Remind me why we are here again?
Eltimioth is in need of more seashells. We have to help search.
Ah... right. S'ren let out a soft sigh. The greenrider's dragon was really quite a piece of work, but at least the change of scenery was a bit refreshing. The pair had gone to the nearest stretch of ocean in order to help E'lai hunt for seashells. Apparently her current collection was 'lacking' at the moment. Although it was hard to tell really which shells she found satisfactory. "Are you having any luck over there?" he called out to his younger blond friend who was a small distance away. Perhaps if he knew more or less what to look for the shells he picked wouldn't be turned down so quickly.

"Mmhmm!" E'lai called back, holding up his most recent additions to the steadily growing pile further up the beach--bivalve shells with different pink patterns across the outer part of the shell. Realizing S'ren's likely predicament with the picky green, he added hurriedly, "She's mostly looking for pinks today, though if you find a nice tangerine..."
Eltimioth interrupted, completely nonchalant as usual about addressing all of them. No more of the silly wrap-about ones. Unless they are very large, or very shiny.
"When she says 'very large' she means 'large enough to wear on her head knobs'," E'lai said wryly. "Brave a fashion statement as it might be..."
You would not know fashion if it bit you on the nose. The green's mental voice seemed almost offended.
"Why would it be biting me on the nose?" he asked with a laugh.

In the beginning, hearing another dragon apart from Tereth had been rather odd. now however he was quite used to hearing the odd green's voice. Actually, most of the Weyr was used to hearing her voice. She was strangely talkative for a dragon. "Alright, so pink, orange, and no wrap-around. Got it."
Even Tereth was helping to claw about the sand for seashells. I do not see any large enough to fit the description. There is a pink one here though.
"That might work," S'ren remarked, bending down to pick up the shell that his brown had uncovered. Holding it up for E'lai and Eltimioth to see, he asked, "Is this more to her liking?"

Eltimioth delicately stepped across the beach, carefully minding her feet and trying not to step on those already assembled to her liking. She stuck her snout out to peer closely at the proffered shell, turned her head first one way and then the other as she seemed to be investigating it from all sides. Finally, she pulled back her head and gave an almost comical decisive nod. It is acceptable.
"At least say 'thank you', they don't have to be here helping you," E'lai said in a gentle scolding. Left unsaid was the assumption that E'lai of necessity 'had to be here helping you.'
Thank you Tereth. Thank you S'ren. She peered over behind her at E'lai almost mischievously before adding, But I still require more shells.
E'lai rolled his eyes and chucked a tiny shell at his dragon, who batted it away with a tail-swipe.

It is always a pleasure to help you, Tereth replied to the green. You have fine taste.
Suck-up, S'ren thought to himself, resisting the urge to roll his eyes at his dragons words. Yes, she had fine taste alright, but perhaps it was a little too 'fine'. "How many shells are you looking for today?" In the back of his mind, S'ren couldn't help but wonder what exactly was done with all of the shell collections anyway.

"A nice pile. Jaina said she knows a Metalsmith crafter who has some idea about grinding the shells to make mosaic jewelry, so naturally Eltimioth decided this was something not to be missed out on," E'lai said solemnly, though he couldn't manage to keep a straight face all the way through and broke into a grin. The oddest surprise of his young life after Impression would have to be that his foster mother and his dragon seemed to have struck up some kind of friendship that utterly mystified the boy.
Perhaps if he'd realized that they were the two most likely to worry over him, it would've made more sense. But the thought never once crossed his mind, and all he knew was that Jaina had a tendency to spoil his green with things like jewelry suggestions. He'd never met a more vain dragon--and unlike some of the other greens, she wasn't even a flirty vain. Vanity for the sake of vanity?
He had to admit she was gorgeous, but he was more than a little biased, being her rider and all.
Eltimioth was busy looking mighty pleased at herself for having "fine taste." I appreciate the help! E'lai-mine is very good at finding things but there is only one of him so it would take much, much longer.

That would take quite a while,, Tereth agreed with a nod before resuming his earlier digging. Do not worry. We shall help you search.
S'ren meanwhile had moved over closer to E'lai to continue the search. "Mosaic jewelry, eh? Well then, I can see why she needs more shells." It would take quite a bit to make jewelry fro a dragon after all. Looked like they'd be there for a while. "So, how have you been recently?"

