Somehow E'lai had almost managed to forget in the hustle and bustle that accompanied the Hatching, and then there was the funeral and the relief of the Benden riders finally being gone (and no longer the threat of Eltimioth provoking one of them in "good fun") that Eltimioth was due to rise--well, that it would be soon anyway. He'd attributed the green's moodiness to the surprising stubbornness of his newly Impressed gold firelizard, who did not seem to appreciate being bossed about even if it was by a dragon who could easily stomp her flat. At least he'd had the presence of mind to acquire a stand-in nonethless--he was taking no chances, not when he knew Tereth would give chase.
Still, there was no mistaking it now, her eyes whirling purple and her hide gone glowing. "Go!" That was all the command she needed, and Eltimioth descended on the feeding grounds in a fury. She blooded her kill and then was off, a whirl of brilliant green in the sky as she cried a challenge. Eltimioth was rising--let all who believed themselves worthy come forward and just try to catch her!

Green Eltimioth is an average green, so she will be rolling 3 dice ( d20 )
Brown Tereth will roll 3 dice ( d20 )
Brown Pierth will roll 3 dice ( d20 )

The posting order will be Eltimioth, than whichever dragon enters the RP first. After that will be the second dragon, the third dragon, and then Eltimioth once more.
You must match all the numbers rolled by Eltimioth ( 11, 18, 19 ) to successfully catch her. The option for an after-Flight RP is allowed and encouraged, but not required.

*Earlier in the day*
It’s finally here.
S’ren looked up from what he was reading and over in the direction of his dragon. The Brown seemed to be rather revved over something, but over what exactly the rider was unsure.
Tereth stood erect and alert, eyes whirling with excitement and anticipation. Eltimioth will rise soon.
The Brownrider felt his stomach disappear into Between. Oh. Shards. Oh shards oh shards oh shards! How could he have forgotten something so important?!? He needed to find a stand in. “Where’s Ofie?”
You can’t ask Ofie.
“Why can’t—Oh yeah.” She was a Jr. Weyrling now. She wouldn’t be allowed to have sex until her dragon had fully matured. “Shards.” Ok, ok, don’t panic. There are lots of women about the Weyr. Just need to find someone to ask.
You do that, Tereth a replied as he stepped out of their weyr, a hint of amusement in his voice at his rider's reaction. I’m going to go feed.

The Brownrider went out and found someone rather quickly (thank goodness for Brownrider status), and the rest of the time thereafter was mostly a waiting game. The two made idle chatter in his weyr until the all-too familiar piercing cry of the Green came. Enjoy this flight, cause we’re not doing this more than once, S’ren told the other. He could practically feel his partner tensing up in eager anticipation from where he was.
I will. Multifaceted eyes never once left Eltimioth’s glowing green form. His beautiful beautiful Green… He would have her this time. He answered her challenging call with a strong bugle of his own, and the moment she left the ground he too was airborne. He would not be letting anyone else win this flight.

Mine, a dragon has taken to the sky in flight. Shall I give chase?
If you'd like. It's been a while since you were in a Flight, so give it a shot.
H'oun dismounted from his brown down where the riders were milling about preparing for the flight, his eyes quickly taking in the young man who was very clearly the rider of this green. A sigh escaped his lips as he rubbed the back of his head, knowing that even if he wished it now it was too late for Pierth to back down. His brown was strong, fast, and would give a good chase.
H'oun just wished there were more female greenriders.

There were a few who gave chase, but the number didn't matter to Eltimioth--it pleased her that more than one brown was giving chase though. Still, she had her pride (wasn't that the truth, came the lingering thought from what remained of her rider's consciousness, that was not absorbed with her in flight) and they would have a long and arduous Flight ahead of them if she had her way. And Eltimioth generally got her way.
She gave another taunting cry to her prospective suitors, climbing higher into the sky.

This would not be an easy chase, but Tereth did not expect it to be. He would have to work for her, and that was perfectly all right with him. This green was definitely worth it. He climbed high into the sky after her, looking for any openings to move in.

