2014 Royal Rumble. The difference between his previous return in 2013 was that he actually won. After entering near the last leg of the match, The Storm managed to overpower The Gallant and throw him over the top rope, securing his spot at the main event of Wrestlemania.
Matt would go on to face the first ever Legacy Champion, Cartwright, at Wrestlemania. Much like his previous bouts, it would not be a standard rules match-up. Instead, the men were locked into an Elimination Chamber style enclosure, with a single goal: get the title off of the roof. After a long battle with many chair shots to Shanahan in particular, the match came to a climax when The Storm delivered The Last Corner to Cartwright from the top of a ladder. The impact was strong enough to threaten the foundations of the Chamber and subsequently caused the WWF:G Legacy Championship to unhinge and fall to the mat. Rather than having to climb the ladder to retrieve, all Matt had to do was crawl across the ring and grab it.
The Storm left Wrestlemania with the WWF:G Legacy Champion in one hand, and four fingers extended to proclaim is fourth win at the Biggest Stage of Them All. The fans weren't happy with the result of their main event, but one thing was certain: The Storm's Legacy had just begun.

Note of worth:
On 1/7/14, Matt began the sensation of #WHALESINWALES. This was done by mocking a certain Brit for living in Wales, then connecting that Wales and Whales sound exactly the same.
The following conversation started it all: [9:13:31 PM] The (un)Lucky One: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALES. [9:13:36 PM] The (un)Lucky One: SOUNDS LIKE WHALES. [9:13:43 PM] The Brit: THERE ARE NO WHALES IN WALES
The sensation swept over the known Skype channel, with everyone exclaiming #WHALESINWALES.
There are now talks of a Whales In Wales promotion occurring in Bad Blood Wrestling.
Sightings of the #WHALESINWALES will be recorded here.
Various sightings of worth:
[11:06:53 PM] Mystique: #WeWhaleRockYou [11:06:40 PM] Marxx.: #OneWhaleToRuleThemAll [9:18:00 PM] Miro: #WHALES is now a thing on twitter. [9:18:05 PM] Miro: Everybody. Tweet it. [9:18:06 PM] Miro: Nao. (The day the Whales hit Twitter)
Note: The first sighting of the Whales was deleted.
I've noticed that I've had some changes in attire throughout the years, and it's shown a nice evolution in the character, in my opinion. Let's go ahead and keep track of those.

Various updates over time. Added a tentative new name for The Toss. Been updating the Win-Loss record (14-0 so far), and been archiving what I can.