Eltimioth resumed her own search, picking over the beachline with careful delicate steps--rather a sight, to see the green dragon on what passed for dragon tiptoe.
"Just for the headknobs, I think, maybe a bit to set along the harnesses for Gathers or something," E'lai said with a rueful smile. He'd shudder at the idea of fullbody contraptions even for a smallish green--besides, it would really be too garish. And he suspected his wingleader would probably have something to say on the matter...
"Well enough. Drills, drills, more drills--this is the first chance I've had to sneak off for a bit for some time," the nineteen Turn old said with a shrug. "And what have you been up to, S'ren?"

"Much the same really," S'ren replied with a laugh. "Drills are pretty much the essence of what we do, aren't they? Although Tereth and I did enjoy a nice dip in the lake a few days ago with a few others. That was a nice change." He had always found it rather a shame that he and E'lai ended up in different wings. He thought the young greenrider would have likely done well in L'ton's wing.
Tereth wasn't having too much luck anymore in his current spot, so he moved a little closer to his clutchmate to try digging there. There were a lot of shells under the surface of the sand after all.

"I'll take drills over real Threadfall any day," the greenrider said sheepishly, before moving on quickly to happier thoughts. "The lake sounds like fun. Eltimioth likes the ocean better, but she's just picky like that. Lakes have a lack of interesting things, or so she tells me."
Eltimioth, seeing Tereth's strategy, hurried to adopt it in a spot a little further to the side, but her digging disturbed one of the residents hiding below the sand--a spiderclaw snapped a claw at the green, who emitted a squeak and stepped back, before realizing the silliness of the situation. Impertinent! she snorted at it, deliberately poking it from its blind side.

Although S'ren never wished Threadfall on anyone, there was admittedly a very small part of him that wished they could fight something rather than simply doing drills all that time. That was the reason for dragonriders' existence in the first place, wasn't it? "I suppose that just depends on one's definition of 'interesting'," S'ren said with a small smile. "I'm sure there are those who much prefer the lake to the ocean.
Tereth raised his head at the squeak, and was amused to watch as she fussed and poked at the small creature. Find something of interest there?

"The lake is incredibly less likely to be full of things that could potentially maim you," E'lai agreed. "A distinct lack of watersnakes, for one..."
This tiny creature thinks it can defy me, Eltimioth said with another snort, though she wasn't paying quite enough attention and the spiderclaw scored a pinch on her poking talon, which caused the green to squeak yet again.
"I do believe my dragon is being harassed by a spiderclaw," E'lai said, casting a glance over at the bristling green who seemed to be contemplating ending the little crawler's life existence in the very near future. "Don't smash it, you're the one that broke into its home."
But-- Eltimioth sounded sorely tempted.

"Not to mention that lakes are located conveniently right next to the Weyr," S'ren added in with a small smirk. His attention was soon drawn to the green dragon's venture with the spiderclaw, and he nodded in agreement when E'lai pointed this out.
There are still other places to dig for shells, Tereth agreed, gently trying to turn Eltimioth's attention away from the spiderclaw. Hm, this shell isn't pink, but what do you think of it? The shell that the brown had unearthed was flat and thin, with a mostly deep blue color to it. There was other varying hues of blue mixed in as well, but the surface of the shell was smooth and very shiny.

E'lai laughed. "There's that too. Meet anyone interesting?"
Eltimioth's attention was immediately distracted as no doubt the brown had hoped, and the green peered over the blue shell with whirling almost matching blue of happiness. It's beautiful! The mood was abruptly ruined a moment later when she added matter-of-factly, But now we shall need to find more this color as well.

"Interesting is a good choice of word," S'ren said with a chuckle. "You could say that, yes. What about you? Have you had much interaction outside of your wing recently?" As of yet the ebony-haired rider had yet to hear of his friend taking a particular interest to any single person. Then again, neither had he, but that was beside the point.
Tereth gave an amused rumble to Eltimioth's assertion. But of course. I believe the color combination would be rather nice with the shells we've already collected. It was an interesting thing to note that Tereth had a better sense of such things than his rider, but this was probably helped by all the time he had spent with Eltimioth up till now.
