Hello, and welcome to my SoA journal. This is where I'll be keeping all my RPs, as well as my pets' directory information, which can also be found, conveniently enough, in the SoA directory.

Please don't post here. If you want to RP, PM me or get in touch with me in the thread. I also don't mind if you IM me randomly on AIM, but let me know before you add me on MSN or Yahoo, because I just tend to ignore requests from names I don't recognise.

Ok, that being said, let's get on with this thang. XD Just click on one of the contents options to take you to what you want to see.

You're the candle, and love's the flame
A fire that burns through wind and rain
Shine your light on this heart of mine
Till the end of time
You came to me like the dawn through the night
Just shinin' like the sun
Out of my dreams and into my life
You are the one, you are the one

Said I loved you, but I lied
'Cause this is more than love I feel inside
Said I loved you, but I was wrong
'Cause love could never ever feel so strong
Said I loved you... but I lied

With all my soul, I've tried in vain
How can mere words, my heart explain?
This taste of heaven, so deep so true
I've found in you
So many reasons, in so many ways
My life has just begun
Need you forever; I need you to stay
You are the one, you are the one
Said I Love You... But I Lied - Michael Bolton

She's a rather calm and serene cheetah, with a definite motherly attitude. She adores cubs, and if she spies one in trouble, she'll go out of her way to help. She'd do the same for other, older cheetahs, too - and perhaps animals of other species, if the situation arose - but cubs pull at her heartstrings the most.
.:. History .:.
( *Cliff Notes* ) She was part of a litter of three, being raised alone by her mother. When she was young, just out of the cub stage of her life, she and her family were attacked by a vicious male lion, who slaughtered her mother and sister, and then feasted on the corpses. She and her brother managed to escape, and for a time, they wandered together, seeking a new home. They learned the art of hunting from trial and error, and supported each other and helped themselves and the other survive through the good times and the bad. Eventually, though, they parted ways, when both had grown to adulthood and could easily fend for themselves. Zakiya often wonders what has become of her brother, her sole surviving relative. She doesn't even know if he's alive, and that thought had saddened her for many a moon. Her life spent travelling the wilds with her brother has instilled in her a wanderlust, however, and she never remains in one place for long, always heading in whatever direction her paws take her before long.

.:. Umo and Zakiya .:.

Split Personality
Umo walked alone, like he did when he was thinking. His crimson eyes were tired, due to the worry he had been feeling since Kikawaida's birthing had started, and since he could not be there with her; he was pacing around. Burning energy. Drowning his worry. His brown tail hung slowly behind him as he walked, he hadn't slept well for a while. He blinked, the 'v' shaped markings under his eyes moving with his cheeks as he thought. 'The spirits will help her along. I know they will' He thought.

Kaytla
Zakiya paced slowly through the long grass, for the moment not noticing Umo was even there, despite him being a large, dark shape moving through the light grass. It couldn't be helped; she was undoubtedly tired. Her tail, normally bouncing with every step, hung limply behind her, only occasionally flicking at the end. She'd not slept well the previous night, laying awake unnecessarily, keeping a close eye on the young cubs she'd found and decided to take in. She didn't regret the idea, no... she was just feeling the strain of going from lone wanderer to mother in a day.

Now she was prowling - sort of - for another kill for them. Doubtless they'd be hungry when they awoke. She was supposed to be hunting, but at the moment, she just felt too tired.

Split Personality
Umo turned his head to the side and then the other, listening to the night. There was anouther predetor in the area, he could hear. For once, he did not care... wait... that was all the time. He searched the area, to spot her. Hm... why not make this easier.

He let out a medium roar, his tail curling over his back. His roar was... diffrent than other lions, lacking something. Pitch perhaps? Poor Monotone boy. Hopefully the child would gain mothers whispers and not fathers monotone.

Kaytla
The roar, despite whatever it may be lacking, registered in her tired mind as that of a lion, and it pushed her into a state of better awareness. She stopped in her tracks, and her lips drew back to reveal her pointed teeth, a low growl forming in her throat - not one of challenge, just more of a 'back off' sort of sound. Her legs tensed as she watched him with wary purple eyes, ready to run if this hunkering male advanced in a threatening manner, for she's not fool enough to take on a strong, healthy lion, especially a male.

Split Personality
Umo could not help but smile. He did not mean to frighten the creature. His tail lowered to the ground again, the 'v's moving as he spoke. "It is alright. I only roared to see what you were. I did not mean to startle you" He said, his voice monotone, copmpletly lacking in pitch. HIs crimson eyes looked at her with a calm expression on his face.

"I am not a threat." He added, his voice flat. He planted himself squarly, tired of walking. To weary to really want to walk anyway.

