.:Outrage:. Tereth was furious. No, furious didn’t even begin to describe what the Brown was feeling. His eyes whirled quickly in a tumultuous mix of orange and red and grey as his fury warred with his grief. He and His had arrived on the scene as quickly as was possible, but there was nothing to be done. Nothing would bring back the first time mother; nothing could console the hysterical rider. Dragon’s blood covered the scene and left a terrible stench in his nostrils. He had mourned, naturally, along with the rest of his kin there, but now that he and His were back at their weyr other emotions had had time to settle in. Including extreme anger toward the Bronze and his rider who had brought this about. I want them gone! he exclaimed with a furious bellow, pacing about just outside of their weyr in his venting. All of them! They have no place here any longer!S’ren had never before seen his dragon so outraged. Flying above the large Brown was Ruby, chattering incessantly as her own eyes whirled with agitation. The Weyr as a whole was in quite a state of turmoil right now. The brownrider was feeling quite the mix of emotions himself, but for now he had to try to stay calm for Tereth’s sake. The last thing he needed was for the Brown to snap and do something stupid. I agree, and I am sure that will be taken care of. Brakiath already ordered off the Bronze, and I sure his rider will be in fast pursuit. You need to calm down though; nothing will be accomplished by working yourself into a frenzy.I will not do anything foolish, the Brown snapped back, letting out a low rumble and flicking his wings in agitation. But they need to get out. Now. They have intruded on our good graces for quite long enough and have exceeded their boundaries. Alumanth would still be alive were it not for their presence. Tereth closed his eyes momentarily, and when he opened them their color was mostly grey once more. The ebony-haired rider took this opportunity to move back closer to his partner now that the pacing had slowed. “I understand,” he said gently, pulling the other’s head down into a comforting embrace. “This is a hard time for all of us.” With Tereth having stopped pacing now, Ruby fluttered back down onto the rider’s shoulder, offering her feelings of support to both of them with a small croon. As grief settled back in as the predominate emotion, Tereth let out another mourning keen.

.:Failed Flight 2:. "NO!" S'ren and his stand-in both were caught off guard by the furious shout that the rider let loose. He had been thrown roughly back into his body after the flight, and it took him a brief second to remember where he was and whom exactly he was with. "Sorry. Tereth lost," he explained with a sheepish smile. "That's alright," Sandra replied with a small smile of her own. She was a fairly attractive young woman actually. Long, wavy, dirty blonde hair, green eyes, fair skin... S'ren had been fortunate in finding her. "That was... quite interesting to watch. Does this mean that you no longer need my help?" In a normal flight, the Brownrider would have still very much needed her help after the fact, but unfortunately it seemed that such relief was not to be had. Before he could say a word there was a distinct 'whooshing' sound right outside the weyr followed by a familiar dragonic roar. Even without seeing him, S'ren could easily feel the tidal wave of negative emotions coming from his partner right now, and the message was clear enough: they needed to get away for a bit. "I do need your help, but right now my dragon needs me more. I am sorry for taking your morning away from you for nothing," he said apologetically as he quickly threw on his riding gear. The blond shook her head. "No no, it is fine. I am honored to have been asked such a thing by a Brownrider," she said with a genuine smile. "I would be happy to help you in the future still if you need it." S'ren was relieved that the woman was so understanding. "Thanks. I'll look for you in the future then," he said as he grabbed the remainder of his riding gear and rushed out of the weyr. "Good day to you, Sandra." Once outside, he strode straight over to Tereth and began attaching the riding saddle. The brown impatiently positioned himself to make the task go as quick as possible, his multifacted eyes refusing to settle on any one color. The moment his saddle was secure and his rider was seated, the Brown shot back off into the air. Where? The beach. It should be most secluded there. There was no hesitation as the Brown carried them both Between. ~*~*~*~*~ The two appeared above the familiar sandy beach, and Tereth let loose another dragonic roar of pain and fury. Again!!! he exclaimed, angling down for a landing. Again Pierth slithers in like a tunnel snake and steals the Green! His landing was none too gentle, despite the sandy ground, and S'ren easily felt the jarring impact. The Brown didn't stay still for long however, and immediately moved into his pacing, His remaining on his back for the ride. Not just any Green though. Eltimioth! My beautiful Eltimioth... Other males flew Eltimioth all that time, and that was perfectly fine with him. He wasn't in those Flights. But this flight... this flight had been different. For once he had been allowed to give chase to her, and he had blown his opportunity. Horribly. I could have caught her in the beginning, he lamented, pacing slowing just a touch. I was so very close. It wouldn't have been hard to do. But that wouldn't have been right. She needed to have time for herself, to show off her agility and skill. And so I let her slip by. Too long though. The tunnel snake reached her instead. The worst part was Pierth didn't even look to have really been trying. He had no care for the Green herself. He was simply in it for a chance at a Flight. It was all too wrong. S'ren remained silent while his dragon spoke and paced, letting him vent out his frustrations. He knew full well what had happened, for he had been there too. Had witnessed the whole thing first-hand. And had had a full viewing of his dragon's thoughts and emotions on the matter. He gave the dragon's neck an affection pat as the Brown seemed to be settling down a bit. "Well then, next time you're just going to have to try a bit harder and not let any of the others so close." Tereth stopped his pacing and turned his head to look at his rider with a hopeful expression. Next time? You mean I am allowed to try again?S'ren stiffened slightly as he realized what he just said. Shards, he really had just given him permission to try again, hadn't he. But all things considered... how could he not? The situation with E'lai was still too awkward to think about (they'd have to try to use stand-ins again), but given with how utterly crushed his dragon felt it would just be too cruel not to allow it. This was far more than just a normal fling for him, for no other Flight loss had ever dejected the Brown to this extent. "I suppose that's what it means, yes." Tereth's mood increased dramatically at the news, and the rider couldn't help a faint smile. "You two will have to warn us beforehand though so we can make the proper arrangements. Don't you lose next time either." I will fly my best, he replied. He still wouldn't be so cruel as to catch Elti in the very beginning of the Flight, but he'd be sticking much closer to her next time for sure. In the meantime, he should probably train.

