A ghost of a dog flew over the savannah at a speed that even a cheetah would have a hard time matching. She was loving the cool breeze on her fur, loving her ability to run this fast, loving that no tmatter what she did or where she went, Temari could outrun her own life. That was her only stable thought in life, that if she could run fast enough her troubles would be stripped from her golden body that way.
Her paws flew to the beat of her heart, her chest pulling in air and her body focusing soley on what she was doing. If she kept running then nothing could catch her.
A small splash met the ears of any nearby. Kizaki had taken a break and was swimming again. The water was her friend, just as much as the sky and air were her mothers friends. She had entirely too much water in her soul for her to stay above the water all the time. Her jaws closed on the water and she cast a toothy grin at the air, letting the water drain from her jaws through the spaces between her teeth. ninja

The dark form of Zakiya moved towards the body of water the pup played in, silent as the shadows she blended effortlessly with. The idea had been to get in a little late night hunting while her cubs slept, but once she'd begun moving, travelling like old times, she'd found the experience too pleasurable to give up, and had continued to let her limbs propel her forward at a moderate pace, heedless of the various prey beasts she'd passed. She'd made sure not to stray far from the two waiting for her, though.
For a moment, she watched the little wild dog female at her play, before deliberately shifting her paw to dislodge a stone, sending it into the water with a quiet splash, just to let the little pup know she was there. She didn't want to startle the young female, but she was in need of a drink. Crouching, she laps slowly at the water, her tail flicking around behind her.

Kizaki filled her abnormally large lungs with air and sank under the water as soon as the stone hit the stream she was in. She wasn't supposed to be out playing like this, yet she was. She looked up through the dark water and focused her green eyes on the figure drinking at the surface, from the way it's tongue moved she could discern that it was feline. That much she could tell sincce time after time she had needed to figure out who was above her.
After a few long minutes under the water, Kizaki decided that maybe it would be okay for her to surface and drink the air the way she drank the water. After all, for as large as her lungs were, for as long as they could hold air in them, she needed air eventually.
Surfacing a little ways off from the feline, Kizaki let out a gasp and inhaled air through her snout in droves. She kept her sight up on the night sky for a long time before looking over at the stream's visitor. A black cat?
Temari felt the air breeze over her and decided to take a little break. She had been running for hours, so long that she was actually almost back to the den. There was a small stream ahead, maybe she could get a drink there. After all, running for hours made you need it. ninja

She had watched the little pup dive under the water, and it hadn't surprised her. Often younger animals would try to hide or flee from an adult, especially one of another species, she'd found. But the pup had disappeared under the surface for a long time, and the cheetah femme had started to grow concerned over her wellfare. Just as she'd made the decision to go in after her, the pup, thankfully, had resurfaced, making diving in and saving her unnecessary.
"What are you doing out here alone?" she asks quietly, curious. Was this pup perhaps one of the young animals running around without a family to call their own? If she was, Kiya knew she'd have to help her, if the pup would accept the help. It went totally against her nature not to help her, even though the little female wasn't even feline.

"Alone? Is Kizaki alone? Or do you count as a person too to keep her company. Because you seem to be keeping her company right now. So Kizaki isn't entirely alone is she?" The little pup leaned her head to the side, her pidgin english smoothing out of her muzzle and over the feline in front of her. She was intrigued by this cat. Why would a cat be talking to a dog?
Well, it wasn't as if she had ever met one before. So who was she to say what a cat was allowed to do?
A sigh passed from Temari's jowels as she got closer to the stream and let it's water call her nose. She wanted to take a deep drink from it and revel in the cool water. But what was that smell? She had never smelled anything like it before. What?
A cat!? What?
Her small yet strong legs carried her the rest of the way to the stream against her better judgement. ninja

For a moment, Kiya was rendered speechless by the pup's odd way of speaking, her light purple eyes, almost lilac, widening a little in her surprise. She'd never heard speech quite like that before, despite being well-travelled. But a soft laugh floats out of her maw nonetheless, and she lowers herself to a seating position, flicking her tail behind her.
"You have a point there, Kizaki," she murmurs, a smile stretching her muzzle. "I guess you're not alone at all anymore. But why were you alone before I came?" Amusing speech was not going to distract Kiya from her concern that this pup may be a lone wanderer, and perhaps in need of care... although she didn't look in bad shape at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. Perhaps this female had a family after all.

Kizaki. She should have known.
"She's wandering when she should be back in the den asleep with both of her brothers." Temari answered for the large cheetah before her daughter got a chance to open her sarcastic jaws.
The tone in Temari's smooth voice was incredibly stern, but not altogether unwelcoming. She did like to meet new faces and knew beings, though she wasn't sure who this was. But she seemed to have this odd caring air about her, something that Temari could relate to because she had the same attitude.
"Hello my feline sister." Temari said in a polite tone. She was still a mother though, so her eyes were focused on both the cheetah and Kizaki at the same time.
Kizaki froze that the voice of her mother. Now she was in trouble.
Lots of it. ninja

"Ah..." Zakiya nods slowly, turning to look at the newcomer, obviously this pup's mother, or at least a close relative. The young female wasn't alone in the wilds, then; that was good.
Of course, Zakiya picked up on that same vibe that Temari got from her. It's always nice to find a kindred spirit, especially when that soul is found in an unlikely place at an unlikely time.
"Good evening," she murmurs in reply, her smile stretching with added amusement at being addressed in such a strange way. Still, it wasn't an unpleasant monicker to be given, and it's not something that bothers her in the slightest. "My name is Zakiya," she offers without prompt, usually always the first to invite further friendly conversation after a meeting with a stranger.

