Character Name: S’ren (Sethren)

History: In a small way, Sethren was almost part Weyrbrat. He was born and raised in Trine Weyr, but he belonged to a family of beastcrafters. As such he lived sort of a double life growing up, spending half of his time playing with friends in the Weyr and the other half of his time learning the family trade. Truthfully, he rather liked caring for the herd animals, although there was always a draw to the life of a dragonrider as well.

It was this draw that eventually led him to join Candidacy when he reached fourteen turns of age. Much to his disappointment however, his first Hatching left him dragonless. And his second. And his third. It wasn’t until Sethren was seventeen turns of age that Tereth was born. Once their eyes met for that first time, S’ren’s life has never been the same.

Description: Standing at 5’11”, S’ren is a decent size. His build is mostly average, but it is a bit on the lean side. His hair is black and somewhat layered with the longest bits reaching just past the bottom of his chin. His eyes are a rich amber color, and his skin complexion is pale with just a slight yellowish tint to it. The shape of his face can be described as rather ovalish, although with his particular hair cut it doesn’t really stand out much.

Personality: First and foremost, S’ren has always been very polite. Ever since he was a child the importance of manners and treating others with respect has been drilled into him deeply, and because of this he often has trouble simply relaxing and being himself. Only when spending time with close friends does he drop some of the ‘formal’ tone, but even then it is often present.

Aside from being polite, there is a part deep inside of him that secretly prides himself on his outward image. He’s often seen as ‘the nice guy’, and he rather likes that. Thus he takes great measure to avoid doing or saying anything that might tarnish that reputation.

As mostly linked to this fact, S’ren is a very private individual. Very private. Oh, certainly, he does fine in company and can make decent conversation, but more often than not others won’t know what it is that he really thinks and feels. He thinks kindly of most, but for fear of possibly hurting someone’s feelings or causing them to think badly of him he won’t outright say if he thinks something they say or do is ridiculous.

He also often doesn’t show what he feels for fear of being vulnerable. If he’s sad or hurt by something, you might not even be able to tell beyond a small frown. Usually he’ll smile and act like he’s fine and wait until he is alone to sort out his feelings.

One minutely annoying habit of his is his tendency to avoid answering questions. If conversation becomes uncomfortable he will almost always give a vague non-answer to whatever was asked before ‘smoothly’ (sometimes not so smoothly) changing the topic of conversation. Most of the time it’s nothing too important, but it can still be a source of irritation to some.

On a more positive note, S’ren is immensely loyal. He holds true to his friends and peers, and can become very defensive/protective of others. In fact, about the only time he ever is willing to fight is if something or someone he considers important to him is targeted. Abuse directed toward him however doesn’t matter as much. He is a pacifist and it takes much prodding and abuse to get him to defend himself.



Other: For whatever reason he seems to be quite good with children.