.:Meetings by the Lake:. S'ren: *oiling Tereth out by the lakeside* Lena: *on her way out of the water, wringing her hair out as she steps onto the lake-beach* 'Lo, brownrider~ *friendly wave to both rider and dragon* S'ren: *turns to look at the address. Friendly smile* Hello there. Had a nice swim? Tereth: *nods in greeting to the other, eyes whirling green in contentment*Lena: Well, the sun keeps it nice and toasty out here and the water is cool so...yes, I'd call it a good swim. I'm not particularly picky about my bodies of water though. *smiles* How goes the care and upkeeping of your fine brown's hide? S'ren: It goes well. ^^ He's rather enjoying himself at the moment. Tereth: *rumbles agreement*S'ren: You're a candidate this Turn, yes? I imagine you're excited about the clutch out on the sands. Lena: This Turn and others past, yes~ There's always plenty to be excited about with a clutch on the sands *especially the after-parties* And it's a large offering of potentials the Weyr's mustered for the dragon's choice. The results should be most interesting~ S'ren: *smiles and nods in understanding* Well, I certainly wish you the best of luck. Hatchings are always an exciting time. Lena: Thank you...it's S'ren, I think? :3 But dragon or no dragon, the weyr's my home and I don't intend to let "failure" on the sands drive me off~ S'ren: Yes, S'ren. And you're...Lena? And certainly, no need to be driven off from one's home. ^^ Tereth: *mostly just watching*Lena: *grins* You got it~ *shrugs* The way some candidates go on in the barracks, you really start to wonder... Even the weyrborn who should know better make it sound like the height of tragedies to be lefting standing at the end. I, myself, would rather go enjoy the parties than mope, but you know what they say, can't have a wing full of greens, it takes all kinds, so on and so forth~ S'ren: *rather impressed with her good attitude* That is a very nice way to look at things. =) It's good to see someone so optimistic. Lena: *chuckles* That's the nice way to phrase it. I think my foster mother would use "vibrant but flighty." Honestly, I don't really know that I'm the type any dragon's looking for, but I'd rather let them decide that than risk some poor hatchling left without choice. I'm not very good at responsibility but every weyrborn knows /that/ duty at least. And if I age out, well...I did what I could, so that's that, isn't it? S'ren: Hey, every dragon is different. I wouldn't be surprised for one to be your perfect match. =) I was quite fortunate with Tereth here. Tereth: *noses affectionately*Lena: *grins* Then I think I'd worry about the lack of reliability on my dragon's part too XD; You and yours make a lovely pair though <3 S'ren: Heh, why thank you. And I'm sure you and your partner wouldn't be any more trouble than any of the other dragonrider pairs. XD Lena: Well, granted, there are some pretty troublesome pairs out there... XD Ah, and here I am, keeping you from your task. Shall I lend a hand while we talk? S'ren: Tereth certainly wouldn't mind. Feel free. ^^ Tereth: *moves aside a wing to give the other more room*Lena: Some do mind, but I'm glad to hear Tereth's a more easygoing kind of fellow~ *she reaches for a brush and starts oiling, rather used to the rhythym of the task. She does have the general care of dragons down at least...* So, you've been a rider for some Turns, right? How do you fancy the rumors of Thread-ever-closer? *curious* S'ren: *grimaces slightly* ...While it'll be nice on some level to do more than drills, I don't wish Thread back on this land. *encountered it a few times during the jumps to the past. Fortunately he and Tereth both managed to stay safe.* Tereth: [No matter what comes, we will do our duty to Pern.]S'ren: [No questions there.] *pats the dragon fondly* Lena: Still, it's why the weyrs are here...I think it's certainly to our advantage that the crisis with Mystweed also offered us a glimpse of the foe we'll be fighting soon ^^; All we can do now is wait and train, I s'pose. S'ren: *nods* Basically. *continues oiling* Tereth: *to Lena* [A little higher, please? I have an itch near there.]Lena: *surprised, but pleased the brown spoke to her* Certainly~ *moves higher as directed, scrubbing quite vigorously* [Let me know if I've gotten it, then?] *she's not really sure if he can hear her back like that, but it won't be a tragedy if he can't* Tereth: [Right there is good. Thank you.] *rumbles happily*S'ren: *smiles