It was cute to see such a smaller brown daring to get an edge in over Pierth. How long had it been since these two competed - ah yes. Since the time Pierth won and Tereth's had to find company in the arms of that chatty tanner.
Of course Pierth didn't really remember all of that, but H'oun did. Either was it was not important as the brown flapped his wings, pulling himself forward against the air.

Tereth was pulling closer--but no! Not even he could catch her, not this early! She hissed and strained, climbing for more height--once they were high enough, she'd give them ample reminder of exactly what she, one of the most agile greens in the weyr, could do. Her tail lashed angrily against the air as her wings beat strenuously, and she pulled away again, reveling in the thrill of the chase.

It was encouraging to actually have been gaining on her, but the Brown was not surprised when she began to pull away from him again. Eltimioth would not be caught so soon or so easily. He had seen her fly many times, and knew that the Green had quite a few tricks in her arsenal. He would have to be able to match them to win.
He was not very pleased to notice however that one of the Browns also chasing was Pierth. He was not overly fond of Pierth, for no matter how nice he tried to be it was usually in vain. No, such a stuck up dragon as him would not be capturing his Eltimioth. He'd make sure of that.

It was actually pretty hard for Peirth to think straight with his rider not really willing him into anything. While it was obvious that the other dragons really wanted this Green, Pierth's actions showed that he...was just playing along. H'oun could do without, certainly.
That being said he watched Tereth pull ahead and the brown snorted, taking his wing to move faster.

There is a green taking to the skies. I am going for her. Iweith snapped V'tur out of random tasks around their weyr. The brown was already in the air as he snapped his wings to catch up to the other browns who would be his competitors. Peirth and Tereth. He would not let them win this race!
"Shards! What? No! Iweith!" But it was too late for the brown rider as he left his living space and headed towards the main area of the weyr. He disliked this part of living in a new place. There was no one he really knew to take his relief out on.

Tereth was normally what the green would consider a close friend, draconically speaking, but right now she was busy feeling a surge of hatred for the brown impudent enough to try and make this a short Flight. How dare he! Especially when he knew she liked to show off a bit!
With a snap backwards to show her irritation, she readied one of her favorite maneuvers--a rolling dive that sent her down through the pack below, a sharp twist to the side and then off in another direction she went, sure she'd managed to shake off her pursuers...for the moment, anyway. But Tereth wasn't the only brown giving chase, and all of them were much bigger and had far more endurance. She'd be caught eventually--but she would do her best to make sure it wasn't anytime soon.

Honestly, it wasn't Tereth's intention at all to try to make this a short flight. He loved watching Eltimioth show off in the air, but... this would be the only chance he'd have to chase her, and he did not want anyone else to win this. To make matters worse, another Brown had entered the chase and was even gaining speed. Letting out a warning roar to the other two Browns, Tereth followed after the Green's dive as smoothly as his large body was capable of. He would not be shaken off her trail!

Pierth shook his head as he watched the Green dip and dive, his body moving the same to keep up with her. Tereth was far ahead of him, closer to the green than he certainly was, but Pierth wasn't about to throw the towel in any time soon. He certainly wasn't going to stop now that another brown was speeding in on the chase!
Folding his wings to let himself drop a little bit, he lowered from the pack and gave himself a burst of speed to keep going.

Iweith roared and snarled as he caught up to the flight. The other browns had closed in on the green and she was now trying to gain higher ground. Well, he had endurance and not bulk. Taking to the thermal, he tried to find a good vantage point to drop in on her.

The downsides to browns giving chase, the green thought sourly, was tricks like that Pierth was pulling now--superior wingspan allowing a lead neck-in-neck with Tereth's. And even that latecomer brown was pulling ahead of some of the others! The nerve of all of them!
Eltimioth rolled further away from the browns, darting in a vaguely zigzag fashion as she went, ready to evade any of the behemoths who thought they could best her--they'd never match her agility!