Kaytla
She was a fairly trusting creature by nature, although more wary of lions than any other. With her past, who could blame her? She lowers herself to a seated position, slowly, moving her tail to curl it around her paws. Her eyes quickly flicked over the surrounding area. One lion she could handle being around, two at a push, but more than that and she became agitated and nervous. She was just checking to make sure he was the only one around.

"Then... I suppose it's all right. No harm done, after all," she murmurs, voice low and having a seemingly naturally soothing cadence.

Split Personality
Umo smiled warmly, glad she was calmer. He understood the fear with Lions, considering many of them killed her kind when they found them as babies. He could not image himself doing that, escpecailly with being a father soon. He scented the air, to check to see if other lions were on the prowl but smelled none. He looked back to her. "I understand. It is a tough world." He said, his voice still flat. Curious. "Escpecailly when Lions are involved.

Kaytla
When he smiled, she returned it, put a little more at ease by this. She'd met a handful of pleasant lions in her wanderings, even though none of those meetings had developed into lasting friendships, so she knew all lions weren't bad. She still retained her wariness around them, however, and she knew it wasn't likely to ever leave her.

"Yes, it is a tough world," she replies, voice turning thoughtful. She wasn't thinking about herself, however. It was the two young cubs on her mind. Korou had suffered greatly in such a short time, and Tama was an orphan. Life had not been kind to those two. "But I don't really think lions are to blame for everything wrong in it." Her voice lost the thoughtful tone, and her eyes travelled back to him, away from where they'd wandered slightly to the left in thought.

Split Personality
Umo nodded, his black mane falling into his crimson eyes. "True beyound words" He said, jerking his head to clear his vision. He felt sorry for all those creatures that Lions hurt, sometimes including prey but that was just Umo for you, unsual in many aspects. Kikawaida liked it that was apparently. He hoped she was alright. He turned his weary head to the side.

"Though trusting all lions can be a hazard" He stated, more like a fact than an accusation. Course, Umo was a softey who had adopted a cub as well, unsual being that he was male.

Kaytla
With lions, and probably only lions, she was wary of their characters from the start. "I don't usually spend enough time with any lion I may come across to trust them, but I thank you for the wise advice."

But this conversation was not the most pleasant she'd ever had. So, to change the subject, she asks, "So what are you doing out here on your own?" Perhaps he was a traveller, like her. Or... she'd learned there was a pride nearby, he might be part of that.

Split Personality
He nodded, appreciated that she appreciated his advice, though she probbly already knew that. He thought of another creature attacking his child, and knew he would not take well to that. A parent is a parent. She spoke and he cocked his eyebrow then smiled.

"life has been stressful for me. My mate is in labor as I speak." He said, looking nervous but not afraid. "My adoptive son... is growing to be an adult and has a mind of his own apparently. I figured I would take a bit of time for myself before... my life changes drastically." He said with a smile. "My name is Umo by the way." He said, with a smile.

Kaytla
A wide smile split her maw at his

words. Cubs. She adored cubs, no matter if they were lion or cheetah or any other. And he has an adopted son, too? Her opinion of him increases a little at this. Males weren't typically known for doing that kind of thing.

"Congratulations, Umo," she says warmly, sincerely. "I'm Zakiya." A slight pause, and then a thought occured to her. "If your mate is about to give birth, should you not be with her?" She tilts her head slightly to the left as she watches him.

Split Personality
Umo blinked. "I... well... I did not know which she prefered but when I went to be with her... a genet told me it was not wise... she was nervous... she has been like that lately." He said, a worried look on his face showing how upset he was or still is. He blinked as his face went slack, the 'v's moving on his strong cheek bones. "Nice to meet you Zakiya." He said with a pleasent head bow. Umo the weirdo.

He shuffled his front feet. "I want to what is best for Kikawaida, my mate... thus I went for a walk." He shrugged.

Kaytla
She chuckled softly as he bowed his head. Strange behaviour, especially from a lion, but she didn't question it. She'd seen others do far stranger things. She'd learned to simply accept the eccentricities of others.

"Yes," she murmurs with a nod. "I've never done it myself, but I imagine the birthing experience to be rather... daunting for the female, and perhaps the male also." She takes a quick look round. "Is she nearby? It's probably wise to stay near her, in case she has need of you, if only to support her through the ordeal." Well, that's typical Zakiya behaviour. The wellfare of others is usually first and foremost in her mind.

Split Personality
Umo felt like an idiot for a moment. "No... she is in the swamp lands. She is of the swamp pride. I should probbly go that way, just in case. Care to join me?" he said, not wanting to loose the good company so soon. "Need less to say, I have never done it either. Nor have I had a mate who has. She was not well informed of the... process either. Thought she was gaining wait... my precious Whispering Jewel." he said with a loving glow to his eyes.

