Having Maji's welcome to stay in the valley, Rahima was searching for a good densite. Ithibati had pointed out where hers was, a few weeks ago, and while not too close Rahima wanted to be in the area. Besides, she and her cubs had been on that mountainside alone long enough. The crimson female hoped to make friends here and re-meet old ones, like Denge and Laana.

At the moment she'd left Nogea and Ewansiha hidden away and was looking in every nook and hollow. Such a beautiful place! If only Saburi were here too, her dear one (and Nyekunudu could stay far far away...). Pink threaded tail swishing with delight, she wandered about.

Ny was creeping around outside the den she shared with her mother and Ithibati, well aware that she wasn't supposed to be. A little giggle broke from her maw as she clambered awkwardly down the steep, rocky hill that led up to her home, looking around and not really watching where she's going. It was a rare thing that she actually managed to get out on her own, although she was always trying to do just that. She got lucky today; her mother was asleep.

She came to a stop on a large, flat rock, flicking her tail as a grin stretched the muscles of her jaw. There were so many places to go! Where should she start exploring first? Her little salmon pink head tilted up as her crimson eyes watched a flock of colourful birds move across the sky.

((Sorry the reply took so long ^^; Phone rang))

A much larger female emerged from the undergrowth nearby. Simular red eyes followed the movements of the same birds, falling back to earth to rest on a young cub she'd not previously seen. Rahima started, struck by some rememblences that were clear. But surely not...?

In any case, she wished to make friends here and no matter their age, any Mistweaver would spark her interest. Wary of a watchful mother, she kept her distance, calling out her greeting to the cub on the rock across the small clearing. Warm voiced, trying to be pleasant.

"Hello there."

[It's ok, luff. ^_^]

She started at hearing another speak, for one moment thinking her mother had caught her in the act. Denge wasn't strict, not really, but little Ny doubted her mother would appreciate her sneaking off. Why, the little cub couldn't guess. Denge just didn't want her running off.

She blinked as her eyes landed on Rahima. She'd never seen her before. Then again, she'd only seen Ithi and her mother up until this point, hadn't she? The only place Denge really took her was to the waterfall. It was always quiet there, and private.

"Uh..." She glanced around, perhaps looking for somone else the red femme could be talking to. Seeing no one, she glanced back at her. "'Ello..."

"...is your mother around?" She didn't want to offend the unknown parent or parents of this young one by speaking to her. And after a life long time as a rogue, she'd seen cubs alone so it was second nature to ask. "I'm Rahima."

Sitting down, she measured the distance between them mentally. A safe distance. Offering a friendly smile, she waited for a response. Maybe, one day, this little female would be a playmate for her younger litter. She was probably a few weeks older, though she was small. Rahima knew what it was like to be 'small'.

[Sorry, I was ogling over the cheetah twins in the Item Shop thread. XD]

"Mama?" she replies, glancing back up the way she'd come. "Uh... mama sleeping," she murmurs quietly, unable to think up a fitting lie to stop this female from guessing she was out on her own when she wasn't supposed to be. Well... maybe she wouldn't figure it out, anyway.

"Nyunya." As she says this, she grins widely, for she loves her name. It sounded very pretty to her. She liked it a lot, and she, on rare occasions, showed that she could be a little vain. Oh, dear. Traits of Nyekundu showing through this early on?

"Nyunya? ...that's a very pretty name." Bright eyes blinked. How odd. Another 'Ny' name. Rahima supposed she must be getting paranoid, her mind racing away with wild theories.

"Who're your parents, sweetling? I might know them." Probably a Mistweaver child, though the lionness was surprised by her pink coloured cap. Her own salmon fur had once been an oddity. But then, it seemed to becoming more and more common.

"Mama and Iffi!" she says, bouncing a little. Well, she assumed they were who Rahima meant. They were the only two lions Nyunya had really met, so they must be her 'parents'. She cocked her head to the side, wondering why Rahima would want to know, but still fairly happy to answer her questions. After all, this was the first lion Ny had really seen since her birth weeks ago, and she was intrigued.

"Ithi? Ah you must be Denge's young one...which means..." Oh. Oh my. If she hadn't already been sitting down she would have done, sharply. If the rumors were true, then this young one was Nyekundu's. So she was -

"...I think I may be your grandmother. It's a pleasure to meet you, either way."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 29, 2006 11:46 am

Ny blinked a few times. That word was strange, one she'd never heard before. Neither her mother or Ithi had ever used it with her.

"Gran - granm -" She broke off and shook her head. It was foreign on her tongue, and she couldn't quite say it. She was too impatient to keep trying, however, so simply abandoned the attempt. "Wassat?" Her head tilts to the other side as she slowly sits down, her tail moving around her to curl around her left front paw.

"Well, I'm the mother of one of your parents" She wasn't explaining more than that. She counted Ithi as a second daughter, so, it wasn't even a lie, if the rumors were wrong and she wasn't Nykundu. "It means we're family...I think, perhaps..."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 29, 2006 12:05 pm

"Family?" she responded quizzically. "Like mama and Iffi?" The thought confused her a little. If this lioness was family, where had she been until now? In her mind, family were the ones who always there. They weren't in different places, spread about. Denge and Ithi were her family, because they were always there for her, night and day, to play with her, feed her, care for her and talk to her.

But the mother of one of her parents... the mother of mama or Iffi? She was mama's mama? Or Iffi's? Why hadn't mama or Iffi told her about this female?

She stood, hopping closer to Rahima, until she could rub herself up against her front legs, as she did with her own mother. Denge always told her to be polite to Ithi when she forgot, so she figured that rule would apply to other members of her family as well.

"Perhaps." Reaching down, she nuzzled the little 'mane' atop Ny's head. Such a sweet child; Rahima could almost feel her hopes rising, knowing a grandchild was some one she could love and look after. Even if she was wrong about her parentage, Ithi andd Denge were friends - maybe she could be an 'aunt' instead.

"I've only just got to this place, since I've been having children of my own...so perhaps." She studied the cub more closely now, noting the black dots like Nyek's. the way her cap sat a little like Denge's black/grey one...

Ny giggled as Rahima nuzzled her. She was a little ticklish in this area, and nuzzling her like that never failed to make her laugh.

"Children? Like me?" she asks hesitantly. She wasn't quite sure that was right. She'd heard both Denge and Ithi refer to her as their child, and it sounded somewhat similar, so perhaps it was the same. Her tail flicks as she settles herself to sit between Rahima's paws. Being untrusting wasn't in Ny's nature at this age. If this female said she was family, Ny believed her, especially since she was being affectionate and nice to the little cub.

"Yes. Nogea, the eldest, has markings under his eyes like yours...and Ewansiha has a pale coat too." She paused, mind flicking back to them, worry sounding in her heart. But they were close by, she'd know if they were in trouble. Besides, these lands belonged to a pride. Safe, almost. "They're a little younger than you, Ny."

"I'd better ask your parents about this soon. But until then, are you alright, need anything, food, or...?" She figured she was old enough for meat...maybe? Ny's size was deceptive. Smiling down at the cub between her paws, she puzzled over what to do.