faintly* He's talking to you? *figures it was her since he hadn't heard anything* Lena: *smiles and nods happily to S'ren* Mm~ My assistance was required with a vexing itch Happy to lend a hand, Tereth~ *musing* You two even /sound/ alike. XD S'ren: *chuckles* I've heard that's a fairly common thing with dragons and riders. Only ever heard directly from other dragons a few times before. Lena: *to S'ren* Even to you, eh~? *pats Tereth fondly* Then I am honored you chose to speak with me, Tereth~ ^__^ Do let me know if there are any other itches best reached by someone rather shorter in stature than your beloved rider I am at your service~ Tereth: *amused* [I will keep that in mind.]Lena: *grins, and speaks aloud as if 'confidentially' to Tereth though of course she means to be overheard* Of course, I can be of service to S'ren too, though I doubt it's itches he'll be wanting me to scratch~ XD *totally teasing* S'ren: *quirks a brow at this, but keeps oiling* Tereth: *starting to like this girl* [I'll keep that in mind for the next flight.]Lena: *grins back at S'ren* Ooh, please do, Tereth ['Sides, it's a green with a male rider you fancy, isn't it? I think I can certainly be of use there~] *pauses thoughtfully* Well, unless I Impress. *alas, definite disadvantages to the plan...* S'ren: [What are you two plotting?] Tereth: [We are merely discussing Flights. She's offering to be a stand-in for E'lai.] S'ren: [That...would actually be very helpful.] Lena: *watches the rider as she assumes they're speaking together; S'ren's got that distant look. And human body language is a little easier to read than contentedly swirling dragon eyes...* So~? *he doesn't seem put off by the offer, if Tereth's relayed it* S'ren: *blinks as he comes back to reality* Hm? Ah, yes, your assistance during such times would be much appreciated, thank you. *E'lai would be happy too* Lena: *amused at the way he chose to word it* I'll try not to Impress then *well, or the green could be due for a Flight sooner than the Hatching, which would work out just fine so far as Lena was concerned for the moment~* S'ren: *shakes head* Never 'try' not to Impress. Things aren't quite that dire. *there were many lovely women around the weyr he could ask in an emergency* Lena: It was a joke, S'ren Worry not, several weeks' time will find me out on the Sands just as I've been every Turn~ S'ren: ^_^ *lightly slaps his brown's side* Alright, I think that covers everything. Feel any missed spots, Tereth? Tereth: *to both* [Nope, all feels well to me.] *stands up slowly and stretches*S'ren: Glad to hear. *to Lena* Thank you again for your help. Lena: Anytime~ And I mean that! Candidatemaster can't get on my case if I'm helping a rider, now can he? *grins* S'ren: *faint smile* Oi, no using the riders as an excuse to get out of Candidate duty. It only works so many times. Lena: *laughs* Oh, like you've any idea~ I bet you never once shirked candidate duties, did you? I am calling your bluff~ S'ren: Hey, you can't claim to know anything about me. We've barely spoken. XD *she was right still, but that was beside the point* Lena: *points to Tereth* You ride a brown dragon. I know they're not all alike, but, seriously, it's kind of an /indicator/ of your personality... *giggles* Tereth: *blue whirls of eyes* [Mine is very responsible.]S'ren: *rolls his eyes at her point* Only to a small degree... *kinda* Lena: *smug as she pats Tereth* I'm sure he is~ He even looks the type *to S'ren* Oh, stop denying it. It's hardly a bad thing to be~ Someday I'm sure you'll be a terribly dependable wingsecond *if he wasn't one already; she didn't know* S'ren: I never claimed that was a bad thing. I'm just saying you can't always judge a rider by his color. Lena: *agreeably* Not always, but in this case, /yes/~ XD S'ren: XD Alright, alright, away with you then before your Candidate-master comes searching. Lena: *wide-eyed* Why then, I wonder what you'd tell him~ *grins* It was nice to make your acquaintance properly, S'ren, Tereth~ *speaks 'confidentially' again to the brown dragon* Don't let him forget me, Tereth~ *to S'ren* And if nothing else, you'll be watching as I Stand? Tereth: [I don't think a dragon is the best to ask in terms of memory.] *nothing against her, but fact was fact*S'ren: But of course. Wouldn't miss it. =) Lena: *playfully* [Do the best you can, and I will be sure to aid you in the task ] *nods to S'ren* I look forward to seeing you in the stands, then~