He stood and looked to her.

Kaytla
She shakes her head sadly as she watches him. "I can't leave here just yet. I have two cubs with me, asleep and waiting for me to bring home food. As much as I would enjoy the walk, for I love to travel, I can't leave them alone and unprotected."

But she noticed that the male now looked somewhat embarrassed, and sought to help rid him of the feeling, if she could. "But if she is with her pride, Umo, I am sure she is well looked after. I don't think you need to worry so much about the well being of your love and your cubs if the other pride members are with them."

Split Personality
Umo sat down, she had a good point. He would always have that edgy feeling about not being close to his loved one at her time, but the genent had spoken to him and Umo agreed, his presence could be hazardous to Kika. He smiled. "Ah, so you have two cubs. Congratulations." he said with a warm smile, though his voice was flat.

"Kikawaida is with is queen and those whom have passed into the next life, she will be fine. " he said, though he was still nervous. "What are the cubs named may I inquire?"

Kaytla
"Thank you," she murmurs softly, a smile on her features. "Their names are Korou and Hinotama." Those two little cubs had already stolen her heart, even though she'd known them but a little while.

She wasn't quite sure what Umo meant by 'those whom have passed into the next life', for she knew nothing about the ways of the Swamp Pride, having never been there on her travels. It sounded like he was referring to lions who'd died and gone on to another place, but the thought was somewhat unbelievable to her. Then again, she'd never come across any spirits in her life. "As long as there's someone to care for her, Umo, she will be fine, I'm sure of it."

Split Personality
Umo smiled wide, his 'v's moving. "Very fine names." He complimented. He was feeling comforted by her words. A female would surely know what was best for other females. His crimson eyes closed for a moment.

"I certainly hope so. I do not know what I would do without Kika." He said with a smile. He then lay down, his tail curling behind him. "I do hope the cub is as beautiful as Kika"

Kaytla
"I think so, too, although I can't take credit for them. I didn't name either of them. We only met a short time ago, after all." There was quite a bit of distance still between them, she realised now, so she gets gracefully to her feet and pads closer before returning to her seated position.

"I'm sure it will be," she murmurs with a smile. "So... tell me about your Kika. What is she like?"

Split Personality
Umo nodded. "So I am guessing you did adopt them then?" He asked, his voice flat still. Perhaps that was his way of speaking. And hadn't he said Whispering jewel earlier? "Kikawaida is amazing. She is all the colors of the swamps, yet with pink eyes like a new cubs toes. Her voice is naught but a whisper but talks to those so soothingly. It amazes me."

He shut his eyes and smiled. "Kika is in the swamp pride while I am in the one not far from here... I was worried it would not work, our prides are not rivals... but... I still worried."

Kaytla
"Yes, I did adopt them. Two hungry friends without parents that I found on the road and took in." They were little bundles of energy that she had a little trouble keeping up with, she'll admit, especially Korou.

"She does sound amazing, and very beautiful. You're lucky to have her, and your cubs." At his other words, she nods. "I've heard of the rivalries between the lion prides, and even the wariness between those that aren't enemies. You had a right to be worried. I would have, too."

Split Personality
Umo smiled. Anouther adopter, just like him. "I see, two cubs who needed homes and you could have easily walked past but... you did not. Impressive. I admire that." He spoke, his tail twitching lightly as a bug land upon its tip. He wiggled his front toes, digging into the dirt, trying to distract himself.

"She is amazing. Perhaps you can meet her someday. When the cub is old enough. I am rather new to pridelife, I do not know of enemies of my pride. I should though!" He said with a laugh.

Kaytla
She laughed, shaking her head a little. "I couldn't've left them, not after I learned they were both alone. One of them - Korou - was injured, too. He still can't walk properly, but it'll soon heal."

Her tail unfurls from around her paws, then curls back around it, the tip flicking slightly against the grass. "I'd like to meet her. She sounds wonderful. But if you don't know of your pride's enemies, perhaps you should ask your king of queen about them. After all, they're now your enemies, too."

Split Personality
Umo smiled again. "Thats what I mean. I saw my adoptive son alone and was so saddened by it. I had to take him in." He said, looking down at his feet, his black feet.

"She is very wonderful. In a way you remind me of her. I guess all mothers will do that..." He said, then covering his face with his paws and rolling onto his side, he said. "Oooh, I am so nervous. I hope she is okay... not only do I now know my enemies but she is in a diffrent pride so they may have more enemies."

Kaytla
She smiled, too. "I admire that. In my experience, not many males would do the same." Her eyes follow the path of a small bird, flying high up, streaking across the sky.