Temari smiled at this new creature. "So Zakiya the cheetah then is it? That's a very pretty name." Her tail thumped on the ground, her motherly instincts were less prominent than her will to make new friends, though if Kizaki moved an inch towards their new friend then she woudl snag her by the ruff and pull her back until she knew if Zakiya was as nice as she seemed.
"So what brings you out here sister? Do you always travle this far from the cheetah lands?" Her smile was disarming in a way.
Kizaki sidled back to the water a little ways. She knew that if it came down to it, she could outswim her mother. After all, Temari couldn't swim as well as she could run. Her fishlike qualities were remarkable really. Even her mother was appaled by how quickly she could swim. ninja

"Thank you," she murmurs in reply, although she noticed that Temari never offered her name in return. It didn't bother her; after all, she could tell, despite the wild dog femme's kind manner, that she was wary of her. Perhaps it was a thing mothers could sense about each other. So she didn't comment on it.
"I'm a wanderer," she then says, in response to Temari's next inquiry. "Despite being in these lands for a while, I only recently learned there were other cheetahs nearby. I've only met one of them as it is." She had no real desire to meet the others, actually; she'd always survived best and felt most comfortable either alone or in the company of her brother. Well, with the exception of the little cubs she'd taken in, of course. Travelling as she had, Kiya rarely had the chance to make long-term friendships, so she usually avoided contact, especially from others of her kind.

Temari made concerned face towards the other female as she leaned her head softly to the side. A wanderer? Temari had done that for a bit herself. Always wandering about.
"Yes, Of course. So you're a wanderer as well?" This brought a laugh to Temari's lips and she let it slide out of her muzzle slowly. "I wandered for a long time myself before I had pups. Maybe you ran into a similar predicment sister? I can smell young on you after all. It's hard to not notice." With a large leap forward, Temari caught Kizaki by her ruff and pulled her back a bit.
"No more swimming for you missy." She lifted her head to Zakiya. "Oh how rude of me. I'm sorry, my name is Temari of the Wind. Can you forgive me for being so rude?" She let her ears fall to the sides of her head.
Now what was she to do? She had been caught as she tried to work her way over to her new friend. Letting out a whimper, Kizaki gave her mother puppy dog eyes unhappily. Massivly unhappily.
"But, Kizaki wasn't going to go anywhere Mummy. She just wanted to swim a bit more. Not even go that far she wouldn't." She said quietly. Only to recieve a stern look that made her ears drop and make her cringe.
Uh oh. ninja

The dark female slowly let herself lower into a sphinx-like laying position, delicately crossing her forepaws one over the other. "Yes, the arrival of cubs in my life stopped my days of wandering, but they're not mine, not really. They were two homeless cubs I find completely by chance and took in."
"There's nothing to forgive, sister," she then says, adopting Temari's way of speaking. "It's a very pretty name you have, too." Zakiya paid no mind to Temari pulling her pup back. In fact, the cheetah femme would have found it odd if she hadn't, although, of course, Kiya would never harm one so young. In fact, she would only harm anyone at all if it was absolutely necessary. But, of course, this wild dog female doesn't know that.

"Thank you. I haven't been told that a name of the wind is very pretty. It's nice to hear though." Temari told the large cat, bowing her head low and smiling. "Ah, I have my own, though I don't know who their father is anymore I'm afraid to say. I'm glad to hear that you take care of others so well. Especially the little ones, they'll be the ones that will remember for years when we're gone after all."
A slow smile spread over her long muzzle as she put a paw on the top of Kizaki's head and chuckled. "You can swim tomorrow when I'm around. You know you aren't supposed to be out this late."
Large green eyes closed sadly and turned to look at Zakiya. The moon shined brightly in them, illuminating them and casting jem-like mystics across them and making them glow in the pale light. Eyelashes slowly closed, looking like a venus fly trap as the connected before the actual lids did. She wanted help, she wanted away. She wanted to swim.
Maybe she could use one long and strong leap to send her hurtling into the water. Her mother would never be able to catch her then. She didn't know about Zakiya, but she knew her mother couldn't swim as fast as she ran.
Wait.
The eyes snapped back open as strong pair of hind legs dug into the dirt and flung Kizaki towards the water, her white marked fur shimmered as the moonlight reflecting from the water hit it. The gold from her mother's coat glowed as the teal rippled. Her front paws hit the water first, sending diamonds over the water and across the ground, darkening it with each drop.
The small figure was instantly gone before her mother could even react. ninja

She had been about to respond to Temari when Kizaki suddenly made her great leap for the freedom of the water. Immediately, the dark cheetah femme was on her feet, craning her neck forward to try and look for the vanished pup. It had been instinct that propelled her to her feet, in concern for the young female. But, unfortunately, there wasn't much Kiya could do. She could swim, yes, but she wasn't particularly fast at it.
Still, the young wild dog had showed remarkable skill at swimming. Zakiya was sure she'd be fine, and this lessened her instinctive worry enough to let her posture relax just a bit. [Woo. Sorry for my writer's block. x.x]

Strong back legs propelled Kizaki through the clear water at a speed that her mother would have only been able to do on the land. It was keeping her safe for the time being, but mostly she just wanted to swim. After months of training and practicing so that she could hold her breath for great amounts of time, the small pup had finally suceeded in mastering the ability to escape from her mother's clutches when she wanted her.
Haha, beat that mom.
Springing forward, Temari's body rocketed forward quickly and she was quite a few hundred feet from the spot she had been when she started by the time she stopped and looked through the water. In her mind she realized just how rude it was of her to just run away from Zakiya like that. Of course, she tended to be rather fast, so she knew that if the cheetah wanted to follow she would. ninja