"I'm sure, what with her being in labour and a new mother, she'll be well protected by everyone in her pride. But still, you're right, it would perhaps be wise to learn who her enemies are, just in case the knowledge proves useful one day." She allows her lithe body to slip into a laying position, forepaws crossed in front of her, tail flicking from side to side behind her.

.:. Zakiya and Davu'Adem .:.

Kaytla
The dark shape of the femme moved through the long grass of the plains, the sun high in the sky eliminating any chance of hiding herself against the golden shoots. The paws of the female strike the ground with unusual force, further evidence of the fatigue in her light purple eyes, which are fixed dead ahead of her as she continues her slow movements. The last week had not been kind to this cheetah, that was easy to see.

Her travelling finally ceases in the sparse shade of a tree, and she wearily drops to a seated position as a yawn splits her maw.

KasaiLoki
This place, so quiet and calm, allowed the skittish adolescent to feel at home for the first time in his life. Not only had he become more confident around the other cheetahs of the coliation, but also, he'd been able to actually hunt! To think, one such as his self in size could bring down a creature such as antelope amazed the sunspotted feline.

Currently, you could find Davu'Adem behind the tree in which the female had just approached. As usual, the small boy had been snoozing under the tree, enjoying the warmth the sun flittered onto his body. However, being a light sleeper caused him to awake immediately at the yawn. Who was there...? With perked ears, Adem peered behind the tree, noting the dark female he had never seen before.

Gulping, the small form began to quiver, shuffling (quite noisely I may add so myself) and inching away. Perhaps she wouldn't notice him! Though, with the noise he made, it probably was unlikely.

Kaytla
The female started at the sound of movement nearby, and was even more startled by the sight of another cheetah. Not only had it been a long time since she'd seen another cheetah besides the two cubs she'd adopted, but it surprised her that she'd failed to notice a large animal nearby. She really must be tired to make such a potentially grievous error.

But it became apparent, as soon as she laid eyes on him, that he was for some reason nervous. It struck her that perhaps it could be because of her, and so she dragged herself from the pit of fatigue and let a smile grace her maw, attempting to look less tired and more welcoming.

"Uh... hello," she says quietly, watching the young male and not attempting to stop his retreat. If he still wanted to leave, it was up to him... but she would like to talk to him. It was possible, though somewhat unlikely, that this cheetah could have news of her missing brother, something she was desperately seeking. And if not, she'd never turn down the opportunity to make a new friend.

KasaiLoki
As soon as he heard her voice, the cheetah froze. Yup, she heard him. Being rude was something he never was, so to acknowledge the female was the least he could do. His head lowered as his ears drooped slightly. Pivoting on her paws, his golden eyes laid upon the darker female for a moment. "He....hello." He stammered, tail curling around his back paw.

"Ar...are y..you part of th..this land too?" Adem asked. So far, all the others he had met in this area were part of the little pride that the female adolescent Laio had put together.

Kaytla
Part of this land? Kiya wasn't quite sure what the younger cheetah meant by that exactly, and her head tilted slightly to the side as her fairly spotless tail curled around her equally spotless legs.

Deciding on how best to answer his question, Kiya says slowly, "I only recently came to these lands, looking for my brother." After a short pause, she adds, "I don't belong to any land. I wander from place to place." Although, that had changed recently, since she met Korou and Tama. She doubted there would be much travelling for her in the near future, and her search for her brother would be put on temporary hold, it seemed.

KasaiLoki
Adem listened closely as Kiya spoke. So...she had only just come to these lands on a quest to find someone. ...Too bad he couldn't help her there, for as long as he had been in these lands, he had yet to come across one of the male gender (apart from himself, but that doesn't count.)

"Y...your brother mi..might reside in these lands l..like oth..other cheetahs do.." He nodded, stuttering only a bit, but he tried to bite his tongue when he knew he'd mess up on the words. Curse his nervousness upon meeting new faces! "I...I use to wander too...but...thi..this place is f..far to nice to pass up." He told her, grinning slightly. "I..I'm Adem. Davu'Adem." He introduced.

Kaytla
Other cheetahs? There were more cheetahs here? She'd resided her for a while with Korou and Tama, and yet she'd seen no others. Probably because she'd been too preoccupied with the cubs. And then one of them went missing... and, well, forgive her if she's not been observant enough to notice others in these lands.

"I don't think he would be," she said eventually, shaking her head a little. "He's a lone soul, and a restless one." She actually thought the stuttering to be somewhat endearing, but Kiya was like that with everyone. She was a kind soul indeed, and thinking less of him because of his stutter is the kind of thing that would never occur to her.

"My name is Zakiya, but the few who know me call me Kiya. It's nice to meet you, Adem."
